  • The cytotoxic activity of 13(E)-Labd-13-ene-8$\alpha$, 15-diol(1), isolated from the ethanol extract of Brachyglottis monroi was evaluated against tumor cell lines such as P388, SNU-C4 MDA-MB231, B 16 melanoma and A549 in vitro. By mean of spectral analysis particularly by the aid of various two dimensional NMR experiments, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR signals of (1) was completely assigned, and thus the structure of (1) was established unambiguously. Preparation and Curing Behavior of Polyurethane Coatings by Polyester/Lactone Polyol and HDI-biuret (폴리에스테르/락톤 폴리올과 HDI-Biuret에 의한 폴리우레탄 도료의 제조 및 경화거동)

  • Benzoic acid polyester/lactone polyol were synthesized by polycaprolactone 0201 as diol, trimethylolpropane as triol, adipic acid as dibasic acid, and benzoic acid as monobasic acid. Polyisocyanate prepolymer Desmodur N-100 of HDI-biuret type was used in this study. Two-component polyurethane coatings were prepared by blending benzoic acid polyester/polycaprolactone, polyisocyanate, wetting/dispersing agent, white pigment, and flowing agent. Various properties were examined on the film coated with the prepared polyurethane. They showed excellent physical properties such as abrasion resistance, accelerated weathering resistance, and yellowness index. They also showed good physical properties such as flexibility, impact resistance, 60$^{\circ}$ specular gloss, cross hatch adhesion, hydrocarbon resistance, and lightness index difference. Hardness of coating showed a little poor character. The introduction of polycaprolactone 0201 as diol in the polyurethane coatings improved the hydrocarbon resistance, impact resistance, and flexibility of coatings. According to the drying and curing behavior with the contents of benzoic acid, they seem to have reasonable coating properties such as drying time of 2 to 4 hours and pot-life time of 20 to 37 hours.

  • Several major polyacetylene compounds were isolated from the petroleum-ether fraction of fresh Korean ginseng roots through solvent fractionation. partition and silica gel column chromatography. Further separation of acetylenic compounds was accomplished by bonded normal phase HPLC utilizing a moderately nonpolar microparticulate column. The preparative separation for the various spectral measurements was carried out by low pressure preparative liquid chromatography. The chemical structure of these polyacetylenes separated was determined by UV. IR/FTIR. $^{1}H$ NMR. mass spectral and elemental analysis. These are identified to be heptadeca-1-en-4.6-diyn-3.9.l0.-triol [1] heptadeca-1.9-dien-4.6-diyn-3-ol. heptadeca-1.8-dien-4.6-diyn-3.10-diol and the 4th was denatured polyacetylene. heptadeca-1.4-dien-6.8-diyn-3.10-diol. Two different p-substituted benzoates of panaxynol were synthesized for the determination of exciton chirality. The circular dichroism spectra in the UV region show that panaxynol p-bromobenzoate and p-dimethyl-aminobenzoate constitute negative exciton chirality [2]. Isolated major polyacetylene compounds were irradiated in aerated solution with 300 nm UV light to obtain the oxidized product at the allylic alcohol center to corresponding carbonyl compounds such as heptadeca-1-en-4.6-diyn-9.10-diol-3-one and heptadeca-1.9-dien-4.6-diyn-3-one. These photooxidation compounds have en-on-diyne chromophore and undergo nucleophilic addition reaction with methanol to yield ${\beta}-methoxy$ carbonyl compounds such as heptadeca-9-en-4.6-diyn-1-methoxy-3-one and heptadeca-4.6-diyn-1-methoxy-9.10-diol-3-one.

  • A bacterium, which was named to be Bacillus sp. E64-2, capable of degrading endosulfan was isolated from the environmental sample using enrichment culture technique. The Bacillus sp. E64-2 was able to degrade 99% of 10 mg/L endosulfan in the culture media within 7 days at $30^{\circ}C$. Endosulfan diol was the only intermediate by the endosulfan degrading bacterial culture and the pH value of the culture media was significantly increased to pH 8.4 from pH 7.0 after 7 days of incubation. When the endosulfan and the crude extract of the strain were incubated, endosulfan diol was a major metabolite. Both the enzymatic reaction and the pH-increasing effect contribute to the degradation of endosulfan by the bacterial culture.

Preparation Conditions of Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein Soy Sauce for the Reduction of 3-Monochloropropane-1,2-Diol (3-MCPD) (3-Monochloropropane-1,2-diol(3-MCPD) 저감화를 위한 아미노산 간장의 제조조건)

  • The principal objective of this study was to assess the effects of various manufacturing conditions of soy sauce containing hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) (HVP-soy sauce) on 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD) contents. Various HVP soy sauces were prepared under different conditions of alkaline treatment and retention process. Derivatives of heptafluorobutylimidazole (HFBI) 3-MCPD were determined via GC/MS below $0.010{\mu}g/g$, which was sensitive with a good recovery rate. The quantity of 3-MCPD decreased with the pH and temperature of alkaline treatment, and the time and temperature of the retention process increased. Alkaline treatment at pH 10.0-10.5 and a 72 hr retention process were shown to reduce effectively the 3-MCPD contents of HVP-soy sauces. This result indicates that the manufacturing process, particularly alkaline treatment, and retention process would be critical steps in managing 3-MCPD contents in HVP-soy sauce.

Preparation and Physical Properties of Polycaprolactone Diol-based Water-based Polyurethanes for Split Leather Coatings (스플릿 레더 코팅을 위한 폴리 카프로 락톤 디올 기반 수성 폴리 우레탄의 제조 및 물리적 특성)

  • In this study, isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and dimethylolbutanoic acid (DMBA) were used on the basis of poly caprolactone diol (3M, 3.5M, 4M, 4.5M) for the synthesis of water-based polyurethanes for coating on skin layers of leather. Tensile strength, elongation, and adhesive strength of the prepared samples were measured. As a result of measuring the tensile strength, the tensile strength was found to be 4.09 kgf / ㎟ when 3 moles were applied, and 1.071 kgf / ㎟ when 4.5 moles were applied. Elongation was 366 % when 3 moles of PCL were applied, and 709 % at 4.5 moles. Adhesive strength was 2.887 kgf / cm when 3 moles of PCL was applied and 0.998 kgf / cm when 4.5 moles were applied.

  • A new nortriterpene, rhombenone (1) was isolated from the leaves of Hedera rhombea Bean (Araliaceae). The structure of this compound was established as 27-demethyl-20(S)-dammar-23-ene-$6{\alpha}$, 20-diol-3, 25-dione on the basis of spectral analysis including HMQC and HMBC techniques. Rhombenone (1) was the first 27-demethyl nortriterpene of dammarane type isolated from natural sources.

Comparision of the Properties of UV-cured Polyurethane Acrylates Containing Different Diisocyanates and Low Molecular Weight Diols

  • UV-curable polyurethane acrylate prepolymers were prepared from diisocyanates [isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), 2,4-toluene diisocyanate (TDI), or 4,4'-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate (H$_{12}$MDI)], diols [ethylene glycol (EG), 1,4-butane diol (BD), or 1,6-hexane diol (HD)], polypropylene glycol as a polyol. UY-curable mixtures were formulated from the prepolymer (90 wt%), reactive diluent monomer trimethylol propane triacrylate (10 wt%). and photoinitiator 1-hydroxycy-clohexyl ketone (3 wt% based on prepolymer/diluent). The effects of different diisocyanates/low molecular weigh dial on the dynamic mechanical thermal properties and elastic recovery of UV-cured polyurethane acrylate films were examined. The tensile storage modulus increased a little in the order of EG > BD > HD at the same diisocyanate. Two loss modulus peaks for all samples are observed owing to the glads transition of softs segments ($T_gh$) and the glass transition temperature of hard segments ($T_gh$). For the same diisocyanate, $T_gh$, decreased, however, $T_gh$ increased, in the order of HD > BD > EG. The elastic recovery also increased in the order of HD > BD > EG at the same diisocyanate. In case of same diols, $T_gh$ increased in the order of $H_12$MDl > TDI > IPDI significantly. The ultimate elongation and elastic recovery increased in the order of TDI > IPDI > $H_12$MDl at the same diol.l.
