Incompressible Turbulent Flow Simulation of the Rotor-Stator Configuration (비압축성 Navier Stokes 방정식을 이용한 2차원 터빈 익렬내의 난류유동해석)

  • 터빈익렬내부의 유동해석을 위해 비압축성 점성유동해석을 이용한 수치 해석 프로그램을 개발하였다. 지배방정식으로는 2차원의 비정상 비압축성 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 일반화된 곡선좌표계로 전환하여 암시적으로(implicitly) 반복적인 시간진행방법을 이용하여 유동해석을 하였다. 지배방정식의 각항들은 시간에 대해 1차의 정확도 그리고 영역에 대해서는 2차의 정확도, 대류항에 대해서는 3차의 정확도를 가지는 Upwind기법을 적용하였다. 특히, 실험적 접근이 매우 어려운 터빈의 정익과 회전하고 있는 동익과의 상호운동을 멀티블럭기법과 데이터 interface를 통해 보다 쉽게 해석할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 정익만을 계산한 타 연구자의 결과와의 비교시 매우 일치하였으며 물리적인 유동을 잘 파악할 수 있었다. 난류유동 해석을 위해서 Baldwin-Lomax 모델을 적용하였다.

A numerical Analysis on Three-Dimensional Inviscid Transonic Cascade Flow (3차원 비점성 천음속 익렬 유동에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • The three dimensional inviscid transonic cascade flow was investigated numerically, incorporation a four stage Runge-Kutta integration method proposed by Jameson. Time marching to the steady state was accelerated by using optimum time step and enthalpy damping. In describing the boundary conditions at inlet and outlet, Riemann invariants are considered. By adding a second and a fourth order artificial viscocities, the numerical instability due to the propagation of undamped disturbance or the rapid change of state near the shock has been prevented. The numerical results for are bump cascade, cambered two dimensional turbine cascade and three dimensional stator cascade agreed reasonably well with previous results. It has been known that the accuracy of the solution depended a lot on the modeling of the leading or trailing edge.

  • In aerodynamic design of centrifugal compressors, impellers are designed through preliminary design and blade profile generation. In order to find out faults of the initially designed impellers, the detailed informations about internal flow phenomena such as pressure distribution, flow separation, blade loading, etc are essential. These informations can be acquired with flow measurements or computational flow analyses. In this study, we calculated 3-D viscous flow in 4 back-swept impellers which were designed in our laboratory, and analyzed the flow characteristics which influence the performance of impellers.

Three-Dimensional Numerical Analysis of Surface Buoyant Jets (표층밀도분류의 3차원 수치해석)

  • A three-dimensional numerical model with free water surface was established to investigate flow characteristics of surface buoyant jets and river plumes. Turbulent shear stresses and turbulent buoyancy fluxes were expressed in terms of the eddy viscosities and diffusivities. Stable stratification effects due to density difference between discharged water and receiving ambient water were taken into with empirical formulae. Through a comparison of numerical results with published experimental data the validity of the model was shown and the optimal stratification functions was determined The three-dimensional spreading characteristics were examined and the effects of inlet densimetric Froude number, inlet aspect ratio and water surface elevation on the flow development were discussed.

  • 결정 합금 대비 비정질 합금은 높은 경도를 갖기 때문에 마모 저항성도 좋고 내부 식성 등 환경에 대한 저항성도 월등하며, 또한 과냉된 액상 상태까지 재가열하게 되면 낮은 점성도를 갖게 되므로 복잡한 3차원적인 형상을 가지는 부품을 환경에 대한 저항성, 피로 저항성, 강도 및 경도 등을 모두 고려하여 높은 정밀도를 가지고 제조하는 것이 가능하므로 우수한 물성을 갖는 구조 및 기능성 재료로의 다양한 응용이 타진되고 있다. 이러한 비정질 합금의 변형 거동에 대한 연구는 대부분 유리 천이 온도 이하에서의 전단 및 파단에 이르는 이른바 불균일 변형(Inhomogeneous Deformation) 거동에 대한 이해를 위한 실험 및 해석적 연구에 집중되어 왔다. 반면 상업화의 기반이 되는 고상 기반 2차 정형 성형은 과냉 액상 영역에서의 구조 완화 및 결정화롤 대표되는 미세 구조 제어 균일 변형(Homogeneous Deformation)에 대한 이해 없이는 불가능하므로, 이러한 관점에서 비정질 합금 특유의 점성 유동 특성을 이용한 균일 변형 응용 예시 및 미세구조 변화 연계 해석 기술의 현황을 소개하고자 한다.

  • The compression molding is widely used in the automotive industry to produce products that are large, thin, lightweight and stiff. The molded product is formed by squeezing a fiber-reinforced plastic composites. During a molding process of fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites, control of filling patterns in mold, orientation and distribution of fibers are needed to predict the effects of molding parameters on the flow characteristics. It is the objective of this paper to develop an isothermal compression molding simulation that can handle both thin and thick charges and motion of the flow front, and can predict pressure distributions and accurate velocity gradients. The composites are treated as an incompressible Newtonian fluid. The effects of slip parameter $\alpha$ and extensional/shear viscosity ratio $\zeta$ on the mold filling parameters are also discussed.

Flow Analysis in the Fuel Chamber of Engine by Applying Turbulent Models (난류모형을 적용한 엔진 연료실의 유동해석)

  • The flow analysis was made by applying the turbulent models in the complicated fuel chamber of engine. The $k-\varepsilon,\;k-\omega$, Spalart-Allmaras and reynolds stress models are used in which the hybrid grid is applied for the simulation. The velocity vector, the pressure contour, the change of residual along the iteration number, and the dynamic head are simulated for the comparison of four example cases. Computational results are compared with others. For the code's validation, 2-D bodies were simulated in advance by predicting the drag coefficients.

Additive Drag Computation of Supersonic Inlet by Numerical Analysis on Inviscid Flow (비점성 유동 해석을 통한 초음속 흡입구의 부가항력 산출)

  • A technique for calculating the additive drag of the inlet in supersonic flow was studied using commercial CFD software, STAR-CCM+, which provides a efficient way of 3 dimensional flow analysis with polyhedron-shaped grid system. Three configurations were chosen and applied to the calculation with various flow conditions of two different free stream Mach No. and some mass flow ratios. Comparisons with results from wind tunnel test gave good agreements. Though computation were carried out with the inviscid and compressible flow around the supersonic inlet for the supercritical condition, ignoring the viscous effects is concluded to give little effects on the accuracy of the additive drag calculation and to make the calculation more efficient owing to less effort and time consumed for grid system build-up and for iteration because of less grid number and simpler boundary condition.

  • Numerical simulation of viscous compressible flow in turbomachinery cascade involves many problems due to the complex geometry of blade but also flow phenomena. In the present study, numerical investigations have been performed to examine the three-dimensional flow characteristics inside the transonic linear turbine cascades using a commercial code, FLUENT. Multi-block H-type grids are applied to the high-turning turbine rotor blades and comparisons with the experimental data and the numerical results have been done. In addition, the effects of turbulence models on the prediction of the endwall flows are analyzed in the sense of the flow compressibility.

  • The finite element technique incorporatating infinite elements is applied to analyzing the general three dimensional wave-structure interaction problems within the limits of linear wave theory. The hydrodynamic forces are assumed to be inertially dominated, and viscous effects are neglected. In order to analyze the corresponding boundary value problems efficiently, two types of elements are developed. One is the infinite element for modeling the radiation condition at infinity, and the other is the fictitious bottom boundary element for the case of deep water. To validate those elements, numerical analyses are performed for several floating structures. Comparisons with the results by using other available solution methods show that the present method incorporating the infinite and the fictitious bottom boundary elements gives good results.
