Effects of $MnO_2$ on the Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of Pb($Zr_{0.52}$ $Ti_{0.48}$)$O_3$ Ceramics (Pb($Zr_{0.52}$ $Ti_{0.48}$)$O_3$세라믹스의 유전 및 압전성에 미치는 $MnO_2$ 의 영향)

  • Effects of MnO2 addition ranged from 0.0wt% to 5.0wt% on the microstructure and dielectric and piezoelectric properties of the Pb(Zr0.52 Ti0.48)O3 Ceramics have been investigated. The solubility limit of MnO2 in Pb(Zr0.52 Ti0.48)O3 is about 0.5wt%, and MnO2 as a valence state of Mn3+ is substituted for (Zr, Ti) lattice site in PZT solid-solution. The addition of MnO2 up to 0.5wt% in Pb(Zr0.52 Ti0.48)O3 brings increase of density, but decreased of grain size and tetragonality. Dielectric constant slightly decreases, but both coupling factor(Kp) and mechanical quality factor(Qm) increase with the addition of MnO2. However, excess amount of MnO2 addition more than 0.75wt% results in rapid decrease of resistance. Dielectric constant and tan $\delta$ increase due to the second phase and inhomogeneous Mn distribution.

  • The $0.65Pb(Mg_{1/3}Ta_{2/3})O_3-0.35PbTiO_3$ (PMT-PT)ceramics were near morphotropic phase boundary. The dielectric constant, the loss, and pyroelectric coefficient of the ceramics were measured as a function of temperature ($25^{\circ}C\;{\sim}\;250^{\circ}C$). The dielectric constant, the loss, and the pyroelectric coefficient could be improved with the addition of small amounts of $ZrO_2$ up to 0.2 mol%. The dielectric and pyroelectric peak temperature are slightly shifted to lower temperatrues with the addition of amount of $ZrO_2$.

  • Specimens of SrZr0.95Ga0.05O3-$\delta$, SrZr0.95Y0.05O3-$\delta$, BaZr0.95Ga0.05O3-$\delta$ and BaZr0.95Y0.05O3-$\delta$ were fabricated by a solid-state reaction method and subsequent sintering at 150$0^{\circ}C$ to 1$600^{\circ}C$ The microstructures and electrical characteristics of the specimens were studied. Only BaZr0.95Ga0.05O3-$\delta$ showed dense microstructure and had typical impedance spectra at various temperature. Its electrical conductivity by impedance analysis was 2.7$\times$10-3$\Omega$-1.cm-1 at 90$0^{\circ}C$ in air. The BaZr0.95Ga0.05O3-$\delta$ exhibited lower grain rsistance in wet atmosphere than in dry atmosphere and the reduction of resistance is due to the proton conduction.

  • In this study, electrical properties and TCFr of Pb(Sb$_{1}$2/Nb$_{1}$2/)O$_3$-Pb(Mn $_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_3$-Pb(zr, Ti)O$_3$ composition ceramics were investigated wish the Zr/Ti ratio and the additions of Y2O3. and Fe$_2$O$_3$ Electromechanical coupling factor(Kp) showed the highest value of 0.555 in the Zr/Ti=0.50/0.50 ratio ,however, dielectric constant showed the highest value of 1,217 in the Zr/Ti = 0.49/0.51 ratio. Excellent TCFr vague of 421ppm/$^{\circ}C$] at-30~9O$^{\circ}C$ was appeared in the Zr/Ti=0.50/0.50 ratio and electro-mechanical coupling factor(Kp) , mechanical quility factor(Qm) and dielectric constant was 0.496, 1,286 and 1,085 ,respectively ,in the composition ceramics of lwt%Y$_2$O$_3$ and 0.3wt%Fe$_2$O$_3$.

Properties and Manufacture of the $\beta-SiC-ZrB_2$ Composited Densified by Liquid-Phase Sintering. (액장 소결에 의한 $\beta-SiC-ZrB_2$ 복합체의 제조와 특성)

  • The mechanical and electrical properties of the hot-pressed and annealed $\beta-Sic$+39vol.%$ZrB_2$ electroconductive ceramic composites were investigated as a function of the liquid forming additives of $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3(6:4wt%)$. In this microstructures, no reactions and elongated $\alpha$-SiC grains with equiaxed $ZrB_2$, gains were observed between $\beta-SiC$ and $ZrB_2$, and the relative density was over 97.6% of the theoretical density. Phase analysis of the composites by XRD revealedmostly of $\alpha$-SiC(6H, 4H), $ZrB_2$, and weakly $\beta-SiC$(15R) phase. The fracture toughness decreased with increasing $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ contents and showed the highest of $6.37MPa.m^{\fraction ane-half}$ for composite added with 4wt% $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ additives at room temperature. The electrical resistivity increased with increasing $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$contents and showed the lowest of $1.51\times10^{-4}\Omega.cm$ for composite added with $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$ additives at $25^{\circ}C$. This reason is the increasing tendency of pore formation according to amount of liquid forming additives $Al_2O_3+Y_2O_3$. The electrical resistivity of the composites was all positive temperature coefficient resistance(PTCR) against temperature up to $700^{\circ}C$.

  • We investigated a electrical and CO gas sensing properties of pure ZnO and ZnO-ZrO$_2$ composite ceramics. We made 0∼20mo1% ZrO$_2$added ZnO composite ceramics and observed a microstructure of the broken side of the samples. The properties of the samples were studied with temperature, composition, arid a concentration of carbon monoxid. The measured 1000ppm CO sensitivities of pure ZnO were about 1∼1.42, and that of ZnO-ZrO$_2$were about 1∼10.6. In order words, the 1000ppm CO sensitivities of ZnO-ZrO$_2$composite ceramics were about 1∼2 times larger than that of pure ZnO with temperature. The measured 250ppm, 500ppm CO sensitivities of ZnO-ZrO$_2$composite ceramics were about ∼3.28. ∼5.04, respectively.

Sol-Gel Template Synthesis and Phase Transitions of $PbZrO_3$ Nanotubes ($PbZrO_3$ 나노튜브의 졸-겔 형판 합성과 상전이)

  • We report the phase transition temperatures of the $PbZrO_3$ perovskite nanotubes made by sol-gel template synthesis. The lead zirconate($PbZrO{_3}$) nanotubes were prepared with a chelate sol-gel of zirconium tetrabutoxide($Zr(OBu){_4}$) and leadacetate($Pb(OAc){_2}-3H_2O$). $Whatman^(r)$ anodisc membranes, with a 200nm pore size, served as the template. After removing the template in the 6M-NaOH solution, the $PbZrO{_3}$ nanotubes so far have shown an anomalous transition temperature, $123.6^{\circ}C$ as measured by DSC with a small particle size, 15.4nm determined by X-ray analysis with the aid of Scherrer's equation.

  • The microstructural changes of $NiCrAlY/ZrO_2$-$Y_2$$O_3$ composite coatings that were manufactured by air-plasma-spraying were investigated using XRD and SEM/EDS. The as-sprayed microstructure consisted of (Ni,Cr)-rich regions, ($ZrO_2$-$Y_2$$O_3$)-rich regions, and $Al_2$$O_3$-rich layers that were formed during spraying owing to the oxidation of Al in NiCrAlY. During oxidation between 900 and $1100^{\circ}C$ in air, Cr in the (Ni,Cr)-rich regions diffused toward the $Al_2$$O_3$-rich layers, and oxidized to be dissolved in $A1_2$$O_3$-rich layers. The oxidation of Ni in the (Ni,Cr)-rich regions was less distinct, except at the outer surface of the coating.

Effect of Pressing Process on the High-Temperature Stability of Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia Ceramic Material in Molten Salt of CaCl2-CaF2-CaO (CaCl2-CaF2-CaO 용융염에서 YSZ 세라믹의 고온 안정성에 미치는 성형공정의 영향)

  • The high-temperature stability of YSZ specimens fabricated by die pressure and cold isostatic press (CIP) is investigated in CaCl2-CaF2-CaO molten salt at 1,150 ℃. The experimental results are as follows: green density 46.7 % and 50.9 %; sintering density 93.3 % and 99.3 % for die press and CIP, respectively. YSZ foremd by CIP exhibits higher stability than YSZ formed by die press due to denseness dependency after high-temperature stability test. YSZ shows peaks mainly attributed to CaZrO3, with a small t-ZrO2 peak, unlike the high-intensity tetragonal-ZrO2 (t-ZrO2) peak observed for the asreceived specimen. The t-ZrO2 phase of YSZ is likely stabilized by Y2O3, and the leaching of Y2O3 results in phase transformation from t-ZrO2 to m-ZrO2. CaZrO3 likely forms from the reaction between CaO and m-ZrO2. As the exposure time increases, more CaZrO3 is observed in the internal region of YSZ, which could be attributed to the inward diffusion of molten salt and outward diffusion of the stabilizer (Y2O3) through the pores. This results in greater susceptibility to phase transformation and CaZrO3 formation. To use SOM anodes for the electroreduction of various metals, YSZ stability must be improved by adjusting the high-density in the forming process.

Study on the Corrosion Characteristics in the Slag Line of SEN Oxide Refractory (산화물계 SEN내화물의 슬래그 라인부 침식특성 연구)

  • The corrosion resistance of submerged entry nozzle (SEN) materials were investigated for high-class steel manufacturing. Composite samples were fabricated by mixing $ZrO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, MgO, mullite, spinel, and carbon. The raw materials were mixed with attrition milling, compacted in a uniaxial pressure of 200MPa and calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 3 h in $N_2$ atmosphere. The bulk density and apparent porosity of the calcined samples were measured by the liquid displacement method in water using Archimedes's principle. The corrosion resistance of the samples were measured by cup test with mold powder at $1550^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The microstructure and elemental analysis of samples were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrum (EDS), and X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD). The XRD result shows that the starting raw materials were crystalline phase. The microstructure of fabricated specimen was investigated before and after corrosion tests at $1000^{\circ}C$ and $1550^{\circ}C$ for 2h. $ZrO_2$-C composite showed good resistance in the slag corrosion test. Among the composite oxide materials, $ZrO_2-Al_2O_3$-C and $ZrO_2$-MgO-C showed better resistance than $ZrO_2$-C in the slag corrosion test. The diameter variation index of $ZrO_2$-C refractory was 16.1 at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The diameter variation index of the $ZrO_2-Al_2O_3$-C refractory was larger than that of the $ZrO_2$-C refractory at $1550^{\circ}C$ for 2 h.
