3D Indoor Positioning System Based on Smartphone (스마트폰 기반의 3차원 실내위치 인식)

  • For providing personalized intelligent services to users, 3 dimensional indoor positioning technology to recognize the position of person and equipment becomes important. In this paper, the acoustic signal generated from the proliferated smart phone is received from the 5 microphones equipped in the front panel of 3D positioning system, and the two proposed methods estimate the 3D coordinate of the smart phone, and finally it is verified using the implemented experimental system.

  • This paper described design and implementation of stereo vision system, and also, proposed method for displacement estimation of 3-D moving object using this system. The extraction of moving object is obtained by difference image algorithm. Geometrical position of 3-D moving object is calculated form the mapping of center area of two's 2-D object. 3-D coordinate position produced space depth, moving velociity, distance, moving track and proved displacement estimation of 3-D moving object.

Three Dimensional Geometric Feature Detection Using Computer Vision System and Laser Structured Light (컴퓨터 시각과 레이저 구조광을 이용한 물체의 3차원 정보 추출)

  • An algorithm to extract the 3-D geometric information of a static object was developed using a set of 2-D computer vision system and a laser structured lighting device. As a structured light pattern, multi-parallel lines were used in the study. The proposed algorithm was composed of three stages. The camera calibration, which determined a coordinate transformation between the image plane and the real 3-D world, was performed using known 6 pairs of points at the first stage. Then, utilizing the shifting phenomena of the projected laser beam on an object, the height of the object was computed at the second stage. Finally, using the height information of the 2-D image point, the corresponding 3-D information was computed using results of the camera calibration. For arbitrary geometric objects, the maximum error of the extracted 3-D feature using the proposed algorithm was less than 1~2mm. The results showed that the proposed algorithm was accurate for 3-D geometric feature detection of an object.

  • A terrain is an essential element for constructing a virtual world in which game characters and objects make various interactions with one another. Creating a terrain requires a great deal of time and repetitive editing processes. This paper presents a 3D terrain reconstruction system to create 3D terrain in virtual space based on real terrain data. In this system, it converts the coordinate system of the height maps which are generated from a stereo camera and a laser scanner from global GPS into 3D world using the x and z axis vectors of the global GPS coordinate system. It calculates the movement vectors and the rotation matrices frame by frame. Terrain meshes are dynamically generated and rendered in the virtual areas which are represented in an undirected graph. The rendering meshes are exactly created and updated by correcting terrain data errors. In our experiments, the FPS of the system was regularly checked until the terrain was reconstructed by our system, and the visualization quality of the terrain was reviewed. As a result, our system shows that it has 3 times higher FPS than other terrain management systems with Quadtree for small area, improves 40% than others for large area. The visualization of terrain data maintains the same shape as the contour of real terrain. This system could be used for the terrain system of realtime 3D games to generate terrain on real time, and for the terrain design work of CG Movies.

  • In this paper, a method for camera position estimation in gasher using elechoendoscopic image sequence is proposed. In orders to obtain proper image sequences, the gasser in divided into three sections. It Is presented thats camera position modeling for 3D information extvac lion and image distortion due to the endoscopic lenses is corrected. The feature points are represented with respect to the reference coordinate system below 10 percents error rate. The faster distortion correction algorithm is proposed in this paper. This algorithm uses error table which is faster than coordinate transform method using n -th order polynomials.

  • This paper presents a novel real-time rendering algorithm based on spherical coordinate system of the object using convex hull. While OpenGL rendering pipeline touches all vertices of an object, the proposed method takes account the only visible vertices by examining the visible triangles of the object. In order to determine the visible areas of the object in its spherical coordinate representation, the proposed method uses 3D geometric relation of 6 plane equations of the camera frustum and the bounding sphere of the object. In addition, we compute the convex hull of the object and its maximum side factors for hidden surface removal. Simulation results showed that the quality of result image is almost same compared to original image and rendering performance is greatly improved.

  • Nowadays, the Surveying field is growing rapidly in terms of technology such as TS(Total Station) surveying, photographic surveying, digital aerial photogrammetry, utilization of GIS(Geographic Information System) using high-resolution satellite imagery, obtaining 3D Coordinate using GPS. But control point surveying, benchmark measuring, and field Surveying are still performed by the engineers in the field. So, 3D yerrestrial laser scanner comes to the fore recently. 3D terrestrial laser scanner can get 3D coordinate about a number of sites of the subject in a short period with high accuracy. This paper compared the accuracy of data from the performance using 3D terrestrial laser scanner with that of TS. It also obtained the geopositioning accuracy result equivalent to the surveying result of TS. With further researches in the future, it is expected to be used not only in LiDAR itself but also in various areas like reconnaissance Surveying and construction by combining with TS or other Surveying equipments.

Estimation of Manhattan Coordinate System using Convolutional Neural Network (합성곱 신경망 기반 맨하탄 좌표계 추정)

  • In this paper, we propose a system which estimates Manhattan coordinate systems for urban scene images using a convolutional neural network (CNN). Estimating the Manhattan coordinate system from an image under the Manhattan world assumption is the basis for solving computer graphics and vision problems such as image adjustment and 3D scene reconstruction. We construct a CNN that estimates Manhattan coordinate systems based on GoogLeNet [1]. To train the CNN, we collect about 155,000 images under the Manhattan world assumption by using the Google Street View APIs and calculate Manhattan coordinate systems using existing calibration methods to generate dataset. In contrast to PoseNet [2] that trains per-scene CNNs, our method learns from images under the Manhattan world assumption and thus estimates Manhattan coordinate systems for new images that have not been learned. Experimental results show that our method estimates Manhattan coordinate systems with the median error of $3.157^{\circ}$ for the Google Street View images of non-trained scenes, as test set. In addition, compared to an existing calibration method [3], the proposed method shows lower intermediate errors for the test set.

  • In this paper, we propose a rigid body tracking method in 3D space using 2D passive marker images from multiple motion capture cameras. First, a calibration process using a chess board is performed to obtain the internal variables of individual cameras, and in the second calibration process, the triangular structure with three markers is moved so that all cameras can observe it, and then the accumulated data for each frame is calculated. Correction and update of relative position information between cameras. After that, the three-dimensional coordinates of the three markers were restored through the process of converting the coordinate system of each camera into the 3D world coordinate system, the distance between each marker was calculated, and the difference with the actual distance was compared. As a result, an error within an average of 2mm was measured.

  • We propose an image based three-dimensional shape determination system. The shape, and thus the three-dimensional coordinate information of the 3-D object, is determined solely from captured images of the 3-D object from a prescribed set of viewpoints. The approach is based on the shape from silhouette (SFS) technique and the efficacy of the SFS method is tested using a sample data set. This system may be used to visualize the 3-D object efficiently, or to quickly generate initial CAD data for reverse engineering purposes. The proposed system potentially may be used in three dimensional design applications such as 3-D animation and 3-D games.
