Modeling and Simulation of HMI Behaviors of 3D Virtual Products using XML (XML을 이용한 3D 가상 제품의 HMI 행동양태 모델링과 시뮬레이션 방안)

  • In the virtual prototyping (VP) of digital products, it is important to provide the people involved in product development with the visualization and interaction of the products, and the simulation of their human machine interaction (HMI) behaviors in interactive 3D virtual environments. Especially, for the HMI behavior simulation, it is necessary to represent them properly and to play them back effectively according to user interaction in the virtual environments. In a conventional approach to HMI behavior simulation, user interface (UI) designers use UI design software tools to generate the HMI behavior of a digital product of interest. Due to lack of reusability of the HMI behavior, VP developers need to analyze and integrate it into a VP system for its simulation in a 3D virtual environment. As this approach hinders the effective communication between the UI designers and the VP developers, it is easy to create errors and thereby it takes significant time and effort especially when it is required to represent the HMI behavior to the finest level of detail. In order to overcome the shortcomings of the conventional approach, we propose an approach for representing the HMI behavior of a digital product using XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and for reusing it to perform the HMI behavior simulation in 3D virtual environments. Based on the approach, a VP system has been developed and applied for the design evaluation of various products. A case study about the design evaluation is given to show the usefulness of the proposed approach.

Fuzzy Steering Controller for Outdoor Autonomous Mobile Robot using MR sensor (MR센서를 이용한 실외형 자율이동 로봇의 퍼지 조향제어기에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes a fuzzy steering controller for an outdoor autonomous mobile robot using MR(magneto-resistive) sensor. Using the magnetic field difference values(dBy, dBz) obtained from the MR sensor, we designed fuzzy logic controller for driving the robot on the road center and proposed a method to eliminate the Earth magnetic field. To develop an autonomous mobile robot simulation program, we have done modeling MR sensor, mobile robot and coordinate transformation. A computer simulation of the robot including mobile robot dynamics and steering was used to verify the driving performance of the mobile robot controller using the fuzzy logic. So, we confirmed the robustness of the proposed fuzzy controller by computer simulation.

A Large-Scale 3D Visualization System for Port Container Terminal Simulation (항만 컨테이너 시뮬레이션을 위한 대규모 3D 가시화 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose a 3D visualization system that expresses the simulation results of port container operation monitoring and planning in terms of the movements of the surrounding environment including static and dynamic objects. It also enables us to objectively evaluate the operation model by way of animating the actual port operations. With XML-based design of object states, the port simulator visualization system (PSVS) that we propose has been implemented so as to maximize the interoperability with the existing port operation simulation (CATOS), and express the realtime animation of large-scale objects. The design method of PSVS system is explained, and its validity is experimentally examined.

  • This Study is about driving simulation after road design by 3D-GIS in digital elevation model from digital aerial photogrammetry. For designing roads efficiently it's very important to consider geographical features before design when analyze the view. Nevertheless, existing studies is mainly restricted in the mountainous, despite of using digital map or aerial photogrammetry and the study which used aerial photo in the area where the road designing is made really is not get executed. Therefore, this study will do 3D-road design and driving simulation by appling really road design data to topography, on the basis of digital elevation generated from aerial photogrammetry.

Comparison of pants pattern by adolescent boy's body type using 3D virtual simulation

  • The purpose of this study was to present a good pants pattern for boys aged 13-18 by comparing and analyzing the pants pattern according to lower body shape. And through it, this study was to provide basic data for pants production considering male student body shape. The pattern of this study used the industrial type Lee Hee-chun pattern and DC Suite Program for 3D virtual simulation. As a result of the appearance evaluation, there was a significant difference between the patterns in most items. Type 2 was rated highly, followed by Type 4, Type 3, and Type 1. Type 1 required correction of the length of the pants and the amount of crotch part, while type 3 required adjustment of the pants in the knee area. Type 4 required correction of pattern drawing method of crotch width, thigh circumference, and knee circumference. This pattern method was evaluated as suitable for slender body shape. This study suggests a pants pattern system suitable for adolescent boys by reflecting the body shape characteristics of adolescent boy with a change of body shape. It is expected that this will meet the increasing demand for fitting. In this study, we have examined 3D virtual simulation, not actual wear experiment, so it will be necessary to investigate the difference through actual clothing experiment for adolescent boys.

Developing of slacks clothing pattern for the elderly men using a 3D virtual garment simulation system (3D 가상착의 시스템을 활용한 노년 남성의 슬랙스 원형 설계 )

  • This study seeks to increase the satisfaction of elderly men when purchasing and wearing ready-to-wear clothes by designing a slacks pattern suitable for their body type, which is determined by analyzing their lower bodies using virtual avatars and 3D virtual simulation system. The study found the following. First, based on virtual visualization of the comparison slacks pattern, the waistline position was consistently the lowest scored question among the evaluation survey items. Interpretation of this dissatisfaction suggests that, because the front waistline falls below the abdomen, the lower body, and especially the abdominal shape, is unpleasantly emphasized. Second, by using a virtual simulation system, the study developed a new slacks pattern that considered the concerns of elderly men. The primary measurement changes were as follows: front waist girth W/4+1.5cm+0.5cm, back waist girth W/4+1.5cm-0.5cm, front hip girth H/4+2.5cm-0.5cm, back hip girth H/4+2.5cm+0.5cm. Third, the new slacks pattern's appearance was evaluated more highly than the comparison pattern, confirming the new pattern's appropriateness for elderly men. This study demonstrates how slacks and other clothing patterns designed in a 3D virtual garment simulator can be used to design more appealing clothing for elderly men, increasing the satisfaction of wearing ready-made clothes at older ages.

Resonant Type Wireless Power Transfer Using an Optimized Antenna at 1m Distance (1m 거리에서 최적화된 안테나를 통한 공진방식 무선전력전송)

  • This paper has optimized WPT (wireless power transfer) antenna, and compared EM (electromagnetic) simulation result with measurement for the magnetic resonant type standard of A4WP (alliance for wireless power) using 6.78MHz frequency and 1m distance. Power transmission distance is affected by various factors such as system shape, antenna size, and resonator coil pitch etc, which were confirmed by the EM simulation. By simulation an optimized WPT antenna was designed for a fixed distance, and the transmission loss ${\mid}S_{21}{\mid}$ has been calculated with changing distance. Measurement was carried for the fabricated antenna, and the measured transmission loss is 1.5dB with 70% efficiency at maximum 1.3m distance compared to the simulated loss of 1.6dB with 69% efficiency

A Development of Simulation System based on Scenario for Evaluation of e-Navigation MSP (e-Navigation MSP 평가를 위한 시나리오 기반 시뮬레이션 시스템 개발)

  • Recently, the development of Maritime Service Portfolios (MSPs) for the safe navigation of ship has been discussed internationally. For the successful service of the MSPs, first of all, studies for the standardization about the structure and data structure of MSPs should be preceded. Also, it is necessary to evaluate and assess whether the services are effective for safe navigation, and provided data and portrayal methods are proper. However, because great dangers will be accompanied when untested MSPs about their effectiveness and safety are applied in real ship navigation, it is necessary that effectiveness and safety of the MSPs should be proven under various navigational conditions and environments by simulation. In this paper, we propose a 3D navigation simulation system using desktop PC environment, which is proper for evaluating the effectiveness of MSPs. The system consists of three modules which are simulation scenario editor, 3D visualization of navigational environment and 2D navigational equipment. The scenario editor module provides an environment setting for simulation, such as properties, routes and positions of vessels and aids to navigations. It also provides functions to create a scenario for the simulation to operate. Additionally, the 3D visualization module provides 3D navigational environment which shows interplay between geographical and navigational environment based on the created scenario. The 2D navigational equipment module provides visualization functions of various navigational equipment, shows the interaction between ship's navigational equipment and ship's environment. The simulation scenario, in which various kinds of ships are routing in the port, is created by the developed simulation system, and experimented whether this developed system is appropriate to evaluate and assess the MSPs developed by the International Maritime Organization.

The Reliability of Preoperative Simulation Surgery Planning for Distraction Osteogensis in Craniosynostosis Patients

  • Background Craniosynostosis management using distraction osteogensis represent a challenge for surgeons due to the great variability of the skull deformity even within the same etiology. The ability to apply the simulation surgery for improving the preoperative planning for distraction osteogensis could improve the results.Planning and Simulation 14 patients presented with craniosynostosis had been subjected to simulation surgery prior to real surgery. 3D CT scans was obtained upon patient admission. Adjustment of all skull position to Frankfort horizontal plane was done. 3 different distraction osteogensis plans were done for each patient according to the skull morphology. For each plane, movement for each bone segment was done according to the pre-planned distraction vectors. Also the distances of distractions were pre-determined according to the cephalic index as well as brain volume. Intraoperatively, we choose the most appropriate plan for the patient by the surgeon. At the end of distraction, 3D CT scan was obtained, and was compared to the simulation plan. Also the distance and the direction of distraction was compared to that of the plan. Accordingly, the distance was almost matching that of the simulation surgery, however the vector of distraction was not matched.Conclusion Preoperative stimulation planning for craniosynostosis patient is very valuable tool in the surgical management of craniosynostosis patients.

Performance Analysis of the Pintle Thruster Using 1-D Simulation-II : Unsteady State Characteristics (1-D 시뮬레이션을 활용한 핀틀추력기의 성능해석-II : 비정상상태 특성)

  • This paper describes how to apply one-dimensional simulation to predict unsteady state characteristics of the cold-gas pintle thruster. Mass flow rate, chamber pressure, and nozzle exit pressure are key parameters for thrust control. Chamber pressure rose and fell monotonously with the pintle stroke variation, while thrust variation was different from chamber pressure variation. During the forward pintle stroke operation, the thrust value tended to decrease initially and returned to increase when pintle speed and chamber free volume exceed some specified value. Even though one-dimensional simulation has the limitations to predict unsteady state characteristics, it is still useful for initial performance assessment of various thrusters which adopt an altitude compensation nozzle such as a dual-bell nozzle, prior to experiment or numerical analysis.
