A novel higher-order shear deformation theory for bending and free vibration analysis of isotropic and multilayered plates and shells

  • In this work, the bending and free vibration analysis of multilayered plates and shells is presented by utilizing a new higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT). The proposed involves only four unknowns, which is even less than the first shear deformation theory (FSDT) and without requiring the shear correction coefficient. Unlike the conventional HSDTs, the present one presents a novel displacement field which incorporates undetermined integral variables. The equations of motion are derived by using the Hamilton's principle. These equations are then solved via Navier-type, closed form solutions. Bending and vibration results are found for cylindrical and spherical shells and plates for simply supported boundary conditions. Bending and vibration problems are treated as individual cases. Panels are subjected to sinusoidal, distributed and point loads. Results are presented for thick to thin as well as shallow and deep shells. The computed results are compared with the exact 3D elasticity theory and with several other conventional HSDTs. The proposed HSDT is found to be precise compared to other several existing ones for investigating the static and dynamic response of isotropic and multilayered composite shell and plate structures.

굽힘 하중을 받는 하니컴 샌드위치 복합재료의 변형 및 파괴 해석 (Deformation and Fracture Analysis of Honeycomb Sandwich Composites under Bending Loading)

  • 본 연구에서는 3점 굽힘 실험과 코어의 실제 형상을 모델링한 유한요소 시뮬레이션을 병행하여 외피층의 항복, 층간분리 코어의 전단 및 국부적 좌굴과 같은 다양한 파손모드를 고려한 하니컴 샌드위치 복합재료의 강도 특성과 변형거동을 검토하였다. 외피층과 하니컴 코어층 사이를 완전 접착한 시험편과 부분 층간분리 시험편을 대상으로 하니컴 코어의 셀 크기와 외피층 두께를 변화시켜 시험편의 굽힘 강성, 굽힘 강도. 굽힘 응력, 변형 및 파손 거동을 해석하였다. 결론적으로 하니컴 코어의 셀 크기와 외피층의 두께가 하니컴 샌드위치 복합재료의 굽힘 강성과 강도, 변형/파괴 거동에 주된 영향을 미쳤으며 코어의 셀 크기가 크고 외피층의 두께가 얇은 경우 굽힘 강도는 $30\~68\%$ 정도까지 저하됨을 알 수 있었다.

  • 선박의 최종굽힘 모멘트는 설계에 적용되는 주요강도로써 이를 추정하는 여러방법들이 제안되었는데, 판과 보강재로 이루어진 구조요소의 압축 최종강도에 대한 추징에서 시작되는 것이 일반적이다. 본 논문에서는 최종굽힘 모멘트를 구하기 위해 보강판의 압축 강도추정을 지금까지 제안된 여러가지 방법을 정리하여 소개하고, 실선 설계에 적용될 수 있는 유용성 측면에서 검토하였다. 그 결과를 이용하여 3척의 살물선에 대한 신뢰성 해석을 수행하였다. 선박에 작용하는 파랑굽힘 모멘트는 선급규정에 의해 계산하였다. 본 연구의 신뢰성 해석 문제는 안전여유식의 형태가 비선형임을 고려하여 Advanced First-Order Reliability Method를 이용하였다. 몇가지의 해석예로부터 선체구조의 신뢰성 검토측면에서 최종강도 추정방법을 비교하였다.

GFRP 도어 임팩트 빔과 Steel 브래킷의 기계적 결합에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Mechanical Mounting between GFRP Door Impact Beam and Steel Brackets)

  • The mounting performance of the GFRP(Glass fiber Reinforced Plastic) beam and the mechanical mounting of the steel bracket was studied to be mounted as a GFRP impact beam on the side door of the passenger car. Moreover, an open-hole tensile test was performed to evaluate breakage tendency based on GFRP stacking conditions. Furthermore, the tightening strength of rivets and bolts was compared using the single lap-shear tension test for the GFRP stacking pattern. Additionally, the GFRP beam and bracket mounting features were designed; moreover, the prototype and bracket were assembled. Additionally, the bracket mounting bending test and the door assembly static bending test were performed to verify the stability of the bracket mounting. In the bracket fastening bending test, no breakage occurred in the connection part between the GFRP beam and the bracket, and it showed 67% (24.4 kN) improved performance compared to steel. In the static bending test of the door assembly, the initial average reaction force increased by 25% compared to the steel, and the performance of all FMVSS-214 regulations was satisfied. The replacement of GFRP impact beams resulted in a 30% weight reduction

나노허니컴 구조물의 인장 및 굽힘 물성 측정 (Measurement of Tensile and Bending Properties of Nanohoneycomb Structures)

  • 나노허니컴 구조물의 영률, 굽힘 탄성 계수. 공칭파괴강도를 구하였다. 양극산화 알루미늄은 잘 정렬된 나노허니컴 구조물의 일종으로서 공정이 간단하고, 높은 종횡비, 자가 정렬된 기공구조를 가지고 있고, 기공의 크기를 조절할 수 있다. 원자현미경으로 외팔보 굽힘 시험을 수행하였고 나노-UTM을 이용한 3점 굽힘 실험결과와 비교하였다. 또한 나노-UTM으로 인장시험을 수행하였다. 나노허니컴 구조물의 한쪽 면은 막혀 있어서, 일반적인 샌드위치 구조물의 면재에 비유될 수 있다. 하지만 이러한 막힌 면은 굽힘 강도 증가에 영향을 끼치지 못하고 균열선단으로 작용한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구로 나노허니컴 구조물을 설계하는데 기초적인 물성을 제공하고자 한다.

  • Concrete micro-cracks that are grown while the structures are under construction or in service, propagate gradually or rapidly by external forces and environmental effects. As described above, almost concrete structures generally have cracks, so for the safety and durability of structures, studies to detect cracks using nondestructive tests have been treated in great deal. The purpose of this study is to evaluate characteristics of AE signals detected from notched concrete beams bending test with different loading using one of nondestructive test, Acoustic Emission (AE) method. Furthermore this study predicts the location of initial crack and measures direction of crack propagation for on-line monitoring before the crack really grows in structures by using two-dimensional AE source location based on rectangular method with three-point bending test. This will allow efficient maintenance of concrete structures through monitoring of internal cracking based on acoustic emission method.

Damage and stiffness research on steel shape steel fiber reinforced concrete composite beams

  • In this work, an experimental research has been performed on Steel Fiber-Steel Reinforced Concrete (SFSRC)specimens subjected to four-point bending tests to evaluate the feasibility of mutual replacement of steel fibers and conventional reinforcement through studying failure modes, load-deflection curves, stiffness of characteristic points, stiffness degradation curves and damage analysis. The variables considered in this experiment included steel fiber volume percentage with and without conventional reinforcements (stirrups or steel fibers) with shear span depth ratios of S/D=2.5 and 3.5. Experimental results revealed that increasing the volume percentage of steel fiber decreased the creation and propagation of shear and bond cracks, just like shortening the stirrups spacing. Higher crack resistance and suturing ability of steel fiber can improve the stability of its bearing capacity. Both steel fibers and stirrups improved the stiffness and damage resistance of specimens where stirrups played an essential role and therefore, the influence of steel fibers was greatly weakened. Increasing S/D ratio also weakened the effect of steel fibers. An equation was derived to calculate the bending stiffness of SFSRC specimens, which was used to determine mid span deflection; the accuracy of the proposed equation was proved by comparing predicted and experimental results.

  • 최근에 복합재료는 콘크리트, 집성보와 같은 기존의 구조재를 보강하여 성능을 향상시킬 목적으로 적용되고 있다. 특히, 대규모의 집성보 구조물은 춤이 큰 부재를 필요로 하는데 섬유보강판을 이용하여 보의 상하부를 보강하면 춤을 크게 하지 않고도 보의 강도와 강성을 증가시킬 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 집성보에 유리섬유보강 플라스틱판(GFRP)을 붙여 스팬 중앙에 집중하중을 가한 휨실험을 수행하였고 실험결과를 층간이론을 이용한 수치해석법과 비교하였다.

In-Situ SEM Observation and DIC Strain Analysis for Deformation and Cracking of Hot-Dip ZnMgAl Alloy Coating

  • An attempt was made to apply digital image correlation (DIC) strain analysis to in-situ scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations of bending deformation to quantify local strain distribution inside a ZnMgAl-alloy coating in deformation. Interstitial-free steel sheets were hot-dipped in a Zn-3Mg-6Al (mass%) alloy melt at 400 ℃ for 2 s. The specimens were deformed using a miniature-sized 4-point bending test machine inside the SEM chamber. The observed in situ SEM images were used for DIC strain analysis. The hot-dip ZnMgAl-alloy coating exhibited a solidification microstructure composed of a three-phase eutectic of fine Al (fcc), Zn (hcp), and Zn2Mg phases surrounding the primary solidified Al phases. The relatively coarsened Zn2Mg phases were locally observed inside the ZnMgAl-alloy coating. The DIC strain analysis revealed that the strain was localized in the primary solidified Al phases and fine eutectic microstructure around the Zn2Mg phase. The results indicated high deformability of the multi-phase microstructure of the ZnMgAl-alloy coating.

선박 공조닥트의 특성분석에 관한 사례 연구 - 유지관리용 로봇의 이동 알고리즘 개발을 위한 분석 - (A Case Study on the Analysis of Characteristics of Marine HVAC Duct - For the Development of Maintenance Robot's Movement Algorithm -)

  • This study is focused on the analysis of the characteristics of marine HVAC duct. These results will be applied to develope a robot which is for maintaining a cabin comfort, convenience and healthy through HVAC duct. The followings are the results of this study. (1) The evaluated items which proposed by at the view point of robot's function can be adapted to other vessels for the same purpose, (2) For the case of round type duct. the maximized conditions which robot has to have are straight length of 40.152mm, inclination of $45^{\circ}$. horizontal bending of $90^{\circ}$. increasing diameter of 1.28 times, and 0.625 times decreasing diameter in branch. (3) For the case of rectangular type duct. the maximized conditions are straight length of 15.987mm. aspect ratio of 4.17:1, inclination of $18.92^{\circ}$. horizontal bending of $90^{\circ}$, and 0.65 times decreasing diameter in branch.
