System Safety Assessment for KC-100 Civil Aircraft (KC-100 민간항공기 체계안전성 평가)

  • KC-100 is a 4 seats, single piston engine, civil aircraft whose type certificate is applied for KAS 23 (FAR 23) for the first time in Korea. Its system safety assessment and analysis have been conducted to meet the minimum safety requirement in KAS 23 and to verify the safety of equipment, system, and installation in accordance with the requirement of ${\S}$23.1309 and the guidelines in FAA AC 23.1309-1D and SAE ARP 4761. This safety assessment begins with the FHA (Functional Hazard Assessment) at aircraft and system level in preliminary design phase, and all of the safety assessment and analysis reports including the preliminary version of SSA (System Safety Assessment) have been prepared during detail design phase. The revised version of these safety reports will be approved by Airworthiness Authority through the ground and flight test phases. In this paper, the safety assessment requirement in ${\S}$23.1309, safety assessment guideline in AC 23.1309-1D, and safety assessment and analysis methods in ARP 4761 will be explained based on the application example for KC-100 development. The experience and knowledge of this system safety assessment for civil aircraft can be applied to commuter aircraft of FAR 23 class or large transport airplane of FAR 25 class.

Substituent Effect on Fluorescence and Photoisomerization of 1-(9-Anthryl)-2-(4-Pyridyl)ethenes

  • The fluorescence and photoisomerization quantum yields of trans-1-(9-anthryl)-2-(4-pyridyl)ethene (t-4-APyE), 1-(10-methyl-9-anthryl)-2-(4-pyridyl)ethene (t-4-MeAPyE), and 1-(10-chloro-9-anthryl)-2-(4- pyridyl)ethene (t-4-ClAPyE) were measured in cyclohexane, acetonitrile, and methanol at room temperature.Polar solvents result in the drastic reduction of fluorescence quantum yield and increase of photoisomerization quantum yield for all three compounds. These results are probably due to the stabilization of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) excited state in polar solvent. The higher contribution of ICT in the presence of more electron-donating methyl substituent, manifested by largest positive fluorescence solvatochromism, indicates that the pyridine ring acts as an electron acceptor. Protonation or methylation makes pyridine ring stronger electron acceptor and causes long-wavelength ground state charge transfer absorption band and complete quenching of fluorescence. The fluorescence from t-4-APyE derivatives can be switched off responding external stimuli viz. medium polarity, protonation, or methylation.

Stochastic precipitation modeling based on Korean historical data

  • Stochastic weather generators are commonly used to simulate time series of daily weather, especially precipitation amount. Recently, a generalized linear model (GLM) has been proposed as a convenient approach to fitting these weather generators. In this paper, a stochastic weather generator is considered to model the time series of daily precipitation at Seoul in South Korea. As a covariate, global temperature is introduced to relate long-term temporal scale predictor to short-term temporal predictands. One of the limitations of stochastic weather generators is a marked tendency to underestimate the observed interannual variance of monthly, seasonal, or annual total precipitation. To reduce this phenomenon, we incorporate time series of seasonal total precipitation in the GLM weather generator as covariates. It is veri ed that the addition of these covariates does not distort the performance of the weather generator in other respects.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of the parameters of the suspension system in railway rolling-stock for KT-23 type passenger vehicle. According to the results of simulation and the field test, Optimal condition was obtained for the stiffness ratio of the primary spring and the secondary of the suspension system. When the stiffness ratio was increased, the vibration was increased on the car body and decreased on the bogie, and ride quality are getting worse because of increase of the vertical natural frequency of the car body. The results of this study are usefull to improve the technology of the ride quality of KT-23 type vehicle.

A Study on SCR-Based ESD Protection Circuit with PMOS (PMOS가 삽입된 SCR 기반의 ESD 보호 회로에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the electrical characteristics of Gate grounded NMOS(GGNMOS), Lateral insulated gate bipolar transistor(LIGBT), Silicon Controlled Rectifier(SCR), and Proposed ESD protection device were compared and analyzed. First, the trigger voltage and holding voltage were verified by simulating the I-V characteristic curve for each device. After that, the robustness was confirmed by HBM 4k simulation for each device. As a result of HBM 4k simulation, the maximum temperature of the proposed ESD protection device is lower than that of GGNMOS and GGLIGBT and SCR, which means that the robustness is improved, which means that the ESD protection device is excellent in terms of reliability.

  • A three dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes code is developed to analyze flowfields and performance of a vaned diffuser in a centrifugal compressor. It employs scalar implicit approximate factorization, finite volume formulation, second order upwind differencing and a two-equation $q-{\omega}$ turbulence model based on the integration to the wall. Pressure recovery and loss coefficients of a vaned diffuser are evaluated using a developed computer code. The simulated three dimensional flows show how through flow structure affects pressure recovery performance and loss coefficients of a vane for design and off-design inlet flow angles. Development of complex three dimensional flow over the inlet region and leading edge are very influential to the overall flow and performance.

Synthesis and Nonlinear Optical Properties of 1,3,5-Tricyano-2,4,6-tris[2-(thiophen-2-yl)vinyl]benzene Derivatives

  • 1,3,5-Tricyano-2,4,6-tris[2-(thiophen-2-yl)vinyl]benzene derivatives have been synthesized as a new type of octupolar nonlinear optical molecules and their linear and nonlinear optical properties were determined. The λmax values increa sed with the conjugation length and as the conjugation bridge was changed from phenyl to thienyl group. For phenyl and thiophene derivatives, the b value increased with conjugation length. In contrast, the $\beta$ values of the thiophene derivatives were much smaller than the corresponding phenyl derivatives.

Development of Multi-Chemical Supply System for Semiconductor Wafer Cleaning Station

  • A multi-chemical supply system is developed and applied to a wet station, which uses the multi-chemical process in one bath. To control the concentration of two chemicals, control logic of a supply pump is programmed using the programable logic controller (PLC). By using the multi-chemical supply system, wet station with single bath is applied to cleaning process using multi chemicals such as buffed oxide etchant (BOE) and standard clean 1 (SC-1). The concentration of each chemical is measured in the bath to verify the multi-chemical supply system. The control range in the each chemical concentration is measured to 1.33weight% in NH4OH and 0.23weight% in H2O2. The multi-chemical supply system can be movable and usable as an independent module of fixed wet station. By simply midifying the PLC, a multi-chemical supply system can be developed for a wet station.

Breadcrumb as a New Substrate for Trametes versicolor and Schizophyllum commune Submerged Cultivation

  • A new substrate, breadcrumbs, was investigated for biomass accumulation, the pH of the cultural broth, the formation of primary metabolites such as the proteins and endopolysaccharides of Schizophyllum commune 1768 and Trametes versicolor 353, as well as its bioconversion efficiency. The results showed that S. commune gives more mycelial mass ($23.96{\pm}0.8g/l$) and in a shorter period (4 days) than T. versicolor ($15.76{\pm}0.5g/l$ in 5 days). The pH values changed from the initial 6.1 to 3.6 in S. commune cultural broth and to 4.4 in T. versicolor cultural broth. Maximal endopolysaccharide content in the mycelia of S. commune and T. versicolor were 7.13% and 6.42%, correspondingly. Crude protein content in S. commune mycelium was 18.83 % on the 4th day of cultivation, and 20.03%, in the mycelium of T. versicolor, on the 6th day of cultivation. Kinetic parameters for the quantitative estimation of cultivation efficiency were calculated for biomass, endopolysaccharide, and crude protein concentrations.

A blocking artifacts reduction algorithm using block boundary pixel difference characteristics (블록 경계 화소차값의 특성을 이용한 블록화 현상 제거 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach for reducing the blocking artifact that is one of drawbacks of the block-based Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) without introducing additional information or significant blurring. We modify the inter-block discontinuity minimization technique to preserve edges within a block as well as to reduce visible block boundaries. The homogeneity of each block is decided by the threshold value reated to Q-factor, which is included in a JPEG as well as MPEG streams. The quantization error is estimated by minimizing the discontinuity, which is weighted in proportion to block discontinuity and added to each pixel in the block to compensate block artifacts. The proposed algorithm reconstructs images which have less noticeable block boundaries from a subjective viewpoit without anyconstraints.
