A Study on Women's Satisfaction with Ready-to-wear by Body Type in Twenties to Thirties (20\sim$30대 여성의 체형별 기성복 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • In order to improve the problems with obese women's ready-to-wear by age range, this study surveyed the actual clothing purchase and wearing of women in their 20s and 30s with normal and obese body types, and compared and analyzed their satisfaction with ready-to-wear by age and body type. First, for normal body types, both women in their 20s and 30s use department stores the most. Meanwhile, obese women in their 20s make most of their purchases at internet shopping malls, while those in their 30s mostly go to department stores. For criteria for purchasing clothing, normal women both in their 20s and 30s value design most whereas, obese women put size and fit before design regardless of their age. Normal women in their 20s and 30s both were most unsatisfied with standardized design because they could not find designs they wanted. Obese women in their 20s and 30s also showed disapproval of unvaried sizes, indicating a distinct difference in body types and age. As well, the study found that both normal and obese women wear casual style the most, followed by semi-formal style. Also, regarding the images they were seeking when wearing clothing, the normal women wanted to look fashionable, while obese women wanted to look slim, regardless of age. Both body-type groups generally like preferred semi loose-fits the most, followed by tight-fit. They however, dislike relaxed loose-fitting.

  • The purpose of this study : 1. The total 56 range measurements of active dynamic motion of 40 subjects (20's and 30's) were measured using 3-D dynamic motion analysis system. 2. Various comparisons were performed for the right and left side, male, age groups (20's, 30's, and 40's ∼ 60's) using previous studies. The results were compared with the other studies in the aspects of age. In this study, the 3-D motion analysis system based on photogrammetry was established and used to analyze the human's motion and posture. The system consists of VICON 140, data acquisition system, and data analysis program (KRISSMAS). The result of this study were as follows : 1. Comparing 20's with 30's the result shows that 30's have larger ROM at some joints, which is inconsistent with the previous result. The reason is that female subjects in 20's were improperly sampled according to the representatives of anthropometry characteristics. 2. There are significant differences in some joints related with age. 20's male subjects have more flexible joints in the neck while 30's male subjects have more flexibility in their shoulder joint and elbow joint. But most of the significances were not high (p〈0.05). The prediction that the right side of Korean bodies would be more flexible was not a good hypothesis. And the joints flexibilities are not correlated with Rohrer's Index.

Candidacidal Effects of Rev (11-20) Derived from HIV-1 Rev Protein

  • Rev is an essential regulatory protein for HIV-1 replication. Rev (11-20) is known as the significant region regarding the function of a nuclear entry inhibitory signal (NIS) of Rev. In this study, anticandidal effects and mechanism of action of Rev (11-20) were investigated. The result exhibited that Rev (11-20) contained candidacidal activities. To understand target site(s) of Rev (11-20), the intracellular localization of the peptide was investigated. The result showed that Rev (11-20) rapidly accumulated in the fungal cell surface. The cell wall regeneration test also indicated that Rev (11-20) exerted its anticandidal activity to fungal plasma membrane rather than cell wall. The fluorescent study using 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (DPH) further confirmed the membrane-disruption mechanism(s) of Rev (11-20). The present study suggests that Rev (11-20) possesses significant potential regarding therapeutic agents for treating fungal diseases caused by Candida species in humans.

Comparison of Perception and Fast Food Usage Patterns of Adults Classified by Age in Busan (부산지역 성인의 연령별 패스트푸드 인식 및 이용실태)

  • This study was conducted to compare the perception and fast food usage patterns of adults classified by age in Busan. The survey was conducted from April 15 to June 15, 2017 by questionnaires and the data were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 Overall, 74.1%, 58.1%, 40.7%, 20.3%, 29.7% and 17.9% of individuals in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, respectively, consumed fast foods more than once a week. Additionally, 66.0%, 52.5%, 25.7%, 16.0%, 22.9% and 11.7% of individuals in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s, respectively, preferred fast foods. There was a significant difference in the basis for choosing menu among the groups, with 'preference' and 'price' being most important to those in their 20s and 30s, on the other hand 'preference' and 'companion' being most important to members of other age groups. As their age increased, individuals spent less money on fast food. Overall, 81.5%, 59.9%, 50.0%, 40.1%, 46.3%, and 28.4% of individuals in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s thought that fast food was a suitable substitute for a meal. Age affected the substitutability of fast food for a meal (P<0.001). Additionally, the ratio of individuals in their 20s and 30s that skipped breakfast was higher than in other age groups. In addition, age showed a significant positive correlation with obesity and dietary attitude, whereas it showed a negative correlation with nutrition knowledge, use frequency, perception degree and preference. Nutrition knowledge and dietary attitude showed no relationship with preference. These results imply that a nutrition education program should be developed and conducted to induce subjects to manage their dietary habit and develop healthier dietary patterns.

Susceptibility of Saccharomyces cerevisiae D-71 and Zygosaccharomyces rouxii SR-S to Zymolyase-20T (Zymolyase-20T에 대한 Saccharomyces cerevisiae D-71과 Zygosaccharomyces rouxii SR-S의 감수성)

  • Susceptibility of a thermophilic strain (D-71) of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and an osmotolerant strain (SR-S) of Zygosaccharomyces rouxii to Zymolyase-20T were studied in various renditions. Content of glucan and mannan in cell wall of Saocharomyces cerevisiae D-71 were 14.5% and 14.8%, and Zygosaccharomyces rouxii SR-S were 24.0% and 19.0%, respectively. Susceptibility of Saccharomyces cerevisiae D-71 cultured in Wickerham synthetic medium containing 0.5% of methionine and 0.1% of glucose to Zymolyase-20T was 66%, and $K_2$HPO$_4$ and aminobenzoic acid were greatly effective to susceptibility. Susceptibility of Zygosaccharomyces rouxii SR-S cultured in Wickerhnin synthetic medium containing 0.5% of peptone, 0.15% of methionine and 0.l% of glucose to Zymolyase-20T was 80%, and KI and pyridoxine were greatly effective to susceptibility. Susceptibility of Saccharomyces cerevisiae D-71 stationary cultured in YMPG medium at $25^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours was 16o1e and Zygosaccharomyces rouxii SR-S stationary cultured in YMPG medium at $25^{\circ}C$ for 30 hours was 82%.

The Effects of Conspicuous Consumption Tendency on Fashion Involvement by Age Groups (연령에 따른 과시소비성향이 패션관여도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was examine the effects of the conspicuous consumption tendency by age on fashion involvement. Questionnaires were distributed to 554 females in their 20s-50s. for the final analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, as a result of the examination of the differences between conspicuous consumption and fashion involvement by age, people in their 20s showed the highest conspicuous consumption and fashion involvement. Second, as a result of the analysis of the effects of the conspicuous consumption by age on the fashion involvement, people in their 20s and 30s influenced the appearance management among the factors of the individuality pursuit orientation and those in the 40s physical supplementation and appearance management and those in the 50s the physical supplementation and sexual appeal. The brand orientation factor influenced social symbol to all the people in their 20s to 50s and the high price orientation factor did not influence any of the people in their 20s to 50s. The trend pursuit orientation factor showed its influence on appearance management to those in their 30s and sexual appeal and conformity to those in their 40s.

Developmental Changes of Proteolvtic Activities of 26S Protease Complex and 20S Proteasome in Chick Embryonic Muscle (계배 근조직 발달과정에서의 26S 단백질 분해효소 복합체 및 20S proteasome의 단백질 분해활성의 변화)

  • The multicatalvtic 205 proteasome consisting of 12-15 subunits of 22-35 kDa is the catalytic core of the ATP/ubiquitin-dependent 26S protease complex that also is comprised of multiple subunits of 22-110 KDa. In order to determine whether the proteolvtic activities change during muscle development, the enzyme preparations were obtained from 11-, 14- and 17-day old chick embryonic muscle using a BioGel A-1.5m column. The 26S complex preparation from 14- or 17-day old muscle hvdr olvz e d both N -s uccinvl- Le u- Le u -Val-Tvr-7- amido -4- methvlco umarin ( Suc- LLVY- AMC) and ubiquitin-Ivsozvme conjugates about 50% as well as that from 11-day old muscle. In addition, the activity of 20S proteBsome against Suc-LLVY-AMC also decreased by about 20-30%. However, the protein level of 265 complex remained constant during the entire development period, while that of 205 proteasome increased 5- to 6-fold, as analyzed by nondenaturins polyacrvlamide gel elenrophoresis followed by immunoblot analysis using the antibodies raised against the purified enzymes. Thus, the specific activity of 20S proteasome against the peptide must decrease rather dramatically during the muscle development. These results suggest that the development-dependent changes in the proteolytic activities of both 20S proteasome and 26S protease complect from embryonic muscle are due to alterations in the expression of certain subunits in the enzvmes that are responsible for their specific cataIVtic functions but not to overall changes in the enzyme amounts.

Dietary Fiber and Fat Intakes Related to Age in Adults Living in Taejon City (대전지역 성인의 연령별 식이섬유소와 지방 섭취 실태)

  • This study was performed to investigate the variation in dietary fiber and fat intakes, and the contribution of food groups to dietary fiber and fat consumption in relation to age and to examine the relationship between dietary fiber and fat intakes in 337 urban adults aged 20-49 year. Dietary intakes were evaluated with one-day 24-hour recall and two-day dietary record method. Significantly higher intakes of fat in males and saturated fatty acid, monounsaturated fatty acid, polyunsaturated fatty acid, and cholesterol in females were associated with younger age. The ratio of fat to the total energy intake slightly exceeded 20% at 20s and 30s in both males and females. The main source of dietary fiber was vegetables in all age groups of males and 30s of females, but grains in 20s and 40s of females. The main source of fat was meats in all age groups of males and 40s of females, but grains in 20s and 30s in females. The main source of cholesterol was eggs in both males and females. Dietary fiber intake was positively correlated with all fat-related parameters except cholesterol in 20s and 40s and was positively related with fat in 30s of males. For females dietary fiber intake was positively correlated with polyunsaturated fatty acid in 20s and with monounsaturated fatty acid and polyunsaturated fatty acid in 40s. These findings show that there is considerable variation in intake of dietary fiber and fat in relation to age among adults and suggest that these factors should be considered at interventions aimed toward improvement of nutritional status.

Uncertainty in the Estimation of Arctic Surface Temperature during Early 1900s Revealed by the Comparison between HadCRU4 and 20CR Reanalysis (HadCRU4 관측 온도자료와 20CR 재분석 자료 비교로부터 확인된 1900년대 초반 극지역 평균 온도 추정의 불확실성)

  • To discuss whether we have credible estimations about historical surface temperature evolution since industrial revolution or not, present study investigates consistencies and differences of averaged surface air temperature since 1900 between the multiple data sources: Hadley Center Climate Research Unit (HadCRU4) surface air temperature data, ECMWF 20 Century Reanalysis data (ERA20CR), and NCEP 20 Century Reanalysis data (NCEP20CR). Averaged surface temperatures are obtained for the global, polar (90S~60S, 60N~0N), midlatitude (60S~30S, 30N~60N), tropical (30S~30N) region, separately. From the analysis, we show that: 1) spatio-temporal inhomogenity and scarcity of HadCRU4 data are not major obstacles in the reliable estimation of global surface air temperature. 2) Globally averaged temperature variability is largely contributed by those of tropical and midlatitude, which occupy more than 70% of earth surface in area. 3) Both data show consistent temperature variability in tropical region. 4) ERA20CR does not capture warm period over Arctic region in early 1900s, which is obvious feature in HadCRU4 data. Discrepancies among datasets suggest that high-level caution is needed especially in the interpretation of large Arctic warming in the early 1900s, which is often regarded as a natural variability in the Arctic region.

Selection of Antagonistic Soil Actinomycetes Against Both Colletotrichum orbiculare and Botrytis cinerea in Cucumber Plants (오이 탄저병원균과 잿빛곰팡이병원균에 억제 효과가 있는 방선균 선발)

  • The purpose of this study is to select actinomycetes with antifungal activity against Botrytis cinerea and Colletotrichum orbiculare, which are airborne pathogens in cucumber plants. In 2020, 560 species of actinomycetes were isolated from rhizome soils of various vegetables in Korea; 7 strains showing simultaneous antifungal activity against two pathogens were selected. Finally, strain S20-465 was selected through dual culture and plant assay. This strain was identified as Streptomyces sp. based on 16S rRNA analysis. The culture filtrate of strain S20-465 inhibited mycelial growth of both pathogens by more than 60%. In addition, when cucumber plants were treated with 20-fold and 40-fold diluted culture filtrates of S20-465, lesions caused by B. cinerea and C. orbiculare on cucumber leaves were significantly reduced compared to the control. This results suggest that strain S20-465 produces specific secondary metabolites with antifungal activity against both pathogens.
