A Study of Analysis Methods on R&D Productivity Using Patent and Paper Analysis (특허 및 논문분석을 이용한 연구생산성 분석 기법에 관한 연구)

  • Global R&D environment is entering on more complicated aspect gradually and tends to increase sharply in a quantitative manner. Technology competition is getting higher. This study intends to raise recognition of a necessity of productivity in a rapidly-changing R&D field and to suggest alternatives for improving its research productivity. For it, the research productivity was analyzed by utilizing two processes of patent analysis and paper analysis. According to the analysis result, it can be confirmed that Korea has the low research productivity compared to advanced countries such as USA and Japan. Government-supported research institute showed the relatively low research productivity, compared to foreign research institutes. It is confirmed that the company research institute has better research productivity than the government-supported research institute. Analyzing the present situation of research productivity through such the patent and paper analysis, seems to contribute to suggest how the research must be done in order to identify the factor of hampering the competitiveness acquisition and to improve the future R&D productivity.

  • Recently, many researchers in the world are concentrated to develop the robot platform which is to reduce the developing cost by reusing existing softwares. In this paper, we describe that the 3 dimension recognition object components for OPRoS (Open Platform for Robotic Services) which is developed in Korea. We present that the structure of the component, disparity map and depth map algorithm for recognizing 3 dimension space. We used stereo matching and block matching method to produce the disparity map. We test the component on the computer with OPRoS platform and show the results of accuracy and performance time.

  • 반투명 물체(Translucent Object)는 불투명한 물체와는 달리 물체 내부에서 산란이 일어난다. 반투명 물체의 한 표면(Surface)을 렌더링하기 위해서는 그 표면의 정규 벡터뿐만 아니라 그 표면의 주변 기하 정보가 필요하다. 그러나 그래픽 하드웨어 구조는 반투명 물체의 실시간 렌더링의 구현에 많은 제약을 준다. 3D 기하 정보 대신에 라디언스 맵(Radiance map)과 깊이 맵(Depth map)과 같은 투영 영상(Projected Image)을 기반으로 하는 영상 공간 접근 방법(Image Space Approach)을 사용함으로써 GPU 상에서 반투명 재질을 실시간으로 표현할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 영상 공간 접근 방법(Image Space Approach)의 연장선에서 시점을 달리한 여러 장의 투영 영상을 이용함으로써 기존의 한 장의 투영 영상만을 이용한 방법이 가지고 있는 가시성 한계점을 해결한다. 또한 복수 투영 영상의 이용에 따른 계산량 증가에 의해서 손실된 프레임 속도(Frame Rate)에 대해 분석한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 이동로봇에 삼차원 레이저 스캐너를 장착하여 삼차원 데이터의 수집, 수집된 데이터의 정합, 데이터 수집을 위한 이동로봇의 경로계획 및 장애물 회피주행 등 모든 작업들을 유기적으로 결합시켜 실내 환경에 다한 삼차원 모델을 자율제작하는 시스템을 제안한다. 이를 위해 스캔순서최적화를 통한 빠른 동적 물체 정보의 제거, 계층적 육면체 맵과 기하학적맵을 이용한 최적 경로 예측에 의한 다음 스캐닝 위치의 결정, 오도미터 정보와 명암 정보를 이용해 수정된 ICP 알고리즘을 통한 데이터의 정합을 통하여 이동물체와 관계없는 실내환경에 대한 삼차원 모델의 자율복원 한다.

  • In 3D computer graphics, a depth map is an image that provides information related to the distance from the viewpoint to the subject's surface. Stereo sensors, depth cameras, and imaging systems using an active illumination system and a time-resolved detector can perform accurate depth measurements with their own light sources. The 3D image information obtained through the depth map is useful in 3D modeling, autonomous vehicle navigation, object recognition and remote gesture detection, resolution-enhanced medical images, aviation and defense technology, and robotics. In addition, the depth map information is important data used for extracting and restoring multi-view images, and extracting phase information required for digital hologram synthesis. This study is oriented toward a recent research trend in deep learning-based 3D data analysis methods and depth map information extraction technology using a convolutional neural network. Further, the study focuses on 3D image processing technology related to digital hologram and multi-view image extraction/reconstruction, which are becoming more popular as the computing power of hardware rapidly increases.

  • 본 논문에서는 가상현실을 이용해 청소체험을 3D 게임에 접목하여 재미와 교육을 함께 접목한 전 연령층을 대상으로 한 체감형 게임 콘텐츠를 개발하였다. 이 가상현실 3D 게임은 제한시간동안 맵에서 돌아다니는 몬스터 처치, 오염물질 정화를 하면서 점수를 획득 할 수 있다. 사용자는 전용 컨트롤러를 스마트폰과 블루투스 페어링을 하고 구글 카드보드를 장착하여 1인칭시점을 통해 게임을 조작할 수 있다. 이 가상현실 3D 게임 개발과 같이 향후 가상현실은 여행/군사/의료 등 다양한 분야에 적용이 되어, 사용자들은 보다 현실적인 체험을 할 수 있다.

A Methodology for Finding the Convergence Research Area by Measuring Convergence Index in Government Research Institutes (융합지수 측정을 통한 출연연 융합연구영역 발굴모형 연구)

  • In conjunction with securing R&D competitiveness through technology convergence, there is a growing interest in the strategy to derive innovation based on the measurement of convergence. In this paper, we present a data-based model that suggests convergence strategies for the research projects of government research institutes (GRIs) in Korea. The convergence characteristics of the research projects are represented by inherent attributes of technology and behavioral attributes of actors. The measuring process of the proxy variables (Rao-Stirling and Herfindahl-Hirschman Indices) for each attributes are proposed. These two indices are used to construct the convergence diagram, through which the research projects of GRIs are distributed into four areas: AllianceIntra, Alliance-Inter, Competition, Mission-Oriented. Based on the convergence diagram proposed in this study the convergence index is measured to derive 30 convergence research areas of GRIs. As a result, we expect to provide appropriate guidelines for setting the policy direction of the convergence research projects.

Bit-plane based Lossless Depth Map Coding Method (비트평면 기반 무손실 깊이정보 맵 부호화 방법)

  • This paper proposes a method for efficient lossless depth map coding for MPEG 3D-Video coding. In general, the conventional video coding method such as H.264 has been used for depth map coding. However, the conventional video coding methods do not consider the image characteristics of the depth map. Therefore, as a lossless depth map coding method, this paper proposes a bit-plane based lossless depth mar coding method by using the MPEG-4 Part 2 shape coding scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves the compression ratios of 28.91:1. In intra-only coding, proposed method reduces the bitrate by 24.84% in comparison with the JPEG-LS scheme, by 39.35% in comparison with the JPEG-2000 scheme, by 30.30% in comparison with the H.264(CAVLC mode) scheme, and by 16.65% in comparison with the H.264(CABAC mode) scheme. In addition, in intra and inter coding the proposed method reduces the bitrate by 36.22% in comparison with the H.264(CAVLC mode) scheme, and by 23.71% in comparison with the 0.264(CABAC mode) scheme.

A Study on 2D/3D Map Navigation System Based on Virtual Reality (VR 기반 2D/3D Map Navigation 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • This paper aims to build a 2D/3D map navigation that the user can efficiently operate in terms of feeding attribute information after securing 2D/3D space data. This system provides 2D/3D screen navigation that supports variety of operational visual effects and displays the location that the user is retrieving. Also it presents picture information of buildings with higher resolution and URL, name of store, phone number, other related information. Effectiveness of this system is as follows: first, development and distribution of a new technology of 2D/3D spatial database that changes the previous 2D/3D based system concept to the 2D/3D based one. Second, increase of developmental productivity by utilizing the integrated 2D/3D spatial database for developing various interfaces. Finally, it provides security of the preemptive technological position with world class domestic 2D/3D spatial database technologies.

Multi-Mode BTC Image Compression Algorithm for LCD Overdriving (LCD 오버드라이브를 위한 다중 모드 BTC 영상 압축 알고리즘)

  • BTC (Block Truncation Coding) image compression is simple to implement by hardware and has excellent edge retention capability of image, image compression techniques are widely used in LCD overdrive. In this paper, to maintain high visual quality and has high compression rate, Multi-Mode BTC (MM-BTC) algorithm is proposed. The MM-BTC has high compression rate using advanced Y-based BTC method and has high visual quality using improved 2-level and 4-level BTC method in this paper. As shown in simulation results, MM-BTC improves still image PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) up to 2.34 dB as compared with other algorithms. When the MM-BTC is applied to LCD overdrive, MM-BTC improves moving picture PSNR up to 2.33 dB as compared with other algorithms in literature.
