Effect of Nitrogen Phosphorus and Potassium on Ginsenoside Composition of Panax Ginseng Root Grown with Nutrient Solution (영양액재배 인삼근의 진세노사이드 조성에 미치는 N.P.K.의 영향)

  • Panax ginseng seedlings were grown in vermiculite with nutrient solution different in nitrogen, phosphorus ana potassium level. Ginsenoside contents of root were investigated by high performance liquid chromatogram. Elimination or increase of one of N.P.K. increased or decreased total saponin content. Nitrogen was most effective (15.5% for-N to 8.9% for 3N) and potassium least. Similar trend was shown in each ginsenoside. According to coefficient of variation in one nutrient treatment or among all nutrient treatments ginsenoside Re was most insensitive to nutrient change and also other environmental factors and Rd most sensitive. Diol content (PD) was more variable than triol (PT) and variation of PT/PD was about half of them. Variation of ginsenoside content by nutrient change had no relation with the ginsenoside content. Similarity of ginsenoside pattern slightly decreased with the difference of saponin content by nutrient change. Root weight was significantly small only in tap water plot.

  • Acrylic terminated polyurethane prepolymers were synthesized by capping the NCO groups of polyurethane prepolymers, prepared from isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), polycarbonate diol (PCD) and dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), with pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA). Subsequently, silylated acrylic terminated prepolymers were prepared by capping the NCO groups of acrylic terminated polyurethane prepolymers with different types of silane coupling agents, glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) or aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APS). The average particle size of pure waterborne polyurethane solution, measured by the dynamic light scattering method, was increased from 14.3 nm to 208.6 nm by adding PETA and APS. Also, the coating film of silylated acrylic terminated waterborne polyurethane showed better abrasion resistance and pencil hardness than that of pure waterborne polyurethane.

Effects of Ginseng Saponins and its Fractions on Mouse Tryptophan pyrrolase Activity in vivo (생쥐의 in vivo에서의 Tryptophan Pyrrolase 활성에 미치는 인삼사포닌과 그 분획물의 영향)

  • 0.02 mg of Korean ginseng total saponins, and/or 0.01 mg of diol- and/or triol-saponin per 10g of boby weight per day were subcutaneously injected in mice weighing about 20g. The changes of tryptophan pyrrolase (TP) activity in vivo were determined and the following results were obtained. 1. With total saponins treatment, TP activity increased slightly after 3 hours, which was not statistically significant. The activity returned to its control level after 24 hours. One week treatment caused a significant. The activity returned to its control level after 24 hours. One week treatment caused a significant 61.11% increase. 2. With diol-saponin treatment, TP activity increased slightly after 3 hours, which was not significant. The activity increased 64.98% after 12 hours, and then again returned to its control level after 24 hours. One week treatment caused a significant 100.58% increase. 3. With triol-saponin treatment, TP activity increased 59.17% after 3 hours and it returned to its control level after 24 hours. One week treatment caused a significant 66.98% increase.

  • In this study, phosphorus polyols, having a molecular weight of 880 to 1,560 g/mol, were synthesized by reacting phenylphosphonic dichloride (PPDC), allylphosphonic dichloride (APDC), and ethylene glycol (EG) in solvent, to enhance flame retardance of polyurethane. Phosphorus polyurethanes were polymerized using the synthesized phosphorus polyols, polycarbonate diol (PCD), and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) by a melt polymerization method. As increasing phosphorus contents of the phosphorus polyurethanes, we observed that the remaining char amount increased. This tendency was also confirmed in the following UL-94V test. We found that when the synthesized phosphorus polyols were applied, the resulting phosphorus polyurethanes show UL-94V0 grade at above 0.5 wt% phosphorus contents.

  • In this study, polybutadiene based di-functional urethane acrylate oligomer (PB-UAO) were synthesized from polybutadiene diol and isophorone diisocyanate. And then, pressure sensitive adhesive films were prepared by mixing with synthesized oligomer, tri-functional acrylate monomer (Tris(2-acryloyloxyethyl) isocyanurate (TAOEIC) or Trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) or Pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA)), mono-functional acrylate monomer (Stearyl acrylate) and UV initiators. Effects of types and contents of trifunctional acrylate monomers on peel strength, tensile strength, elongation, thermal stability and water absorption property were studied. As the contents of tri-functional acrylate monomer increased, and as the molecular weight of tri-functional acrylate monomer decreased, peel strength, elongation and water absorption showed a tendency to decrease whereas tensile strength and thermal stability showed a tendency to increase.

  • Waterborne polyurethanes (WPU) was synthesized using polyester polyol and polycarbonate polyol containing 3-Methyl-1,5-pentanediol (MPD) in a branched structure. To compare physical properties, WPUs were synthesized using polyester polyol obtained from 1,4-butanediol (BD) and adipic acid and polycarbonate polyol obtained from 1,6-hexane diol (HD)/ 1,4-butanediol (BD). This study investigated the effect of polyol molecular structure (molecular structure in soft segments) on the physical properties of WPUs. In the case of WPUs synthesized using polyols containing MPD, 100% modulus and tensile strength were lower than that without MPD, and elongation was higher. The transparency of WPU films with MPD were slightly better than WPU films without MPD.

  • (1H-1,2,4-Triazolyl) methy-4-(sub). phenyl-5-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yliden (3) derivatives were synthesized and tested for their antifungal activities. The designed compounds with a 1,2,4-triazolylmethyl group at the 4-position of 1,3-dioxolan-2-yliden moiety were synthesized by reaction of difluorinated olefins(2) with (2R, 3R)-2-(2,4-dihalophenyl)-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-l-yl) butane-2,3-diol (1). These compounds were tested for in vitro antifungal activities against 16 fungi species. The MIC values were determined by the micro broth dilution method. In general, 1,3-dioxolan-2-yliden derivatives showed antifungal activities in vitro. Among them, (4R, 5R)-4-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-5-methyl-2-[1-(3,4-methylenedioxypheny)meth-ylidene)-1,3-dioxolon-4-yl(1H-1,2,4-triazollyl)methane showed superior antifungal activities to fluconazol and ketoconazol.

항바이러스 작용이 기대되는 6-azauridine의 acyclic 및 cyclic phosphate 유도체의 합성

  • 항바이러스 작용을 기대하여 6-azauridine의 2',3'-seco 유도체와 이들의 cyclic phosphate 유도체를 합성하였다. 6-azauridine으로부터 periodate oxidation에 의해 2',3'위치를 개열, 환원하여 얻은 triol의 3',5'위치를 acetonide 형으로 보호한 후 2'위치를 tosylation, azidation 하고 deprotection하여 2'-azido-2',3'-seco 유도체 (1)를 얻었다. 2',3'-diazido-2',3'-seco 유도체(2)는 6-azauridine의 2',3'-위치를 먼저 보호한후 5'위치를 benzoylation, 2',3'-deprotection, periodate oxidation 개열로 얻은 diol을 tosyl화 azido화 하고 deprotection하여 얻었다. 5'-azido-2',3'-seco 유도체(3)는 화합물 (2)의 합성시와 동일하게 먼저 2',3'-acetonide로 한후 5'-위치를 tosyl화, azido화 하고 deprotection, 2',3'-perodate 산화 개열등으로 얻었다. cyclic phosphate 유도체 (4)는 상기화합물 (2)를 4-NPPDC로 처리하여 3',5'-p-nitrophenylphosphoryltrioxy 유도체 (5)를 얻고 이것으로부터 3',5'-phosphoryltrioxy 유도체의 ammonium salt(4)를 얻었다. 이들 화합물의 DNA 및 RNA virus에 대한 antiviral activity는 현재 수행중이다.

A Facile Preparation of 2-(2-Hydroxyethyl)homoallenylsilanes Using In Situ Generated Homoallenylindium Reagent

  • In situ generated homoallenylindium reagents derived from the reaction of indium with 4-bromo-3-[(tri-methylsilyl) methyl]-1,2-butadiene reacted with a variety of aldehydes in DMF to produce 2-(2-hydroxy-ethyl) homoallenylsilanes at room temperatu re in good to excellent yields. 2- or 3-Hydroxybenzaldehyde that contains labile hydrogen was reacted with homoallenylindium reagent to provide the homoallenylsilanes. In the case of 4-formylbenzoic acid, the desired compound was produced in 88% yield. 4-Bromo-3-[(trimethyl-silyl) methyl]-1,2-butadiene was prepared from monoacetylation and mesylation of 2-butyn-1,4-diol, addition of trimethylsilylmethyl anion, saponification and mesylation followed by Finkelstein reaction.

Product Studies by HPLC on the Hydrolysis of the anti- and syn-Tetrahydrodiol Epoxides and the 1,2-Tetrahydro Epoxide of Naphthalene

  • The arene epoxides from naphthalene, 1β,2α-dihydroxy-3α,4α-epoxy- (1) and 1β,2α-dihydroxy-3β,4β-epoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene (2) (anti- and syn-diol epoxide), 1,2-epoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene (3), and 1,2-epoxy-l,2-dihydronaphthalene (4), are model compounds of the ultimate carcinogenic metabolites of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, ubiquitous environmental pollutants which may be causal in several human cancers. The product distribution in the hydrolysis of 1-4 have been studied by HPLC analysis of reaction mixtures. The yields of the trans product from the hydronium-ion-catalyzed and pH-independent hydrolysis in 9 : 1 (v/v) 20 mM buffer-dioxane at 25 ℃, respectively, were; 1: 98, 100; 2: 74, 87, 3: 95, 97, 4:100, 100. The results were rationalized by conformational equilibria of the epoxides and the carbocationic and zwitterionic intermediates from the epoxides.
