  • A method of estimating the pose of a three-dimensional object from a set of two-dimensioal images based on parametric eigenspace method is proposed. A Gaussian blurred edge image is used as an input image instead of the original image itself as has been used previously. The set of input images is compressed using K-L transformation. By comparing the estimation errors for the original, blurred original, edge, and blurred edge images, we show that blurring with the Gaussian function and the use of edge images enhance the data compression ratio and decrease the resulting from smoothing the trajectory in the parametric eigenspace, thereby allowing better pose estimation to be achieved than that obtainable using the original images as it is. The proposed method is shown to have improved efficiency, especially in cases with occlusion, position shift, and illumination variation. The results of the pose angle estimation show that the blurred edge image has the mean absolute errors of the pose angle in the measure of 4.09 degrees less for occlusion and 3.827 degrees less for position shift than that of the original image.

  • To create a more realistic soccer game derived from TV images, we are developing an image synthesis system that generates 3D image sequence from TV images. We propose the method for the team and the pose recognition of players in TV images. The representation includes camera calibration method, team recognition method and pose recognition method. To find the location of a player on the field, a field model is constructed and a player's field position is transformed by 4-feature points. To recognize the team information of players, we compute RGB mean values and standard deviations of a player in TV images. Finally, to recognize pose of a player, this system computes the velocity and the ratio of player(height/width). Experimental results are included to evaluate the performance of the team and the pose recognition.

  • In this paper. we Present an estimation method of a face pose by using two camera images. First, it finds corresponding facial feature points of eyebrow, eye and lip from two images After that, it computes three dimensional location of the facial feature points by using the triangulation method of stereo vision techniques. Next. it makes a triangle by using the extracted facial feature points and computes the surface normal vector of the triangle. The surface normal of the triangle represents the direction of the face. We applied the computed face pose to display a 3D face model. The experimental results show that the proposed method extracts correct face pose.

  • A manifold is used to represent a relationship between high-dimensional data samples in low-dimensional space. In human pose estimation, it is created in low-dimensional space for processing image and 3D body configuration data. Manifold learning is to build a manifold. But it is vulnerable to silhouette variations. Such silhouette variations are occurred due to view-change, person-change, distance-change, and noises. Representing silhouette variations in a single manifold is impossible. In this paper, we focus a silhouette variation problem occurred by view-change. In previous view invariant pose estimation methods based on manifold learning, there were two ways. One is modeling manifolds for all view points. The other is to extract view factors from mapping functions. But these methods do not support one by one mapping for silhouettes and corresponding body configurations because of unsupervised learning. Modeling manifold and extracting view factors are very complex. So we propose a method based on triple manifolds. These are view manifold, pose manifold, and body configuration manifold. In order to build manifolds, we employ biased manifold learning. After building manifolds, we learn mapping functions among spaces (2D image space, pose manifold space, view manifold space, body configuration manifold space, 3D body configuration space). In our experiments, we could estimate various body poses from 24 view points.

  • In this paper, a small and effective attitude estimation system for a humanoid robot was developed. Four small inertial sensors were packed and used for inertial measurements(3D accelerometer and three 1D gyroscopes.) An effective 3D pose estimation algorithm for low cost DSP using an extended Kalman filter was developed and evaluated. The 3D pose estimation algorithm has a very simple structure composed by 3 modules of a linear acceleration estimator, an external acceleration detector and an pseudo-accelerometer output estimator. The algorithm also has an effective switching structure based on probability and simple feedback loop for the extended Kalman filter. A special test equipment using linear motor for the testing of the 3D pose sensor was developed and the experimental results showed its very fast convergence to real values and effective responses. Popular DSP of TMS320F2812 was used to calculate robot's 3D attitude and translated acceleration, and the whole system were packed in a small size for humanoids robots. The output of the 3D sensors(pitch, roll, 3D linear acceleration, and 3D angular rate) can be transmitted to a humanoid robot at 200Hz frequency.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new approach for real-time 3D face pose discrimination based on active IR illumination from a monocular view of the camera. Under the IR illumination, the pupils appear bright. We develop algorithms for efficient and robust detection and tracking pupils in real time. Based on the geometric distortions of pupils under different face orientations, an eigen eye feature space is built based on training data that captures the relationship between 3D face orientation and the geometric features of the pupils. The 3D face pose for an input query image is subsequently classified using the eigen eye feature space. From the experiment, we obtained the range of results of discrimination from the subjects which close to the camera are from 94,67%, minimum from 100%, maximum.

  • We propose a fall recognition system using the Pose Detection of Google ML kit using video data. Using the Pose detection algorithm, 33 three-dimensional feature points extracted from the body are used to recognize the fall. The algorithm that recognizes the fall by analyzing the extracted feature points uses k-NN. While passing through the normalization process in order not to be influenced in the size of the human body within the size of image and image, analyzing the relative movement of the feature points and the fall recognizes, thirteen of the thriteen test videos recognized the fall, showing an 100% success rate.

  • In this paper, 3D face recognition system is designed by using polynomial based on RBFNNs. In case of 2D face recognition, the recognition performance reduced by the external environmental factors such as illumination and facial pose. In order to compensate for these shortcomings of 2D face recognition, 3D face recognition. In the preprocessing part, according to the change of each position angle the obtained 3D face image shapes are changed into front image shapes through pose compensation. the depth data of face image shape by using Multiple Point Signature is extracted. Overall face depth information is obtained by using two or more reference points. The direct use of the extracted data an high-dimensional data leads to the deterioration of learning speed as well as recognition performance. We exploit principle component analysis(PCA) algorithm to conduct the dimension reduction of high-dimensional data. Parameter optimization is carried out with the aid of PSO for effective training and recognition. The proposed pattern classifier is experimented with and evaluated by using dataset obtained in IC & CI Lab.

  • The technology of Three-dimensional human posture estimation is used in sports, motion recognition, and special effects of video media. Among various methods for this, multi-view 3D human pose estimation is essential for precise estimation even in complex real-world environments. But Existing models for multi-view 3D human posture estimation have the disadvantage of high order of time complexity as they use 3D feature maps. This paper proposes a method to extend an existing monocular viewpoint multi-frame model based on Transformer with lower time complexity to 3D human posture estimation for multi-viewpoints. To expand to multi-viewpoints our proposed method first generates an 8-dimensional joint coordinate that connects 2-dimensional joint coordinates for 17 joints at 4-vieiwpoints acquired using the 2-dimensional human posture detector, CPN(Cascaded Pyramid Network). This paper then converts them into 17×32 data with patch embedding, and enters the data into a transformer model, finally. Consequently, the MLP(Multi-Layer Perceptron) block that outputs the 3D-human posture simultaneously updates the 3D human posture estimation for 4-viewpoints at every iteration. Compared to Zheng[5]'s method the number of model parameters of the proposed method was 48.9%, MPJPE(Mean Per Joint Position Error) was reduced by 20.6 mm (43.8%) and the average learning time per epoch was more than 20 times faster.

  • Recently, the in-line vision inspection has become the subject of growing research area in the visual control systems and robotic intelligent fields that are required exact three-dimensional pose. The objective of this article is to study the pc based in line visual inspection with the hand-eye structure. This paper suggests three dimensional structured light measuring principle and design method of laser sensor header. The hand-eye laser sensor have been studied for a long time. However, it is very difficult to perform kinematical analysis between laser sensor and robot because the complicated mathematical process are needed for the real environments. In this problem, this paper will propose auto-calibration concept. The detail process of this methodology will be described. A new thinning algorithm and constrained hough transform method is also explained in this paper. Consequently, the developed in-line inspection module demonstrate the successful operation with hole, gap, width or V edge.
