Characteristics of Manure and Estimation of Nutrient and Pollutant of Holstein Dairy Cattle (홀스타인 젖소 분뇨의 특성과 비료성분 및 오염물질 부하량 추정)

  • This study was conducted to determine fertilizer nutrient and pollutant production of Holstein dairy cattle by estimating manure characteristics. The moisture content of feces was 83.9% and 95.1% for urine. The pH of feces and urine were in the ranges of 7.0~7.4 and 7.5~7.8, respectively. The average BOD5, COD, SS, T-N, T-P concentrations of the dairy feces were 18,294, 52,765, 102,889, 2,575, and 457mg/ℓ, respectively. Dairy urine showed lower levels of BOD5(5,455mg/ℓ), COD(8,089mg/ℓ), SS(593mg/ℓ), T-N(3,401mg/l), and T-P(13mg/ℓ) than feces. The total daily produced pollutant amounts of a dairy cow were 924.1g(Milking cow), 538.8g(Dry cow), 284.4g(Heifer) of BOD5, 2,336.5g (Milking cow), 1,651.8g(Dry cow), 734.1g(Heifer) of COD and 4,210.1g(Milking cow), 2,417.1g(Dry cow), 1,629.1g(Heifer) of SS and 194.8g(Milking cow), 96.4g(Dry cow), 58.3g(Heifer) of T-N and 24.0g(Milking cow), 10.2g(Dry cow), 6.1g(Heifer) of T-P. The calculated amount of pollutants produced by a 450kg dairy cow for one year were 181.3kg of BOD5, 492.5kg of COD, 899.9kg of SS, 36.0kg of T-N and 4.1kg of T-P. The total yearly estimated pollutant production from all head(497,261) of dairy cattle in Korea is 90,149 tons of BOD5, 244,890 tons of COD, 447,491 tons of SS, 17,898 tons of T-N and 2,008 tons of T-P. The fertilizer nutrient concentrations of dairy feces was 0.26% N, 0.1% P2O5 and 0.14% K2O. Urine was found to contain 0.34% N, 0.003% of P2O5 and 0.31% K2O. The total daily fertilizer nutrients produced by dairy cattle were 197.4g (Milking cow), 97.4g(Dry cow), and 57.9g(Heifer) of Nitrogen, 54.2g(Milking cow), 22.2g(Dry cow), and 14.2g(Heifer) of P2O5 and 110.8g(Milking cow), 80.4g (Dry cow), and 39.5g(Heifer) of K2O. The total yearly estimated fertilizer nutrient produced by a 450kg dairy animal is 36.2kg of N, 8.8kg of P2O5, 24.6kg of K2O. The estimated yearly fertilizer nutrient production from all dairy cattle in Korea is 18,000 tons of N, 4,397 tons of P2O5, 12,206 tons of K2O. Dairy manure contains useful trace minerals for crops, such as CaO and MgO, which are contained in similar levels to commercial compost being sold in the domestic market. Concentrations of harmful trace minerals, such as As, Cd, Hg, Pb, Cr, Cu, Ni, Zn, met the Korea compost standard regulations, with some of these minerals being in undetected amounts.

  • The garbage from the dwelling house was composted in two kinds of small composter in the laboratory, and the possibility of garbage composting was examined. The composters were general small. One (type 3) was constructed with the double layer walls and the other (type 4) was the same as the first except for being insulated. Because it was found that type 3 was not available for composting under our meteorological conditions through the winter experiment, only type 4 was tested in spring and summer. The experiment was performed for 8 weeks in each season. The seasonal variation of several components in the compost was evaluated and discussed. The results summarized below were those obtained at the end of the experiment, if the time was not specified. 1) The maximum temperature was $43^{\circ}C$ in winter, $55^{\circ}C$ in spring and $56^{\circ}C$ in summer. 2) The mass was reduced to an average of 63% and the volume reduction was an average of 78%. 3) The density was estimated as 1.5 kg/l in winter and 0.8 kg/l in spring and summer. 4) The water content was not much changed during the composting periods. It was 79.3% in winter, 75.0% in spring and 70.0% in summer. 5) After pH value increased during the first week, it decreased until the second week and increased again continuously thereafter. It reached pH 6.19 in winter, pH 7.59 in spring and pH 8.69 in summer. 6) The faster the organic matter was decomposed, the greater the ash content increased. The contents of cellulose and lignin increased, but that of hemicellulose decreased during the composting period. 7) Nitrogen contents were in the range of 3.3-6.8% and especially high in summer. After ammonium contents increased at the early stage of the composting period, they decreased. The maximum ammonium-nitrogen content was 2,404mg/kg after 8 weeks in winter, 12,400mg/kg after 3 weeks in spring and 20,718mg/kg after 3 weeks in summer. C/N-ratios decreased with the lapse of composting time, but they were not much changed. Nitrification occurred actively in summer. 8) The contents of volatile and higher fatty acids increased at the early stage of composting and reduced after that. The maximum content of total fatty acid was 9.7% after 6 weeks in winter, 14.8% after 6 weeks in spring and 15.8% after 2 weeks in summer. 9) The contents of inorganic components were not accumulated as composting proceeded. They were in the range of 0.9-4.4% $P_2O_5$, 1.6-2.4% $K_2O$, 2.2-5.4% CaO and 0.30-0.61% MgO. 10) CN and heavy metal contents did not show any tendency. They were in the range of 0.21-14.55mg/kg CN, 11-166mg/kg Zn, 5-65mg/kg Cu, 0.5-10.8mg/kg Cd, 6- 35mg/kg Pb, ND-33 mg/kg Cr and ND-302.04 g/kg Hg.

  • The reaction of Cu metal with mixed alkali metal polyselenide flux ($KNaSe_x$) produced large plate-like crystals of $KCu_4Se_3$. The structure of $KCu_4Se_3$, determined with X-ray single crystal diffraction techniques, is tetragonal (P4/mmm, a=4.013(1))${\AA}$, c=9.712(1))${\AA}$, z=1, R=6.7%). The structure is composed $[Cu_4Se_3]_n^{n-}$double layers which are made of fused anti PbO-type Cu2Se2 layers. Temperature variable resistivity measurement on single crystal of $KCu_4Se_3$ shows metallic behavior ranging from $1.8{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ (at 300 K) to $1.0{\times}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ (at 20 K).

  • A microdetermination of Ascorbic acid (AsA) in blood by Gas-Liquid Chromatography (GLC) was studied. AsA was applied on GLC after the conversion into trimethylsilyl derivative (TMS) and the GLC was available for the only reduced form of AsA. A calibration curve is made by GLC of TMS-AsA as the internal standard of n-docosane. The minimum amount of AsA required for the determination was 0.5ml of 1 mg% pyridine solution. Prior to the conversion of AsA in serum into TMS derivative, serum was lyophilized and then it was allowed to stand at room temperature with TMS reagents for 48 hr. On injection of the supernates of TMS derivative to GLC the peak corresponding to AsA was not detected. Its reason why the concentration of AsA in serum is $0.5mg{\sim}0.8mg%$ in general, and it is less than minimum concentration of GLC. In case of L-AsA 1 mg was added to 1ml of serum, which was followed by lyophilization, silylation and GLC. The recorvery of AsA added was 98 percentage.

Efficient Stereoselective Synthesis of (2S,3S,4S)-3,4-Dihydroxyglutamic Acid ((2S,3S,4S)-3,4-다이하이드록시글루타믹산의 효율적인 입체선택적 합성)

  • (2S,3S,4S)-3,4-Dihydroxyglutamic acid (DHGA), a biologically active ${\alpha},{\beta}$-dihydroxy-${\gamma}$-amino acid, was efficiently synthesized from a readily available D-serine derivative in 30% overall yield over 11 steps. The key stereoselective $OsO_4$-catalyzed dihydroxylation reaction controlled by an N-diphenylmethylene group on the amino group of ${\gamma}$-amino-${\alpha},{\beta}$-unsaturated (Z)-ester successfully introduced the diol moiety of the intermediate 5a in 86% with more than 10 : 1 diastereomeric ration. Then it was in turn successfully converted to the desired target compound, (2S,3S,4S)-3,4-DHGA, via simple oxidation and hydrolysis in a highly stereoselective manner and a higher yield than the previous syntheses. This result strongly supports that our synthetic methodology of stereoselective $OsO_4$-catalyzed dihydroxylation should be useful in stereoselctive synthesis of various bioactive compounds with an amino diol moiety.

  • 많은 ISP업체와 서버 관리자들은 자신의 시스템 향상을 위하여 많을 비용을 쏟아 붇고 있지만 그 결과는 비관적이다. 지금까지는 하드웨어적인 성능만을 고려하였으나, 최근에는 리눅스를 탑재하여 낮은 가격과 높은 가용성을 가지면서, 증가하는 네트워크 요청에 효과적으로 대응하기 위한 해결책으로 여러 대의 호스트로 구성되는 클러스터링 기술이 각광을 받고 있다. 또한 클러스터는 저렴한 호스트들로 구성되므로 구축 비용이 절감되는것 뿐만 아니라, 일부 호스트가 고장 나더라도 다른 호스트는 네트워크 작업 분담을 재설정하여 정상적으로 동작함으로 가용성이 항상 유지될 수 있다는 것을 보여준다. 최근 군에서도 정보화 과학화의 열풍에 힘입어 그 어느때보다도 업무의 전산화, 정보화에 박차를 가하고 있는 실정이다. 이로 인한 군업무에 적용되는 중대형 서버의 증가와 1인 1PC정책에 의한 클라이언트의 증가, 네트웍 인프라 구축에 심혈을 기울이고 있다. 그러나 사용자의 요구만큼 군환 경하에서의 정보화 업무를 감당하는 서버의 역량은 제한이 있다. 군업무의 특수성에 비추어 볼때에도 사회의 금융업무와 마찬가지로 중단없는 서비스의 수행과 서버의 안정화는 군전산의 가장 중요한 요소중의 하나임에 불구하고 아직까지도 현실성은 많이 미비한 상태이다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위하여 NAS와 SAN개념(네트웍기반)을 도입하여 군 서버 구축 새로운 패러다임을 제공하여 업무의 통폐합과 함께 서버의 통폐합의 전초단계인 무정지 클러스터링 서버의 구축방안을 제시하여 군정보화, 과학화의 초석을 다지는 계기로 삼고자 한다.위상변화에 대한 적응성을 높일 수 있도록 한다.   • There are approximately 250,000 organic livestock farming in the world. The total retail value of organic food sales in the world is $ 27 billion. The organic livestock products such as milk, lamb and beef are marketed mostly in Europe and the USA. The market share of organic food is about 2% in total food marketing value of worldwide and of the organic food marketing value, organic livestock products portioned 17% in the USA. The organic livestock products are primarily marketed at Supermarket(Europe), Health and Natural Food store(USA). Concerning international trade, it is very little. But it is increasing among the developed counties of Europe. In the future, the production of organic livestock products will be rapidly increased in South America, Middle East and Oceania, but the growth rate will be limited due to its expensive price, lack of marketing-infra and different regulation system. Most of developed countries drive organic farming policy strongly as the strategic means of rural development, diversifying agriculture system and environmental improvement.

  • This study was carried out to introduce functional groups onto wood by reacting with 2-methacryloyloxyethyl isocyanate(MOI). The effects of the catalyst and the reaction conditions(temperature and time) on the treatment were investigated. The evidence of bonding between wood and MOI were examined by infrared(IR) spectroscopy. The change in surface characteristics of MOI treated wood was examined by water contact angle measurement and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). Wood reacted quickly with MOI in the presence of di-n-butiltin dilaurate catalyst. Especially, the increase in weight percent gain(WPG) with increasing in reaction time was remarkable at the reaction temperature of over $50^{\circ}C$. The IR spectrum of wood reacted with MOI showed a strong urethane absorption(1715 $cm^{-1}$) but no isocyanate(2235 $cm^{-1}$) absorption. It also showed a sharp olefinic C=C double bond absorption at 1635 $cm^{-1}$. This means that an introduced methacrylate group becomes the starting point of further graft copolymerization with another vinyl monomers. The wood modified with MOI showed a gradual increase in contact angle with increasing in WPG, which means that the hydrophilic wood surface become quite hydrophobic. Also, it was cleared that most parts of the wood surface were modified with MOI by XPS analysis.

  • A series of $TiO_2-SiO_2$catalysts were prepared by coprecipitation from the mixed solution of titanium tetrachloride and sodium silicate. Some of the samples were treated with 1N $H_2SO_4$ and used as modified catalysts. The catalytic activities of modified catalysts were higher than those of unmodified catalysts, and the effect of modification on the catalytic activity was higher for 2 - propanol dehydration than for cumene dealkylation. The catalytic activity of unmodified catalysts was correlated with their acid amount for the above two reactions. As $TiO_2-SiO_2$ catalysts had relatively large amount of weak acid sites and small amount of strong acid sites, the catalytic activity for 2 - propanol dehydration was higher than that for cumene dealkylation. The effect of modification on catalytic activity increased with increasing $TiO_2$content of the catalysts. Actually, $92-TiO_2-SiO_2/SO_4{^2}$had the highest increment in catalytic activity and $10-TiO_2-SiO_2/SO_4{^2}$had the lowest increment for the 2 - propanol dehydration.

Production and Characteristics of Protein Hydrolysate from Sharp Toothed Eel (Muraenesox cinereus) (갯장어 효소 가수분해물의 제조 및 특성)

  • Protein hydrolysate was prepared as a natural flavor stock from the sharp toothed eel (Muraenesox cinereus) mince using com-mercially available proteolytic enzymes, Alcalase, Neutrase, Protamex, and Flavourzyme. A 6 hr hydrolysis of mince, to which water of the equal weight of the mince was added, with $2\%$ (w/w, protein weight) Elavourzyme at $50^{\circ}$ yielded a hydrolysate of the highest acceptability. Removing the access lipid in liquified hydrolysate (not dehydrated) after enzyme hydrolysis, five times repetitive extraction using n-hexane (liquified hydrolysate : n-hexane=4 : 1, v/v) was effective, resulting in less than $1\%$ lipid content of the dehydrated-hydrolysate. The amino acid composition of the hydrolysate (prepared with Flavourzyme) was similar to that of the starting material. Hydrolysis led to an increase in concentration of not only total free amino acid but also free amino acid such as serine, glutamic acid, alanine, and methionine responsible for umami taste, especially up to about 40 times for methionine. Major free amino acids in amount were leucine, phenylalanine, valine, alanine, and isoleucine and they comprised about half of the total free amino acids, Moisture adsorption, fat adsorption, emulsifying capacity, and foaming capacity of the hydrolysate were 870.1 $\pm$ $7.9\%$, 352.0$\pm$ $5.3\%$, 50.3 $\pm$ $1.2\%$, and $87.5\pm$ $2.5\%$, respectively, and solubility was 83$\~$$84\%$ at acid pH range of 2$\~$4.
