Design and Implementation of an Efficient FTL for Large Block Flash Memory using Improved Hybrid Mapping (향상된 혼합 사상기법을 이용한 효율적인 대블록 플래시 메모리 변환계층 설계 및 구현)

  • Flash memory is widely used as a storage medium of mobile devices such as MP3 players, cellular phones and digital cameras due to its tiny size, low power consumption and shock resistant characteristics. Currently, there are many studies to replace HDD with flash memory because of its numerous strong points. To use flash memory as a storage medium, FTL(Flash Translation Layer) is required since flash memory has erase-before-write constraints and sizes of read/write unit and erase unit are different from each other. Recently, new type of flash memory called "large block flash memory" is introduced. The large block flash memory has different physical structure and characteristics from previous flash memory. So existing FTLs are not efficiently operated on large block flash memory. In this paper, we propose an efficient FTL for large block flash memory based on FAST(Fully Associative Sector Translation) scheme and page-level mapping on data blocks.

On the application of authorized certificate for cryptology (공인인증서의 암호학 활용에 관한 연구)

  • With the advance of function of smart phone system and internet services, mobile trade grows more popular in the area of e-business or banking. These environmental changes, it makes the needs of authorized certificates. Authorized certificate is not only important in these days but also future society. In 2015, 27 millions of Korean people used public key certificate, but most of them does not know the details on the public key certificate. Therefore, in this paper, we explain and investigate the characteristics on the public certificate and explain the relation ship between authorized certificate and public key encrytion. By investigating several papers, internet data, newspapers and books, we found the historical changes, substantial aspects, the encryption systems on the authorized certificate. Also we study the pros and cons of authorized certificate. Finally we predict the number of issued authorized certificate for the future society based on nonparametric statistical method.

Design and Implementation of WWAN Antenna with Metal Structure for Increasing Frequency Bandwidth and Gain (안테나 대역폭과 이득 향상을 위한 금속 구조체가 적용된 WWAN 안테나의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we proposed the internal antenna on PCB(Planar Circuit Board) for achieving WWAN(Wireless Wide Area Network) operation in the laptop computer. The proposed antenna has a metal structure instead of printed pattern on PCB to improve the antenna characteristics for GSM850/900 bands. Compared to PCB embedded antenna without metal structure, the proposed antenna occupies similar area of $74{\times}11{\times}0.5\;mm^3$ with before and the bandwidth of the proposed one for GSM850/900 bands is increased 13 MHz than before. Further we confirmed that the proposed antenna has higher radiation gain of -4.45~-2.29 dBi for GSM850/900 bands than PCB embedded antenna without metal structure.

  • With the high demand for Geographic Information System and the diversification of Spatial Information, it has been required a rapid and accurate input system, updating system and an efficient field survey system to organize database for thematic mapping. Following the purpose, several indispensable modules have to be Invented to build a GPS Lap-top Computer System using low cost GPS receivers. These modules include such as an interface module between GPS receivers and lap-top computers, a data processing module for standalone GPS or Real-time Differential GPS, a module to input or amend digital map and to transfer three-dimensional coordinates in real-time, and finially a module to enter attribute value and feature code based on standard specification of digital maps for controlling position and attribute data. In this paper, it Is presented the efficiency of method to acquire and to input or to amend spatial information using a GPS Lap-top Computer System.

  • Nowadays u-healthcare which is very sensitive to the character of user's information among other ubiquitous computing field is popular in medical field. u-healthcare deals extremely personal information including personal health/medical information so it is exposed to various weaknees and threats in the part of security and privacy. In this paper, RFID based patient's information protecting protocol that prevents to damage the information using his or her mobile unit illegally by others is proposed. The protocol separates the authority of hospital(doctor, nurse, pharmacy) to access to patient's information by level of access authority of hospital which is registered to management server and makes the hospital do the minimum task. Specially, the management server which plays the role of gateway makes access permission key periodically not to be accessed by others about unauthorized information except authorized information and improves patient's certification and management.

  • 세계 반도체 시장은 컴퓨터 기능이 더해진 모바일 기기의 수요가 증가함에 따라 메모리반도체의 시장규모가 최근 빠른 속도로 증가했다. 특히 모바일 기기에서 저장장치 역할을 하는 비휘발성 반도체인 NAND Flash Memory는 스마트폰 및 태블릿PC 등 휴대용 기기의 수요 증가, SSD (Solid State Drive)를 탑재한 PC의 수요 확대, 서버용 SSD시장의 활성화 등으로 연평균 18.9%의 성장을 보이고 있다. 이러한 경제적인 배경 속에서 NAND Flash 미세공정 기술의 마지막 단계로 여겨지는 1Xnm 공정이 개발되었다. 그러나 1Xnm Flash Memory의 생산은 새로운 제조설비 구축과 차세대 공정 기술의 적용으로 제조비용이 상승하는 단점이 있다. 이에 따라 제조공정기술을 미세화하지 않고 기존의 수평적 셀구조에서 수직적 셀구조로 설계 구조를 다양화하는 기술이 대두되고 있는데 이 중 Flash Memory의 대용량화와 수명 향상을 동시에 추구할 수 있는 3D NAND 기술이 주목을 받게 되면서 공정기술의 변화도 함께 대두되고 있다. 3D NAND 기술은 기존라인에서 전환하는데 드는 비용이 크지 않으며, 노광장비의 중요도가 축소되는 반면, 증착(Chemical Vapor Deposition) 및 식각공정(Etching)의 기술적 난이도와 스텝수가 증가한다. 이 중 V-NAND 3D 기술에서 사용하는 박막증착 공정의 경우 산화막과 질화막을 번갈아 증착하여 30layer 이상을 하나의 챔버 내에서 연속으로 증착한다. 다층막 증착 공정이 비정상적으로 진행되었을 경우, V-NAND Flash Memory를 제조하기 위한 후속공정에 영향을 미쳐 웨이퍼를 폐기해야 하는 손실을 초래할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 V-NAND 다층막 증착공정 중에 다층막의 두께를 가상 계측하는 알고리즘을 개발하고자 하였다. 증착공정이 진행될수록 박막의 두께는 증가하여 커패시터 관점에서 변화가 생겨 RF 신호의 진폭과 위상의 변화가 생긴다는 점을 착안하여 증착 공정 중 PECVD 장비 RF matcher와 heater에서 RF 신호의 진폭과 위상을 실시간으로 측정하여 데이터를 수집하고, 박막의 두께와의 상관성을 분석하였다. 이 연구 결과를 토대로 V-NAND Flash memory 제조 품질향상 및 웨이퍼 손실 최소화를 실현하여 제조 시스템을 효율적으로 운영할 수 있는 효과를 기대할 수 있다.

Soft Keyboard Interface Design for Mobile Device (모바일기기를 위한 소프트키보드 인터페이스 디자인)

  • As the mobile computers such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) or Smart Phone has been widespread in our daily life, the demand of an extensive data input will gradually be increased. Consequently, many alternative soft keyboards have been proposed to satisfy this requirement. However none of them can provide an absolute solutions for that, the segregated guideline for keyboard arrangement and usage still cause much confusion to the user. Therefore, an integrated guideline is seriously required. In order to come up with the integrated guideline for Korean Soft keyboard GUI, the questionnaire and the experimental test compared with five soft keyboards were conducted in this study. As a result this paper presents five guidelines for improving an input speed of soft keyboard on the mobile computing; following familiarity for effective screen use, using a single key rather than grouping key, considering position of prediction word, considering prompt feedback, finally, considering optimized keyboard size.

  • Most of the existing applications developed undter the DOS environment exchange information with the exterior world through reading and writing files in ASCII format. A package program consisting of numerous modules has to exchange data not only between module program and the input/output files but also between module themselves, and hence information exchange via ASCII file is increasingly inefficient and less accurate as the number of modules increases. The present paper describes the design and the implementation of the interface between the module program and the database which stores all the information necessary for the execution of the application. The interface program is then applied to the existing Propeller Design and Analysis System to show that the interface functions smoothly. The development is performed on the personal computer operating under Windows 95 rather than the workstation under Unix operating system to prove that the design and analysis work can be carried out without limit in time and space.

Developement of Radiation Measuring System using Wireless Communication (무선통신을 이용한 방사선측정 시스템 개발)

  • Radiation measuring system using wireless communication method with single channel has been diveloped and tested. In this system, radiation signals from GM tube are transformed into digital pulses in pulse processing circuit and modulated in FSK (frequency shift keying) circuit for digital communication and then wirelessly transmitted to a receiving unit. The digital pulses received are then demodulated in FSK circuit and converted into radiation dose/dose rate in the data acquisition unit to display on the screen of a personal computer. The performance of this system was evaluated by using both a pulse generator and a standard radiation source(Cs-137). In both cases, digital pulses with 5V were observed in pulse processing circuit without distortion of their shape through wireless communication system. The experimental results of radiation measurement by this system after several test-irradiation of GM detector to a standard radiation source(Cs-137), showed good agreement with irradiation dose rate within 10% difference, and proved that this system could be effectively utillized as radiation measuring instrument. It is expected that this wireless radiation measuring system developed for the first time in Korea, can be used as a radiation monitor as well as a personal dosimeter if we can further improve this system to adopt wireless multichannel communication system.

  • 전자 제어식 미끄럼 방지 제동 장치(ABS, Anti-lock Brake System)를 장착한 차량의 실차 제동 시험은 시험용 차량을 비롯하여, 많은 분석장비를 필요로 한다. 이러한 고가의 장비는 구하기가 어려울 뿐만 아니라 사용방법을 학습하는 데에도 상당한 기간을 필요로 하므로, 개발중인 ABS에 대하여 적용해 보기에는 그 사용에 제약을 받는다. 본 논문에서는 개발중인 미끄럼방지 제동 알고리즘과 전자제어장치(ECU, Electronic Control Unit)를 대형 버스에 장착하여, 저 점착 노면에서 주행 시험을 시행하였고, 그 주행 기록의 분석을 위하여 DAS(Data Acquisition System)를 구현하였다. 개발 ABS 알고리즘 및 ECU의 기능과 성능 검증이 목적인 DAS는 부가적인 센서 및 고가의 장비를 사용하지 않고 제어보드와 휴대용 노트북 컴퓨터를 이용하였다. 고정밀도의 자료를 획득할 수는 없었지만, 개발 DAS를 이용한 차량 실차 제동 시험은 경제적이면서도 효과적인 ECU 및 알고리즘의 성능 분석을 이룰 수 있었다. 특히 개발 DAS는 제어 및 Data Acquisition을 동일한 보드를 사용하여 구현함으로써, ABS 장착 실차 주행 시험 결과를 제어알고리즘에 즉각적으로 반영시킨 수 있었다. 이러한 One Board System 및 On-Vehicle Programming을 이용한 방법은 개발 알고리즘의 빠른 Debugging 및 파라미터 조정(Tuning)을 가능하게 하였으므로, 실차 제동 시험을 위한 한정된 기간 내에 개발 ABS ECU 및 제어 알고리즘의 성능을 효과적으로 검증할 수 있었다.
