해양 퇴적물 내 납의 흡/탈착 거동

  • 일반적으로 유기오염 물질의 경우 sequestration 또는 aging 현상에 의해 탈착저항성을 띠게 되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 중금속의 경우 흡/탈착반응은 탈착저항성이 없는 가역적 반응이라는 보고가 있는 반면 홉/탈착 반응은 비가역적이며 탈착저항성이 존재한다는 보고도 있다. 본 연구에서는 해양 연안 퇴적물에 대한 납의 흡/탈착 실험을 통하여 탈착 저항성을 화인하고 연속추출 실험을 수행함으로써 탈착 저항성 부분의 크기를 규명하고자 하였다. 그리고 각기 다른 pH(4, 6)에서 흡착 실험을 수행함으로써 pH에 따른 흡착친화도를 규명하였다. 그 결과 퇴적물에 대한 납의 흡착량은 높은 pH(6)에서 더 많았고, 각 pH 범위에서 납은 탈착저항성을 가지는 것으로 나타났으며, 연속추출결과 Organic Material bound부분에 66% 정도가 흡착되어 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • 일반적으로 흡착분리공정 기술개발은 대략 3단계의 과정을 거치게 되는데 흡착제의 선정, 흡착탑의 거동해석, 연속공정 구성 및 운전으로 이루어진다. 이중 흡착제의 선정은 대상 혼합물에 어떤 흡착제를 사용하여 효율적인 분리 결과를 얻을 수 있는가를 결정하는 기초단계이면서도 가장 중요한 과정이다. 이를 위해 여러 흡착제에 대한 흡착평형량과 이로부터 얻어지는 선택도, 흡착열, 그리고 흡착질과 흡착제 사이의 물질전달저항과 흡착제의 기공 분포도, 기공부피, 기공율, 비표면적, 충전 밀도(Bulk Density), 파쇄 강도 및 마모저항 등과 같은 물리적 특성을 종합적으로 비교 검토하여 흡착제를 선택하여야 한다. Effect of Membrane Materials on Membrane Fouling and Membrane Washing (막의 재질에 따른 막오염 특성 및 물리·화학적 세척의 영향)

  • The objectives of this research were to (1) identify the membrane fouling potential due to different fractions of NOM (2) correlate the physicochemical properties of NOM and membranes with the adsorption of humic substances on membrane (4) find out the effect of membrane physical and chemical washing according to membrane material. The static adsorption test and adsorption test showed that hydrophobic organics adsorbed much more quickly than hydrophilic organics. In case of the effect of membrane properties on the adsorption of organic fractions, the adsorption rate ratio(a) of hydrophobic membrane (0.016, 0.077) was greater than that of hydrophilic membrane (0.010, 0.033) regardless of the kind of organic fractions. This suggests that the UF membrane fouling were occurred mainly by internal pore size decreasing due to adsorption of organic into pore surface for hydrophobic membrane, and by sieving of organics and forming a gel layer on the membrane surface for hydrophilic membrane. In conclusion, the decrease in the pore volume, which was caused by the organic adsorption into the internal pore, was greater with the hydrophobic membrane than with the hydrophilic membrane. In case of the effect of membrane properties on permeate flux, the rate of flux decline for the hydrophobic membrane was significantly greater than that for the hydrophilic membrane.

Analysis of Hydrophobic Membrane Fouling on the COD Loading Rates at the State of Passive Adsorption in Membrane Bioreactor (생물학적 막분리 공정에서 수동흡착 상태에서의 유기물 유입 부하에 따른 소수성 막의 오염도 분석)

  • This paper investigated the membrane fouling potential at the state of passive adsorption which is no permeation with the test modules on COD (Chemical oxygen demand) loading rates, examined the recovery rate and resistance on membrane fouling by three cleaning manners of hydrophobic membrane in a bioreactor. The results showed that high COD loading led to the increase of extra-cellular polymeric substances and filtration resistance. The permeability resistance from 1st day to 63rd day was getting increased, however, the value of permeability resistance after 63th day during the operation period was almost same level at three COD loading rates, it was due that the biomass adhesion on membrane surface at the state of passive adsorption reached to the critical state. Also, the final recovery rates after three cleaning manners were 78%, 72% and 69% at the COD loading concentrations of 250 mg/L, 500 mg/L and 750 mg/L respectively, and then recovery rate by physical cleaning at Run 2 and Run 3 was decreased after 40th day, it proved that biomass cake, which is not easily removed, was formed on the membrane surface because of high COD loading rate and EPS concentration.

Analysis of Sorption and Desorption Behaviors of Radionuclides (Cobalt and Strontium) in Natural Soil (자연 토양에서의 방사성 핵종(Co, Sr)의 흡/탈착 거동 특성 평가)

  • This study was conducted to investigate sorption and desorption behaviors of radionuclides (Cobalt and Strontium) in natural soil. Sorption kinetics and isotherms were analyzed to predict sorption behaviors of radionuclides in natural soil and the experimental data were fitted to several sorption models. Desorption experiments were also performed with or without CMCD at constant pH and ion strength conditions. The results showed that $Sr^{2+}$ was more strongly sorbed than $Co^{2+}$ in natural soil. Both $Co^{2+}$ and $Sr^{2+}$ followed a pseudo-second order kinetics and Sips model. The desorption-resistance of $Co^{2+}$ and $Sr^{2+}$ was estimated using a natural surfactant Carboxymethyl-${\beta}$-cyclodextrin(CMCD) or non-desorbing fraction. Desorption of radionuclides was partially irreversible and $Sr^{2+}$ was more resistant than $Co^{2+}$ Addition of CMCD facilitated desorption of $Co^{2+}$ and $Sr^{2+}$ from soil.

Removal of Cd(II) by Cation Exchange Resin in Differential Bed Reactor (미분층반응기에서 양이온 교환수지에 의한 카드뮴(II)의 제거)

  • In this study, in order to remove Cd(II) from aqueous solutions, strongly acidic cation exchange resin(SK1B) by Diaion Co. was employed as an adsorbent. Experiments were mainly performed in two parts at room temperature($25{\pm}5^{\circ}C$) : batch tests and adsorption kinetics tests. In batch tests adsorption equilibrium time, pH effects, temperature effects, several adsorption isotherms, and finally desorption tests were examined. In differential bed tests, an optimum flow rate and an overall adsorption rate were obtained. In the batch experiment, adsorption capability increased with pH and became constant above pH 6 and adsorption quantity increased with temperature. Batch experimental data found that Freundlich and Sips adsorption isotherms were more favorable than Langmuir adsorption isotherm over the range of concentration (5~15ppm). The desorbent used in the desorption test was hydrochloric acid solution with different concentrations(0.01~2N). The degree of regeneration increased with concentration of desorbent and decreased slightly with the number of regeneration. In the continuous flow process using a differential bed reactor, the optimum flow rate was $564m{\ell}/min$ above which the film diffusion resistance was minimized. The overall adsorption rate for the removal of Cd(II) by cation exchange resin was found as follows ; $r=1.3785C_{fc}^{1.2421}-2.0907{\times}10^{0.0746C_i}\;q_e^{0.0121C_i-0.0301}$

  • A resistive-type humidity sensors have been fabricated using cross-linked PMMA thin film as sensing material and their humidity characteristics have been investigated. The sensor coated of the cross-linked PMMA with PVA exhibited largely variation of resistance by increase of relative humidity and less than 3% of hysteresis. Furthermore, the fabricated sensor exhibited superior long-term stability. The response time of the PMMA humidity sensor was about 7 min. for adsorption and about 5 min. for desorption respectively.

  • 염료 감응형 태양전지는 일반적으로 투명 전극 기판, 염료가 흡착된 $TiO_2$, 전해질, Pt가 코팅된 투명 전극 기판으로 구성된다. 이 중 투명 전극 기판은 전체 재료비 중 60% 이상을 차지하여 이를 대체하는 새로운 구조에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 투명 전극 기판을 사용하지 않는 염료 감응형 태양전지를 연구하였다. $TiO_2$ 위에 e-beam 증착을 이용하여 다공성의 Ti 전극을 형성하였다. Ti 전극의 다공성은 SEM 분석 및 염료 흡착을 통해 확인하였다. Ti 전극의 두께가 증가함에 따라 표면저항은 감소하였으며, 태양전지의 효율은 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 Ti 전극의 표면저항이 투명 전극 기판의 표면저항과 동등 수준일 경우 효율 또한 동등 수준을 나타내었다.

An Estimation of Breakthrough Curve of Activated Carbon Adsorption Column (활성탄 흡착칼럼의 농도변화곡선 추정)

  • Adsorption equilibrium experiments for the phenol on granular activated carbon(16~25 mesh) and powder activated carbon(325 mesh) were carried out at $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ and the results were expressed with Freundlich isotherm. Adsorption rate experiments were executed in batch adsorption system under the condition that can be neglecting mass transfer resistance at the external surface of the particle. The results were analysed with the Miller's method to evaluate the linear driving force(LDF) adsorption rate constant. Fixed bed adsorption experiments were performed by adopting different flow rates in the activated carbon-phenol system at $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The theoretical breakthrough curves were estimated with the simple constant pattern solution. The adsorption rate constant of LDF model was not a fixed value but variable with adsorption amount. The experimental results were better agreed with the estimation of breakthrough curve using the variable adsorption rate constant than the results estimated using the average fixed adsorption rate constant.

항균성 활성화 탄소의 제조 및 특성

  • 활성탄의 특성을 이용하여 상업적으로 문제시되고 있는 수질 및 공기 정화용 항균성 Ag-활성탄을 제조하여 흡착특성, 표면구조 및 박테리아 저항성에 대하여 조사하였다. 높은 비표면적을 가진 활성탄에 대하여 AgNO$_3$를 사용하여 Ag-활성탄을 제조하였다. 0.1에서 1.0까지의 AgNO$_3$ 몰농도에 침적된 Ag-활성탄의 비표면적 값은 874-1475 $m^2$/g의 범위에 분포하고 있었으며, AgNO$_3$몰농도가 증가함에 따라 비표면적이 작아지는 경향을 나타내어 흡착된 Ag가 원료 활성탄의 표면구조에 영향을 주었다. Ag는 활성탄 표면의 기공 주위에 고르게 분포되었으며 활성탄의 표면에 물리적 흡착에 의해 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 항균실험을 위하여 박테리아로서 대장균의 일종인 Escherichia coli를 사용하였으며, 흡착된 Ag의 양이 증가됨에 따라 활성의 범위가 증가되었고, Ag가 흡착되지 않은 활성탄의 경우에 있어서는 활성을 전혀 나타내지 않았다.
