개인용 컴퓨터상의 그래픽스 인터페이스 설계와 응용 (Design and Applications of Graphics Interface on Personal Computer)

  • 한국과학기술원의 설계자동화연구실에서 IBM PC/AT 상에서 동작하도록 제작한 그래픽스 보드 "K"를 구동시키기 위하여 소프트웨어 인터페이스인 CGI-K를 TI사에서 제공한 C언어와 어셈블리 언어를 이용하여 작성하였다. CGI-K를 구성하는 디바이스 드라이버 루틴과 네모, 원, 현 및 호와 같은 그래픽스 프리미티브를 만드는 알고리듬을 제안하였으며, CGI-K는 EGA(enhanced graphics adapter)의 CGI보다 3배에서 10배 정도 빠른 속도를 갖는 것을 보였다. CGI-K를 이용하여 2차원 그래픽스 에디터인 GRIM과 3차원 모델링 프로그램인 IPCHE를 만들었으며, GRIM은 그래픽스 프리미티브를 이용하여 원하는 그림을 그릴 수 있도록 하였으며 IPCHE는 3차원 물체의 데이타를 받아들여 보이지 않는 면을 제거하고 명암과 원근 효과를 갖는 3차원 물체를 화면상에 그려 준다.

3차원 이동 궤적 묘사를 통한 인간 동작 데이터 검색 (Searching Human Motion Data by Sketching 3D Trajectories)

  • 실제 사람의 움직임을 촬영하여 얻은 동작 데이터는 인체운동의 메커니즘을 이해하거나 가상 캐릭터의 애니메이션을 합성하기 위한 목적으로 널리 활용되고 있다. 주어진 동작 데이터로부터 원하는 동작을 검색하는 작업은 찾아낸 동작을 분석하고 편집하기 전에 선행되어야 하는 주요 과정이다. 본 논문은 기술어와 같은 별도의 메타 데이터 없이 원본 데이터에 내재된 정보만을 이용하여 검색을 수행하는 새로운 내용 기반 동작 데이터 검색 방법을 제안한다. 주로 신체 자세의 골격 형태나 평면 상의 이동 궤적에 초점을 맞춘 기존 검색 방식과 달리, 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 3차원 공간 상의 궤적을 질의로 입력 받아서 손, 발, 허리와 같은 신체 부위의 이동 궤적이 그와 가장 유사한 일련의 동작 구간들을 검출한다. 사용자가 직관적으로 공간적 궤적을 묘사할 수 있도록 하기 위하여, 본 논문의 실험에서는 손가락의 공간적 움직임을 정밀하게 추적할 수 있는 Leap Motion 제어기를 입력 도구로 사용하였다. 드리블, 슈팅 등의 다양한 동작이 포함된 농구 동작 데이터로부터 미리 선택된 수십 여개의 동작을 검색하는 사용자 테스트를 수행하여 제안된 방법의 효용성을 평가하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 게임에서의 몰입도 증가를 위해 기존 버튼 방식의 입력에 사용자의 자연스러운 동작을 이용한 입력과 진동 촉감을 출력하는 게임 컨트롤러를 제안한다. 동작을 이용한 입력장치는 가속도 추적기와 적외선 비디오 카메라를 동시에 사용한다. 두 정보의 장단점을 보완/융합해서 컨트롤러의 움직임을 추적하고, 사용자의 동작을 인식한다. 다양한 종류의 진동촉감은 보이스코일 진동자를 이용하여 제공된다. 또한, 제안하는 게임 컨트롤러를 게임의 상호작용에 적용하는 방법을 제공하고, 응용 프로그램에의 적용가능성을 살펴본다.

Research and development of haptic simulator for Dental education using Virtual reality and User motion

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop simulations that can be used for virtual education in dentistry. The virtual education to be developed will be developed with clinical training and actual case data of tooth extraction. This development goal is to allow dental students to learn the necessary surgical techniques at the point of their choice, not going into the operating room, away from time, space, and physical limits. I want to develop content using VR. Oculus Rift HMD, Optical Based Outside-in Tracking System, Oculus Touch Motion Controller, and Headset as Input / Output Device. In this configuration, the optimization method is applied convergent, and when the operation of the VR contents is performed, the content data is extracted from the interaction analysis formed in the VR engine, and the data is processed by the content algorithm. It also computes events and dental operations generated within the 3D engine programming and generates corresponding events through data processing according to the input signal. The visualization information is output to the HMD using the rendering information. In addition, the operating room environment was constructed by studying lighting and material for actual operating room environment. We applied the ratio of actual space to virtual space and the ratio between character and actual person to create a spatial composition at a similar rate to actual space.

Effect of Channel Variation on Switching Characteristics of LDMOSFET

  • Electrical characteristics of LDMOS power device with LDD(Lightly Doped Drain) structure is studied with variation of the region of channel and LDD. The channel in LDMOSFET encloses a junction-type source and is believed to be an important parameter for determining the circuit operation of CMOS inverter. Two-dimensional TCAD MEDICI simulation is used to study hot-carrier effect, on-resistance Ron, breakdown voltage, and transient switching characteristic. The voltage-transfer characteristics and on-off switching properties are studied as a function of the channel length and doping levels. The digital logic levels of the output and input voltages are analyzed from the transfer curves and circuit operation. Study indicates that drain current significantly depends on the channel length rather than the LDD region, while the switching transient time is almost independent of the channel length. The high and low logic levels of the input voltage showed a strong dependency on the channel length, while the lateral substrate resistance from a latch-up path in the CMOS inverter was comparable to that of a typical CMOS inverter with a guard ring.

Estimating Illumination Distribution to Generate Realistic Shadows in Augmented Reality

  • Mobile devices are becoming powerful enough to realize augmented reality (AR) application. This paper introduces two AR methods to estimate an environmental illumination distribution of a scene. In the first method, we extract the lighting direction and intensity from input images captured with a front-side camera of a mobile device, using its orientation sensor. The second method extracts shadow regions cast by three dimensional (3D) AR marker of known shape and size. Because previous methods examine per pixel shadow intensity, their performances are much affected by the number of sampling points, positions, and threshold values. By using a simple binary operation between the previously clustered shadow regions and the threshold real shadow regions, we can compute efficiently their relative area proportions according to threshold values. This area-based method can overcome point sampling problem and threshold value selection. Experiment results demonstrate that the proposed methods generate natural image with multiple smooth shadows in real-time.

A 45 nm 9-bit 1 GS/s High Precision CMOS Folding A/D Converter with an Odd Number of Folding Blocks

  • In this paper, a 9-bit 1GS/s high precision folding A/D converter with a 45 nm CMOS technology is proposed. In order to improve the asymmetrical boundary condition error of a conventional folding ADC, a novel scheme with an odd number of folding blocks is proposed. Further, a new digital encoding technique is described to implement the odd number of folding technique. The proposed ADC employs a digital error correction circuit to minimize device mismatch and external noise. The chip has been fabricated with 1.1V 45nm Samsung CMOS technology. The effective chip area is $2.99mm^2$ and the power dissipation is about 120 mW. The measured result of SNDR is 45.35 dB, when the input frequency is 150 MHz at the sampling frequency of 1 GHz. The measured INL is within +7 LSB/-3 LSB and DNL is within +1.5 LSB/-1 LSB.

High-performance filtering power divider based on air-filled substrate integrated waveguide technology

  • A filtering power divider based on air-filled substrate-integrated waveguide (AFSIW) technology is proposed in this study. The AFSIW structure is used in the proposed filtering power divider for substantially reducing the transmission losses. This structure occupies a large area because of the use of air as a dielectric instead of typical dielectric materials. A filtering power divider provides power division and frequency selectivity simultaneously in a single device. The proposed filtering power divider comprises three AFSIW cavities. The filtering function is achieved using symmetrical inductive posts. The input and output ports of the proposed circuit are realized by directly connecting coaxial lines to the AFSIW cavities. This transition from the coaxial line to the AFSIW cavity eliminates the additional transitions, such as AFSIW-SIW and SIW-conductor-backed coplanar waveguide, applied in existing AFSIW circuits. The proposed power divider with a second-order bandpass filtering response is fabricated and measured at 5.5 GHz. The measurement results show that this circuit has a minimum insertion loss of 1 dB, 3-dB fractional bandwidth of 11.2%, and return loss exceeding 11 dB.

  • 최근 높은 편의성과 휴대성을 바탕으로 무선 입력 장비들의 사용이 증가하고 있다. 특히 2.4 GHz 주파수 대역을 사용하는 무선 키보드와 무선 마우스가 가장 많이 사용되고 있지만, 무선 장비의 경우 누설되는 전자파를 제3자가 수신하여 개인정보를 획득하기가 용이하기 때문에, 보안에 대한 취약점 또한 꾸준히 보고되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 2.4 GHz 무선 키보드와 무선 마우스의 취약점을 검증하기 위해 USRP 장비와 GNU 라디오(Radio) 패키지를 사용하여 2.4 GHz 무선 키보드와 무선 마우스의 패킷을 분석하고, 이를 조작하는 시스템을 구현하였다. 구축한 시스템을 이용하여 해당 장비의 통신 프로토콜 및 패킷 구조를 분석하여 장비 고유 주소(Address)와 입력 키 정보를 획득하였고, 임의의 키를 송신하여 원거리에서 사용자 PC를 조작할 수 있다는 것을 증명하였다.

멀티형 인버터 열펌프의 냉방성능해석에 관한 연구 (Performance Analysis of a Multi-type Inverter Heat Pump)

  • A system simulation program was developed for a multi-type inverter heat pump. Electronic expansion valve(EEV) was used to extend the capacity modulating range of the heat pump as expansion device. The program was also developed to calculate actual system performance with the building load variation with climate during a year. The performance variation of a multi-type hat pump with two EEV and an inverter compressor was simulated with compressor speed, capacity, and flow area of the EEV. As a result, the optimum operating frequency of the compressor and openings of the expansion device were decided at a given load. As compressor speed increased, he capacity of heat pump increased, the capacity of heat pump increased. Therefore flow area of EEV should be adjusted to have wide openness. Thus the coefficient of performance(COP) of the heat pump decreased due to increasement of compressor power input. The maximum COP point at a given load was decided according to the compressor speed. And under the given specific compressor speed and the load, the optimum openings point of EEV was also decided. Although the total load of indoor units was constant, the operating frequency increased as the fraction of load in a room increased. Finally ad the compressor power input increased, the coefficient of performance decreased.
