Hydrodynamic Characteristic of Dam-break Wave in urban area for different Angles of Approach Flow (범람홍수파의 접근각도에 따른 도시지역의 동수역학적 특성)

  • 최근에 이상기후로 인해 예측하기 힘든 기상현상들이 돌발적이고 대규모의(또는 설계빈도를 초과하는) 집중호우를 야기하여 댐과 같은 수공구조물의 안전을 위협하고 있다. 그러므로 이러한 대규모의 집중호우로 발생되는 댐의 붕괴에 대한 대책을 수립하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 특히 댐의 붕괴가 도시의 침수로 이어지는 경우는 더욱 많은 인명과 재산피해를 발생시키므로 도시지역을 흐르는 범람홍수파의 특성에 대한 규명은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 홍수범람파의 특성을 3차원 수치모형인 FLOW-3D를 이용하여 모의하였다. 저류 수심 0.4m, 두께 0.8m의 댐이 붕괴하여 붕괴폭이 1m가 된다고 가정하였고, 도시지역은 댐으로부터 5m 거리에 위치한다고 가정하였다. 대상 도시지역은 $0.3m{\times}0.3m{\times}0.6m$($L{\times}W{\times}H$)인 정사각형 블록들을 $5{\times}5$ 정방향으로 배치하였고, 수리실험 결과와 비교 검증하였다. 그리고 범람홍수파가 흐름방향과 일치하게 접근해오는 경우와 도시지역으로의 접근각도에 따른 범람홍수파의 변화를 보기위해 흐름방향에 대하여 각각 $10^{\circ}$, $22.5^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$ 회전시킨 경우에 대해 수치모의를 수행하였다. 그리고 각 경우의 침수영향들을 비교하여 그 차이점을 분석하였다. 모의 결과 범람홍수파의 접근각도가 흐름방향에 대해 커질수록 도시선단에서 도수는 적게 일어났고 유속도 감소하였으며, 수심은 증가하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 범람홍수파가 흐름방향과 일치하게 접근해 올 때가 가장 위험한 case 라는 것을 알 수 있다. 이 결과는 추후 유체-구조물간의 연성해석을 통하여 범람 홍수파의 흐름이 건물에 주는 영향까지 파악한다면 예방대책 수립의 보다 더 정확한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

A Study on Simulation of Dam-break Wave Using Two-dimensional Finite Volume Model (2차원 유한체적모형을 이용한 댐 붕괴파 모의에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, in order to reduce the numerical oscillation due to the unbalance between source and flux terms as the HLLC scheme is applied to the flow analysis on the irregular bed topography, a unstructured finite volume model based on the well-balanced HLLC scheme and the shallow water equations is developed and applied to problems of dam-break waves. The well-balanced HLLC scheme considers directly the gradient of bed topography as the flux terms is calculated. This scheme provides the good numerical balance between the source and flux terms in the case of the application to the steady-state transcritical flow. To verify the numerical model developed in this study, it is applied to three cases of hydraulic model experiments and a field case study of Mapasset dam failure (France). As a result of the verification, the predicted numerical results agree relatively well with available laboratory and field measurements. The model provides slightly more accurate results compared with the existing models.

A Simulation Study on Capacity Planning in Reentrant Hybrid Flowshops (재투입이 존재하는 혼합흐름공정의 용량계획에 관한 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • In this study, we consider a capacity planning problem of reentrant hybrid flowshops. High-tech electronic products such as semiconductor or TFT-LCD, are produced from manufacturing systems which can be considered as reentrant hybrid flowshops. In the considered capacity planning problem, we determine the number of machines at each stage in the manufacturing system. We introduce criteria indicating which stage needs additional machines or which stage needs reduction of machines considering the characteristics of the product types and the manufacturing system. The objective function of the problem is maximizing throughput rate of the system, of which values are obtained from the simulation model depicting the hybrid flowshops. The performance of the proposed methods were evaluated through a series of computational experiments. The simulation model was also used for conducting the comparison experiments among the proposed method and benchmarks.

A Study of Flow Characteristics in Meandering River (사행하천에서의 흐름특성 비교에 관한 연구)

  • Levee failure cause the huge amount of damage to human and property. Overflow and erosion of levee are primary cause of a break in a levee but the analysis of breach pattern and impact is partially inadequate. The flow characteristics of meandering rivers are very important in field of river hydraulics that should be studied in practical viewpoints relating to river levee. In meandering the secondary flow that rotary direction is changed reciprocally occurs in three dimension is known. In this study flow characteristics of local river are considered and of meandering channels are analyzed using CCHE2D and FLOW3D. The stability and accuracy of models are examined comparing the measuring and analyzed data for the experimental channel and natural river(Namgang). Consequently, the flow characteristics in a meandering river are suggested precisely and it is essential that river levees having meandering river should be analyzed.

Knowledge Trend Analysis of Uncertainty in Biomedical Scientific Literature (생의학 학술 문헌의 불확실성 기반 지식 동향 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Uncertainty means incomplete stages of knowledge of propositions due to the lack of consensus of information and existing knowledge. As the amount of academic literature increases exponentially over time, new knowledge is discovered as research develops. Although the flow of time may be an important factor to identify patterns of uncertainty in scientific knowledge, existing studies have only identified the nature of uncertainty based on the frequency in a particular discipline, and they did not take into consideration of the flow of time. Therefore, in this study, we identify and analyze the uncertainty words that indicate uncertainty in the scientific literature and investigate the stream of knowledge. We examine the pattern of biomedical knowledge such as representative entity pairs, predicate types, and entities over time. We also perform the significance testing using linear regression analysis. Seven pairs out of 17 entity pairs show the significant decrease pattern statistically and all 10 representative predicates decrease significantly over time. We analyze the relative importance of representative entities by year and identify entities that display a significant rising and falling pattern.

2D Numerical Simulations for Shallow-water Flows in the Channel with a Side Weir (측면 위어가 있는 수로의 천수 흐름에 대한 2차원 수치모의)

  • 홍수 저감, 생태계 복원, 위락 등 다양한 목적의 충족을 위해 강변에 저류지, 즉 다목적 유수지(detention basin)를 조성하는 사례가 나타나고 있다. 하천에서 홍수의 발생으로 수위가 어떤 기준보다 높아지면, 흐름의 일부를 돌려 저류지로 보냄으로써 본류의 부담을 덜 수 있다. 이때, 흐름의 분기를 위해 설치되는 하천구조물 중 하나가 측면 위어(side weir) 또는 횡월류 위어(side discharge/overflow weir)이다. 하천의 계획과 설계에서 위어가 적용될 때, 위어에 대한 수위-유량 관계, 즉 그 형식과 제원에 적합한 유량계수(discharge coefficient)의 결정이 관건이 된다. 일반적인 위어와 달리 흐름 양상이 복잡한 측면 위어의 경우, 이론과 실제의 괴리가 아직까지 해소되지 않아 실물 또는 3차원 수치 모형을 이용한 시험으로 수위-유량 관계를 수립할 필요가 있다. 이렇게 결정된 수위-유량 관계는 1차원 또는 수심적분 2차원 모형의 내부 또는 외부 경계로 사용되며, 본류의 수위 증감에 따른 측면 위어의 횡월류량을 통해 저류지의 홍수 조절 능력을 평가할 수 있다. 이 연구에서는, 측면 위어의 수위-유량 관계가 알려지지 않더라도, 저류지에 의한 홍수 조절 효과를 평가할 수 있는 2차원 수치모의에 대해 검토하였다. 수치해법으로서 2차원 천수방정식에 대해 유한체적법을 적용하고, 흐름률(flux)의 정확한 계산을 위해 근사 Riemann 해법을 도입하였다. 먼저, 측면 위어가 없는 실험 조건에 대해 수로 내 한 측선에서 측정된 수위와 유량을 모의 결과와 비교하여 모형을 검증하였다. 이때, 경계조건으로 상류 끝에 측정 유량을, 하류 끝에 측정 수위를 부여하였으며, Manning의 조도계수를 0.014로 설정하였다. 또한, 측면 위어가 설치된 수로에 대해 계산 영역을 340개의 삼각형 격자로 분할하고 측면 위어가 없는 경우와 동일한 조건을 두어 모의하였다. 측면 위어의 하류에 위치한 측선에서 측정치에 대한 평균 제곱근(root mean square) 오차가 수위에 대해 1.9 mm, 유량에 대해 $2.2{\ell}/s$로서 그림과 같이 모의 결과는 실험의 그것과 잘 일치하였다. 이로써, 측면 위어에 대한 수위-유량 관계의 수립을 위한 실물 모형 시험 없이 수심적분 2차원 수치모의를 통해 저류지의 홍수 조절 효과를 평가할 수 있음이 확인되었다.

Numerical Analysis of Dam-Break Flow in an Experimental Channel using Cut-Cell Method (분할격자기법을 이용한 실험수조 댐붕괴파의 수치모의)

  • In this study, dam-break flows are simulated numerically by using an efficient and accurate Cartesian cut-cell mesh system. In the system, most of the computational domain is discretized by the Cartesian mesh, while peculiar grids are done by a cutcell mesh system. The governing equations are then solved by the finite volume method. An HLLC approximate Riemann solver and TVD-WAF method are employed to calculation of advection flux of the shallow-water equations. To validate the numerical model, the model is applied to some problems such as a steady flow convergence on an ideal bed, a steady flow over an irregular bathymetry, and a rectangular tank problem. The present model is finally applied to a simulation of dam-break flow on an experimental channel. The predicted water surface elevations are compared with available laboratory measurements. A very reasonable agreement is observed.

Numerical investigation of swash-swash interaction driven by double dam-break using OpenFOAM (OpenFOAM을 활용한 포말대 이중 댐-붕괴 수치모형실험)

  • This study aims to provide a better understanding of the turbulent flow characteristics in swash zone. A double dam-break method is employed to generate the swash zone flow. Comparing with the conventional single dam-break method, a delay between two gate opening can be controlled to reproduce various interactions between uprush and backwash. For numerical simulations, overInterDyMFoam based on OpenFOAM is adopted. Using overInterDyMFoam, interface between two immiscible fluids having different densities (i.e., air and water phases) can be tracked in a moving mesh with multiple layers. Two-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved with a standard 𝜅-𝜖 turbulence model for momentum and continuity. Numerical model results are validated with laboratory experiment data for the time series of water depth and streamwise velocity. Turbulent kinetic energy distribution is further investigated to identify the turbulence evolution for each flow regime (i.e., uprush, backwash, and swash-swash interaction).

Numerical Simulation of Submerged Hydraulic Jump Using k-ω SST Turbulence Model (k-ω SST 난류모형을 이용한 수중도수의 수치모의)

  • In the case of multi-function weirs installed in Korea, the free hydraulic jump or the submerged hydraulic jump is occurred depending on the height of the gate opening and the tailwater level when the sluice gate of the movable weir is partially opened. In this study, the submerged hydraulic jump for the flows under the sluice gate were simulated and the mean flow, turbulence statistics, and relative water depth are investigated using numerical simulation. For numerical simulation, the unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equation, volume of fluid method, and k-ωSST turbulence model were used. The numerical model was validated using the results of other researchers' previously performed experiments, and it was investigated that the numerical model appropriately simulates the two-phase flow in the hydraulic jump. In addition, the distribution of mean flow, turbulence statistics, and the length of recirculation region was investigated.

Greedy Heuristic Algorithm for the Optimal Location Allocation of Pickup Points: Application to the Metropolitan Seoul Subway System (Pickup Point 최적입지선정을 위한 Greedy Heuristic Algorithm 개발 및 적용: 서울 대도시권 지하철 시스템을 대상으로)

  • Some subway passengers may want to have their fresh vegetables purchased through internet at a service facility within the subway station of the Metropolitan Seoul subway system on the way to home, which raises further questions about which stations are chosen to locate service facilities and how many passengers can use the facilities. This problem is well known as the pickup problem, and it can be solved on a traffic network with traffic flows which should be identified from origin stations to destination stations. Since flows of the subway passengers can be found from the smart card transaction database of the Metropolitan Seoul smart card system, the pickup problem in the Metropolitan Seoul subway system is to select subway stations for the service facilities such that captured passenger flows are maximized. In this paper, we have formulated a model of the pickup problem on the Metropolitan Seoul subway system with subway passenger flows, and have proposed a fast heuristic algorithm to select pickup stations which can capture the most passenger flows in each step from an origin-destination matrix which represents the passenger flows. We have applied the heuristic algorithm to select the pickup stations from a large volume of traffic network, the Metropolitan Seoul subway system, with about 400 subway stations and five millions passenger transactions daily. We have obtained not only the experimental results in fast response time, but also displayed the top 10 pickup stations in a subway guide map. In addition, we have shown that the resulting solution is nearly optimal by a few more supplementary experiments.
