  • In a variety of animal species, the perinatal exposure of experimental animals to the 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzop-dioxin (TCDD) leads to the immune dysfunction, which is more severe and persistent than that caused by adult exposure. We report here the changes of gene expression and the identification of the marker-genes representing the dioxin exposure. The expressions of the transcripts were analyzed using the 11 K oligonucleotidemicroarray from the bone marrow cells of male C57BL/6J mice after an intraperitoneal injection of $1{\mu}g$ TCDD/kg body weight at various time intervals: gestational 6.5 day(G6.5), 13.5 day(G13.5), 18.5 day(G18.5), and postnatal 3 (P3W)and 6 week (P6W). The type of self-organizing maps(SOM) representing the specific exposure dioxin could be identified as follows; G6.5D(C14), G13.5D(C0, C5, C10, C18), G18.5D(7): P3W(C2, C21), and P6W(C4, C15, C20). The candidate marker-genes were restricted to the transcripts, which could be consistently expressed greater than $\pm$2-fold in three experiments. The resulting candidates were 85 genes, the characteristics of that were involved in cell physiology and cell functions such as cell proliferation and immune function. We identified the biomarker-genes for dioxin exposure: smc -like 2 from SOM C14 for the dioxin exposure at G6.5D, focal adhesion kinase and 6 other genes from C0, and protein tyrosine phosphatase 4a2 and 3 other genes from C5 for G13.5D, platelet factor 4 from C7 for G18.5D, fos from C2 for P3W.

  • In the previous study, the anti-oxidant activity of oxtract/fraction of Sueada aspparagoides(SA) and the stability test for the cream containing SA extract were investigated respectively[1,2]. In this study, the components of SA extract were analyzed by TLC, HPLC, and LC/ESI-MS/MS, $^1H$-NMR. TLC chromatogram of ethyl acetate fraction of SA extract revealed 5 bands $(SA1{\sim}SA5)$. HPLC chromatogram of aglycone fractions obtained from deglycoylation reaction of ethyl acetate fraction showed 2 bands (SAA 2 and SAA 1), which were identified as quercetin (composition ratio, 16.88%) and kaempferol (83.12%) in the order of elution time. Among 5 bands of TLC chromatogram, 4 bands $(SA2{\sim}SA5)$ also were Identified as kaempferol-3-O-glucoside (SA 2), quercetin-3-O-glucoside (SA3), kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside (SA 4), quercetin-3-O-rutinoside (SA 5) by LC/ESI-MS/MSMS/MS. respectively. The spectrum generated for SAA 1 by LC/ESI-MS/MS in the negative ion mode also gave the ion corresponding to the deprotonated aglycone $[M-H]^-$ (285m/z), the $^1H$-NMR spectrum contained signals [${\delta}$ 6.19 (1H, d, J=1.8Hz, H-6), ${\delta}$ 6.44 (1H, d, J=1.8Hz, H-8), ${\delta}$ 6.92 (2H, d, J=9.0Hz, H-3', 5'), ${\delta}$ 8.04 (2H, d, J=9.0Hz, H-2', 6', thus SAA 1 was identified as kaempferol. SAA 2 yielded the deprotonated agycone ion $[M-H]^-$ (301m/z), $^1H$-NMR spectrum showed signals [${\delta}$ 6.20 (1H, d, J=2.0Hz, H-6), ${\delta}$ 6.42 (1H, d, J=2.0Hz, H-8), ${\delta}$ 6.90 (1H, d, J=8.6Hz, H-5'), ${\delta}$ 7.55 (1H, dd, J=8.6, 2.2Hz, H-6'), ${\delta}$ 7.69 (1H, d, J=2.2Hz, H-2', thus SAA 2 was Identified as quercetin. In conclusion, with the anti-oxidant activity and the stability test reported previously, component analysis of SA extracts could be applicable to new cosmeceuticals.

  • In this paper, we propose a wireless video transmission scheme, providing medium and long range communication in the 2.4GHz band with beamforming. With this scheme, it is shown that the transmission rate of 32Mbps and received signal power of -77dBm is achieved with 4 antennas of 5dBi and 16dBm transmit power at each antenna connection for the distance of 3.6km. The scheme also provides transmission distance of 20km for 10~12Mbps with the 4 omni-directional antennas of 5dBi.

  • This experiment was conducted to determine seed storage protein pattern and structural character of differed peanut cultivars during germination. Soluble protein content in both Namdae and Daekwang cultivars remarkably decreased in cotyledon site at 2 or 3 days after incubation(DAI) and in embryonic axis site at 1 or 2 DAI, showing 28∼29% in cotyledon site and 10% in embryonic axis site at 5 DAI. Protein subunits such as 66, 43, 40 and 35.5kD bands in the cotyledon site of Namdae and Daekwang cultivars disappeared, but 21.5-23kD band disappeared slightly, but low polypeptide band such as 14-16kD increased gradually, and the same trend has been obserbed in embryonic axis site during 2 DAI. The amount of new protein formed during germination period was highest in cotyledon site at 3 DAI, and in embryonic axis site at 2 DAI. 16kD bend detected in cotyledon site of Daekwang cultivar during germination.

  • A study involving nutrient balances and radioisotope labeling techniques was undertaken to study energy and protein metabolism, and glucose kinetics of female crossbred Etawah goats, using 12 weaned (BW $14.0{\pm}2.0kg$), 12 late pregnant (BW $27.8{\pm}1.8kg$) and 12 first lactation does (BW $25.0{\pm}5.0kg$). Each class of animal was randomly allotted into 3 dietary treatment groups R1, R2 and R3, that received 100%, 85%, and 70% of ad libitum feed. The rations offered were pellets containing 21.8% CP and 19.3 MJ GE/kg, except for the lactating does who received pellets (17.2% CP and 18.9 MJ GE/kg) and fresh Penisetum purpureum grass. Energy and nitrogen balance studies were conducted during a two-week trial. Daily heat production (HP, estimated by the carbon dioxide entry rate technique), glucose pool and flux were measured. Equations were found for metabolizable energy (ME) and protein intake (IP) requirements for growing goats: ME (MJ/d)=1.87+0.55 RE-0.001 ADG+0.044 RP $(R^2=0.89)$ and IP (g/d)=48.47+2.99 RE+0.029 ADG+0.79 RP $(R^2=0.90)$; for pregnant does: ME (MJ/d)=5.92+0.96 RE-0.002 ADG+0.003 RP $(R^2=0.99)$ and IP (g/d)=58.34+5.41 RE+0.625 ADG-0.30 RP $(R^2=0.98)$; and for lactating does: ME (MJ/d)=4.23+0.713 RE+0.003 ADG+0.006 RP+0.002 MY $(R^2=0.86)$; IP (g/d)=84.05-5.36 RE+0.055 ADG-0.16 RP+0.068 MY $(R^2=0.45)$, where RE is retained energy (MJ/d), ADG is average daily gain in weight (g/d), RP is retained protein (g/d) and MY is milk yield (ml/d). ME and IP requirements for maintenance for growing goats were 0.46 MJ/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$ and 7.43 g/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$, respectively. Values for the pregnant and lactating does were in the same order, 0.55 MJ/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$ and 11.7 g/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$, and 0.50 MJ/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$ and 10.8 g/d.kg $BW^{0.75}$, respectively. Milk protein ranged from 3.06 to 3.5% and milk fat averaged 5.2%. Glucose metabolism in Etawah crossbred female goat is active, but glucose flux is low compared to temperate ruminant breeds which may implicate its role to support production.

  • A facile synthesis of 4,5-(1',2'-diphenylethylenedithio)-1,3-dithiole-2-thione (dPhEDT-DTT) is carried out via a Diels-Alder type [2+4] cycloaddition reaction of 1,3-dithiol-2,4,5-trithione oligomer and t-stilbene. Molecular structure of dPhEDT-DTT is determined by x-ray crystallography: space group P1, a=11.694(3) Å, b=12.117(3) Å, c=14.688(3) Å, α=113.12(2)°, β=102.23(2)°, γ=107.02(2)°, V= 1699.1(7) Å3, Z=2. It turns out that dPhEDT-DTT crystallizes as a racemic compound consisting of (R,R) and (S,S) enantiomers. Coupling reaction of dPhEDT-DTO undergone in neat P(OEt)3 yields TTF(SEt)4 instead of ET derivative. When PR3 (R=OEt, OPh, Ph) is used in benzene, toluene or xylene, however, dPhEDT-DTO is decomposed.

  • This paper describes a monolithic Darlington-cascade amplifier (DCA) operating at X-band, realized with a 0.35-micron SiGe bipolar process, which provides 45 GHz $f_T$. A conventional cascade amplifier was also designed on the same process and tested to establish a reference. Compared to the reference cascade amplifier, the proposed monolithic amplifier circuit exhibits an improved gain of 2.5 dB and improved output power 1-dB compression point of 5.2 dB with 72% wider bandwidth. Measurement results show 19.5 dB gain, 11.2 dBm 1-dB compression power, and 3.1 GHz bandwidth. These results demonstrate that the Darlington-cascade cell is an advantageous substitute to the conventional cascade amplifier.

  • A low power concumption 2.4 GHz one-chip transceiver MMIC was designed and fabricated using $1.0\mu\textrm{m}$ ion-implantation MESFET process and packaged on a 24 lead SSOP. In the transmitter mode, it revealed conversion gain of 7.5 dB, output IP3 of -3.5 dBm, and noise figure of 3.9 dB at 2.44 GHz with 3.9 mA current consumption. In the receiver mode, it revealed voltage sensitivity of 6.5 mV/$\mu\$W with 2 .0 mA current consumption. Comparing the fabricated MMIC with the results of MMICs reported elsewhere, it was shown that the fabricated MMIC had good performance. The low power consumption 2.4 GHz transceiver MMIC is expected to be used for various applications such as wireless local area networks, wireless local loops and RFID tags in ISM-band.

  • In this letter, a parametric analysis of the Fresnel-field antenna measurement method is performed for a square aperture. As a result, the optimum number of Fresnel fields for one far-field point is guided as $M_{opt}=N_{opt}=D^2/{\lambda}R+5$, where D is the antenna diameter, ${\lambda}$ is the wavelength, and R is the distance between the source antenna and the antenna under test. For the aperture size 5 ${\leq}$ $L_x/{\lambda}$ ${\leq}$ 20, the tolerable distances for gain errors of 0.5 dB and 0.2 dB can be guided as $R_{0.5\;dB}$ ${\approx}$ $1.2Lx/{\lambda}$ and $R_{0.2\;dB}$ ${\approx}$ $2.0L_x/{\lambda}$, where $L_x$ is the lateral length of the square aperture. The tolerable distances for 20 ${\leq}$ $L_x/{\lambda}$ ${\leq}$ 200 are also proposed. This measurement guideline can be fully utilized when performing the Fresnel-field antenna measurement method.

  • In this paper, the system performace with the convolution rode using a Viterbi decoding and the one tap LMS(Least Meam Square) equalizer applied to the OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system, is analyzed through computer simulation. DMRS(Digital Microwave Radio System)is modeled as Rummler fading channel. In Simulation result, we known that the coding system improved about 3.6dB~10.5dB when BER is 10 $^3$and b is 0.1~0.2 in case of 16QAM(Qurdrature Amplitude Modulation). Also, we known that was improved about 19.7dB when the b is 0.1 and was demanded about 10.5dB when the b is 0.2 in case of 64QAM. we known that the soft decision improved about 2~0.9dB when the b is 0.1~0.2 in case of 16QAM and about 3.3~7.8dB in case of 64QAM. In the equalizer system, efficiency improved from the case of that Eb/No is more than 13dB.
