With recent attempts to improve quality and productivity, the prefabrication manufacturing system has been occupying an increasing share of the construction area. To minimize site work, material is more frequently being produced and partially assembled at a plant, and then installed at a site. For this reason, the production process is being divided and the materials are being delivered to the site after passing through multiple plants. With these changes in the production process, the materials delivery plan is becoming an important management point. In particular, as road transportation using trucks has a 71 percent share of the domestic transportation market, selecting the proper transportation path is important when delivering materials and equipment to a site. But the management system at the project design phase to calculate the delivery cost by considering the production process of the pre-fab material and the $CO_2$ emission at the material delivery phase is currently lacking. This study suggests a process design model for assembly production of the pre-fab material and transportation logistics based on carbon emission. The suggested model can be helpful to optimize the location of the intermediate plant. It is expected to be utilized as a basic model at the project plan and design phase when subcontractors make decisions on items such as materials procurement, selecting the production method, and choosing the location of the assembly plant.

The frictional pressure drop of a capillary tube flow is experimentally investigated for pure refrigerants such as R32, R125, and R134a and refrigerant mixtures such as R32/R134a(30/70 by mass percent), R32/R125(60/40), R125/R134a(30/70), and R32/R125/R134a(23/25/52). The binary interaction parameters for the calculation of viscosities of refrigerant mixtures are found based upon the data in the open literature. Several homogeneous flow models predicting the viscosity of two-phase region are compared to select the best model. Cicchitti's equation is known to be the most adequate for the prediction of the viscosity for refrigerant mixtures, which is used in the analysis of adiabatic capillary flows. A model for the prediction of the frictional pressure drop of single and two-phase flow is developed for refrigerant mixtures in this study. This model may be used to design and analyze the performance of a capillary tube in the refrigerating system.

This paper proposes a software-reliability growth model incoporating the amount of testing effort expended during the software testing phase after developing it. The time-dependent behavior of testing effort expenditures is described by a Logistic curve. Assuming that the error detection rate to the amount of testing effort spent during the testing phase is proportional to the current error content, a software-reliability growth model is formulated by a nonhomogeneous Poisson process. Using this model the method of data analysis for software reliability measurement is developed. After defining a software reliability, This paper discusses the relations between testing time and reliability and between duration following failure fixing and reliability are studied. SRGM in several literatures has used the exponential curve, Railleigh curve or Weibull curve as an amount of testing effort during software testing phase. However, it might not be appropriate to represent the consumption curve for testing effort by one of already proposed curves in some software development environments. Therefore, this paper shows that a logistic testing-effort function can be adequately expressed as a software development/testing effort curve and that it gives a good predictive capability based on real failure data.
Purpose: The drying of a thin layer of native cassava starch in a tray dryer was modeled to establish an equation for predicting the drying behavior under given conditions. Methods: Drying tests were performed using samples of native cassava starch over a temperature range of $40-60^{\circ}C$. We investigated the variation in the drying time, dynamic equilibrium moisture content, drying rate period, critical moisture content, and effective diffusivity of the starch with temperature. The starch diffusion coefficient and drying activation energy were determined. A modification of the model developed by Hii et al. was devised and tested alongside fourteen other models. Results: For starch with an initial moisture content of 82% (db), the drying time and dynamic equilibrium moisture content decreased as the temperature increased. The constant drying rate phase preceded the falling rate phase between $40-55^{\circ}C$. Drying at $60^{\circ}C$ occurred only in the falling rate phase. The critical moisture content was observed in the $40-55^{\circ}C$ range and increased with the temperature. The effective diffusivity of the starch increased as the drying temperature increased from 40 to $60^{\circ}C$. The modified Hii et al. model produced randomized residual plots, the highest $R^2$, and the lowest standard error of estimates. Conclusions: Drying time decreased linearly with an increase in the temperature, while the decrease in the moisture content was linear between $40-55^{\circ}C$. The constant drying rate phase occurred without any period of induction over a temperature range of $40-55^{\circ}C$ prior to the falling rate period, while drying at $60^{\circ}C$ took place only in the falling rate phase. The effective diffusivity had an Arrhenius relationship with the temperature. The modified Hii et al. model proved to be optimum for predicting the drying behavior of the starch in the tray dryer.
This paper proposes a grid-tied power conditioning system for fuel cell, which consists of three-phase current-fed DC-DC converter and three-phase PWM inverter. The three-phase current-fed DC-DC converter boosts fuel cell voltage of 26-48 V up to 400 V with zero-voltage switching (ZVS) scheme, while the three-phase PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) inverter controls the active and reactive power supplied to the grid. The operation of the proposed power conditioning system with fuel cell model is verified through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software. The feasibility of hardware implementation is verified through experimental works with a laboratory prototype with 1.2 kW proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell stack. The proposed power conditioning system can be commercialized to interconnect the fuel cell with the power grid.
A two-phase (gas and liquid) flow analysis solver, named CUPID, has been developed for a realistic simulation of transient two-phase flows in light water nuclear reactor components. In the CUPID solver, a two-fluid three-field model is adopted and the governing equations are solved on unstructured grids for flow analyses in complicated geometries. For the numerical solution scheme, the semi-implicit method of the RELAP5 code, which has been proved to be very stable and accurate for most practical applications of nuclear thermal hydraulics, was used with some modifications for an application to unstructured non-staggered grids. This paper is concerned with the effects of interpolation schemes on the simulation of two-phase flows. In order to stabilize a numerical solution and assure a high numerical accuracy, the second-order upwind scheme is implemented into the CUPID code in the present paper. Some numerical tests have been performed with the implemented scheme and the comparison results between the second-order and first-order upwind schemes are introduced in the present paper. The comparison results among the two interpolation schemes and either the exact solutions or the mesh convergence studies showed the reduced numerical diffusion with the second-order scheme.

Colloids such as exogenous biocolloids in a bioremediation operation can enhance the transport of contaminant in ground water by reducing retardation effects. Because of their colloidal size and favorable surface conditions in addition to their low density, bacteria can act as efficient contaminant carriers. When mobile bacteria are present in a subsurface environment, the system can be treated as consisting of three phases: water phase, bacterial phase, and the stationary solid matrix phase. In this work, a mathematical model based on mass balances is developed to describe the facilitated transport and fate of a contaminant in a porous medium. Bacterial partition between the bulk solution and the stationary solid matrix, and the contaminant partition among the three phases are represented by the equilibrium relationships. Solutions were obtained to provide estimates of contaminant and bacterial concentrations. A dimensionless analysis of the transport model was utilized to estimate model parameters from the experimental data. The model results matched with experimental data of Jenkins and Lion (1993). The presence of mobile bacteria enhances the contaminant transport. However, bacterial consumption of the contaminant which serves as a bacterial nutrient, can attenuate the contaminant concentration.

Sequence-Pair(SP) model represents the topological relation between modules. In general, SP model based floorplanners search solutions using Simulated-Annealing(SA) algorithm. Several SA based floorplanning techniques using SP model have been published. To improve the performance of those techniques they tried to improve the speed for evaluation function for SP model, to find better scheduling methods and perturb functions for SA. In this paper we propose a two phase SA based algorithm. In the first phase, white space between modules is reduced by applying compaction technique to the floorplan obtained by an SP. From the compacted floorplan, the corresponding SP is determined. Solution space has been searched by changing the SP in the SA framework. When solutions converge to some threshold value, the first phase of the SA based search stops. Then using the typical SA based algorithm, ie, without using the compaction technique, the second phase of our algorithm continues to find optimal solutions. Experimental results with MCNC benchmark circuits show that how the proposed technique affects to the procedure for SA based floorplainning algorithm and that the results obtained by our technique is better than those obtained by existing SA-based algorithms.

There are lots of industrial machines of which functions are achieved by operation of multi-phase fluids. Some of them take advantage of the characteristics of counter-current two-phase flow The maximum flow rates of gas and liquid phases which flow in opposite-directions (counter-current flow) are limited by a phenomenon known as a Counter-Current Flow Limitation (CCFL or Flooding) The mass and momentum conservation equations for each Phase were established to build a first-order hyperbolic partial derivative equations system. A new CCFL model is developed based on the characteristic equation of the hyperbolic PDE system. The present model has its applicationto the case in which a non-uniform flow is developed around a square or sharp-edged entrance of liquid phase. The model is able to he used to Predict the operating-limit of components in which mass and heat transfer are taking place between liquid and gas phases.

When the micro-Doppler (MD) image of a ballistic missile is derived, the translational motion compensation (TMC) method is usually applied to the inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) image, but yields poor results because of the micro-motion of the ballistic missile. This paper proposes an efficient TMC method to obtain a focused MD image of a ballistic missile engaged in complicated micro-motion. During range alignment, range profiles (RPs) are coarsely aligned by using the 1D entropy cost function of RPs as a mark, then the coarsely-aligned RPs are fine-aligned by using the minimum 2D entropy of the MD image. During phase adjustment, the gradient of the phase error is appropriately weighted and added to the previous phase error to further fine-tune the aligned RPs. In simulations using the point scatterer model and the measured data from the real missile model, the proposed method provided better image focus than the existing method.
