Silica fillers were coated by plasma polymer coatings of 1,3-diaminopropane, allylamine, pyrrole, 1,2-epoxy-5-hexene, allyl mercaptan and allyl alcohol using RF plasma (13.56 MHz). The coated fillers were then mixed with biphenyl epoxy, phenol novolac (curing agent) and/or triphenylphosphine (catalyst), and subjected to DSC analyses in order to elucidate the chemical reaction between functional moieties in the plasma polymer coatings and the epoxy resin. Only the samples with 1,3-diaminopropane and allylamine plasma polymer coated silica fillers showed heat of reaction peaks when they were mixed with biphenyl epoxy resin only, while these samples as well as the samples with 1,3-diaminopropane, allylamine and pyrrole plasma polymer coated silica fillers exhibited heat of reaction peaks when mixed with both biphenyl epoxy and phenol novolac (curing agent).
This work discusses the fabrication, development and potential response behaviors of $Ag^+$ ion-selective electrodes ($Ag^+$-ISE) based on N,N'-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-1,3-diaminopropane (L1) and N,N'-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropane (L2) as carriers. The observations indicated that the resulting electrode based on L1 toward $Ag^+$ showed stable near-Nernst slope approaching 58.7 mV/dec and the optimum potential response characteristics in a linear range at least five orders of magnitude with a detection limit of $1.0{\times}10^{-6}M$. The proposed electrode displayed the preferential selectivity to $Ag^+$ against other tested cations. The excellent potential analytical characteristics could lead to the successful applications of silver assay in significant real samples, indicating that the proposed $Ag^+$-ISE showed a significant advancement of measurement capabilities. But for the electrode based on L2, the poor potential response characteristics were observed in total experiment process.
Decrease in the amount of cotyledonary spermidine in Glycine max under anaerobic conditions related to an increase in spermidine dehydrogenase. Under the same conditions, no enzymatic activity of diamine oxidase was observed. Exposure of Glycine max both to spermidine and 1,3-diaminopropane under anaerobic conditions resulted in a decrease in spermidine contents. Correlated with the decrease in spermidine contents, there was a drastic increase in spermidine dehydrogenase. The molecular weight of the purified enzyme estimated by Sephacryl S-300 gel column and SDS gel electrophoresis were 130,000 dalton and 65,000 dalton, respectively, indicating that the enzyme is a dimer. The optimal pH for activity was 9.3. The $K_m$ value for spermidine was 0.61 mM. Neither metal ions nor polyamine and derivatives affected enzymatic activity, but the enzyme was inhibited by DTNB, NEM and PCMB, suggesting that a cysteine residue of the enzyme is associated with or involved in enzyme activity. To our knowledge, this is the first report describing properties of the enzyme from plants. Considered together, the data in this paper indicate that both spermidine and 1,3-diaminopropane, novel activators, enhance the spermidine dehydrogenase activity and control the intracellular spermidine contents.
Crystal structure of bis(1,2-diaminopropane)palladium(II) bis(oxalato)palladate(II) has been determined by X-ray crystallography. Crystal data: $Pd_2C_{10}H_{10}N_{4}O_{8}$, $M_W$ = 573.09, orthorhombic, space group $P_{ccn}$ (No = 56), a = 16.178(5), b = 16.381(6), c = 6.685(2)$\{AA}$, V = 1771.6 $\{AA}^3$, $M_W$W = 573.09, $D_c$ = 2.014 g${\cdot}c\;m^{-3}$, Z = 4, T = 294K, F(000) = 1056.0 and $\mu$ = 20.466 c$m^{-1}$. The intensity data were collected with $Mo-K\alpha$ radiation (${\lambda}$ = 0.7107 $\AA)$ on an automatic four-circle diffractometer with a graphite monochromater. The structure was solved by Patterson method and refined by full matrix least-squares methods using Pivot weights. The final R and S values were R = 0.065, $R_W = 0.059, R_{all}$ = 0.065 and S = 4.315 for 605 observed reflections. Both cation and anion complexes are essentially planar and have dihedral angle of $18(l)^{\circ}$ between thier planes. In the crystal structure, they do not have the Magnus's salt type mixed stacks; instead, the complex anions form regular stacks along the c-axis with the M-M bond length of $3.343(5)\AA$ and their stacks are surrounded by the complex cations through hydrogen bonds with the nitrogen-oxygen distances of 2.94(3) and $3.31(4)\AA.$
A novel ONNO-type tetradentate ligand, 1,3-diaminopropane-N,N'-di-α-(β-methyl)-pentanoic acid (H2apmp) and its cobalt(Ⅲ) complexes, [Co(apmp)X2]n+, (X=Cl-, NO2-, H2O, X2=CO32-, en, L-phenylalanine) have been synthesized. During the preparation of the dichloro cobalt(Ⅲ) complex of apmp, [Co(apmp)Cl2]-, the ligand has coordinated to the cobalt(Ⅲ) ion in a geometric selectivity to give only the uns-cis isomer and, during the substitution reaction between L-phenylalanine and [Co(apmp)Cl2]-, the L-phenylalanine has coordinated to the cobalt(Ⅲ) ion in a geometric selectivity to give only an uns-cis-meridional isomer. It is of interest that this is a rare case of the [Co(ONNO ligand)X2]n+-type complex preparations, which gives only an uns-cis isomer with geometric selectivity.
Silica for Epoxy Molding Compound (EMC) was coated via plasma-polymerization with RF plasma (13.56 MHz) as a function of treatment time, power and pressure. 1,3-diaminopropane, allylamine, pyrrole, 1,2-epoxy-5-hexene, allylmercaptan or allylalcohol were utilized for plasma polymerization coating and adhesion of coated silica was evaluated by measuring flexural strength. CTE and water absorption of EMC were also measured, and fracture surface of flexural specimen was analyzed by SEM in order to elucidate the failure mode. The plasma polymer coated silica was analyzed by FT-IR and reactivity of plasma polymer coating with epoxy resin was evaluated with DSC in order to investigate the adhesion mechanism. The EMC prepared from the silica coated with 1,3-diaminopropane or allylamine exhibited high flexural strength, low CTE, and low water absorption compared with the control sample, and also exhibited 100% cohesive failure mode. These results can be attributed to the chemical reaction between the functional groups in the plasma polymer coating and epoxy resin, and also consistent with the results from FT-IR and DSC analysis.
The title complex, $(C_3H_{12}N_2)[\{Cd(H_2O)(C_6H_5O_7)\}_2]{\cdot}6H_2O$, I, has been prepared and its structure characterized by FT-IR, EDS, elemental analysis, ICP-AES, and X-ray single crystallography. It is triclinic system, $P{\bar{1}}$ space group with a = 10.236(2), b = 11.318(2), c = $13.198(2){\AA}$, ${\alpha}=77.95(1)^{\circ}$, ${\beta}=68.10(1)^{\circ}$, ${\gamma}=78.12(1)^{\circ}$, V = $1373.5(3){\AA}^3$, Z = 2. Complex I has constituted by protonated 1,3-diaminopropane cations, citrate coordinated cadmium(II) anions, and free water molecules. The central cadmium atoms have a capped trigonal prism geometry by seven coordination with six oxygen atoms of three different citrate ligands and one water molecule. Citrate ligands are bridged to three different cadmium atoms. Each cadmium atom is linked by carboxylate and hydroxyl groups of citrate ligand to construct an one-dimensional ladder-type assembly structure. The polymeric crystal structure is stabilized by three-dimensional networks of the intermolecular O-H${\cdots}$O and N-H${\cdots}$O hydrogen-bonding interaction.
The process for the preparation of fungicide propineb starting with 1,2-diaminopropane was studied on the optimal condition base. Side reaction producing toxic material 1,2-propylenethiourea could be ieduced effectively by using phase transfer catalyst and the product was noticed to show a great improvement in yield and purity. Especially when the phase transfer catalyst tetraphenylphosphonium bromide is used, the yield and the purity of the product were found to be best with up to 95 and 96% respectively and the byproduct content was shown within 1.7%. Also, the contents of wetting agent AES and dispersing agent APS were optimally chosen $3.1\sim4.0%$ and $4.0%\sim5.0%$ respectively for the improvement of suspensibility and wettability of Propineb WP.
The sharp-line absorption and emission spectra of $(H_{13}O_6)${$trans-[Cr(Me_2tn)_2Br_2]$}$_2Br_2(ClO_4)\;(Me_2$tn = 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-diaminopropane) have been measured between 13000 $cm^{-1}$ and 16000 $cm^{-1}$ at 5 K. The 298 K infrared and visible absorption spectra have also been measured. The nine electronic bands due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions were assigned. Using observed transitions, a ligand field analysis has been performed to probe the ligand field properties of coordinated atoms in the title chromium(III) complex ion. The zero-phonon line in the sharp-line absorption spectrum splits into two components by 286 $cm^{-1}$, and the large $^2E_g$ splitting can be reproduced by the modern ligand field theory. It is confirmed that nitrogen atoms of the Me2tn ligand have a strong $\sigma$-donor character, but the bromide has weak $\sigma$- and $\pi$-donor properties toward chromium(III) ion.
N-Monoalkylations of ditertiary diamines succeed best in nitromethane or ethanol at low temperature. Unsymmetrical 1,2-diaminoethane, 1,3-diaminopropane and piperazine compounds react selectively under these conditions at the sterically less hindered nitrogen atom.
