Due to the nature of the 3D graphics processor system, many mathematical calculations are required and parallel processing research using GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is being performed for high-speed processing. In this paper, we propose a 3D graphics processor using MAMS, a parallel processor that does not use cache memory, to solve the GPU problem of increasing bandwidth caused by cache memory miss and the problem that 3D shader processing speed is not constant. The 3D graphics processor using MAMS proposed in this paper designed Vertex shader, Pixel shader, Tiling and Rasterizing structure using DirectX command analysis, the FPGA(Xilinx Virtex6@100MHz) board for MAMS was constructed and designed using Verilog. We compared the processing time of the developed FPGA (100Mhz) and nVidia GeForce GTX 660 (980Mhz), the processing time using GTX 660 was not constant and suing MAMS was constant.

This paper presents 3D graphics lighting processor based on vector processing using pipeline chaining. The lighting process of 3D graphics rendering contains many arithmetic operations and its complexity is very high. For high throughput, proposed processor uses pipelined functional units. To implement fully pipelined architecture, we have to use many functional units. Hence, the number of functional units is restricted. However, with the restricted number of pipelined functional units, the utilization of the units is reduced and a resource reservation problem is caused. To resolve these problems, the proposed architecture uses vector processing using pipeline chaining. Due to its pipeline chaining based architecture, it can perform 4.09M vertices per 1 second with 100MHz frequency. The proposed 3D graphics lighting processor is compatible with OpenGL ES API and the design is implemented and verified on FPGA.

Computation steps for 3D graphic processing consist of two stages - fixed operation stage and programming required stage. Using this characteristic of 3D pipeline, a hybrid structure between graphics hardware designed by fixed structure and programmable hardware based on instructions, can handle graphic processing more efficiently. In this paper, fragment Shader is designed under this hybrid structure. It also supports OpenGL ES 2.0. Interior interface is optimized to reduce the delay of entire pipeline, which may be occurred by data I/O between the fixed hardware and the Shader. Interior register group of the Shader is designed by an interleaved structure to improve the register space and processing speed.

In this paper, we implemented and evaluated the performance of a vector-based rasterization algorithm of 3D graphics using a SIMD-based many-core processor that consists of 4,096 processing elements. In addition, we compared the performance and efficiency of the rasterization algorithm using the many-core processor and commercial GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) system which consists of 7 GPUs and each of which have 512 cores. Experimental results showed that the SIMD-based many-core processor outperforms the commercial GPU system in terms of execution time (3.13x speedup), energy efficiency (17.5x better), and area efficiency (13.3x better). These results demonstrate that the SIMD-based many-core processor has potential as an embedded mobile processor.

Since a hardware accelerator for 3D graphics processing GPU(Graphics Processing Unit)'s performance has been improving constantly. This is the efficient way was introduced for complex graphics application, but it is rarely used to utilize 100% resources on GPU. GP-GPU(general-purpose GPU), including operations on the GPU and supporting common operations can be handled by the processor, is noted by depending on the distribution of resources that can be effectively controlled. In this paper, the simulator was implemented that supports virtual environment of GP-GPU and available for program design and debugging. Through this, the co-design development environment support simultaneous design fast and reliable verification that are available to build the interface of three-dimensional graphics display.
The need of contents adaptation in ubiquitous environments is growing to support multiple target platforms for 3D graphics contents. Since 3D graphics deal with a large data set md a high performance, a service adaptation for context changing is required to manipulate graphics contents with a more complicated method in multiple devices such as desktops, laptops, PDAs, mobile phones, etc. In this paper, we suggest a new notion of service adaptation middleware based on service rendering algorithm, which provides a flexible and customized service for user-centric 3D graphics contents. The service adaptation middleware consists of Service Adaptation(SA) for analyzing environments and Service Rendering(SR) for reconfiguring customized services by processing customized data. These adaptation services are able to intelligently and dynamically support the same computer graphics contents with good quality, when user environments are changed.
We used graphics processing units for an efficient time-domain 3D wave propagation modeling. Since graphics processing units are designed for massively parallel processes, we need to optimize the calculation and memory management to fully exploit graphics processing units. We focused on the memory management and examined the performance of programs with respect to the memory management methods. We also tested the effects of memory transfer on the performance of the program by varying the order of finite difference equation and the size of velocity models. The results show that the memory transfer takes a larger portion of the running time than that of the finite difference calculation in programs transferring whole 3D wavefield.
In this paper, SIMT structure based GPGPU (General Purpose Computing on Graphics Processing Units) is used for accelerating the Rasterizer which constitutes the screen of the display device in pixel unit. The GPU has a large number of ALUs, and the processing is very fast because of parallel processing. Therefore, in this paper, we implemented a rasterizer that generates a 3D graphics model using a CPU that performs operations sequentially and a GPU that performs operations in parallel. We confirmed that proposed rasterizer in this paper is 1.45 times better than rasterizer using Intel CPU when generating one frame.

Recently, portable devices which require small area and low power consumption employ applications using 3D graphics such as 3D games and 3D graphical user interfaces. We propose an efficient clipping engine algorithm which is suitable in 3D graphics pipeline. The clipping operation is divided into two steps: one is the selection process in the transformation engine and the other is the pixel clipping process in the scan conversion unit. The clipping operation is possible with addition of simple comparator. The clipping for the Y-axis is achieved in the edge walk stage and that for the X and Z-axis is performed in the span processing. The proposed clipping algorithm reduces the operation cycles and the area of of 3D graphics pipelines. We designed a 3D graphics pipeline with the proposed clipping algorithm using Verilog-HDL and verifies the operation using an FPGA.
