  • We prove non-existence of real hypersurfaces with Killing structure Jacobi operator in complex projective spaces. We also classify real hypersurfaces in complex projective spaces whose structure Jacobi operator is Killing with respect to the k-th generalized Tanaka-Webster connection.

  • Wastewater from cider factories (losses during transfers, products discarded due to quality policies, and products returned from the market) exhibits a Chemical Oxygen Demand greater than $170,000mg\;O_2/l$, mainly due to the ethanol content and carbohydrates that are added to obtain the finished product. These effluents can represent up to 10% of the volume of cider produced, and they must be treated to meet environmental regulations. In this work, a process was developed, based on alcoholic fermentation of the available carbohydrates present in ciders. The impact of inhibitors at different pH, size and reuse of inoculums and different nutrient supplementation on the ethanol yield were evaluated. The use of a 0.5 g/l yeast inoculum and corn steep water as the nutrient source allowed for depletion of the sugars in less than 48 h, which increased the content of ethanol to more than 70 g/l.

  • A study on plant parasitic nematodes from 125 110st plants at 33 districts in Kyung-Pook, Kyung-Nam and Jae-Ju province in Korea yielded 9 families, 28 genus, 42 different species, eight of which are described new for Korea. Some are noticed on the morphological characteristics: Criconemoides morgensis (Hofmanner & Menzel, 1914) Taylor. 1936. Crossonema (Crossonema) menzeli (Stefanski, 1924) Mehta & Raski, 1971. • Soil contamination by metals is of particular interest, given that their retention times within the profile can be indefinite. Thus, phytostabilization can be viewed as a means of limiting metal toxicity in soils. Due to their ability to grow on contaminated soils, alders have repeatedly been used as key species in phytostabilization efforts. Alder ability to grow on contaminated sites stems, in part, from its association with microbial endophytes. This work emphasizes the fungal endophytes populations associated with Alnus incana ssp. rugosa and Alnus alnobetula ssp. crispa (previously A. viridis ssp. crispa) under a phytostabilization angle. Fungal endophytes were isolated from alder trees that were growing on or near disturbed environments; their tolerances to Cu, Ni, Zn, and As, and acidic pH (4.3, 3, and 2) were subsequently assessed. Cryptosporiopsis spp. and Rhizoscyphus spp. were identified as fungal endophytes of Alnus for the first time. When used as inoculants for alder, some isolates promoted plant growth, while others apparently presented antagonistic relationships with the host plant. This study reports the first step in finding the right fungal endophytic partners for two species of alder used in phytostabilization of metal-contaminated mining sites.

  • Variations of dissolved oxygen were studied for two years in two brackish lakes, Etang de Berre and Etang de Vaine related to the north-west Mediteranean Sea. The variations also were studied at the same time in nearby seawater, and in the four main tributaries of Etang de Berre. The distributions of dissolved oxygen values and their spatio-temporal variations were well matched with the characteristics of the water masses in different environments. The concentration of dissolved oxygen and the rate of oxygen saturation in seawater (Carry-le-Rouet) ranged from 5.0 to 6.0 ml.1$\^$-1/, and from 95 to 105%, respectively. The amount of dissolved oxygen in Etang de Berre oscillated between 0.17 and 11.43 ml.1$\^$-1/ with an average of 7.40ml1$\^$-1/.The rate of oxygen saturation oscillated between 2.9 and 168.3%. Annual values of the four tributaries are as follows (ml.1$\^$-1/ and %): Durance:8.68 and 113.6;Arc : 6.87 and 95.3;Touloubre: 6.87 and 91.0;Durancole;6.36 and 96.8 The data for the evolutions of dissolved oxygen in Etang de Berre on the period between 1965 and 1978 are presented. A rather good negative correlation links oxygen with temperatures.

  • Recent advances in forward error correction (FEC) coding techniques were focused on addressing the challenges of multicast and broadcast delivery. However, FEC approaches can also be used for unicast content delivery in order to solve transmission control protocol issues found in wireless networks. In this paper, we exploit the error resilient properties of Raptor codes by proposing Raptor-based content delivery protocol (RCDP) - a novel solution for reliable and bidirectional unicast communication in lossy links that can improve content delivery in situations where the wireless network is the bottleneck. RCDP has been designed, validated, optimized, and its performance has been analyzed in terms of throughput and resource efficiency. Experimental results show that RCDP is a highly efficient solution for environments characterized by high delays and packet losses making it very suitable for intelligent transport system oriented applications since it achieves significant performance improvements when compared to traditional transport layer protocols.

  • Extra-enteric infections by Blastocystis spp. have rarely been documented. Here, we report a case of extra-enteric blastocystosis in a patient with minimal cervicitis symptoms. A 47-year-old Hispanic female patient was attended in a primary health centre in Michoacan state, Mexico, for her routine gynaecological medical examination. As only symptom, she referred to a slight vaginal itching. The presence of several vacuolar-stages of Blastocystis spp. were identified by Papanicolaou staining; molecular identification was attempted by culture-PCR sequencing of a region of 18S gene from cervical and faecal samples obtained 2 months after cytological examination, even when patient declared that she tried self-medicating with vaginal ovules. Blastocystis ST1 was identified only in the faecal sample. The presence of Blastocystis spp. in the cervix of a patient with scarce symptomatology, demonstrates the extraordinary flexibility of this microorganism to adapt to new environments and niches.
