A one-story, wooden-frame, intermediate-bay model with Dou-Gon designed according to the Building Standards of the Song Dynasty (A.D.960-1279), was tested on a unidirectional shaking table. The main objectives of this experimental study were to investigate the seismic performance of Chinese historic wooden structure under various base input intensities. El Centro wave (N-S), Taft wave and Lanzhou wave were selected as input excitations. 27 seismic geophones were instrumented to measure the real-time displacement, velocity and acceleration respectively. Dynamic characteristics, failure mode and hysteretic energy dissipation performance of the model are analyzed. Test results indicate that the nature period and damping ratio of the model increase with the increasing magnitude of earthquake excitation. The nature period of the model is within 0.5~0.6 s, the damping ratio is 3~4%. The maximum acceleration dynamic magnification factor is less than 1 and decreases as the input seismic power increases. The frictional slippage of Dou-Gon layers (corbel brackets) between beams and plates dissipates a certain amount of seismic energy, and so does the slippage between posts and plinths. The mortise-tenon joint of the timber frame dissipates most of the seismic energy. Therefore, it plays a significant part in shock absorption and isolation.
This study attempts at building an integrated GIS computing framework for evaluating space-time accessibility of an individual with the approach of time geography model. The proposed method is based on the integration of mobile GIS and object-relational spatio-temporal database. Three components are central to our system: ( i ) mobile GIS application that transmits spatio-temporal trajectory data of an individual; ( ii ) spatio-temporal database server that incorporates the time geography model; and (iii) geovisualization client that provides time geographic queries to the spatio-temporal database. As for the mobile GIS application, spatio-temporal trajectory data collected by GPS-PDA client is automatically transmitted to the database server through mobile data management middleware. The spatio-temporal database server implemented by extending a generic DBMS provides spatio-temporal objects, functions and query languages. The geovisualization client illustrates 3D visual results of the queries about space-time path. space-time prism and space-time accessibility. This study shows a method of integrating mobile GIS and DBMS for time geography application, and presents an appropriate spatio-temporal data model for evaluating space-time accessibility of an individual.

Characteristics of digital broadcasting are multi-channel, high-definition and multi-function. especially, multi-function is enable us to do a variety of services except for an image and a voice. This paper, therefore, is analyzed propagation environment in Busan into ETRI model application about 지상파 DMB service. It takes to be simulated in Busan area around the mountains area and high building. So it measures the electric field strength in standards. Distribution pattern are similar with mutually in the 이론 and real measurement. Even areas are almost the same, but urban areas and mountains are different with mutually. Therefore, we conclude that ETRI propagation model and theoretical modeling in a free space in Busan area is not suitable.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the application of various numerical models and frequency contents of earthquakes on the performances of the reactor containment building (RCB) in a nuclear power plant (NPP) equipped with an advanced power reactor 1400. Two kinds of numerical models are developed to perform time-history analyses: a lumped-mass stick model (LMSM) and a full three-dimensional finite element model (3D FEM). The LMSM is constructed in SAP2000 using conventional beam elements with concentrated masses, whereas the 3D FEM is built in ANSYS using solid elements. Two groups of ground motions considering low- and high-frequency contents are applied in time-history analyses. The low-frequency motions are created by matching their response spectra with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission 1.60 design spectrum, whereas the high-frequency motions are artificially generated with a high-frequency range from 10Hz to 100Hz. Seismic responses are measured in terms of floor response spectra (FRS) at the various elevations of the RCB. The numerical results show that the FRS of the structure under low-frequency motions for two numerical models are highly matched. However, under high-frequency motions, the FRS obtained by the LMSM at a high natural frequency range are significantly different from those of the 3D FEM, and the largest difference is found at the lower elevation of the RCB. By assuming that the 3D FEM approximates responses of the structure accurately, it can be concluded that the LMSM produces a moderate discrepancy at the high-frequency range of the FRS of the RCB.

As BIM has been increasingly applied to building project recently, its application to civil engineering project is also on the rise. As construction structures have been expanded and complicated in a size and type, the information for handling maintenance process has also increased. Thus, to actively utilize the BIM information created at the design stage, this study has been carried out to establish a maintenance system using a marker-less based augmented reality method, by presenting a maintenance system for the construction structures using augmented reality. A SURF algorithm is used to link the 3D objects in the design and construction phases to the maintenance phase. The presented method in this study can increase the utilization of 3D information created at the design stage, by offering an augmented reality technology at the maintenance stage. The method could also improve the efficiency of visual inspection on construction structures by augmenting 3D model of a bridge structure.

As 3D geospatial information is demanded, terrestrial laser scanners which can obtain 3D model of objects have been applied in various fields such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), structural analysis, and disaster management. To acquire precise data, performance evaluation of a terrestrial laser scanner must be conducted. While existing 3D surveying equipment like a total station has a standard method for performance evaluation, a terrestrial laser scanner evaluation technique for users is not established. This paper categorizes and analyzes error sources which generally occur in terrestrial laser scanning. In addition to the prior researches about categorizing error sources of terrestrial Laser scanning, this paper evaluates the error sources by the actual field tests for the smooth in-situ applications. The error factors in terrestrial laser scanning are categorized into interior error caused by mechanical errors in a terrestrial laser scanner and exterior errors affected by scanning geometry and target property. Each error sources were evaluated by simulation and actual experiments. The 3D coordinates of observed target can be distortedby the biases in distance and rotation measurement in scanning system. In particular, the exterior factors caused significant geometric errors in observed point cloud. The noise points can be generated by steep incidence angle, mixed-pixel and crosstalk. In using terrestrial laser scanner, elaborate scanning plan and proper post processing are required to obtain valid and accurate 3D spatial information.

The use of composite structures is increasingly present in civil building works. Composite Box Girder Bridges (CBGB), particularly, are study of effect of shear connector's numbers and distribution on the behavior of CBGBs is submitted. A Predicti structures consisting of two materials, both connected by metal devices known as shear connectors. The main functions of these connectors are to allow for the joint behavior of the girder-deck, to restrict longitudinal slipping and uplifting at the element's interface and to take shear forces. This paper presents 3D numerical models of CBGBs to simulate their actual structural behavior, with emphasis on the girder-deck interface. Additionally, a Prediction of several FE models is assessed against the results acquired from a field test. A number of factors are considered, and confirmed through experiments, especially full shear connections, which are obviously essential in composite box girder. A good representation for shear connectors by suitable element type is considered. Numerical predictions of vertical displacements at critical sections fit fairly well with those evaluated experimentally. The agreement between the FE models and the experimental models show that the FE model can aid engineers in design practices of box girder bridges. Preliminary results indicate that number of shear studs can be significantly reduced to facilitate adoption of a new arrangement in modeling CBGBs with full composition. However, a further feasibility study to investigate the practical and economic aspects of such a remedy is recommended, and it may represent partial composition in such modeling.

Accurate 3D models in urban areas are essential for a variety of applications, such as virtual visualization, CIS, and mobile communications. LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) is a relatively new technology for directly obtaining 3D points. Because Manual 3D data reconstruction from LiDAR data is very costly and time consuming, many researchs is focused on the automatic extraction of the useful data. In this paper, we classified ground and non-ground points data from LiDAR data by using filtering, and we reconstructed the DTM(Digital Terrain Model) using ground points data, buildings using nonground points data. After the reconstruction, we assessed the accuracy of the DTM and buildings. As a result of, DTM from LiDAR data were 0.16m and 0.59m in high raised apartments areas and low house areas respectively, and buildings were matched with the accuracy of a l/5,000 digital map.

As microeletronics technology continues to progress, there is also a continuous demand on highly integration and miniaturization of systems. For example, it is desirable to package several integrated circuits together in multilayer structure, such as multichip modules, to achieve higher levels of compactness and higher performance. Passive components (i.e., capacitors, resistors, and inductors) are very important for many MCM applications. In addition, the low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) process has considerable potential for embedding passive components in a small area at a low cost. In this paper, we investigate a method of statistically modeling integrated passive devices from just a small number of test structures. A set of LTCC inductors is fabricated and their scattering parameters (5-parameters) are measured for a range of frequencies from 50MHz to 5GHz. An accurate model for each test structure is obtained by using a building block based modeling methodology and circuit parameter optimization using the HSPICE circuit simulator.
