비만 소아의 혈중 아디포넥틴과 인슐린저항성에 관한 연구 (Serum Adiponectin Levels and Insulin Resistance in Obese Children)

  • 목 적 : 식생활과 생활양식의 서구화로 인하여 우리나라도 비만의 유병률이 급격히 증가하는 추세이며 특히 소아비만은 이미 소아기에 합병증 발생의 위험과 더불어 성인비만으로 이행될 가능성이 크기에 이에 대한 관심이 날로 높아지고 있는 추세이다. 아디포넥틴은 최근 발견된 지방세포에서 분비되는 adipocytokine으로 비만에서 아디포넥틴의 감소가 인슐린저항성과 동맥경화증의 발병과 관련이 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 비만아와 정상 체중아의 혈중 아디포넥틴 농도의 차이와 체질량지 수(BMI) 및 인슐린저항성과의 상관관계를 알아보고자 하였다. 방 법 : 2003년 1월부터 2003년 6월까지 BMI가 95 백분위 이상인 8-15세 사이의 비만아 82명(남아 54명, 여아 28명)과 대조군으로 정상 체중아 31명(남아 21, 여아10), 총 113명을 대상으로 신체계측을 하고 공복 후 채혈하여 혈중 아디포넥틴, 인슐린, 혈당 농도를 측정하였다. 혈중 아디포넥틴 농도를 비만여부와 사춘기 시기별로 비교하였으며 아디포넥틴과 체질량지수, 인슐린, HOMA 등과의 상관관계를 알아보았다. 결 과 : 1) 비만아의 평균 혈중 아디포넥틴 농도는 19.7 mg/mL, 정상 체중아는 27.6 mg/mL로 비만군이 유의하게 낮았으며(P<0.01), 전체 대상아 중 남아와 여아의 성별에 따른 차이는 없었다. 2) 사춘기 전보다 사춘기 시기의 소아에서 아디포넥틴의 농도가 의미있게 낮았다(P<0.01). 3) 비만아 중 27명을 대상으로 시행한 경구 당부하 검사에서 공복시에 비해 식후 2시간 후 인슐린 농도는 유의하게 높았으며($17.0{\mu}IU/mL$ vs $35.8{\mu}IU/mL$, P<0.01), 아디포넥틴 농도는 반대로 유의하게 낮았다(25.8 mg/mL vs 19.8 mg/mL, P<0.01). 4) 혈중 아디포넥틴과 BMI(r=-0.39, P<0.01), 인슐린(r=-0.28, P<0.01)은 각각 음의 상관관계를 보였으며, 혈중 지질치중 저밀도 지질단백(LDL) 콜레스테롤(r=-0.20, P<0.05)과도 음의 상관관계를 보였으나 총 콜레스테롤과 고밀도 지질단백(HDL) 콜레스테롤과, 중성지방과는 유의한 상관관계가 없었다. 결 론 : 혈중 아디포넥틴 농도는 비만아에서 정상 체중아보다 유의하게 낮았으며, 아디포넥틴은 BMI 및 혈중 인슐린과 음의 상관관계가 있었다. 혈중 아디포넥틴이 소아 비만아에서 인슐린 저항성의 예측인자로 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

마산, 창원지역 중학생의 김치에 대한 지식 및 인식조사 (A study on Middle School Students' Perception and Knowledge for Kimchi in Masan and Changwon City)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge and perception for Kimchi in middle school students. A questionnaire was used as the instrument of investigation. The subjects were 375 male students and 278 female students in Masan and Changwon City. The main results of this study are as follows. Ninety-three point three percent of the subjects were nuclear family type and 61.7% of respondent's mother had job. The average knowledge score for Kimchi of the subjects was 5.27 out of possible 10 points and the average value score on Kimchi was 41.25 out of 50 points. Eighty-six point one percent of students think they should eat Kimchi because Kimchi is good for the health(38.6%) and Kimchi is our traditional food(31.4%), and it was significantly difference between gender(p<0.01), male students more realized 'Kimchi is good for the health(41.6%)', whereas female students more realized 'Kimchi is our traditional food(38.9%)'. The subjects perceived that the additive material making for Kimchi were powdered red pepper(80.2%), garlic(62.5%), salt(62.0%), salted, fermented shrimp(50.2%). ginger(49.5%), green onion(39.8%), salted, fermented anchovy(34.9%), sesame(25.0%), carrot(22.4%). More than 70% of the subjects estimated for Kimchi 'Kimchi is our traditional food(84.1%)', 'Kimchi must be developed the international food'(73.7%), 'Kimchi must be in succession(75.8%)', 'Kimchi is very nutritious food(70.3%)'. However, they thought Kimchi have to be improved more hygienically(38.8%) and less stimulative taste(25.7%). The knowledge for Kimchi showed a positive correlation with the value on Kimchi and the preferences for Kimchi, and the value on Kimchi was a positively related to the preferences for Kimchi(p<0.01). Therefore it is need to the development of program for the knowledge for Kimchi and the value on Kimchi in order to improvement the preferences for Kimchi.

조직배양(組織培養)에 의한 테다, 리기다 및 교잡종(交雜種) 소나무의 식물체(植物體) 번식(繁殖) -배조직(胚組織)의 배양(培養)- (In vitro Plantlet Regeneration of Loblolly Pine, Pitch Pine, and Their Hybrid -The Culture of Embryonic Tissues-)

  • 시험관내 배양에 의한 테다, 리기다 및 그 교잡종 소나무의 배(胚)로부터 부정지(不定枝) 생산(生産)을 시도하였다. 배지1은 Gresshoff와 Doy, 배지2는 Murashige와 Skong, 배지3은 Lloyd와 McCown, 배지4는 Schenk와 Hildbrandt 식으로부터 가각 수정 변화하였다. 부정아(不定芽) 유도 외의 배지는 무기성분(단, 철 제외)을 반으로 감소시켰다. NAA(0.1 또는 0.01 mg/l)와 BAP(0.1, 0.5, 1, 2, 또는 5 mg/l)가 10개 조합으로 첨가된 배지에서 배양체는 3-4주간 유도되었다. 광도는 $1500{\pm}540$ 룩스이었고, 광주기(光週期)는 16시간이었다. $25{\pm}2^{\circ}C$의 배양실에서 16주(부정아 유도 기간 포함) 배양후 부정지 생산 배(胚)의 비율과 배당(胚當) 평균 부정지의 수를 조사하여 분석하였다. 테다 소나무의 부정지 생산을 위해서는 5 mg/l BAP와 0.1 또는 0.01 또는 0.01 mg/l의 NAA를 첨가한 배지2, 배지3 또는 배지4가 바람직하며, 리기다 소나무의 경우는 2 또는 5 mg/l BAP와 0.1mg/l NAA의 배지2, 배지3 또는 배지4가 좋은 것으로 나타났다. 교잡종의 경우는 배지2와 배지3이 1, 2, 또는 5 mg/l BAP와 0.1 mg/l NAA를 첨가했을 때 효과적이었다. 부정아(不定芽) 형성 및 부정지(不定枝) 발달 양식에 있어 수종간 차이는 관찰되지 않았다. 부정아 유도와 유도된 부정아의 성장을 위한 기본배지는 각기 다른 것을 사용하는 것이 바람직하다.

EFFECT OF DIRECT-FED MICROORGANISMS ON BROILER GROWTH PERFORMANCE AND LITTER AMMONIA LEVEL

  • Broilers were fed diets supplemented with various levels of a probiotic (mixture of the following direct-fed microorganisms: Lactobacillus, Bacillus, and Streptococcus). Growth performance, abdominal fat, excreta, and litter ammonia level were determined. The results showed that birds fed the probiotic-supplemented diets had better weight gain (p < 0.01) and feed conversion (gain:feed;p < 0.12) when compared to the birds fed the unsupplemented diet. No differences in feed intake and abdominal fat were observed among birds fed the different experimental diets. Excreta (p < 0.05) and litter (p < 0.01) ammonia levels were reduced by dietary probiotic supplementation. A dosage of 0.25 g of the probiotic/kg of diet is needed to maiximize growth performance during both the starter and finisher periods. A higher dosage (approximate 0.5 g/kg) is needed to minimize litter ammonia production.

치과의료기관의 치위생과정(ADPIE) 경영성과 분석 (Analysis of Business Performance in Dental Hygiene Process (ADPIE) in Dental Clinic)

  • 본 연구는 2013년도 1월부터 2014년도 12월까지 경기도에 위치한 치과의료기관을 대상으로 치위생과정을 실시하고 있는 진료과와 실시하지 않는 진료과의 재무 및 비재무성과를 비교 분석하였다. 2013년도와 2014년도를 비교하면 환자 당 진료비는 치위생과정을 적용한 A과의 경우 216,664원, 324,810원으로 108,147원이 증가하였고, 적용하지 않은 B과는 184,655원, 225,698원으로 41,043원 증가하였다(p<0.01). 1일 내원환자 수는 A과의 경우 68.67명, 76.75명으로 8.08명이 증가하였고(p=0.01), B과는 77.83명, 80.25명으로 2.42명이 증가하였다(p>0.05). 진료동의 율은 A과에서 89.17%, 89.68%였고, B과는 60.09%, 66.98%였다(p<0.001). 재내원율은 A과에서 87.48%, 85.89%였고, B과는 44.92%, 45.55%였다(p<0.001). 정기검진환자율은 A과에서 16.01%, 19.03%였고, B과는 2.53%, 6.84%였다(p<0.001). 소개환자율은 A과에서 38.46%, 47.59%였고, B과는 29.98%, 30.77%였다(p<0.05). 대기시간은 A과에서 27.67분, 28.25분이었고, B과는 25.54분, 25.67분을 나타냈다(p>0.05). 위의 결과를 통해 치위생과정을 병행하는 진료체계는 치과의료의 질에 대한 만족도와 경영적 효용성을 높일 수 있는 수준 높은 의료 프로그램임을 확인하였다. 따라서 치과의료기관에서 환자중심의 긍정적 신뢰를 형성하고, 인적 서비스 중심의 경영전략을 수립하는 데 활용할 수 있기를 기대한다.

강원지역 고등학교 기숙사생의 성별 및 스트레스 수준에 따른 식습관 분석 (Analysis of Dietary Habits of Boarding High School Students in Gangwon According to Gender and Stress Levels)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the dietary habits of boarding high school students in Gangwon based on gender and stress levels. Questionnaires were distributed to 571 boarding high school students and collected from 491 students from June 28 to July 20, 2011. The statistical data analyses were completed using SPSS (ver. 19.0) for the descriptive analysis, independent sample t-test and $X^2$-test. The mean stress score was 23.7 out of 40, and male's stress was significantly higher than female's (p<0.05). The rates of having daily breakfast and dinner were significantly influenced by gender (p<0.01), and the regularity of lunch was significantly different depending on the stress level (p<0.05). Female students consumed less flour based foods (p<0.01), carbonated drinks (p<0.01), juices (p<0.05) and functional drinks (p<0.01) than male students, but male students consumed less cookies and breads (p<0.01). Dietary habits that boarding high school students should improve were an unbalanced diet (38%), too much intake at once (17%) and prejudice against foods (11%), and their primary value in dietary life was preference (33%), followed by staving off hunger (18%) and pleasure (18%). The average level of interest in dietary life was 2.46 (on a Likert-type 3-point scale) and it was significantly higher for female students (2.53) than male (2.40) (p<0.05). About 54% of students washed their hands before a meal when they thought of it, but only 25% of students always scrubbed up. The regularity of breakfast and dinner, frequency of snack intake, dietary habits that need to improve, intrest in dietary life, and washing hands before meals showed significant difference by gender but not by stress levels.

노인종합복지관 급식업무 종사자들의 위생지식 및 수행 평가 (Evaluation of Foodservice Workers' Food Safety Knowledge and Practices at Senior Welfare Centers)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate food safety practices and knowledge of foodservice workers at senior welfare centers. A self-administrated questionnaire was administered to 1200 foodservice workers at senior welfare centers in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi province. Two hundred five responses were returned, with 181 usable for analysis. Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS for Windows(ver.14.0). Volunteers of respondents comprised 64.1% while chefs and employees comprised 20.9%. Food safety practices were assessed using a 5-point scale(1: strongly disagree - 5: strongly agree), and the average score of food safety practices was 4.27. For specific practices, 'personal hygiene (4.46)' scored the highest, followed by 'cleaning and sanitizing(4.43)', 'separate handing(4.40)', 'cooking process(4.11)', and 'receiving and storing(4.05)'. There were significant differences in the practice average score by age(p<0.01) and experience of food safety education(p<0.01). The total score for food safety knowledge was 14.43 out of 20 points. In the category of food knowledge, 'equipment and facility(80.5%)' had the highest correct answer rate, followed by 'personnel hygiene(75.9%)', 'cooking process(70.4%)', and 'cleaning sanitizing(65.8%)'. There were significant differences in the knowledge total score by job type(p<0.05), age(p<0.05), working experience(p<0.05), chef certification (p<0.01), and frequency of food safety education(p<0.01). The knowledge and practice scores were significantly correlated(p<0.01). This study suggests that food safety education for foodservice workers should be conducted continuously and repetitively, and the development of proper education materials is needed to improve the effectiveness of food safety education for chefs, employees and volunteers at senior welfare centers.

Degradation Properties of a Bi-layered Cross-linked Collagen Membrane for Localized Bone Regeneration: In Vitro and In Vivo Study

  • Purpose: (i) To evaluate the biologic properties of a bi-layered 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide hydrochloride-cross-linked collagen membrane (CCM) in vitro. (ii) To assess the efficacy of CCM for localized bone regeneration in vivo. Materials and Methods: Biodegradation of CCM compared to a native collagen membrane (NCM) was assessed in vitro. In vivo, twelve male New Zealand White rabbits were used. Four calvarial, circular defects (diameter 8 mm) were created in each animal. The sites were randomly allocated to i) CCM+biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) (CCM-BCP group), ii) CCM alone (CCM), iii) BCP alone (BCP) and, iv) negative control (control). Animals were sacrificed at 2 (n=6) and 8 weeks (n=6). Outcome measures included: micro-computed tomography (μCT) analysis (total augmented volume [TAV], new bone volume) and histomorphometry (total augmented area [TAA], newly formed bone, remaining membrane thickness [RMT]). Result: CCM was more resistant to degradation than NCM. μCT analysis showed CCM-BCP (196.43±25.30 mm3) and BCP (206.23±39.13 mm3) groups had significantly (P<0.01) larger TAV than the control (149.72±12.28 mm3) after 8 weeks. Histomorphometrically, CCM-BCP group (17.75±5.97 mm2) had significantly (P<0.01) greater TAA compared to the CCM group (7.74±2.25 mm2) and the control (8.13±1.81 mm2) after 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, RMT was reduced by 67%. Conclusion: CCM can be a favorable choice of barrier membrane when performing guided bone regeneration (GBR) in localized bone defects. CCM has better resistance to degradation than the natural collagen membrane, in vitro. In vivo, CCM provides an advantageous integration of prolonged barrier function and biocompatibility for GBR.

Surgical treatment of feline intracranial meningiomas: a retrospective study of 26 cases

  • Background: Surgical excision is the treatment of choice for feline intracranial meningioma. Objectives: To report clinical findings, complications, and outcomes following surgery for feline intracranial meningioma. Methods: Medical records (01/2000-01/2017) of cats that underwent surgical excision of an intracranial meningioma at our institution were reviewed. Patient data included signalment, clinical signs, surgical technique, complications, histopathologic diagnosis, survival time, and owners' answers to a satisfaction questionnaire. Survival was assessed using the Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test. Results: Twenty-six cats were included in this study. The exact cause of death was known in 17 cases and was not related to meningioma in 9/17 cases. Overall median survival time was 881 days (95% confidence interval 518; 1248). The age of the cat did not influence survival (p = 0.94) or the occurrence of complications (p = 0.051). Complications occurred in 13/24 cats, including dramatic complications in 4/24 cats. Most complications appeared in the first 24 hours post-surgery (12/13). Males had more postoperative complications (p = 0.042), including more seizures (p = 0.016). Cats with cranioplasty had fewer complications (p = 0.021). Clinical recurrence was confirmed in 3 out of 17 cats. Recurrence-free survival time was 826 days. Most owners (12/14) were satisfied with the outcome. Conclusions: Surgical treatment of intracranial meningioma in cats was associated with a long median survival time but also with a high rate of minor and major postoperative complications, including early postoperative seizures. Cranioplasty may reduce complications. Age at the time of surgery had no effect on outcomes.

마늘 Oleoresin의 제조 및 저장안정성에 관한 연구 (Preparation and Keeping Quality of Garlic Oleoresin)

  • 마늘의 이용성 증진에 관한 기초자료를 얻고자 마늘로부터 oleoresin을 제조하고, 아울러 저장안정성 시험을 실시하였다. 물, 인산, 마늘 extract 및 poly sorbate를 혼합하고 antifoam agent인 KM-72을 가하여 거품의 생성을 방지한다. 여기에 lecithin을 첨가한 후 온도를 $50{\sim}55^{\circ}C$에서 7분간 유지한 다음, 다시 온도를 $25^{\circ}C$ 이하로 냉각하고, 최종적으로 TBHQ 및 마늘 정유물을 혼합하여 마늘 oleoresin을 제조하였다. 마늘 oleoresin 제조를 위한 적정 조성은 정유물 1.0%, extract 10.5%, poly sorbate 10.0%, KM-72 0.01%, lecithin 18.0%, TBHQ 0.05%, 인산용액 0.15% 및 물 60.0% 였다. 저장 60일 동안 thiosulfinate과 pyruvate 함량 및 관능검사를 기준으로 마늘 oleoresin의 품질을 판정할 때 $55^{\circ}C$ 저장 처리구의 품질저하는 거의 일어나지 않았으나 $25^{\circ}C$ 저장의 경우는 크게 일어났다.
