  • This study was carried out to establish shelf-life of the chicken product by examining the changes of physico-chemical and microbilogical quality of it during the storage at different temperature and period. Chicken product was stored at $4^{\circ}C$, $10^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ for 32 days and its shelf-life was proved to by 2 days at $30^{\circ}C$, 4 days at $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ days below $19^{\circ}C$. There was no significant difference in pH and TBA value of the chicken product VBN content and mesophile count were most proper as a quality indicator because they were lower level until 30 days storage. But gas formation rates and sensory evaluation scores were proper as a quality indicator to estimate the shelf-life of the chicken product during the storage at the different temperatures because it was vacuum packaged. Q$_{10}$ value of the chicken product was calculated as 3.99 by examined data of gas formation rates and sensory scores. Estimated shelf-life of chicken product by Q$_{10}$ value was 1 day at $35^{\circ}C$, 4 days at $25^{\circ}C$ 16 days at $15^{\circ}C$ and 64 days at $5^{\circ}C$ respectively.

  • To investigate and compare the effects of air pollution near Seoul on soil ion, plant nutrient contents and plant growth, 14 Quercus mongolica forests were studied from Mt. Namsan in Seoul to Mt. Maebongsan in Kangwon-Do along the line transect. Soil pH values decreased as approached to Seoul. Concentrations of basic cations such as exchangeable Ca/sup 2+/, Mg/sup 2+/ and Na/sup +/ and effective cation exchange capacity(ECEC) in forest soil decreased as approached to Seoul. Ca/sup 2+/ and Mg/sup 2+/ contents in l-year-old Q. mongolica twigs decreased, but their K/sup +/ and Na/sup +/ contents increased as approached to Seoul. Ca/sup 2+/ contents in l-year-old Q. mongolica leaves decreased, but their K/sup +/ and Mg/sup 2+/ contents increased as approached to Seoul. Length of l-year-old twigs generally decreased near Seoul. Tree-ring analyses of Q. mongolica trees in Mt. Namsan and Mt. Yebongsan showed that mean tree-ring width in Mt. Namsan was narrower than that of Mt. Yebongsan from early 1970's to late 1980's.

  • Objectives: The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is one of the main public health challenges currently facing the world. Because of its high transmissibility, COVID-19 has already caused extensive morbidity and mortality in many countries throughout the world. An accurate estimation of the basic reproduction number (R0) of COVID-19 would be beneficial for prevention programs. In light of discrepancies in original research on this issue, this systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to estimate the pooled R0 for COVID-19 in the current outbreak. Methods: International databases (including Google Scholar, Science Direct, PubMed, and Scopus) were searched to identify studies conducted regarding the R0 of COVID-19. Articles were searched using the following keywords: "COVID-19" and "basic reproduction number" or "R0." The heterogeneity among studies was assessed using the I2 index, the Cochran Q test, and T2. A random-effects model was used to estimate R0 in this study. Results: The mean reported R0 in the identified articles was 3.38±1.40, with a range of 1.90 to 6.49. According to the results of the random-effects model, the pooled R0 for COVID-19 was estimated as 3.32 (95% confidence interval, 2.81 to 3.82). According to the results of the meta-regression analysis, the type of model used to estimate R0 did not have a significant effect on heterogeneity among studies (p=0.81). Conclusions: Considering the estimated R0 for COVID-19, reducing the number of contacts within the population is a necessary step to control the epidemic. The estimated overall R0 was higher than the World Health Organization estimate.

  • 0.03Pb$(Sb_{0.5}Nb_{0.5})O_{3}-0.03Pb(Mn{1/3}Nb{2/3)O_{3}-(0.94-x)PbTiO_{3}-xPbZrO_{3}$ ceramics doped with $CeO_{2}$ were synthesized by conventional bulk ceramic processing technique. Phases analysis, microstructures and piezoelectric properties were investigated as a function of $CeO_{2}$ content (0.03, 0.05, 0.1 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 wt%). Microstructures and phases information were characterized using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an X-ray diffractometer (XRD). Mechanical quality factor ($Q_{m}$) and coupling factor(kp) were obtained from the resonance measurement method. Both $Q_{m}$ and $k_{p}$ were shown to reach to the maximum at 0.1 wt% $CeO_{2}$. In order to evaluate the stability of resonance frequency and effective electromechanical coupling factor ($K_{eff}$) as a function of $CeO_{2}$, the variation of resonance and anti-resonance frequency were also measured using a high voltage frequency response analyzer under various alternating electric fields from 10 V/mm to 80 V/mm. It was shown that the stability of resonance frequency and effective electromechanical coupling factor were increased with increasing the $CeO_{2}$ contents.

  • Purpose: miR-205 is a tumor suppressor and plays an important role in tumor invasiveness. However, the role of miR-205 in human gastric cancer (GC) epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the molecular mechanism of miR-205 in the regulation of EMT in GC invasion. Materials and Methods: Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was used to detect the expression of miR-205 in GC. Further, the correlation between the pathological parameters and prognosis of GC was statistically analyzed. A transwell model was used to evaluate the effect of miR-205-3p on the invasion and migration of GC cells. qPCR, western blotting, and luciferase assay were performed to analyze the relationship and target effects between miR-205-3p and the expression of zinc finger electron box binding homologous box 1 (ZEB1) and 2 (ZEB2). Results: We found that the levels of miR-205-3p were significantly lower (P<0.05) in GC tissues than in matched normal tissues. Additionally, the expression of miR-205-3p was related to the tumor invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, lymph node invasion, and tumor, node, metastasis stage. Patients with lower miR-205-3p expression levels in the tumors had a poorer prognosis. The in vitro assays indicated that miR-205-3p could affect the invasion ability and EMT of GC cells by targeting the expression of both ZEB1 and ZEB2. Conclusions: miR-205-3p promotes GC progression and affects the prognosis of patients by targeting both ZEB1 and ZEB2 to directly influence EMT.

  • Background: Non-Hodgkins lymphoma (NHL) is a heterogeneous group of malignancies, originating in the lymphatic organs, whose incidence is increasing in developed as well as developing countries. Epidemiological evidence suggests that aspirin may reduce the incidence and mortality of several cancers. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the potential relationship between using aspirin and development of NHL with a meta-analysis. Materials and Methods: A total of 7 studies were included. Outcome was calculated and reported as odds ratios (ORs). Heterogeneity was assessed with Cochrane Q and $I^2$ statistics. Dissemination bias was evaluated by funnel plot visualization and trim-and-fill analysis. Results: Our analysis showed OR of developing NHL overall of 1(95% CI: 0.87-1.16, p=0.9), and in females this was 0.81 (95%CI: 0.72-.92, p=0.001) and in males 1.01 (95%CI: 0.82-1.26, p=0.86). The odds ratio (OR) of chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) was 0.85 (95%CI: 0.75-0.97, p=0.02), The ORs of follicular lymphoma (FL) and large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in individuals exposed to aspirin were 1.12 (95%CI: 0.86-1.45, p=0.37) and 1.03 (95%CI: 0.9-1.19, p=0.6) respectively. Conclusions: In conclusion, individuals taking aspirin do not demonstrate any change in risk of Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

  • Objective: On the hypothesis that grazing of cattle prompts organs to secrete or internalize circulating microRNAs (c-miRNAs) in parallel with changes in energy metabolism, we aimed to clarify biological events in adipose, skeletal muscle, and liver tissues in grazing Japanese Shorthorn (JSH) steers by a transcriptomic approach. Methods: The subcutaneous fat (SCF), biceps femoris muscle (BFM), and liver in JSH steers after three months of grazing or housing were analyzed using microarray and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), followed by gene ontology (GO) and functional annotation analyses. Results: The results of transcriptomics indicated that SCF was highly responsive to grazing compared to BFM and liver tissues. The 'Exosome', 'Carbohydrate metabolism' and 'Lipid metabolism' were extracted as the relevant GO terms in SCF and BFM, and/or liver from the >1.5-fold-altered mRNAs in grazing steers. The qPCR analyses showed a trend of upregulated gene expression related to exosome secretion and internalization (charged multivesicular body protein 4A, vacuolar protein sorting-associated protein 4B, vesicle associated membrane protein 7, caveolin 1) in the BFM and SCF, as well as upregulation of lipolysis-associated mRNAs (carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A, hormone-sensitive lipase, perilipin 1, adipose triglyceride lipase, fatty acid binding protein 4) and most of the microRNAs (miRNAs) in SCF. Moreover, gene expression related to fatty acid uptake and inter-organ signaling (solute carrier family 27 member 4 and angiopoietin-like 4) was upregulated in BFM, suggesting activation of SCF-BFM organ crosstalk for energy metabolism. Meanwhile, expression of plasma exosomal miR-16a, miR-19b, miR-21-5p, and miR-142-5p was reduced. According to bioinformatic analyses, the c-miRNA target genes are associated with the terms 'Endosome', 'Caveola', 'Endocytosis', 'Carbohydrate metabolism', and with pathways related to environmental information processing and the endocrine system. Conclusion: Exosome and fatty acid metabolism-related gene expression was altered in SCF of grazing cattle, which could be regulated by miRNA such as miR-142-5p. These changes occurred coordinately in both the SCF and BFM, suggesting involvement of exosome in the SCF-BFM organ crosstalk to modulate energy metabolism.

  • Inserting the $cI_{857}$ structural gene in the downstream of the tac promoter for the overproduction of $cI_{857}$ repressor protein was studied. DNA fragment containing $cI_{857}$ ; repressor gene was amplified by using plasmid pUC12, and partially digested with HphI. Only the $cI_{857}$ structural gene isolated was inserted in the downstream of the tac promoter. Plasmid pDR540- $cI_{857}$ having the tuc promoter-$cI_{857}$ structural gene insert could be isolated by the immunity of cells resistant at $30^{\circ}C$ and cell lysis at $42^{\circ}C$ to $\lambda$ phage $cI_{90}$. The amount of $cI_{857}$ repressor as 17% of total cellular protein were produced by using general E. coli as well as $lacI^q$ JM103 having this plasmid.

  • This experiment first cloned some microsatellite sequences for goose species by magnetic beads enriched method and studied the genetic structure research of 14 indigenous grey goose breeds using 19 developed and 12 searched microsatellite markers with middle polymorphism. According to the allele frequencies of 31 microsatellite sites, mean heterozygosity (H), polymorphism information content (PIC) and $D_A$ genetic distances were calculated for 31-microsatellite sites. The results showed that 25 of 31microsatellite sites were middle polymorphic, so the 25 microsatellite markers were effective markers for analysis of genetic relationship among goose breeds. The mean heterozygosity was between 0.4985 and 0.6916. The highest was in the Xupu (0.6916), and in the Yan was the lowest (0.4985) which was consistent with that of PIC. The phylogenetic tree was completed through analysis of UPGMA. Fencheng Grey, Shoutou, Yangjiang and Magang were grouped firstly, then Xongguo Grey, Wugang Tong, Changle and Youjiang were the second group; Gang, Yan Xupu and Yili were the third group; Yongkang Grey and Wuzeng were the fourth group. The results could provide basic molecular data for the research on the characteristics of local breeds in the eastern China, and a scientific basis for the conservation and utilization of those breeds.

  • The grouting method is to reinforce the ground by injecting the chemical solution for the strengthening of the ground. Cement grouting material has usually used portland cement for centuries ago, but the cement particle size is large and the injection effect is limited. This study analyzes the effect of ultrafine cement grouting in rock ground using 3S-1 grouting in rock ground and ordinary Portland cement (OPC). The results of tests were compared and analyzed from the Lugeon test, bore loading test (P.M.T.), and injection (P-Q) test. The use of ultrafine cement (3S-1) had a higher effect (K, 10-6cm/sec) than OPC. The reinforcement effect of 3S-1 was also confirmed. Ultrafine cement (3S-1) was 4~9 times more injectable than OPC. Therefore, it is more advantageous to use ultrafine cement (3S-1) than OPC.
