  • This paper describes the design of SPST PIN diode switch which has a 2 kW high power handling capability within $50{\mu}s$ switching speed in $20{\sim}100$ MHz VHF-band. Design factors were investigated and it was confirmed by simulation that the characteristics of insertion loss, VSWR, and isolation met design goal. Also, the capability to handle 2 kW high power with maximum fast switching speed less than $20{\mu}s$ was confirmed and insertion loss less than 0.2 dB, VSWR less than 1.17:1, and isolation higher than 40 dB were obtained by experiments.

  • In this paper, It propose a new restoration algorithm of high resolution, which is reconstructed to high resolution image using low resolution image informations. The proposed algorithm is constructed based on super resolution theory, it is consisted of progressive steps of the integration and construction. It reduced a lot of data-processing capacity and noise with integration through sub-pixel movement and wavelet basis through a higher resolution. As a result, it is shown that the main information is maintained and the error rate is improved. Using expansion fuzzy wavelet B-spline interpolation in stage of construction, it is confirmed that we can achieve smoothing image and good resolution without blur and block.

  • A Gigabit Ethernet upstream transmission over a WDM-PON employing remotely wavelength-locked Fabry-Perot lasers has been demonstrated. We have successfully demonstrated a WDM transmission of four Gigabit Ethernet channels with 100 GHz channel spacing over 30 km conventional single mode fiber. The measured f-factor was larger than 17.1 dB. We have also investigated the beating noise characteristics of a wavelength-locked Fabry-Perot laser and showed the remotely wavelength-locked Fabry-Perot laser suppresses the intensity noise of the incoherent light injected, which cause a 6.3 dB SNR improvement compared with that of the conventional spectrum-sliced light source.

  • A lot of demand for parts of millimeter wave band, as would be expected 57~63 GHz band down conversion mixer was designed and fabricated using IHP 0.25 um SiGe process. Designed and fabricated mixer was double balanced type and located reduced 3D balun at RF port and buffer amplifier at outport for suppression LO signal and conversion gain. Fabricated mixer measured conversion gain of 13.8 dB, $P1dB_{in}$ -17 dBm and 88 mA of current consumption characteristics, respectively.

  • A low-power $1{\times}2$ polymeric thermo-optic switch with a trench structure is proposed and fabricated. The trench structure in the optimized region slows down the heat flow from the electrodes, which contributes to the reduction of power consumption. The temperature distribution in the polymer layers has been adjusted to increase the temperature gradient between the two arms of the Y-branch. For comparison, a $1{\times}2$ polymeric thermo-optic switch with no trench structure is fabricated together on the same substrate. In the device with a trench structure, the measured crosstalk is less than -17.0 dB for TE polarization.-15.0 dB for TM polarization. The power consumption is about 66 mW, which is 25% less than that of the device with no trench structure.

  • Conjugated linoleic acid, a functional lipid, produced from Lactobacillus plantarum (LP-CLA), has been demonstrated to possess apoptotic activity. The anti-proliferative and apoptotic potential of LP-CLA was here evaluated in vitro using the MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cell line as a model system. Proliferation of MDA-MB-231 cells was inhibited with increasing concentrations of LP-CLA with altered morphological features like cell detachment, rounding of cells and oligonucleosomal fragmentation of DNA. Flow cytometry confirmed the apoptotic potential of LP-CLA by ANNEXIN V/PI double staining. Furthermore, outcome results indicated that the apoptosis was mediated by downregulation of the NF-${\kappa}B$ pathway which in turn acted through proteasome degradation of $I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$, inhibition of p65 nuclear translocation, release of cytochrome-C from mitochondria and finally overexpression of Bax protein. Thus, conjugated linoleic acid, a natural product derived from probiotics, could therefore be a possible potential chemotherapeutic agent due to its apoptotic activity against estrogen receptor negative breast cancer cells.

  • In this paper, an on-board orbit propagator and compressing trajectory method based on B-spline for a lunar explorer are proposed. An explorer should recognize its own orbit for a successful mission operation. Generally, orbit determination is periodically performed at the ground station, and the computed orbit information is subsequently uploaded to the explorer, which would generate a heavy workload for the ground station and the explorer. A high-performance computer at the ground station is employed to determine the orbit required for the explorer in the parking orbit of Earth. The method not only reduces the workload of the ground station and the explorer, but also increases the orbital prediction accuracy. Then, the data was compressed into coefficients within a given tolerance using B-spline. The compressed data is then transmitted to the explorer efficiently. The data compression is maximized using the proposed methods. The methods are compared with a fifth order polynomial regression method. The results show that the proposed method has the potential for expansion to various deep space probes.

  • A new species belonging to Lycopodiaceae Mirb. Huperzia Bernh. s.l. is described and illustrated: Huperzia jejuensis B.-Y. Sun & J. Lim. H. jejuensis has been considered conspecific with H. integrifolia (Matsuda) B. ${\emptyset}$llg. ex. Z. Satou, but it is clearly distinguished by the characteristics of linear-lanceolate leaves with parallel margins from the base to the mid-part, minute dentate margins from the mid-part to the end of the leaf, and cuspidate gemma apex. Because the habitat of the new species was confined to Jeju Island, 'jejuensis' was chosen as the specific epithet of the scientific name of the new taxon.

  • This paper proposes a 401MHz-406MHz low noise amplifier for MedRadio applications. The proposed low noise amplifier adopts a common gate amplifier topology using current reuse gm-boosting technique. The proposed low noise amplifier shows better performance of voltage gain and noise figure than the conventional gm-boosted common gate amplifier in the same power consumption. The proposed current-reuse gm-boosted low noise amplifier achieves a voltage gain of 22 dB, a noise figure of 2.95 dB, and IIP3 of -17 dBm while consuming $170{\mu}W$ from a 0.5 V supply voltage in $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process.

  • This paper presents a CMOS impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) receiver implemented using IBM 0.13um CMOS technology for inner/inter-chip wireless interconnection. The IR-UWB receiver is based on the non-coherent architecture which removes the complexity of RF architecture (such as DLL or PLL) and reduces power consumption. The receiver consists of three blocks: a low noise amplifier (LNA) with active balun, a correlator, and a comparator. Simulation results show the die area of the IR-UWB receiver of 0.2mm2, a power gain (S21) of 12.5dB, a noise figure (NF) of 3.05dB, an input return loss (S11) of less than -16.5dB, a conversion gain of 18dB, a NFDSB of 22. The receiver exhibits a third order intercept point (IIP3) of -1.3dBm and consumes 22.9mW of power on the 1.4V power supply.
