Negative Group Delay Circuit with Improved Signal Attenuation and Multiple Pole Characteristics

  • This paper presents a design of a transmission line negative group delay (NGD) circuit with multiple pole characteristics. By inserting an additional transmission line into a conventional NGD circuit, the proposed circuit provides further design parameters to obtain wideband group delay (GD) and to help reduce signal attenuation. As a result, the number of gain compensating amplifiers can be reduced, which can contribute to stable operation when integrated into RF systems. The multiple pole characteristics can provide wider NGD bandwidth and can be obtained by connecting resonators with slightly different center frequencies separated by quarter-wavelength transmission lines. For experimental validation, an NGD circuit with two poles GD characteristic is designed, simulated, and measured.

Characteristic Analysis of Two-Phase 4/5-Pole Switched Reluctance Motor

  • Design and analysis of a novel 2-phase 4/5 Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) is presented. The proposed motor employs a novel stator pole configuration. A novel SRM employs four-rotor and five-stator poles. The motor has no dead-zone and can be operate at any rotor position. The structure and operating principle are also described. The comparison between the proposed motor and a conventional two-phase 4/2 SRM is undertaken in this analysis. Furthermore, the Finite Element Analysis(FEA) and matlab-simulink are used to predict and simulate the performance of a proposed motor. The results of investigation indicate that the proposed structure offers a better performance in term of torque production.

An Enhanced Skirt Characteristics Triple-Mode Filter

  • This paper presents a compact microstrip triple-mode filter with enhanced skirt characteristics. The presented triple-mode filter configuration supports three transmission poles and three transmission zeros within the nearby passband. Two of transmission zeros are generated by a triple-mode resonator itself, and the third one is generated by small cross-couplings between the I/O ports. Each resonance condition and the transmission zero generation conditions are analyzed using an equivalent circuit. The bandpass filter is designed for a 2.4 GHz WLAN. The filter was fabricated with a relative dielectic constant of 3.5 and a thickness of 0.76 mm. The fabricated filter has a small size ($7.9mm{\times}7.2mm$, i.e., $0.107{\lambda}_g{\times}0.098{\lambda}_g$, where ${\lambda}_g$ is guided wavelength at a center frequency) and shows high performing skirt characteristics.

  • This paper is concerned with the robust control of LQ state feedback regulators with poles in a specified region in the presence of system uncertainty. The robust stability results for the constant and nonlinear time varying perturbations are derived in terms of bounds of the perturbed system matrices and the weighting matrices in the performance index of LQ problem. The theoretical results are applied to the gap control problem of an attractive-type-magnetic levitation system and the effectiveness is proved by the implementation of digital control using 16 bits microcomputer.

Optimization Shape of Variable-Capacitance Micromotor Using Seeker Optimization Algorithm

  • In the current paper, the optimization shape of a polysilicon variable-capacitance micromotor (VCM) was determined using the seeker optimization algorithm (SOA). The optimum goal of the algorithm was to find the maximum torque value and minimum ripple torque by varying the geometrical parameters. The optimization process was performed using a combination of SOA and the finite-element method (FEM). The fitness value was calculated via FEM analysis using COMSOL3.4, and SOA was realized by MATLAB7.4. The proposed method was applied to a VCM with eight and six poles at the stator and rotor, respectively. For comparison, this optimization was also performed using the genetic algorithm. The results show that the optimized micromotor using SOA had a higher torque value and lower torque ripple, indicating the validity of this methodology for VCM design.

Efficient Algorithms for Approximating the Centroids of Monotone Directions in a Polyhedron

  • We present efficient algorithms for computing centroid directions for each of the three types of monotonicity in a polyhedron: strong, weak, and directional monotonicity, which can be used for optimizing directions in many 3D manufacturing processes. Strongly- and directionally-monotone directions are the poles of great circles separating a set of spherical polygons on the unit sphere, the centroids of which are shown to be obtained by applying the previous result for determining the maximum intersection of the set of their dual spherical polygons. Especially in this paper, we focus on developing an efficient method for approximating the weakly-monotone centroid, which is the pole of one of the great circles intersecting a set of spherical polygons on the unit sphere. The original problem is approximately reduced into computing the intersection of great bands for avoiding complicated computational complexity of non-convex objects on the unit sphere, which can be realized with practical linear-time operations.

FMCW 레이더용 타입-3 PLL의 설계 가이드 (A Design Guide to Type-3 PLLs for FMCW Radars)

  • FMCW 레이더에서 주파수 램프 신호를 발생시키기 위하여 필요한 타입-3 PLL의 설계 가이드를 제시하였다. 그러기 위해서 개루프 전달함수의 크로스오버 주파수를 1 Hz로 정규화 한 조건에서 Pspice 시뮬레이션을 통하여 폐루프 특성을 비교하였다. 결론적으로 타입-3 PLL의 1) 위상여유는 45도로 하고, 2) 두 개의 영점은 같도록 하며, 3) PLL 차수를 높이기 위한 극점은 개루프 전달함수의 크로스오버 주파수보다 10배 정도 크게 할 것을 권한다.

Experimental and theoretical research on the compression performance of CFRP sheet confined GFRP short pole

  • The axial compressive strength of unidirectional FRP is generally quite lower than its axial tensile strength. This fact decreases the advantages of FRP as main load bearing member in engineering structure. In order to restrain the lateral expansion and splitting of GFRP, and accordingly heighten its axial compressive bearing capacity, a project that to confine GFRP pole with surrounding CFRP sheet is suggested in the present study. The Experiment on the CFRP sheet confined GFRP poles showed that a combined structure of high bearing capacity was attained. Basing on the experiment research a theoretical iterative calculation approach is suggested to predict the ultimate axial compressive stress of the combined structure, and the predicted results agree well with the experimental results. Then the influences of geometrical parameters on the ultimate axial compressive stress of the combined structure are also analyzed basing on this approach.

소형 경비함정 장착용 유흡착장비 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of an Oil Sweep System for Small Patrol Vessels)

  • 긴급하거나 광역으로 발생한 해상유류오염사고에는 방제정만으로 대응하기에는 한계가 있어서, 해양경찰청 경비함정도 방제작업에 동원된다. 본 연구에서는 소형 경비함정에 적합한 유흡착장비를 개발하였다. 장비는 고정지지대, 폴대, 슬라이드고정부 3개 부속품으로 구성되어 용접 또는 추가 구조물 설치 없이 소형 경비함정 현측 추락방지봉에 간단하게 토글핀으로 결속하는 방식으로 장착 및 분리가 가능하다. 각 부속품의 무게는 고정지지대 약 9.2 kg, 폴대(2개) 약 6.5 kg, 슬라이드 고정부(4개) 약 3.5 kg이며, 좌 우 $180^{\circ}$로 원활하게 움직이는 길이 3 m의 폴대는 갑판 방향으로 접어서 유흡착재 교체작업을 할 수 있다. 본 장비의 개발로 소형 경비함정에서 유흡착재의 투입 및 수거가 용이한 방법으로 개선되어 보다 효율적인 방제작업이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

  • 다수의 출력변수를 가지고 있는 실시스템에서, 출력변수의 측정치가 어떠한 사정(하드웨어상 혹은 제어대상의 특성 등)에 의하여 동시에 전부 검출되어지지 않고, 측정방식이나 성분이 유의한 것끼리 몇개씩 서로 조금씩 틀린 시각에 측정되어 차례로 디지틀 계산기에 입력되어지는 경우가 있다. 다시 말하면, P개의 검출량이 조금씩 틀린 시각 $kT_{o}+t_{1},kT}o}+t_{2}.{\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot},kT_{o}+t_{r}(0{\le}t_{1}{<}t_{2}{<}{\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}{<}t_{r}{<}T_{0})$에 각각 $P_{1},P_{2},{\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot},P_{r}(P=P_{1}+P_{2}+{\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}+P_{r})$개씩 측정되어 얻어지게 된다/ 본 논문에서 말하는 다중 시리얼 샘플링이라고 하는 것은 이와같은 데이터의 취득방식을 의미하고 있다. 종래의 관측기이론에서는 P개의 검출량을 가진 제어대상의 상태추정에는 P개이 데이터를 동시에 필요로 하고 있다. 따라서 종래의 관측기이론을 그대로 상기와 같은 대상에 적용하게 되면, P개의 측정치가 전부 얻어지는 시간 $T_o$마다 상태의 추정치를 갱신하는 관측기가 얻어진다. 그러므로, 이와같은 관측기를 사용하게 되면 임의의 시각에 한조의 출력변수가 검출되더라도 그 정보를 직접 이용하지 못하고 나머지의 출력변수가 전부 검출될 때까지 기다리지 않으면 안되게 되므로, 하드웨어사의 기능을 최대한 이용하지 못하고 있는 것이 아닌가 생각된다. 본 논문에서는 상기와 같은 시스템에 있어서, 한조의 출력변수가 검출될 때마다 관측기의 내부상태를 갱신해서 새로운 상태추정치를 얻을 수 있는 $'$다중시리얼 샘플링형 관측기$'$를 제안하고 그의 구성가능성을 증명한다. 또한, 다중시리얼 샘플링형 관측기의 출력으로 폐루프를 구성하였을 경우, 전체 제어계의 안정성에 관한 문제를 검토하고, 시뮬레이션에 의하여 본 논문에서 제안된 관측기의 유효성을 확인한다.유효성을 확인한다.
