In this study, Among the electromagnetic induction power generation (EMG) techniques, the design specifications of the RFPM were set, and a suitable test prototype was manufactured through finite element analysis (FEM, 2D) required for characteristic calculation. In addition, a dedicated testing device (Dynamo-Tester) was designed and manufactured to measure and analyze the test prototype. The test product was measured with a test device and the result is analyzed to suggest a method that can be applied by generating as much output power as possible to charge the battery of the wearable IT device using actual kinetic energy of the human body. As a result of the test, the output power was 1.679W and the efficiency was 79.31% under the conditions of rotation speed of 780.9rpm, torque of 0.264kgf/cm, and load current of 73.6~73.9mA. Therefore, it was analyzed that it was possible to charge the wearable device with the output of the ultra-small RFPM pendulum generator.

Soft magnetic composite (SMC) materials based on powder metallurgy have a number of advantages over the conventional electrical steel sheets commonly used in electric machines. Thus, technologies related to these materials have shown significant improvement in recent years. In general, SMCs are magnetically isotropic owing to the shape of the powder, which makes them suitable for the construction of electric machines with three-dimensional flux and complex structures. However, the materials with isotropic magnetic properties (such as SMCs) have complex vector hysteresis; thus, it is very difficult to predict accurate loss properties. Therefore, we manufactured ring-type specimens of electrical steel sheets and SMC, which analyzed their magnetic properties according to the specimen size, and performed the electromagnetic field analysis of a high-speed permanent magnet (PM) motor driven at 800 Hz or higher using the measured magnetic information to compare the core loss of the motor. The reliability of this paper has been verified by measuring the efficiency after manufacturing the motor.

In this paper, a new MDAS-DR antenna structure designed to efficiently shape a flat-topped radiation pattern is proposed. The antenna structure is composed of a stacked micro-strip patch exciter and a multi-layered disk array structure(MDAS) surrounded by a dielectric ring. The MDAS, which was supplied by a stacked microstrip patch exciter with radiating power, can form a flat-topped radiation pattern in a far field by a mutual interaction with the surrounding dielectric ring. Therefore, the design parameters of the dielectric ring and the MDAS structure are important design parameters for shaping a flat-topped radiation pattern. The proposed antenna used twelve multi-layered disk array elements and a Teflon material with a dielectric constant of 2.05. An antenna operated at 10 GHz$(9.6\sim10.4\;GHz)$ was designed in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed antenna structure. The commercial simulator of CST Microwave $Studio^{TM}$, which was adapted to a 3-D antenna structure analysis, was used for the simulation. The antenna breadboard was also fabricated and its electrical performance was measured in an anechoic antenna chamber. The measured results of the antenna breadboard with a flat-topped radiation pattern were found to be in good agreement with the simulated one. The MDAS-DR antenna gain measured at 10 GHz was 11.18 dBi, and the MDAS-DR antenna was capable of shaping a good flat-topped radiation pattern with a beam-width of about $40^{\circ}$, at least within a fractional bandwidth of 8.0 %.
In this paper, we have proposed a magnetic resonant 6.78MHz WPT(wireless power transfer) technique which can be applied to a fixed transmitter and a receiver of varying relative distance and coil alignment, Power transmission characteristics are studied with the relative distance and misalignment ration of coil area between the transmitting and receiving coils. The coils are designed with the size of 60×80mm2 by direct feeding method, and the characteristics are derived with the maximum relative distance of 50mm and horizontal area misalignment state of 0-40mm misalignment of coil center axis in the XY plane. The power transmission characteristics are compared between the 3D EM simulation and the measured data, and the power transmission shows larger than -3dB performance with the vertical distance of up to 30mm and 50% area misalignmment ratio. This work showsthe transmission characteristics according to relative distance and misalignment state between the cols and that direct feeding has advantage for the short relative distance and small misalignment ratio.

The complicated facilities on the ground have begun to be laid under the ground as increasing emphasis on the beauty of cities due to centralization. But, as the kind of the facilities have been concentrated on the narrow area, accidents occur due to the difficulty of maintenance and the inaccuracy of location information. In this study, first we constructed the field test model to compare with the method of underground probing. So, we could know that the electromagnetic induction method and GPR(Ground Penetration Radar) are useful. It was acquired the position information for the underground facilities using a RTK-GPS. As the result, we have analyzed the accurate position of the underground facility and show the way improving accuracy in detecting and surveying comparing with the traditional surveying method. Also, we hope to contribute the effective maintenance and prevention of disasters to the underground facility as using underground facilities 3D position with Arcview and building the DB of exact depth and underground facilities information system.
The stealth technology can increase the survivability of aircrafts or warships and enhance the capability of mission completion in hostile territory. The purpose of this paper is to present the low observable structure with curved surfaces made by fiber-reinforced composites and to show the possibility of developing omnidirectional stealth platforms for military applications. In this study, we developed a radar absorbing structures(RAS) based on a circuit analog absorber to reduce the radar cross section(RCS) of an object with curved surfaces. Firstly, the RAS with a periodic square patterned conducting polymer layer was designed and simulated using a commercial 3-D electromagnetic field analysis program. Secondly, the designed semi-cylindrical structure with low RCS was fabricated using fiber-reinforced composites and conducting polymer. To make the periodic pattern layer, acts as resistive sheet, the intrinsic conducting polymer paste containing PEDOT with a polyurethane binder was used. Finally, the radar cross section was measured to evaluate the radar absorbing performances of the fabricated RAS by the compact range facility in POSTECH.

Signals captured from a Combo calibration standard tube paly a crucial role in the evaluation of motorized rotating pancake coil (MRPC) probe signals from steam generator (SG) tubes in nuclear power plants (NPPs). Therefore, the Combo tube signals should be consistent and accurate. However, MRPC probe signals are very easily affected by various factors around the tubes so that they can be distorted in their amplitudes and phase angles which are the values specifically used in the evaluation. To overcome this problem, in this study, we explored possibility of simulation to be used as a practical calibration tool far the evaluation of real field signals. For this purpose, we investigated the characteristics of a MRPC probe and a Combo tube. And then using commercial software (VIC-3D) we simulated a set of calibration signals and compared to the experimental signals. From this comparison, we verified the accuracy of the simulated signals. Finally, we evaluated two defects using the simulated Combo tube signals, and the results were compared with those obtained using the actual field calibration signals.
The complex resistivity method is an exploration technique that can obtain various characteristic information of underground media by measuring resistivity and phase in the frequency domain, and its utilization has recently increased. In this paper, a three-dimensional inversion algorithm for the CR data was developed to increase the utilization of this method. The Poisson equation, which can be applied when the electromagnetic coupling effect is ignored, was applied to the modeling, and the inversion algorithm was developed by modifying the existing algorithm by adopting comlex variables. In order to increase the stability of the inversion, a technique was introduced to automatically adjust the Lagrangian multiplier according to the ratio of the error vector and the model update vector. Furthermore, to compensate for the loss of data due to noisy phase data, a two-step inversion method that conducts inversion iterations using only resistivity data in the beginning and both of resistivity and phase data in the second half was developed. As a result of the experiment for the synthetic data, stable inversion results were obtained, and the validity to real data was also confirmed by applying the developed 3D inversion algorithm to the analysis of field data acquired near a hydrothermal mine.

We investigate experimentally and theoretically the splitting of surface plasmon (SP) resonance peaks under TE- and TM-polarized illumination. The SP structure at infrared wavelength is fabricated with a 2-dimensional square periodic array of circular holes penetrating through Au (gold) film. In brief, the processing steps to fabricate the SP structure are as follows. (i) A standard optical lithography was performed to produce to a periodic array of photoresist (PR) circular cylinders. (ii) After the PR pattern, e-beam evaporation was used to deposit a 50-nm thick layer of Au. (iii) A lift-off processing with acetone to remove the PR layer, leading to final structure (pitch, $p=2.2{\mu}m$; aperture size, $d=1.1{\mu}m$) as shown in Fig. 1(a). The transmission is measured using a Nicolet Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) at the incident angle from $0^{\circ}$ to $36^{\circ}$ with a step of $4^{\circ}$ both in TE and TM polarization. Measured first and second order SP resonances at interface between Au and GaAs exhibit the splitting into two branches under TM-polarized light as shown in Fig. 1(b). However, as the incidence angle under TE polarization is increased, the $1^{st}$ order SP resonance peak blue-shifts slightly while the splitting of $2^{nd}$ order SP resonance peak tends to be larger (not shown here). For the purpose of understanding our experimental results qualitatively, SP resonance peak wavelengths can be calculated from momentum matching condition (black circle depicted in Fig. 2(b)), $k_{sp}=k_{\parallel}{\pm}iG_x{\pm}jG_y$, where $k_{sp}$ is the SP wavevector, $k_{\parallel}$ is the in-plane component of incident light wavevector, i and j are SP coupling order, and G is the grating momentum wavevector. Moreover, for better understanding we performed 3D full field electromagnetic simulations of SP structure using a finite integration technique (CST Microwave Studio). Fig. 1(b) shows an excellent agreement between the experimental, calculated and CST-simulated splitting of SP resonance peaks with various incidence angles under TM-polarized illumination (TE results are not shown here). The simulated z-component electric field (Ez) distribution at incident angle, $4^{\circ}$ and $16^{\circ}$ under TM polarization and at the corresponding SP resonance wavelength is shown in Fig. 1(c). The analysis and comparison of theoretical results with experiment indicates a good agreement of the splitting behavior of the surface plasmon resonance modes at oblique incidence both in TE and TM polarization.

Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) have attracted the attention of scientists and engineers involved in a wide area of research, microscopy, diagnostics and sensing. SPPs are waves that propagate along the surface of a conductor, usually metals. These are essentially light waves that are trapped on the surface because of their interaction with the free electrons of conductor. In this interaction, the free electrons respond collectively by oscillating in resonance with the light wave. The resonant interaction between the surface charge oscillation and the electromagnetic field of the light constitutes the SPPs and gives rise to its unique properties. In this papers, we studied theoretical and experimental extraordinary transmittance (T) and reflectance (R) of 2 dimensional metal hole array (2D-MHA) on GaAs in consideration of the diffraction orders. The 2d-MHAs was fabricated using ultra-violet photolithography, electron-beam evaporation and standard lift-off process with pitches ranging from 1.8 to $3.2{\mu}m$ and diameter of half of pitch, and was deposited 5-nm thick layer of titanium (Ti) as an adhesion layer and 50-nm thick layer of gold (Au) on the semiinsulating GaAs substrate. We employed both the commercial software (CST Microwave Studio: Computer Simulation Technology GmbH, Darmstadt, Germany) based on a finite integration technique (FIT) and a rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA) to calculate transmittance and reflectance. The transmittance was measured at a normal incident, and the reflectance was measured at variable incident angle of range between $30^{\circ}{\sim}80^{\circ}$ with a Nicolet Fourier transmission infrared (FTIR) spectrometer with a KBr beam splitter and a MCT detector. For MHAs of pitch (P), the peaks ${\lambda}$ max in the normal incidence transmittance spectra can be indentified approximately from SP dispersion relation, that is frequency-dependent SP wave vector (ksp). Shown in Fig. 1 is the transmission of P=2.2 um sample at normal incidence. We attribute the observation to be a result of FTIR system may be able to collect the transmitted light with higher diffraction order than 0th order. This is confirmed by calculations: for the MHAs, diffraction efficiency in (0, 0) diffracted orders is lower than in the (${\pm}x$, ${\pm}y$) diffracted orders. To further investigate the result, we calculated the angular dependent transmission of P=2.2 um sample (Fig. 2). The incident angle varies from 30o to 70o with a 10o increment. We also found the splitting character on reflectance measurement. The splitting effect is considered a results of SPPs assisted diffraction process by oblique incidence.
