The Characteristic Dissolution of Valuable Metals from Mine-Waste Rock by Heap Bioleaching, and the Recovery of Metallic Copper Powder with Fe Removal and Electrowinning (더미 미생물용출에 의한 폐-광석으로부터 유용금속 용해 특성과 Fe 제거와 전기분해를 이용한 금속구리분말 회수)

  • In order to recover the metallic copper powder from the mine-waste rock, heap bioleaching, Fe removal and electrowinning experiments were carried out. The results of heap leaching with the mine-waste rock sample containing 0.034% Cu showed that, the leaching rate of Cu were 61% and 62% in the bacteria leaching and sulfuric acid leaching solution, respectively. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) and calcium hydroxide ($Ca(OH)_2$) were applied to effectively remov Fe from the heap leaching solution, and then $H_2O_2$ was selected for the most effective removing Fe agent. In order to prepare the electrolytic solution, $H_2O_2$ were again treated in the heap leaching, and Fe removal rates were 99% and 60%, whereas Cu removal rates were 5% and 7% in the bacteria and sulfuric acid leaching solutions, respectively. After electrowinning was examined in these leaching solution, the recovery rates of Cu were obtained 98% in bacteria and obtained 76% in the sulfuric leaching solution. The dendritic form of metallic copper powder was recovered in both leaching solutions.

The Influences of LiBr Solution Recirculation in Absorber on the Absorption Chiller Performance (흡수기 용액 재순환이 흡수식 냉동기 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • If a part of the poor solution from the absorber outlet is recirculated to the absorber inlet, the solution temperature at the solution spray pump can be reduced, and the solution flow rate in the absorber is increased. We have performed the experiments on the influences of the absorption chiller performance according to the ratio of the recirculation, defined as the ratio of the recirculation flow rate to the total solution flow rate at the absorber outlet. As increasing the ratio of the recirculation, the absorption capacity of the solution can be deteriorated. On the other hand, due to the increasing flow rate, the heat transfer rate can be enhanced. As a result, the performance of the absorber and the cooling capacity of the absorption chiller have nothing to do with the recirculation ratio, and the lifetime of the spray pump will be maintained.

  • In order to effectively leach Fe from pyrite, the application of microwave energy and ammonia solution has been conducted. Pyrite transforms into hematite and pyrrhotite when treated with microwave radiation for 60 minutes, and in this time the highest amount of Fe was leached by the ammonia solution. Up to 99% of the Fe was leached when the experimental conditions were: 325-400 mesh particle size for the pyrite and 60 min. was the microwave exposure time. The ammonia leaching conditions were 0.3 M sulfuric acid, 2.0 M ammonium sulfate and 0.1 M hydrogen peroxide concentration. The pyrite, hematite, and pyrrhotite were not detected using XRD analysis from the solid-residues treated by the ammonia solution except for quartz.

Studies on Physicochemical Properties of Erythritol, Substitude Sugar (대체감미료 에리스리톨의 이화학적인 성질에 관한 연구)

  • The physicochemical properties of erythritol were examined by measuring water absorption, solubility, water activity, heat stability, and viscosity compared to those of sucrose, xylitol, sorbitol and fructo-oligosaccharide. Erythritol showed the lowest water absorption and the highest water activity reducing capacity. In the solubility test of sweeteners, the saturation concentration of erythritol at $20^{\circ}C$ was 35.8%, which was the lowest solubility. Caramelization test and Maillard reaction test showed that erythritol was stabler than sucrose in heat treatment, while fructo-oligosaccharide showed the strongest reaction. The viscosity of erythritol was similar to that of other sweeteners at the same concentration (10%, 30% w/w). The viscosity of sweeteners increased exponentially with increasing concentration but decreased with increasing temperature following Arrhenius equation. The activation energy for flow of 30% erythritol solution was estimated to be 10.8 kcal/g mol.

  • The effectiveness of CuSCN as a hole injection layer in large-area organic light-emitting diodes, organic solar cells, and thin-film transistors has been well demonstrated. Therefore, in this study, the surface, optical, and electrical analyses of CuSCN were carried out according to the solution process conditions in order to propose optimized film conditions. Various CuSCN solution concentrations were prepared to determine the film surface characteristics and to determine whether the film surface affects the electrical performance of the device. When the CuSCN solution concentration was low, the CuSCN film was not formed and coated in the form of islands, and when the solution concentration was increased, the CuSCN film was formed uniformly, which contributed to improving the conductivity of the device. In addition, a hole-only device was fabricated to demonstrate the role of CuSCN as a hole transport layer.

  • The present work is concerned with the studies on the production of PZT ceramics by newly developed mixing process, which tentatively named "precipitation mixing method", consists of precipitating lead carbontate in the presence of $TiO_2$ and/or $ZrO_2$. Mixtures of $PbCO_3$ and $TiO_2$ or $ZrO_2$ were compared with those obtained by ball-milling with special emphasis on the rate and mechanism of formation of lead titanate and lead zirconate. A possiblity for obtaining PZT ceramics by "precipitation mixing method" was established.

  • The relationship between the orientation of molecules adsorbed on $_TiO2$ and their photoproducts was examined by employing HBPCA (4-hydroxy-biphenylcarboxylic acid) as a model organic pollutant. For this purpose, the Photoproducts after irradiation with UV radiation at various pH were compared by utilizing UV and Raman spectroscopies. It was found from these studies that pH affected the photoproducts probably due to the different orientations of the adsorbed molecules, and that the orientation of the adsorbed molecules and their photoproducts were closely correlated.

  • Chemical Mechanical Polishing(CMP) is popularly used in production of semiconductor because of large area polishing ability probability of improvement for more integrated circuit. However, present CMP processing causes some non-uniformity errors which can be critical for highly integrated circuit. Previous studies predict that flow-field of slurry during CMP can create non-uniformity, but no quantitative measurement has conducted. In this study, using PIV, slurry velocity flow-field during CMP is measured by changing the ratio of RPM of pad and carrier with tuned PIV system adequate for small room in CMP machine and Cabot's non-groove pad Epad-A100. The result show that velocity of slurry is majorly determined by pad-rpm and the ratio of between carrier and pad rpm make some changes in streamlines.

  • 광전기화학전지의 전극으로 TiO2 반도체 전극을 선택하여, sol 용액을 dip-coating 방법으로 티타늄 금속위에 입혀 만든 TiO2 필름의 광전기화학특성을 연구하였다. Dipping 횟수와 TiO2 필름의 두께간에는 선형적인 비례관계가 나타났으며, 15회 코팅하여 얻은 5.5$\mu\textrm{m}$에서 가장 큰 광전류값을 얻을 수 있었다. 전극의 최종열처리를 50$0^{\circ}C$에서 20분간 행하였을 때 광전류값이 가장 컸고, 열처리시간을 증가시키고, 열처리 온도가 50$0^{\circ}C$ 이상이 되면 광전류는 감소하였다. 유기첨가제로 HPC를 사용한 경우 sol 용액의 점도 및 제조된 전극의 광전류값이 가장 크게 나타났다.

용출액의 pH 변화가 토양내 중금속 용출에 미치는 영향과 그에 따른 국내 토양오염 공정시험방법의 문제점

  • 국내의 토양오염 공정시험방법에서는 Zn, Ni 추출시 산분해법에 가까운 방법을 사용하는 반면, Cd, Cu, Pb, $Cr^{6+}$ 추출시 0.1N HCl용액으로 산처리하여 1시간을 진탕한 후 이를 필터로 여과하여 분석용액을 추출하는 용출법을 사용하고 있다(환경부, 2001). 시료내에는 완충 물질이 존재하기 때문에 용출법 사용시 초기 pH 인 1(0.1N HCl)이 유지되지 않아 완충능력이 높은 토양의 경우 현재 국내 공정법상의 용출법이 중금속 오염정도를 추정하는데 적절치 않을 수 있다. (중략)
