  • Template has been widely used for hull forming process in most of shipyards. It is used to estimate the curvature of deformed shape in comparison with design shape. SHI (Samsung Heavy Industry) had used AutoKon system for ship manufacturing design in the past. The AutoKon used the global coordinate system of ship (frame, water line and so on) to create template data. It brought the mismatched angles between templates and a curved shell plate. The mismatched angle is measured by forming worker to place template on shell forming stage. However, the mismatched angle is difficult to place template with exactly required angle because the shell plates have various curvature and size. It causes incorrect shape of formed shell plates. The attached angle of template should be 90 degree to place template easily on forming shell plates. Currently, SHI has been applied GSCAD for ship manufacturing design process which is 3D solid modeling system. The GSCAD is the rule-based system which can automate 3D modeling and control the manufacturing data by rule. The rule can easily provide methods to create and automate template object with regular attached angle in comparison with AutoKon system. Therefore, SHI developed new template rule which it can automatically create template object with regular attached angle in GSCAD.

  • In recent years, as the number of ground subsidence has increased nationwide, the latest and usefulness of underground information for underground space development and underground safety management has become more important than ever. However, the 3D Underground Geospatial Map project, which started in 2015, has a problem with the manual-based long-term update system. This research paper overcomes these limitations and automatically updates the 3D CAD/GIS-based integrated management of underground structures that can be managed automatically from a full-cycle perspective of underground structure data management such as processing, transformation, updating, management, and visualization of 2D/3D underground structure data. If this technology is applied, it is possible to integrate processing and update management of the existing complex 3D construction logic of underground structures in one system, and it is expected that it can be used for underground space development and underground safety management as a foundation technology for automatic update of underground structures data.

  • This investigation reported the simulation technologies to design the 3-dimensional fabrics such as 3 dimensional multi-layered fabric, 3 dimensional braided fabric and spacer fabric. The simulation system or software has been actively used to develop products of 3 dimensional fabric which can be reduced development costs and time. Thus, many countries such as Japan, Germany, China, and U.K. show great interests on simulation technologies for developing new materials and processes including 3 dimensional fabric field. In this study, simulation systems have been reviewed for the 3 dimensional fabric design system from Mikawa Textile Research Center, Japan; ProCad and ProFab from Karl Mayer and Texion, Germany; xComposites from China; TexGen from Nottingham University, U.K.; TexPro from Young Woo CnI, Korea, respectively.

  • The purpose of this research was to utilize of Pattern Design System(P.D.S) by using AM-300 The conclusion were like these : 1. A coat of basic pattern was selected by design sketch. 2. The basic pattern was input into computer by digitizing. 3. The basic pattern was change into designed shape by using various skills. This system were enabled to draw straight lines, curves, delete lines, sections of lines, extend lines, cut pattern into sections, measure line or section reproduce whole pattern shape of section, rotate and mirror pattern and complete patterns. 4. Automatic grading of finished master pattern have been developed by creation and modification of grading rules of basic pattern. 5. Production pattern added seam allowance, not-ches was generated by P.D.S menu option. 6. Finished pattern design was plotted out 100% and 20% size by AM-300 Plotter. This results will be the basic materials to develop the CAD SYSTEM if some problems were improve. Furthermore, the utilization of P.D.S is expected to be developing in pattern making process.

  • This paper presents an automatic feature recognition system for recognizing and extracting feature information needed for the process planning input from a 3D CAD system. A given part is modeled by using the AutoCAD and feature information is automatically extracted from the AutoCAD database. The type of parts considered in this study is prismatic parts composed of faces perpendicular to the X, Y, Z axes and the types of features recognized by the proposed system are through steps, blind steps, through slots, blind slots, and pockets. Features are recognized by using the concept of convex points and concave points. Case studies are implemented to evaluate feasibilities of the function of the proposed system. The developed system is programmed by using Turbo Pascal on the IBM PC/AT on which the AutoCAD and the proposed system are implemented.

  • In order to manufacture functional and esthetic prostheses, it is essential to accurately transmit information about the patient's occlusal plane. In particular, in the case of a completely edentulous patient, the occlusal plane is very important to correctly support the soft tissue, to achieve aesthetic harmony with the facial appearance, and to properly pronounce it, and to form a balanced occlusal relationship for stable mastication. In the conventional method, various facebow systems were used to transmit patient's information from the clinic to the laboratory, but there were several limitations in the process of transferring them to CAD. To simplify this process, a prefabricated POP (PNUD Occlusal Plane) Bow system was recently developed. In this case, a CAD-CAM (Computer-aided design-computer-aided manufacturing) treatment dentures reflecting the patient's occlusal plane information was manufactured using the POP Bow system during the treatment of a completely edentulous patient, and aesthetic and functional satisfaction was obtained.

  • This study attempted to extract and structure the job skills required for 3D designers, which have been recently introduced to the fashion industry. The study aimed to materialize and objectify the 3D designer's job, using a focus group interview for the survey. The 3D designer has the TD task of making 3D virtual samples using the pattern files developed in Pattern CAD. Graphic design and fabric digitization are also major tasks for the 3D designer. CLO is mainly used for 3D virtual sample production, and PixPlant, Substance, Photoshop, Cinema 4D, Daz studio, and 3ds MAX are used for image and avatar editing. As per the job skills required for 3D design work, basic knowledge about patterns and sewing, skill in 3D virtual clothing technology, ability to use various software, and English skills were considered important, in that order. In particular, the need for knowledge about patterns and sewing became more important than the skill in 3D virtual clothing technology itself. To train 3D designers, it was found that not only 3D virtual clothing software, but also education on patterns and clothing construction, CAD developer's curriculum certification system, and 3D designer qualification management were required. In addition, 3D designers are recognized as an essential job in fashion vendors, and the demand for domestic brands is increasing. The biggest limitation of the 3D virtual clothing system is the perfection of the digital fabric. Also, technical improvement is needed.
