  • Recently, high speed transmission and large information demand have been increased. Also, researches of integrated optical device for large production and high-efficient planar lightwave circuit (PLC) have been increased. In this paper, integrated optical alignment is proposed which makes passive alignment between optical device and optical fiber possible. The integrated optical device consists of splitter structures which have one input and two outputs. The proposed integrated structure was fabricated by roll-to-roll (RTR) processing method. This method enables to manufacture continuously and the processing time can be shortened. Optical property of the fabricated optical device showed 3.9 dB insertion loss and 0.2 dB optical uniformity using the light source with 1550 nm wavelength.

  • In this paper, we present a design and implementation of three dimensional pointing device using Inertial Navigation System(INS) that acquires coordinates and location information without environmental dependancy. The INS measures coordinates based on the data from gyroscope and accelerometer and corrects the measured data from accelerometer using Kalman-Filter. In order to implement the idea of three dimensional pointing device, we choose a three dimensional Space-recognition mouse and use RFIC wireless communication to send a measured data to receiver for printing out the coordinate on display equipment. Based on INS and Kalman-Filter theoretical knowledge, we design and implement a three dimensional pointing device and verified the usability as an input device that can capture a human's move. also, we describe the applicability of this device in ubiquitous computing environment.

  • In this paper, a 7-bit 2GSPS folding/interpolation A/D Converter(ADC) with a Self-Calibrated Vector Generator is proposed. The ADC structure is based on a folding/interpolation architecture whose folding/interpolation rate is 4 and 8, respectively. A cascaded preprocessing block is not only used in order to drive the high input signal frequency, but the resistive interpolation is also used to reduce the power consumption. Based on a novel self-calibrated vector generator, further, offset errors due to device mismatch, parasitic resistors. and parasitic capacitance can be reduced. The chip has been fabricated with a 1.2V 0.13um 1-poly 7-metal CMOS technology. The effective chip area including the calibration circuit is 2.5$mm^2$. SNDR is about 39.49dB when the input frequency is 9MHz at 2GHz sampling frequency. The SNDR is improved by 3dB with the calibration circuit.

  • 3D crosstalk is one of the disturbing things to recognize 3D images. This is caused by the phenomenon that input image for left eye is transferred at the right eye and right eye is transferred at the left eye because of the imperfect isolation by the device characteristics. In this paper, we review the 3D PDP (Plasma Display Panel) operation using active shutter glasses and crosstalk measurement method and investigate the major cause of 3D crosstalk and extend conventional 3D crosstalk using full white and full black image input to Gray-to-Gray (GtoG) 3D crosstalk. We suggest a specific method to reduce Gray-to-Gray 3D crosstalk by using Look up Table (LUT) and sub-field mapping in PDP. And then, we verify the method by measuring GtoG 3D crosstalk rate through specific test images and numerical results.

  • In this paper, the performances of the presented D2D (device-to-device) systems under the environment of the cognitive convergent overlay networks are evaluated based upon the locations of the D2D users' terminals, the power consumptions of the terminals and the reductions of the interference levels. As the capabilities of the users' terminals improve, the optimization of the system is crucial to the efficient utilization of the radio resources of the individual networks considering their mobility and the features of their networks. Users' mobility model is given for the performance evaluation of the D2D system. In this paper, the performances of the D2D systems are evaluated in terms of the performance index of the FER (frame error rate) employing multiantenna techniques (MIMO:multiple input multiple output) for the various network environments.

  • This paper is about an authoring interface for augmented/mixed reality based book, specifically authoring 3D objects properties of Digilog book. We pursue even normal users with non-professional knowledge for programming can make the Digilog book easily. An authoring interface 3D object properties includes a manipulator as an input device and 3D contents authoring parts. As an interface design metaphor, existing GUI interface, already familiar to computer users, are referenced. The manipulator generates continuous/discrete input signal are necessary for authoring interface. Contents authoring part performs selection, positioning, scaling, coloring, copy of virtual objects using the input signal of the manipulator. Also users can exploit already existing GUI interface metaphor including pointing, click, drag and drop, and copy techniques with the manipulator. Therefore we think our AR authoring system can support rapid and intuitive modification of properties of virtual objects.

  • This study presents a vertical-type CMOS Hall device with improved sensitivity to detect a 3D magnetic field in various types of sensors or communication devices. To improve sensitivity, trenches are implanted next to the current input terminal, so that the Hall current becomes maximum. The effect of the dimension and location of trenches on sensitivity is simulated in the COMSOL simulator. A vertical-type Hall device with a width of $16{\mu}m$ and a height of $2{\mu}m$ is optimized for maximum sensitivity. The simulation result shows that it has a 23% better result than a conventional vertical-type CMOS Hall device without a trench.

  • This paper studies on the human cognition of object's weight in virtual environment. We design the force input device which consists of a 3D mouse and a simple spring. It provides users with force feedback. The user can measure the weight of an object by the grasping force to move or lift it up in the virtual environment. Three kinds of experiments are performed. The first one is performed to analyze the relationships between the object's weight and its volume. The second one is to find the relationships between the object's weight and the its texture and finally the third one is to find the relationships between the object's weight and the force used to move an object. We conclude from the analysis of the experiment that object's volume or texture are not the critical factor for user to realize its weight. But the grasping force is critical and meaningful in realizing its weight so that the virtual environment with force cue provides users with more immersive environments. And, also the force input device is effective enough for user to feel the weight of the object.

  • This paper presents a S/C/X-band LNA MMIC with resistive feedback structure in 0.25 um GaN HEMT process. The GaN devices have advantages as a high output power device having high breakdown voltage, energy band gap and stability at high temperature. Since the receiver using the GaN device with high linearity can be implemented without a limiter, the noise figure of the receiver can be improved and the size of receiver module can be reduced. The proposed GaN LNA MMIC based on 0.25 um GaN HEMT device is achieved the gain of > 15 dB, the noise figure of < 3 dB, the input return loss of > 13 dB, and the output return loss of > 8 dB in the S/C/X-band. The current consumption of GaN LNA MMIC is 70 mA with the drain voltage 20 V and the gate voltage -3 V.
