Objectives: This study was performed to review studies on Essential Tremor (ET) in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Methods: We reviewed papers in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) from 2007~2016. Search keywords were 原发性震颤, 特发性震颤, essential tremor and idiopathic tremor, and excluded non-clinical studies, non-related to ET or TCM studies, theses for degrees and non-Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT). The quality of the articles was assessed by Jadad scale and the Risk of Bias (RoB). Results: Thirteen studies were selected. 'Criteria for the diagnosis of ET' was most frequently used as diagnostic criteria. 'Tremor rating scale' was primarily used for outcome measurement. Meta-analysis of nine trials revealed the effective rate of acupuncture and Western medicine (WM+Acu) groups was significantly higher compared to the WM group (RR: 1.48, 95 percent CI: 1.20 to 1.82, p=0.0002, $I^2=0$ percent) and tremor rating scale was also significantly decreased in the treatment group (MD: -1.35, 95 percent CI: -2.17 to -0.54, p=0.001, $I^2=0$ percent). Also, effective rates of Electro-acupuncture (EA) and Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) groups were significantly higher than that of the WM group {(RR: 1.53, 95 percent CI: 1.22 to 1.92, p=0.0003, $I^2=0$ percent) in EA vs. WM and (RR: 1.35, 95 percent CI: 1.16 to 1.57, p<0.0001, $I^2=0$ percent) in CHM vs. WM}. However, the quality of selected clinical studies was poor. Conclusions: Treatment of ET in TCM may be more effective and safe than in Western medicine. Therefore, we hope this study will lead to further clinical research on treatment of ET in Korean medicine.
The mature wheat embryo is arguably one of the best explants for genetic transformation because of its unlimited availability and lack of growth season restriction. However, an efficient regeneration system using mature wheat embryos (Triticum aestivum L.) is still not available. To identify genes related to the tissue culture response (TCR) of wheat, QTLs for callus induction from mature embryos and callus regeneration were mapped using an RIL population derived from the cross of 'Wangshuibai' with 'Nanda2419', which has a good TCR. By whole genome scanning we identified five, four and four chromosome regions conditioning, respectively, percent embryos forming a callus (PEFC), percent calli regenerating plantlets (PCRP), and number of plantlets per regenerating callus (NPRC). The major QTLs QPefc.nau-2A and QPcrp.nau-2A were mapped to the long arm of chromosome 2A, explaining up to 22.8% and 17.6% of the respective phenotypic variance. Moreover, two major QTLs for NPRC were detected on chromosomes 2D and 5D; these together explained 51.6% of the phenotypic variance. We found that chromosomes 2A, 2D, 5A, 5B and 5D were associated via different intervals with at least two of the three TCR indexes used. Based on this study and other reports, the TCRs of different explant types of wheat may be under the control of shared or tightly linked genes, while different genes or gene combinations may govern the stages from callus induction to plantlet regeneration. The importance of group 2 and 5 chromosomes in controlling the TCRs of Triticeae crops and the likely conservation of the corresponding genes in cereals are discussed.
Despite the extensive study of protein effect to man and domestic animals, protein effect of sunflower seed oil cake to the growth and value of erythrocyte in rats is still remained to be investigated. This study is to investigate the effect of protein of sunflower seed oil cake to the rat growth and value of erythrocyte as well as the liver weight, heart, kidneys and spleen of rats. Sixty to seventy-days-old, male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 50-60g, were used in this experiment and 36 rats allotted to 4 groups: standard, 30% cake, 20% cake and low protein. The standard group was fed for 7 weeks on the ration supplemented with 17% casein, 30% and 20% cake groups with sunflower seed oil cake by 30% and 20%, respectively, and low protein group without any supplementation. To observe value of erythrocyte, blood was taken from heart. Value of erythrocyte, hemoglobin and hematocrit value were determined by usual method and oxygen consumption by the method of Watts and Gourley. The result of this experiment suggests that it is recommendable to supplement deficient amino acids in animal.
The purpose of this study was to investigate dietary behaviors, body image, hematological index and nutrient intake of female athletes in Incheon. The subjects were 112 female athletes (field and track: n=32, firing: n=27, fencing: n=29, swimming: n=14, badminton: n=10) from middle and high schools in Incheon. This cross-sectional study was conducted by a self-administered questionnaire. Fasting blood samples were obtained and analyzed for hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit(Hct), ferritin, serum iron, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), unsaturated iron binding capacity (UBC), total iron binding capacity (TIBC) and transferrin saturation (TS). Nutrient intakes collected from 3 day-recalls were analyzed by the Computer Aided Nutritional Analysis Program. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 10.0 program. The results are summarized as follows: Average age of field and track athletes, firing, fencer and swimmer was 14 years and that of badmintoner was 17 years. Most of female athletes had dietary problems such as unbalanced meals, skipping meals, and preference of processed foods. More than 60% of female athletes skipped breakfast. As for perception of body image, most of female athletes perceived themselves fatter compared to normal body image. Especially, field and track athletes were more significantly experienced weight control compared to the other athletes (p<0.05). As for physical burden during exercise, 56.3% of swimmer and 31.3% of field and track athletes answered “very hard”, which showed a significant difference (p<0.001) More than 80% of female athletes had experienced a vertigo during exercise (p<0.01). Also, more than 50% of female athletes except badmintoner had experienced an irregular menstruation (p<0.05). Average serum iron level (p<0.05) and TS (p<0.05) of field and track athletes were significantly lower compared to the other athletes. Serum ferritin of badmintoner, field and track athletes and fencer was significantly lower compared to firing and swimmer (p<0.05). Nutrient intakes of female athletes except vitamin B6, niacin and phosphorus were lower than the Korean RDA. Especially, calcium and iron intakes of female athletes were under the 50% of the Korean RDA. Therefore, proper nutrition education and supplementation are required for female athletes to encourage desirable food habits as well as to improve their nutritional status and exercise performance.
Four different oligosaccharides used to determine their effects on gelatinization and retrogradation of Backsulgies(BSG), Korean traditional rice cake, were cyclodextrin, isomaltooligosaccharide, fructooligosaccharide and maltotetrose, with 3 or 6%(w/w), based on the rice flour. From the Amylograph and blue value data, adding 6% cyclodextrin into the rice flour fastened the gelatinzation process, and delayed the retrogradation in stored BSG at 4$\^{C}$ for up to 3 days, probably due to its cyclic structure. Using rheometer, the hardness of freshly made BSG added with cyclodextrin was significantly lower than that of control BSG, and increased with storage time in all BSGs at refrigerated temperature. When using maltotetrose in rice flour, the hardness of BSG was also significantly low, but slightly higher than that of cyclodextrin. Hunter “L” value in BSG decreased with the addition of oligosaccharides, but the higher the level of oligosaccharide in BSG, the insignificant the Hunter “a”,“b” values of BSG. From the X-ray diffraction studies, the rice flour showed typical A pattern, and the crystallinities of all BSG gave amorphous V type. The highest peaks of X-ray patterns in BSG added with 6% cyclodextrin or maltotetrose were, however, lower than that of the control, meaning the less crystalline, retrograded starch in the former BSGs. Based on sensory evaluation, BSG added with all oligosacchrides were not significantly different in taste, flavor, chewiness, moistness and overall preferences, with slightly darker color with longer storage time, compared to the control BSG.

This study has been performed to investigate the effect of Al addition on High Temperature Gas Nitriding (HTGN) in 13%Cr-0.16%C stainless steel with different Al contents of 0.54%, 1.76% and 2.36%, respectively. HTGN treatment was carried out at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr, 5 hrs and 10 hrs. Nitrogen-permeated surface layers showed round type carbides of $Cr_{23}C_6$ and needle type nitrides of AlN in the matrix of martensite, representing 600~700 Hv. And the thickness of the surface layer increased with increasing Al content and HTGN treatment time. The inner region that was not permeated nitrogen showed chromium carbides in the mixed phase of martensite and ferrite for the 0.53% Al alloyed steel, however chromium carbides in the matrix of ferrite single phase were shown for the steels with the addition of 1.76%Al and 2.36%Al, representing the hardness of ~200 Hv. During nitrogen permeation from surface to the interior, substitutional elements of Cr, Al and Si moved toward the surface and interstitial element of carbon also moved from interior to the surface. This movement of alloying elements leads high concentration of these elements at the outmost surface, subsequently the lowest peak of substitutional elements were shown in the vicinity of near surface. After showing the lowest peak, the high concentration region of Al and C were formed due to the continuous movement of Al toward the surface. The long discontinuous precipitates of $Cr_{23}C_6$ and AlN were formed along the outmost surface owing to the high concentration of these alloying elements.
This study was conducted for the purpose of identifying the trends of nursing research and to suggest the direction of future research in the graduate levels of the study. The data was collected from 469 abstracts of master's and doctoral rapers from three graduate schools, one in Nursing, another in Education, and the other in Public Health Graduate College. The results of the study are as follows: The number of research was increased from 102 to 286 between the 1970 s and 1980's. The most frequently employed research design was descriptive studies in the master's level, but there was some balance between descriptive and experimental studies along with some qualitative approaches in the doctoral thesis. Patients were the most often studied sample group reaching 42% of the cases, though it Was noted that there was steady shift: toward the non-ratient population. With this shifting of the study sample, the places of the study also have showed some changes moving toward community. The most widely studied area was in clinical practice. Chronic illness, preventive, and health promoting areas of studies also increased in numbers. However, most of them were at the descriptive level of phenomena and only a few were concerned with cost/effective measures of nursing intervention. The number of variables studied repeatedly more than five times was 43. They were not only physical but also psychosocial aspects which imply the efforts to incorporate the whole person in nursing discipline. However, most researches with repeated studies showed little relation to previous studies, and thus little accumulation in knowledge. There was also little evidence of linkage to nursing theory in most studies of master's level. For the doctoral rapers, 17 out of 51 rapers showed specific theories related to the researches. Based on the above findings, the following suggestions were made. Various research design should be employed including case studies, historical studies, as well as qualitative approaches. There should be more effort to establish linkage between theory and research. The areas needing more attention are Korean Nursing History, Ethics in our Culture, Cost/Effective Measures of Nursing Intervention, Concept and Thory Development, and the Strategies for the Implication of the Research Results in clinical practice.
Recently it has been reported that vitamin A and retinol binding proteins (RBPs) in blood and urine were changed in the condition of diabetes mellitus or hyperlipidemia. Fruits and vegetables are recommended to consume for the people suffered from these chronic degenerative diseases. The main components of fruits and vegetables are dietary fibers, for example cellulose and pectin, of which function to affect the absorption and excretion of dietary fat and fat-soluble substances. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary fibers on RBPs mRNA expression in liver, small intestine and serum of rat fed high fat diet during 4 weeks. Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 121g on average, were divided into four groups; (Control; $17\%$ fat & cellulose supplement diet, HF0: $25\%$ fat & fiber free diet, B:.Uc: $25\%$ fat & cellulose supplement diet and HF0: $25\%$ fat & pectin supplement diet) . The rats fed high fat diet groups (HF0, HFC, HFP) tended to consume the food less than the control group, but FER of HF0 groups was significantly higher than the control (p < 0.05) . The weight of adrenal gland in high fat diet groups (HF0, HFC, HFP) was significantly less than the control. Total lipid in feces daily excreted and in liver did not show any significant differences among the groups. Total cholesterol in HFP group was significantly different from that of HFC group. Serum total cholesterol and triglyceride in other group tended to lower than other groups and HDL cholesterol higher. Consequently, AI (atherogenic index) was the lowest in HFP group. Vit A contents in feces daily excreted tended to lower in high fat diet groups (HF0, HFP) compared to the control group. That content in adrenal gland was the lowest in HF0 group, but not in liver. In HFP group were down-regulated cRBPI mRNA in liver and cRBPII mRNA in small intestine and up-regulated RBP and transthyretin expression in serum compared to the other groups. In conclusion, dietary fibers, especially pectin, in high fat diet might down-regulate the expression of CRBP I, CRBP II mRNA in liver and small intestine, but increase the secretion of RBP into serum and therefore inhance the bioavailability of Vit A through the body. The effect of methanol extract from Agaricus blazei Murill on the hepatotoxicity was investigated $CCl_4$ is one of the oldest and most widely used toxins for the induction of hepatic damages and fibrosis in experimental animals. In this study, male Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats were randomly divided into 6 groups of the control(C), $CCl_4(T),\;CCl_4$ and high fat group(TL) with matching sub-groups of Agaricus blazei Murill extract-fed groups of CA, TA and TLA. Methanol extracts of Agaricus blazei Murill were fed 50 mg/kg B.W daily via drinking water. A 1.2 mL of $CCl_4/kg$ body weight was administered by oral intubation twice a week for total of six times. The levels of total-cholesterol, TG, LDL and LDL-phospholipids were elevated by $CCl_4$ treatment as compared to the control(C). However, Agaricus blazei Murill methanol extract feeding in the group of TA and TLA significantly(p<0.05) decreased TG by 53.1 % and 17.9% compared to the internal control of T and TL, respectively. Triglyceride of TL was increased by 3.33 times(p<0.05) compared to the control(C) with $CCl_4$ and high fat administration from 3.78 mg/g to 12.60 mg/g liver. The extract(CA) also reduced kidney weight compared to the control(C). With the administration of high fat and $CCl_4$(TLA), the extract reduced the organ weight of both liver and kidney and further, significantly reduced TG, total cholesterol and GTP activity. Hepatoprotective effects of Agaricus blazei Murill on GOT, GPT, AP and LDH activities were enhanced by the extract feeding. Electronmicrograph showed that $CCl_4$ deteriorated the structure of cytoplasmic matrix with its uneven distribution. However, the extract reconstituted the damaged cytoplasm and stimulated mitochondriogenesis. The above results suggest that Agaricus blazei Murill may have a possible protective effect against chemically induced liver damage and further help to reduce the symptoms of fatty liver.

We evaluated physicochemical and sensory characteristics of 25 commercial salt-fermented shrimps by kind (Oh Jeot, Yook Jeot and Chu Jeot) by manufacturer (traditional marketer (TS) & company (CS)). Salinity and pH ranged 17.9∼28.7% and 7.82∼8.74, respectively, of which Chu Jeot was somewhat higher in salinity and pH, compared with those of the others. Amino nitrogen (AN), volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) and thiobarbituric acid reactive subjects (TBARS) showed great variation ranged with 21.41∼661.13 mg%, 263.2∼1180.2 mg% and 0.507∼1.322 $\mu\textrm{g}$/g, respectively. Hunter color of L value was 53.99∼67.45, a value, 4.98∼12.06 and b value, 4.45∼10.4. Physicochemical quality showed greater variations in Chu Jeot of TS than that of CS. Products of CS have higher salinity while lower VBN and AN than those of TS. Sensory results showed that mean scores of appearance, over-all taste, over-all flavor and over-all acceptability between TS and CS were not significantly different. The mean score of over-all acceptance was the highest in Yook Jeot. Physicochemical and sensory characteristics of salt-fermented shrimps in a PCA plot comprised of first principal component (68.36%) and second principal component (31.36%).
