  • This paper presents a nuclear steam generator tube inspection/maintenance robot system. The robot assists in automatic non-destructive testing and the repair of nuclear steam generator tubes welded into a thick tube sheet that caps a hemispherical or quarter-sphere plenum which is a high-radiation area. For easy carriage and installation, the robot system consists of three separable parts: a manipulator, a water-chamber entering and leaving device for the manipulator and a manipulator base pose adjusting device. A software program to control and manage the robotic system has been developed on the NT based OS to increase the usability. The software program provides a robot installation function, a robot calibration function, a managing and arranging function for the eddy-current test, a real time 3-D graphic simulation function which offers remote reality to operators and so on. The image information acquired from the camera attached to the end-effecter is used to calibrate the end-effecter pose error and the time-delayed control algorithm is applied to calculate the optimal PID gain of the position controller. The developed robotic system has been tested in the Ulchin NPP type steam generator mockup in a laboratory.

  • With the development of information technology and the growth of the scale of system and network, cyber threats and crimes continue to increase. To cope with these threats, cybersecurity training based on actual attacks and defenses is required. However, cybersecurity training requires expert analysis and attack performance, which is inefficient in terms of cost and time. In this paper, we propose a cyber attack simulator that automatically executes attack techniques. This simulator generates attack scenarios by combining attack techniques modeled to be implemented and executes the attack by sequentially executing the derived scenarios. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed attack simulator, we experimented by setting an example attack goal and scenarios in a real environment. The attack simulator successfully performed five attack techniques to gain administrator privileges.

  • The performance of a refrigerant mixture of propane(R290)/isobutane(R600a) as a substitute for CFC12 was investigated in a domestic refrigerator with single evaporator. A thermodynamic cycle simulation indicated an increase in COP of a 1.7 to 2.4% with R-290/600a in the composition range of 0.2 to 0.6 mass fraction of R290 compared to CFC12. For the tests, two units($299{\ell}$, $465{\ell}$) were used. All refrigeration components remained the same throughout the tests, except that the length of capillary tube and amount of charge were changed for the mixture. The refrigerators were fully instrumented with more than 20 thermocouples, 2 pressure transducers, and watt/watt-hour meter for each refrigerator. 'Energy consumption test' and 'no load pulldown test' were performed under the same condition. The experimental results obtained with the same compressor indicated that R-290/600a mixture at 0.6 mass fraction of R290 showed a 3 to 5% increase in energy efficiency and a faster cooling speed compared to CFC12. The R-290/600a mixture showed a shorter compressor on-time and a lower compressor dome temperature than CFC12. In conclusion, the proposed hydrocarbon mixture seems to be an appropriate candidate to replace CFC12 without causing more environmental problems.

  • In this paper, we propose a open-ended rectangular microstirp patch antenna with fork-shaped feeding structure. This antenna extends the effective bandwidth by transforming single or multi resonant frequency and is designed planar monopole structure with microstrip line to satisfy the WLAN bands (2.4 - 2.484, 5.15 - 5.35, 5.25-5.825 GHz). The substrate is printed in 0.8 mm thickness on an FR-4 board. A commercial 3D simulation tool was used to analyze surface current and electromagnetic field distribution in order to analyze the operation mode and reconfiguration principle of antenna. According to the lengths of individual patches, simulated reflection loss was compared to obtain optimized values. When it was designed with the optimized values, it satisfied WLAN bands (2.380 - 2.710, 4.900 - 5.950 GHz), if the switch is off, and 2.4 WLAN band (2.380 - 2.710 GHz). From the fabricated and measured results, measured results of return loss, gain and radiation patterns characteristics displayed for operating bands.

  • Nonthermal particles can be produced due to incomplete thermalization at collisionless shocks and further accelerated to very high energies via diffusive shock acceleration. In a previous study we explored the cosmic ray (CR) acceleration at cosmic shocks through numerical simulations of CR modified, quasi-parallel shocks in 1D plane-parallel geometry with the physical parameters relevant for the shocks emerging in the large scale structure formation of the universe (Kang & Jones 2002). Specifically we considered pancake shocks driven by accretion flows with $U_o = 1500 km\;s^{-l}$ and the preshock gas temperature of $T_o = 10^4 - 10^8K$. In order to consider the CR acceleration at shocks with a broader range of physical properties, in this contribution we present additional simulations with accretion flows with $U_o = 75 - 1500 km\;s^{-l}$ and $T_o = 10^4K$. We also compare the new simulation results with those reported in the previous study. For a given Mach number, shocks with higher speeds accelerate CRs faster with a greater number of particles, since the acceleration time scale is $t_{acc}\;{\propto}\;U_o^{-2}$. However, two shocks with a same Mach number but with different shock speeds evolve qualitatively similarly when the results are presented in terms of diffusion length and time scales. Therefore, the time asymptotic value for the fraction of shock kinetic energy transferred to CRs is mainly controlled by shock Mach number rather than shock speed. Although the CR acceleration efficiency depends weakly on a well-constrained injection parameter, $\epsilon$, and on shock speed for low shock Mach numbers, the dependence disappears for high shock Mach numbers. We present the 'CR energy ratio', ${\phi}(M_s)$, for a wide range of shock parameters and for $\epsilon$ = 0.2 - 0.3 at terminal time of our simulations. We suggest that these values can be considered as time-asymptotic values for the CR acceleration efficiency, since the time-dependent evolution of CR modified shocks has become approximately self-similar before the terminal time.

  • This paper presents an efficient joint disparity-motion estimation algorithm for stereo sequence CODEC. Disparity vectors are estimated by the left and right motion vectors and previous disparity vectors for every frame. In order to obtain more accurate disparity vectors. we include a spatial prediction Process after the feint estimation. From joint estimation and spatial prediction, we can obtain accurate disparity vectors and then Increase coding efficiency. Finally, we proposed the backward quadtree decomposition. which helps the encoder to have a more detailed disparity vector map without transmitting additional coding bits for quadtree information. We confirmed superior performance of the proposed method through computer simulation.

  • The robots that will be needed in the near future are human-friendly robots that are able to coexist with humans and support humans effectively. To realize this, humans and robots need to be in close proximity to each other as much as possible. Moreover, it is necessary for their interactions to occur naturally. It is desirable for a robot to carry out human following, as one of the human-affinitive movements. The human-following robot requires several techniques: the recognition of the moving objects, the feature extraction and visual tracking, and the trajectory generation for following a human stably. In this research, a predictable intelligent space is used in order to achieve these goals. An intelligent space is a 3-D environment in which many sensors and intelligent devices are distributed. Mobile robots exist in this space as physical agents providing humans with services. A mobile robot is controlled to follow a walking human using distributed intelligent sensors as stably and precisely as possible. The moving objects is assumed to be a point-object and projected onto an image plane to form a geometrical constraint equation that provides position data of the object based on the kinematics of the intelligent space. Uncertainties in the position estimation caused by the point-object assumption are compensated using the Kalman filter. To generate the shortest time trajectory to follow the walking human, the linear and angular velocities are estimated and utilized. The computer simulation and experimental results of estimating and following of the walking human with the mobile robot are presented.

  • In this paper, we study a TT&C link to obtain a required specifications of TT&C(Telemetry Tracking and Command system) antenna for an LEO(Low Earth Orbit) satellite. The premised mission orbit is the sun-synchronized and circular orbit and it performs earth-space observations. We design minimum TT&C link-budget to obtain required antenna beamwidth and gain. The proposed turnstile antenna provides wide beamwidth and circular polarization. We suggested the attaching position that shows the most effective results by confirming the variation of antenna performance when the proposed antenna is adapted to satellite's various positions. Also we proved the proposed antenna's ability while it is performing the mission through the orbit simulation based on the electrical performance of the proposed turnstile antenna.

  • Bit patterned media (BPM) storage is one of the promising technologies to overcome the limitations of the conventional magnetic recording. However, there are some problems in a high areal density BPM storage, inter-track interference, inter-symbol interference and noise which are severely degrading performance of the system with reducing the bit error rate. In this paper, we present a simple iterative two-dimensional equalizer based on the contraction mapping theorem to mitigate these adverse effects. Furthermore, we examine that the channel characteristics of the proposed two-dimensional equalizer satisfies the convergence conditions. In the simulation we demonstrate the bit separation characteristics of the one-dimensional equalizer and the two-dimensional equalizer and evaluate the BER performance of the proposed equalizer comparing with the conventional equalizers. According to the results of experiments, the proposed equalizer is an promising equalizer with maintaining proper complexity for a high areal density BPM storage.

  • We propose a new image pixel architecture which has OFD(Over Flow Device) node by improving conventional 3TR pixel structure. Newly designed pixel consists of photo diode which is verified with HSPICE simulation, PMOS reset transistor, several NMOS and several PMOS transistors. Photodiode signals from each PMOS and NMOS are detected by Reset PMOS. These output signals give enough chances to detect wide operation coverage because OFD node has overflow photocurrent. According to various light intensity, we analyzed characteristic of the output voltage with a SPICE tool. Proposed pixel output has specific value which can detect possible from $0.1{\mu}W/cm^2$ to $10W/cm^2$ light intensity. It has wide-dynamic range of 160 dB.
