Coastal Shallow-Water Bathymetry Survey through a Drone and Optical Remote Sensors (드론과 광학원격탐사 기법을 이용한 천해 수심측량)

  • Shallow-water bathymetry survey has been conducted using high definition color images obtained at the altitude of 100 m above sea level using a drone. Shallow-water bathymetry data are one of the most important input data for the research of beach erosion problems. Especially, accurate bathymetry data within closure depth are critically important, because most of the interesting phenomena occur in the surf zone. However, it is extremely difficult to obtain accurate bathymetry data due to wave-induced currents and breaking waves in this region. Therefore, optical remote sensing technique using a small drone is considered to be attractive alternative. This paper presents the potential utilization of image processing algorithms using multi-variable linear regression applied to red, green, blue and grey band images for estimating shallow water depth using a drone with HD camera. Optical remote sensing analysis conducted at Wolpo beach showed promising results. Estimated water depths within 5 m showed correlation coefficient of 0.99 and maximum error of 0.2 m compared with water depth surveyed through manual as well as ship-board echo-sounder measurements.

  • 하천유량자료는 이수, 치수, 수질관리 등의 목적으로 널리 사용되기 때문에 여러 가지 수문관측 자료 중 가장 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 우리나라의 유량자료는 여러 가지 한계를 가지고 있어서 수문자료로서 제대로 사용되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 특히 홍수기 부자측정 방법에 의해 산정된 유량자료는 측정 여건, 방법, 기기 등의 한계로 인해 그 정확도가 더욱 낮다. 홍수기 부자측정 방법에 의한 유량자료의 정확도 향상을 위해서는 현장 유량측정의 정확도를 향상시키는 것이 일차적으로 필요하지만, 측정된 자료를 과학적이고 체계적인 계산과정을 통하여 유량으로 환산하는 것도 매우 중요하다. 국내의 경우 일반적으로 여름에 집중호우가 빈발하고 경사가 급한 산지하천이 많다. 그래서 홍수시 하천의 유속이 매우 빠르고 하천수내에 부유물이 많이 함유되어 있다. 이러한 요인들로 의해 대부분 홍수시 유속계를 이용한 유량측정이 불가하여 대안으로 부자를 이용하여 측정하고 있다. 그 결과 평저수시 유속계 이용시에 비해 측정 및 산정과정에서 매우 큰 오차가 발생하고 있다. 이와 같이 국내의 경우 홍수시 유량측정을 위해 부자에 전적으로 의존하는 현실임에 불구하고 부자를 이용한 유속측정 및 유량산정에 대한 연구는 매우 미흡하였다. 외국의 경우도 부자 측정에 대한 방법론이 ISO 748과 일본수문관측에 간략하게 설명되어 있고 USGS와 WMO에서는 거의 내용을 다루고 있지 않고 있다. 현재 우리나라의 경우는 ISO 748을 일부 참조하고 대부분 일본수문관측 기준에 준해 측정을 하고 있다. 자연하천임을 감안하면, 부자에 의한 유속 측정시 발생할 수 있는 여러 오차들의 경우 적절한 구간의 선택, 충분한 측선수의 확보 등과 같은 측정기준의 개선을 통하여 상당부분 제거가 가능하다. 그러나 부자를 이용해 측정된 성과를 신뢰도 높은 유량으로 산정하기 위해서는 정확한 측정과 더불어 과학적이고 표준화된 유량산정 기준과 절차가 필요하다. 본 연구에서 분석된 결과에 의하면 부자유선 모임, 홍수터 유속 미측정, 기준 흘수 미적용 등과 같은 측정 자체의 문제점을 제외하면, 부자측정 방법에 의한 유량산정시 가장 큰 오차원인은 홍수시 측정된 유속측선의 위치와 홍수 전후로 측정된 횡단면상의 위치가 일치하지 않는 점과, 대부분 두 측정 구간의 평균값을 대푯값으로 사용한다는 점이다. 본 연구는 다년간의 유량 측정 및 검증 경험과 자료를 토대로 현장에서 부자를 이용하여 측정된 측정성과를 정확도 높은 유량자료로 산정하는데 있어서의 문제점을 도출하고, 이로 인해 발생하는 오차를 추정하여 그 개선방안을 제시해 보고자한다. 더불어 보다 정확한 유량 산정을 위한 기준과 범주를 제시하고자 한다.

Development of a Model Test System and Analysis Method for Assessing Towing Stability of a Caisson in Wet Towing (케이슨의 예인 안정성 평가를 위한 모형 시험 시스템과 해석 기법의 개발)

  • The present study aims to design and utilize a model test system of a Caisson in wet towing condition, to assess towing stability of a 9,300 ton class caisson. The suggested towing system was designed to provide regular tension on the towline, whereas the previous model test system towed the model in constant speed. The new model test system was expected to reproduce the towing condition more realistically than the test system with constant speed condition, as the tugboat in actual towing condition tows the towline with constant power. Model tests were conducted in a towing tank with 1/30 scaled model. In the model tests, six-degrees-of-freedom motion of the caisson model and tension on the towline were measured and analyzed. By using the new system, fluctuation of the motion of model and tension on the towline decreased. The variation in the draft and initial trim was applied in the model tests. In the initial trim condition, the motion and towing force decreased.

A Study on the Resistance Characteristics of Leisure Boat According to Chine Shape (차인 형상에 따른 레저선박의 저항특성에 관한 연구)

  • The chine of high speed vessels does not only play a role in changing position when planing but also helps balancing the hull. It also has a great influence on resistance performance. However, designing a chine requires a lot of experience because it is influenced by various factors such as displacement, transom shape, draft and width. Such a design is not based on an empirical formula, but the purpose of this study is to provide basic guidelines regarding the shape of chine through calculation. This design was developed using Yacht-one, a commercial design program, and analysis was performed using Star-CCM+, also a commercial analysis program. Analysis of the hull selected in this study was carried out by Dynamic Fluid Body Interaction (DFBI) method. Analysis of the chine was carried out at chine angles of 15, 16, 17, and 19degrees, at a speed of 30knots. The result indicated that the highest trim occurred at 16 degrees among the four chine angles considered, and the highest heave occurred at 15degree. In terms of resistance performance, minimum resistance was observed at 16 degrees. Consequently, for minimum ship resistance, it is necessary to complete calculations in accordance with the chine angles, ${\pm}2$ degrees from the initial chine angle, which should be carried out a the design stage.

Analysis of Motion Response and Drift Force in Waves for the Floating-Type Ocean Monitoring Facilities (부유식 해상관측시설의 파랑중 운동 및 표류력 해석)

  • A three-dimensional numerical method based on the Green's integral equation is developed to predict the motion response and drift force in waves for the ocean monitoring facilities. In this method, we use source and doublet distribution, and triangular and rectangular eliments. To eliminate the irregular frequency phenomenon, the method of improved integral equation is applied and the time-mean drift force is calculated by the method of direct pressure integration over the body surface. To conform the validity of the present numerical method, some calculations for the floating sphere are performed and it is shown that the present method provides sufficiently reliable results. As a calculation example for the real facilities, the motion response and the drift force of the vertical cylinder type ocean monitoring buoy with 2.6 m diameter and 3,77 m draft are calculated and discussed. The obtained results of motion response can be used to determine the shape and dimension of the buoy to reduce the motion response, and other data such as the effect of motion reduction due to a damper can be predictable through these motion calculations. Also, the calculation results of drift force can be used in the design procedure of mooring system to predict the maximum wave load acting on the mooring system. The present method has, in principle, no restriction in the application to the arbitrary shape facilities. So, this method can be a robust tool for the design, installation, and operation of various kinds of the floating-type ocean monitoring facilities.

  • The characteristics of the manoeuvring motion of a ship are dependent on the ship type, as well as draft or speed in the same ship. In recent years, the number of extra-large vessels has increased significantly, which can cause enormous material and environmental damage in the event of a marine accident. Thus, the importance of ship maneuvering is increasing. The IMO has forced the officers to be trained in simulators through the STCW 95 amendment. However, FMSS is costly and difficult to access and the PC-based simulator has the disadvantage that only one person can engage in simulation. The purpose of this study was to solve the shortcomings of the FMSS and PC-based simulators by enabling multiple people to use their PCs to simulate based on a network. The simulator is implemented through the analysis and numerical calculation of the Nomoto model, Radar function mounting, data transfer protocol design, and GUI building. To verify the simulator, the simulation results were compared and analyzed with the test results of T.S. HANBADA according to the criteria of the Korean Register of Shipping(KR) and IMO standards for ship maneuverability. As a result, It showed a relative error of 0%~ 32.1% with an average of 13.7%, and it satisfied the IMO criteria for ship maneuverability.

Investigation of Fatigue Damage of the Mooring Lines for Submerged Floating Tunnels Under Irregular Waves (불규칙 파랑 중 해중 터널 계류선의 단기 피로 손상 분석)

  • As well as the strength check, fatigue life check is also mainly required for designing mooring lines of the floating structures. In general, forces which induce dynamic structural response significantly affect to fatigue design of the mooring lines. So, waves are mainly considered as the governing loading for fatigue design of the mooring lines. In this study, characteristics of the fatigue damage of the mooring lines for submerged floating tunnels (SFT) under irregular waves are investigated. For this study time domain hydrodynamic analysis is used to obtain motion of the tunnel and tension and stresses of the mooring lines under the specific environmental conditions. Also, the Rainflow-counting method, the Palmgren-Miner's rule, and S-N curves for floating offshore structures presented by DNV recommendation is applied to calculate the fatigue damage due to the fluctuating stresses. Referring to the design plactice of the tendon pipes for TLP (tension-leg platform), which is very similar structural system to SFT, it is assumed that a 100 year return period wave attacks the SFT systems during 48 hours and the fatigue damages due to the environmental loading are calculated. Following the analysis sequence, the effects of the tunnel draft, spacing and initial inclination angle of the mooring lines on the fatigue damage under the specific environmental loadings are investigated.

Efficient Construction of Generalized Suffix Arrays by Merging Suffix Arrays (써픽스 배열 합병을 이용한 일반화된 써픽스 배열의 효율적인 구축 알고리즘)

  • We consider constructing the generalized suffix way of strings A and B when the suffix arrays of A and B are given, j.e., merging two suffix arrays of A and B. There are efficient algorithms to merge some special suffix arrays such as the odd array and the even array. However, for the general case that A and B are arbitrary strings, no efficient merging algorithms have been developed. Thus, one had to construct the generalized suffix arrays of A and B by constructing the suffix array of A$\#$B$\$$ from scratch, even though the suffix ways of A and B are given. In this paper, we Present efficient merging algorithms for the suffix arrays of two arbitrary strings A and B drawn from constant and integer alphabets. The experimental results show that merging two suffix ways of A and B are about 5 times faster than constructing the suffix way of A$\#$B$\$$ from scratch for constant alphabets. Our algorithms include searching all suffixes of string B in the suffix array of A. To do this, we use suffix links in suffix ways and we developed efficient algorithms for computing the suffix links. Efficient computation of suffix links is another contribution of this paper because it can be used to solve other problems occurred in bioinformatics that should search all suffixes of a given string in the suffix array of another string such as computing matching statistics, finding longest common substrings, and so on. The experimental results show that our methods for computing suffix links is about 3-4 times faster than the previous fastest methods.

Optimum Dumping Rate of Biodegradable Liquid Waste in Ocean Disposal (분해성 액상폐기물의 해양처리시 최적 투기율)

  • Among the biodegradable liquid waste treatment and disposal methods, ocean dumping is a cost-effective and productive manner considering reuse point of view However, when biodegradable liquid waste is dumped in the ocean, oxygen consumption by the decomposition of organic matter must be considered. The purpose of this study is to determine the maximum allowable concentration and dumping rate in the southern waters of the East Sea based on dissolved oxygen level. Streeter and Phelps' model has been used to determine the maximum allowable concentration. Factors in this model, deoxygenation constants and reaeration coefficients, have been determined by appling oxygen consumption method and closed system model. Deoxygenation constants and reaeration coefficients from surface to each standard depth are $0.24\~0.29/day\;and\;0.03\~0.39/day$ in summer, $0.17\~0.20/day\;and\;0.04\~0.56/day$ in winter, respectively. The allowable organic matter concentration($mgBOD/\iota$) to the dissolved oxy-gen sag value of $5mg/{\iota}$ is represented $17.23\times(H)^{-0.37}$ in summer, and $64.96\times(H)^{-0.52}$ in winter by mixing depth(H, m). Csanady's experiment has been applied to estimate the optimum dumping rate. The optimum dumping rate($R,\;m^3/sec$) can be written as a product of the beam(b, m) and the draft(h, m) of vessel, and biochemical oxygen demand of waste($L_n,\;mg/{\iota}$) $R=275{\times}bh^{0.63}L_n^{-1}$ in summer $=745{\times}bh^{0.48}L_n^{-1}$ in winter. The difference of dumping rate between in summer and winter is due to the oxygen distribution.

Studies on the Compositions of Odd number Fatty acid of Vegetability lipids (식물성 유지의 홀수 지방산에 대하여(호도, 복숭아씨, 살구씨를 중심으로))

  • The contents of odd number fatty acid in walnut, peach seed and apricot seed were analyzed by HPLC. The results were as follows; the contents of crude oil in walnut, peach seed and apricot seed were 61.7%, 48.21%, and 52.34%, respectively. The contents of neutral lipid in walnut peach seed, and apricot seed were contained 62.32%, 91.50%, and 88.00%, respectively. The contents of glycolipid in walnut peach seed and apricot seed were contained 34.14%, 3.25%, and 4.78%, respectively. The contents of phospholipid in walnut peach seed and apricot seed were contained 3.54%, 5.25%, and 7.27%, respectively. The contents of odd number fatty acid and even number fatty acid in neutralipid were walnut 37.07% and 36.72%, peach seed 5.4% and 94.60%, and apricot seed 6.85% and 93.92%, respectively. The contents of odd number fatty acid and even number fatty acid in glycolipid were walnut 5.37% and 46.21%, peach seed 6.97% and 89.42%, and apricot seed 10.50% and 89.42%, respectively. The contents of odd number fatty acid and even number fatty acid in phospholipld were walnut 3.57% and 96.43%, peach speed 6.51% and 93.49%, and apricot seed 15.00% and 84.20%, respectively. The contents of odd number fatty and even number fatty acid in total fatty acid were walnut 14.47% and 85.53%, peach seed 1.17% and 98.83%, and apricot seed 4.3% and 95.97%, respectively.
