Design and Implementation of Serious Games for Dementia Prevention and Brain Training (치매 예방과 두뇌 훈련을 위한 기능성 게임 설계 및 구현)

  • As the world's population ages, the incidence of dementia is increasing, and the psychological and economic burden on patients and their families is becoming a major social issue. As a result, various solutions are being sought to prevent dementia. In this study, we designed and implemented a serious game consisting of three types of mini-games aimed at effective dementia prevention, and improved the limitations of existing dementia prevention serious games as follows. Firstly, by implementing the game in a 3D environment, we were able to provide users with an enhanced play environment and experience. Secondly, by implementing three different mini-games to choose from, we were able to provide users with a variety of fun and experiences, as well as a variety of brain training. Third, by providing game content that can train not only spatial or visual cognitive abilities, but also visual and auditory cognitive abilities in combination, we have improved the efficacy of improving users' cognitive ability and memory. Fourth, we made it more accessible to users by supporting cross-platform play on PC or mobile devices.

The Research of Single Fed Broadband Planar Array Antenna with Modified Stacked-Structure using Circular Polarization (변형된 적층구조를 갖는 단일급전방식의 광대역 평판형 배열안테나 연구)

  • This paper presents a wideband technique of impedance and axial-ratio bandwidth which uses the stacked planar array structure through optimum design of sub-polarization generating sections and parasitic patch. So, the effect of the dual-resonance characteristic can contribute to the bandwidth expansion of single fed planar array antenna using circular polarization which doesn\`t hire previous bandwidth expansion technique. The antenna can be used as a dual-band antenna by adjusting the resonance frequencies as well, and then the antenna is designed and fabricated in the frequency band of domestic satellite-TV service. This antenna has the performance of 9.7 % impedance bandwidth and 24 dBi of antenna gain. And it has also 2.8 % and 1.4 % of 3 dB Axial-ratio bandwidth at 11.4 GHz and 11.8 GHz respectively.

Development of Robot Performance Platform Interoperating with an Industrial Robot Arm and a Humanoid Robot Actor (산업용 로봇 Arm과 휴머노이드 로봇 액터를 연동한 로봇 공연 플랫폼 개발)

  • For the purpose of next generation technology for robot perfomances, a RAoRA (Robot Actor on Robot Arm) structure was proposed using a robot arm joined with a humanoid robot actor. Mechanical analysis, machine design and fabrication were performed for motions combined with the robot arm and the humanoid robot actor. Kinematical analysis for 3D model, spline interpolation of positions, motion control algorithm and control devices were developed for movements of the robot actor. Preliminary visualization, simulation tools and integrated operation of consoles were constructed for the non-professionals to produce intuitive and safe contents. Air walk was applied to test the developed platform. The air walk is a natural walk close to a floor or slow ascension to the air. The RAoRA also executed a performance with 5 minute-running time. Finally, the proposed platform of robot performance presented intensive and live motions which was impossible in conventional robot performances.

  • In this paper, we present a prototype of view-switchable high-definition (HD) multi-view video transmission system. One of the major bottlenecks for the multi-view broadcasting system has been the hardware cost and transmission bandwidth. The proposed system focuses on software-based design, transmission over IP multicast networks, and flexible system configuration to address aforementioned problems. In the proposed system, we implement software stereo HD multiplexing, demultipiexing and decoding, and take advantage of high-speed broadband convergence networks to deliver HD video in real-time. Moreover, the proposed system can be scalable and flexible in terms of the number of views. Furthermore, in order to display any multiview video on 3D display monitor, a face tracking system is integrated to our system. Therefore, users can watch the different stereoscopic video at its related locations.

Data Augmentation for Tomato Detection and Pose Estimation (토마토 위치 및 자세 추정을 위한 데이터 증대기법)

  • In order to automatically provide information on fruits in agricultural related broadcasting contents, instance image segmentation of target fruits is required. In addition, the information on the 3D pose of the corresponding fruit may be meaningfully used. This paper represents research that provides information about tomatoes in video content. A large amount of data is required to learn the instance segmentation, but it is difficult to obtain sufficient training data. Therefore, the training data is generated through a data augmentation technique based on a small amount of real images. Compared to the result using only the real images, it is shown that the detection performance is improved as a result of learning through the synthesized image created by separating the foreground and background. As a result of learning augmented images using images created using conventional image pre-processing techniques, it was shown that higher performance was obtained than synthetic images in which foreground and background were separated. To estimate the pose from the result of object detection, a point cloud was obtained using an RGB-D camera. Then, cylinder fitting based on least square minimization is performed, and the tomato pose is estimated through the axial direction of the cylinder. We show that the results of detection, instance image segmentation, and cylinder fitting of a target object effectively through various experiments.

  • In this paper, we presented a simple hologram recording set for learners to broaden their program choices and experience holographic techniques with lifelong education programs. In order to obtain quality 3D images, the quality of light sources and recording mediums, which are the main elements of hologram recording, must be good. In addition, due to the characteristics of the hologram, the ambient vibrations shall be minimized for accurate interference pattern recording. The simple hologram recording set presented in this paper has not significantly restricted in space and location, and anyone can easily experience it at a reasonable price compared to the existing hologram production method. Also, it can make two different type of hologram (transmission and reflection) for providing easy access to recording and reconstruction of the hologram. Experiments have shown that holographic manufacturing practices are a very useful way to educate the public on optics and photonics technologies.

Compact Branch-line Power Divider Using Connected Coupled-line Structure

  • In order to improve performance for the size of the BLPD, the CCL is used for the realization as the delay line. As realizing lower coupling coefficient and lower characteristic impedance, the CCL has good performance of the phase delay. The CCL is applied as the compact BLPD with optimized coupling factor and matched impedance because the lower coupling coefficient and lower characteristic impedance are increased the size and the loss, respectively. Designed BLPD using the CCL has the size of $0.13{\lambda}_g{\times}0.13{\lambda}_g$ and the size-reduction ratio of fabricated BLPD using the CCL has 58.5% ($21.08{\times}21.40mm^2$). Also, fabricated BLPD is measured the insertion loss of 3.16dB at the center frequency of 1.78GHz and the 20dB bandwidth is 9.58%. Differenced magnitude and phase between threw port and coupled port are measured 0.1dB and $89.9^{\circ}$, respectively. These performances are almost same compared with the conventional BLPD. Suggested application of the CCL can be used various devices and circuits for the size-reduction.

A Study on the Data Compression Algorithm for Just-in-Time Rendering of Concentric Mosaic (동심원 모자이크의 실시간 표현을 위한 데이터 압축 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • Concentric mosaics are made with arranging and summing of video frames by using common spacial standards. Compared with previous works on 3-D wavelet transform coding, we have made important design considerations to enable flexible partial decoding and bit-stream random access. A just-in-time(JIT) rendering engine of the compressed concentric mosaic is developed. However, computationally, it is still demanding to accomplish the real-time rendering. Only the contents for specific scene representation are need to be decoded by maintaining compressed data. Thus our proposed algorithm is able to render real concentric mosaic by using lifting scheme instead of wavelet transform.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for recognizing ground target using dual polarization channels in millimeter waveband air-to-surface radar. First, the Push-Broom target detection method is described and the received signal is modeled considering flight-path scenario of air-to-surface radar. The scattering centers were extracted using the RELAX algorithm, which is a time domain spectral estimation technique, and the feature vector of the target was generated. Based on this, a DB for 4 targets is constructed. As a result of the proposed method, it is confirmed that the target classification rates is improved by more than 15% than the single channel using the data of the dual polarization channel.

  • 본 논문에서는 아날로그 TV에서 사용되는 인터레이스 영상을 디지털 디바이스에서 보다 우수하게 출력하기 위해 새로운 디인터레이싱 알고리듬을 제안 한다. 기존의 에지 기반의 라인 평균 방법의 경우 제한된 방향의 화소단위 상관도를 이용하기 때문에 잡음과 계조도 변화에 취약하였다. 또한 공간적 방향 벡터를 사용한 DOI방법은 영상 내 수평 에지가 강한 영역을 보간하는데 우수하지만 좌우 넓은 검색 영역으로 인한 잡음에 취약한 단점이 있었다. ED4D는 에지기반 라인 평균 방법과 공간적 방향 벡터를 적절히 사용하여 규칙적 에지 특성을 갖는 영역에 대한 에지 방향의 정확도를 높였다. 하지만, 참조 방향 및 화소 보간의 판별 기준이 $3{\times}2$ 윈도우로 고정되어 있기 때문에 초기 방향성 판단 기준과 수평 방향 에지 검출에 있어 정밀도가 떨어지는 문제점을 안고 있다. 제안하는 방법은 기존에 사용하던 $3{\times}2$ 윈도우에 $5{\times}2$ 윈도우를 추가적으로 적용하여 초기 방향성 판단 기준을 더 섬세하게 하였으며, 변형된 공간적 방향 벡터를 사용하여 넓은 검색영역으로 인한 잡음의 간섭을 줄였다. 실험결과를 통하여 제안한 방법이 기존의 방법에 비해 주관적 화질뿐만 아니라 객관적인 성능도 우수함을 알 수 있다.
