  • We have conducted standard penetration tests and static cone penetration tests that are widely used the land base examination on the soft ground subsurface of Yongdong area, and examined the correlation between them. We have also made a comparative analysis of the correlation between the indoor tests on the materials collected on the site and on-the-spot penetration tests. The results are as follows : The relationship between Standard Penetration Test N-value and Dutch Cone Tset show $Q_c=1.93N+0.29$ for organic soil, $Q_c=2.19N+0.20$ for clay, $Q_c=2.34N+1.06$ for silt, $Q_c=3.02N+0.54$ for silty sand, and $Q_c=3.47N+0.46$ for sand. In this case of sand $Q_c/N$ increases when the soil particles are larger. The relationship between standard penetration test N-value and Unconfined Compression Strength $q_u$ show $q_u=0.11N+0.03$ for organic soil, $q_u=0.11N+0.25$ for clay, and $q_u=0.18N-0.03$ for silt.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Aruncus dioicus on annual soil erosion reduction effect. Based on the measured soil erosion data, the cover factor of RUSLE was calculated. Comparing calculated the cover factor and Chewings fescue cover factor for soil erosion reduction, It found that cover crop Aruncus dioicus of reducing soil erosion was effective. The amount of soil erosion according to the type of Aruncus dioicus covering was 2.22 Mg/ha, Chewings fescue was 1.85 Mg/ha, 10.60 Mg/ha was produced in the Bare ground. Cover factor of Aruncus dioicus was $0.09{\pm}0.03$ according to the type of covering, Chewings fescue was $0.08{\pm}0.03$, Bare ground was $0.35{\pm}0.10$. Weeds control Bare ground was $0.83{\pm}0.14$. The results of the variance analysis of the cover factor for each covering were different according to the cover type. As a result of the classification of the same group through post - analysis, it was found that the Aruncus dioicus and Chewings fescue were similar to each other. Therefore, the Aruncus dioicus was effective to reduce the soil erosion to the extent that it was comparable to the Chewings fescue.

  • To evaluate the performance of ultrasound imaging system, we investigated the change of spatial resolution according to changing sonic velocity change parameter provided by ultrasound equipment. Ultrasound phantom images were obtained using a 3.0 ~ 5.0 MHz convex transducer in an ultrasound diagnostic device used at a medical institution located at Iksan. N-365 multi-purpose ultrasound phantom was used to measure longitudinal distance measurement accuracy and longitudinal and transverse resolution. In the same manner, the sonic velocity of the ultrasound equipment was changed from 1580 m/sec to 1400 m/sec in six steps, and the full width at half maximum(FWHM) was measured using the image J program to determine whether the measured values were different. As a result, lateral resolution was measured from 1.91 mm to 5.3 mm according to the speed change, and the smallest FWHM was 1.91 mm at 1420 m/sec. The axial resolution was measured from 1.03 mm to 1.14 mm according to the speed change, and the smallest FWHM was 1.03 mm at 1400 m/sec. The slower the sound velocity of the ultrasound equipment, the shorter the length of longitudinal measurement.

  • p-Phenylenediamine dihydroperchlorate, $C_6H_4N_2H_4{\cdot}2HC1O_4$, crystallizes in space group $P\={1}$ with $a=4.79{\pm}0.02,\;b=9.03{\pm}0.02,\;c=7.12{\pm}0.03{\AA},\;{\alpha}=109.4{\pm}0.2,\;{\beta}=79.6{\pm}0.2,\;r=104.6{\pm}0.2^{\circ},\;Z=1$. The structure has been solved by the Patterson and Fourier methods. The refinement by block-diagonal least-squares cycles gives R = 0.13 for 387 observed reflexions collected on equi-inclination Weissenberg photographs with CuK${\alpha}$ radiation. There are two different types of five hydrogen bonds. The first type consists of one trifurcated N${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$O hydrogen bond and the second of two normal N${\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}$O hydrogen bonds, both of which exist between the amino group and the perchlorate, groups. A p-phenylenediamine group is approximately planar within an experimental error and bonded to twelve perchlorates: ten perchlorates forming hydrogen bonds and two being contacted with the van der Waals forces. A perchlorate group is surrounded by six p-phenylenediamines and four perchlorates; among the six p-phenylenediamines, five of them are hydrogen-bonded, and the rest contacted with the van der Waals force.ce anaysis of our samples and investigated the variarions in the values of parameters obtained through fitting the theoretical impedance to the experimental impedance. The characters of the dielectric constant and the impedance showed abnormal variations for the 0.2 at K-doped NSBN ceramics, which we were able to interpret in terms of the variations in the number A-site vacancies with the K doping ratio. From these results, A-site vacancies are thought to be space charges that influence the ferroelectric properties of NSBN ceramics.

The results showed that clothing insulation was $0.21{\pm}0.01clo$ for the BS, $0.22{\pm}0.01clo$ for TS, $0.12{\pm}0.00clo$ for VT, $0.23{\pm}0.02clo$ for CD, $0.40{\pm}0.02clo$ for JC, $0.49{\pm}0.03clo$ for SO, $0.21{\pm}0.01clo$ for TR, $0.18{\pm}0.01clo$ for SK, $0.34{\pm}0.03clo$ for DS, $0.09{\pm}0.01clo$ for UW, $0.42{\pm}0.03clo$ for SW, and $0.56{\pm}0.03clo$ for PPC (p<.001). The most influential factors among the seven factors for thermal insulation of garments were clothing weight and covering area; however, the explanatory powers of two factors differed according to clothing categories. The covering area had more significant impact on clothing insulation in cardigans, jackets/coats, trousers, and dresses than clothing weight. Covering areas and clothing weight were the most influential factors in the following categories: blouses/shirt, T-shirts/sweaters, skirts, sleepwear and personal protective clothing. The garment weight was the most important factor for thermal insulation for the sport outerwear.

  • Background: Mitral valve replacement(MVR) with chordal preservation in patients with mitral vlavular disease has been proven to be beneficial for left ventricular function and for reduction of postoperative complication. Material and Method: From January 1995 to July 1996, the early postoperative results of mitral valve replacement were compared between 20 patients who underwent chordae resection(classic MVR group) and 10 patients who underwent chordae preservation(preservation MVR group) in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Chunbuk National University Hospital. Result: There was no significant difference between the two groups in age, sex, NYHA functional class, cardiothoracic ratio, echocardiographic finding, cardiopulmonary bypass time and aortic cross clamping time. The difference between preoperative and postoperative cardiothoracic ratio after 3 months was not statistically significant. At echocardiographic left ventricular evaluation, ejection fraction and fractional shortening decreased slightly in the preservation group then preoperative value (p=0.47, p=0.12), however, decreased significantly in the classic MVR group(p=0.03, p=0.04), and were statistically significant between the two groups(p=0.03, p=0.02). Conclusion: We conclude that MVR with chorda preservation seems to have a beneficial effect on postoperative left ventricular performance in mitral valve disease than the classic MVR.
