Restenosis after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) continues to be a serious problem in clinical cardiology. To solve this problem, drug eluting stents (DES) with antiproliferative agents have been developed. Variable local drug delivery systems in the context of stenting require the development of stent manufacture, drug pharmacology and coating technology. We have worked on a system that integrates electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technology with the polymeric nanoparticles in DES for local drug delivery and a controlled release system. The surface morphology and drug loading amount of DES by EPD have been investigated under different operational conditions, such as operation time, voltage and the composition of media. We prepared poly-D,L-lactide-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) nanoparticles embedded with curcumin, which was done by a modified spontaneous emulsification method and used polyacrylic acid (PAA) as a surfactant because its carboxylic group contribute negative charge to the surface of CPNPs (?53.5 ± 5.8 mV). In the process of ‘trial and error' endeavors, we found that it is easy to control the drug loading amount deposited onto the stent while keeping uniform surface morphology. Accordingly, stent coating by EPD has a wide application to the modification of DES using various kinds of nanoparticles and drugs.
Thymelaeaceae in Korea includes ten species in five genera (Daphne, Diarthron, Edgeworthia, Stellera, and Wikstroemia). This study investigated the morphology of these species using herbarium specimens and fresh materials obtained during fieldwork to understand the variation level and to delineate each taxon in the family. Our comparative morphological analysis showed that the Korean taxa in Thymelaeaceae were easily distinguished based on their morphologies. It is easy to distinguish Daphne from Wikstroemia when the Korean taxa are considered. However, Daphne genkwa is morphologically similar to Wikstroemia based on the leaf arrangement, pubescence of the leaves, and the ovary shape. The results here suggest that further systematic studies of the Daphne group using more data are necessary.
Bone marrow culture systems are widely used to differentiate osteoclast-like cells in vitro using several osteotropic hormones. In this study, we isolated and cultured the mouse bone marrow cells with or without some osteotropic hormones such as parathyroid hormone(PTH), prostaglandin $E_2(PGE_2)$ and $l,25(OH)_2-vitamin$$D_3$(Vit. $D_3$). We confirmed the formation of osteoclast-like cells morphologically and functionally by the expression of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase(TRAP) and by their capability to resorb dentin slices. We also studied the effects of transforming growth $factor-{\beta}(TGF-{\beta})$ and epidermal growth factor(EGF) on the Vit. $D_3-induced$ osteoclast-like cell formation. In control, a few multinucleated cells were formed whereas PTH and $PGE_2$ increased the number of multinucleated cells. PTH, $PGE_2$ and Vit. $D_3$ induced the formation of TRAP-positive multinucleated cells. After culture of mouse bone marrow cells on the dentin slices with or without osteotropic hormones, giant cells with diverse morphology were found on the dentin slices under the scanning electronmicroscopy. After removing the attached cells, resorption pits were identified on the dentin slices, and the shape of resorption pits was variable. EGF increased the osteoclast-like cell formation induced by Vit. $D_3$, however, $TGF-{\beta}$ showed biphasic effect, which at low concentration, increased and at high concentration, decreased the osteoclast-like cell formation induced by Vit. $D_3$.
Pleurotus florida was transformed by complementation of auxotrophic mutant using chimeric plasmid containing Flammulina velutipes leu 2 gene and pBR 322 replicon. Mycelial morphology of transformants was grown and compared on mushroom complete and minimal medium. Transformants were mated with monokaryon and their genetic recombination was investigated for the morphology of fruitbody and spore analysis. $Leu^+$ transformant showed same mating type of $A_1B_1$ as to the untransformed mutant. The transformant and the untransformed mutant were mated with monokaryon of which mating type is $A_2B_1$, respectively. Although fruitbody of the untransformed mutant was not produced, $leu^+$ transformant produced fruitbody. Spore analysis showed that leucine requiring spores from fruitbody of $leu^+$ transformant were diminished when compared with those of untransformed mutant.
Ce-doped $Y_2$SiO$_{5}$ phosphor particles of spherical morphology, fine size, high crystallinity and high photoluminescence (PL) intensity were prepared by spray pyrolysis. When nitrate precursor solution is adopted, hollow particles were formed by uneven drying rate between surface and inside of droplet. Citric acid and ethylene glycol were introduced as polymeric precursor to control the morphology of particles. When polymeric solution is adopted, polymeric chain is formed by the esterification reaction between carboxyl and hydroxy groups of citric acid and ethylene glycol, and considered as controlling the drying characteristics of droplet. $Y_2$$SiO_{5}$ :Ce phosphor particles prepared from polymeric precursor solution were spherical, filled, fine size and not agglomerate before and after post heat treatment. The optimum doping concentration of cerium was 0.5 mol% of overall solution concentration. The optimum amount of TBOS of high PL intensity and pure crystallinity of X2-type $Y_2$$SiO _{5}$ was 105% of stoichiometric amount. The PL intensity of $Y_2$X$/_{5}$ :Ce phosphor particles prepared using the polymeric precursor solution was 164% of that of the nitrate precursor solution due to homogeneous composition and good morphology.y.
We have revisited the ACS Virgo Cluster Survey (ACSVCS), a Hubble Space Telescope program to obtain ACS/WFC g and z bands imaging for a sample of 100 early-type galaxies in the Virgo Cluster. In this study, we examine 51 nucleated early-type galaxies in the ACSVCS in order to look into the relationship between the photometric and structural properties of stellar nuclei and their host galaxies. We morphologically dissect galaxies into five classes. We note that (1) the stellar nuclei of dwarf early-type galaxies (dS0, dE, and dE,N) are generally fainter and bluer with g > 18.95 and (g-z) < 1.40 compared to some brighter and redder counterparts of the ellipticals (E) and lenticular galaxies (S0), (2) the g-band half-light radii of stellar nuclei of all dwarf early-type galaxies (dS0, dE, and dE,N) are smaller than 20 pc and their average is about 4 pc, and (3) the colors of red stellar nuclei with (g - z) > 1.40 in bright ellipticals and lenticular galaxies are bluer than their host galaxies colors. We also show that most of the unusually "red" stellar nuclei with (g-z) > 1.54 in the ACSVCS are the central parts of bright ellipticals and lenticular galaxies. Furthermore, we present multi photometric band color - color plots that can be used to break the age-metallicity degeneracy particularly by inclusion of the thermally pulsing-asymptotic giant branch (TP-AGB) phases of stellar evolution in the stellar population models.
The gustatory sense organs in the mouthparts of th adult Green Leafhopper (Cicadella viridis L.) were observed by scanning electron microscope. The gustatory sensilla were composed of ten D-sensilla on the precibarim, eight P-sensilla on the wall of both side of eipharyngeal basin, and two H-sensilla in the food canal of the hypopharynx. D- and P-sensilla were again subdivided into 2 subtypes as two types by their morphology. Beneath the cuticle of epipharynx, two paris of nerve bundles were seen originating from D- and P-sensilla, respectively. And a pair of nerve bundles from H-sensilla, beneath the cuticle of hypoharynx, was observed.

3D Printing technology is developing in various prototypes for medical treatment, food, fashion as well as machinery and equipment parts production. 3D printing technology is also able to fully be utilized to other industries in terms of developing its technology which has been reported in many field of areas. 3D printing technology is expected to be used in various applications related to $4^{th}$ industrial revolution such as finished products and parts even it is still carried out in the prototype model. In this study, we have investigated and developed conductive resin for 3d printing application based on reduced graphene oxide(rGO)/Polypyrrole(Ppy) composite and polycaprolactone(PCL) as a biodegradable polymer. The electrical properties and surface morphology of the conductive PCL resin based on therGO/Ppy composite were analyzed by 4point-probe and scanning electron microscope(SEM). The conductive PCL resin based on rGO/Ppy composite is expected to be applicable not only 3D printing, but also electronic materials in other industrial fields.

Mg/Al layered double hydroxide with two-dimensional (2D) nanostructures was synthesized by a hydrothermal technique. The morphology and aspect ratio of $Mg_4Al_2(OH)_{14}3H_2O$ were controlled by the concentration and kinds of the hydrolysis agent, and temperature. The aspect ratio of $Mg_4Al_2(OH)_{14}3H_2O$ layered double hydroxides with the 2D hexagonal crystal structure was tailored from about 12.6 to about 45.7. The intercalated $CO{_3}^{2-}$ anions of the synthesized 2D $Mg_4Al_2(OH)_{14}3H_2O$ layered double hydroxides were exchanged to $NO_3{^-}$ anions. The bulk 2D $Mg_4Al_2(OH)_{14}3H_2O$ layered double hydroxides with the increased space between two layers due to the anion exchange were exfoliated in a formamide solution. The aspect ratio of the exfoliated 2D $Mg_4Al_2(OH)_{14}3H_2O$ layered double hydroxides increased to 570.3.
Cladistic analysis was performed to reveal the interspecific relationship of nine taxa of Korean Diplazium (Woodsiaceae). A total of 29 taxa with 20 taxa of eastern asiatic species as ingroup and three taxa of Athyrium as outgroup, were analyzed with 17 morphological characters. Diplazium nipponicum, recently found from Jeju Island, was most closely related to D. chinense by having the acuminate apex of pinnule segment and fascicled fronds. Diplazium nipponicum was distinguished from D. chinense by having scales and pinnule segments of serrated margin, and non-overlapped pinnules. Diplazium nipponicum and D. chinense were closely related to D. mesosorum and D. hajizoense in sequence, by having long acute apex in pinnae. These species formed same clade with D. subtripinnatum, which is endemic to Japan and D. kawakamii, which is distributed in Japan and Taiwan.
