Verification on the Axial and Flexural Plastic Resistance Analysis of Unconfined Corrugate Steel Sheet and Concrete Composite Section (비구속 파형강판 합성단면의 압축 및 휨 소성해석방법에 관한 분석)

  • For the composite section of corrugated steel sheet and concrete, which is often used in soil structures, a conservative design method based on the ultimate strength state is still applied due to the difficulty of the analysis of compatibility condition. In this study, plastic analysis was performed on the flexural and axial strength of the composite section using two limit state design methods, LRFD and LSD. As a result of the analysis of the experimental results, the LRFD analysis value was interpreted as a conservative results for compressive strength, and it was analyzed that the effect of the concrete compressive strength was greater than the steel ratio of the steel plate. The flexural strength was analyzed to be in good agreement with the experimental results by the LSD analysis. From the parametric analysis on the design variables, the hogging moment, which is affected by the tensile strength of the steel plate, slightly decreased the increasing rate of the strength due to the influence of the bolts connection, but the sagging moment linearly increased according to the increment of steel reinforcement ratio.

Experimental and Analytical Study on the Fracture Strength of RC Beams Strengthened for Flexure with GFRP Involving the Debonding of FRP Reinforcement (보강재 박리에 의한 GFRP 휨 보강 RC보의 파괴강도에 관한 실험 및 해석적 연구)

  • Reinforced concrete (RC) structures strengthened with FRP materials would cause the loss of the reinforcing effect and the sudden failure of the structure due to the debonding of FRP. The debonding fracture strength of the FRP-strengthened concrete structures has been evaluated using the same strength method as applied in RC structures based on the debonding strain of FRP. However, the values of the FRP debonding strain are different according to design guidelines. Thus, this study carried out an experimental study on RC beams reinforced with GFRP and evaluated the debonding fracture strength of the strengthened beams from each design guideline. Since the debonding failure occurs prior to reaching the ultimate value of concrete compressive strain, this study accounts for the nonlinear stress distribution of concrete. This study also proposed equations that can evaluate the debonding strength of GFRP-strengthened RC beams with similar safety to the ultimate flexural strength of non-strengthened RC beams.

  • In this study we deal with bending behaviors of a concrete filled tubular(CFT) with various diameter-thickness ratios and concrete strengths. In finite element analysis using a commercial package(LUSAS), the bonding effect between concrete and steel in CFT structures is modeled by applying a joint element for the bonding surface. In order to consider the nonlinearity of concrete and steel tubes, stress-strain curves of the concrete and steel are used for the increased stresses in a plastic domain. The numerical results obtained from the proposed method show good agreement with the experimental data from load-displacement curves of a steel tube under distributed loads. Several parametric studies are focused on structural characteristics of CFT under bending effects for different diameter-thickness ratios and concrete strengths.

Material Properties and Structural Characteristics on Flexure of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (강섬유 보강 초고성능 콘크리트의 재료특성 및 휨 거동 역학적 특성)

  • This paper concerns the flexural behavior of steel fiber-reinforced ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) beams with compressive strength of 150 MPa. It presents experimental research results of hybrid steel fiber-reinforced UHPC beams with steel fiber content of 1.5% by volume and steel reinforcement ratio of less than 0.02. This study aims at investigating of compressive and tensile behavior of UHPC to perform a reasonable prediction for flexural capacity of UHPC beams. Tensile behavior modeling was performed using load-crack mouth opening displacement relationship obtained from bending test. The experimental results show that steel fiber-reinforced UHPC is in favor of cracking resistance and ductility of beams. The ductility indices range from 1.6 to 3.0, which means high ductility of hybrid steel fiber-reinforced UHPC. Test results and numerical analysis results for the moment-curvature relationship are compared. Though the numerical analysis results for the bending capacity of the UHPC beam without rebar is larger than test result, the overall comparative results show that the bending capacity of steel fiber-reinforced UHPC beams with compressive strength of 150 MPa can be predicted by using the established method in this paper.

Analysis of Flexural Behavior of Composite Beam with Steel Fiber Reinforced Ultra High Performance Concrete Deck and Inverted-T Shaped Steel with Tension Softening Behavior (인장연화거동을 고려한 강섬유 보강 초고성능 콘크리트 바닥판과 역T형 강재 합성보의 휨거동 해석)

  • Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) has been developed to overcome the low tensile strengths and brittleness of conventional concrete. Considering that UHPC, owing to its composition and the use of steel fibers, develops a compressive strength of 180 MPa as well as high stiffness, the top flange of the steel girder may be superfluous in the composite beam combining a slab made of UHPC and the steel girder. In such composite beam, the steel girder takes the form of an inverted-T shaped structure without top flange in which the studs needed for the composition of the steel girder with the UHPC slab are disposed in the web of the steel girder. This study investigates experimentally and analytically the flexural behavior of this new type of composite beam to propose details like stud spacing and slab thickness for further design recommendations. To that goal, eight composite beams with varying stud spacing and slab thickness were fabricated and tested. The test results indicated that stud spacing running from 100 mm to 2 to 3 times the slab thickness can be recommended. In view of the relative characteristic slip limit of Eurocode-4, the results showed that the composite beam developed ductile behavior. Moreover, except for the members with thin slab and large stud spacing, most of the specimens exhibited results different to those predicted by AASHTO LRFD and Eurocode-4 because of the high performance developed by UHPC.

Verification of experimental test for PSC-Steel-PSC hybrid beam using nonlinear FEM analysis (비선형 FEM 해석을 이용한 PSC-Steel-PSC 혼합구조 보의 휨 실험 검증)

  • 본 연구에서는 비선형 FEM 해석을 이용하여 PSC(Prestressed concrete)와 강으로 구성된 혼합구조 보의 휨 실험을 검증하였다. 혼합구조 보의 거동에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 연결부는 Perfobond rib로 구성된 경우와 스터드로 구성된 경우를 고려하였다. 이종 재료가 접하는 경계면의 상호 작용에 대해 완전합성과 부분합성인 경우를 고려하여 혼합구조 보의 비선형 해석을 수행한 후 해석 결과와 실험 결과를 비교하였다. 하중-처짐관계, 파괴 형상 등의 해석 결과를 실험 결과와 비교한 결과, 부분합성을 고려한 모형이 실험 결과와 유사한 거동을 보였으며 또한 Perfobond rib를 갖는 실험체가 스터드를 갖는 실험체보다 해석 결과와 비교 시 안전측의 결과를 나타냈다.

Parametric Crack and Flexural Strength Analyses of Concrete Slab For Railway Structures Using GFRP Rebar (GFRP 보강근을 적용한 교량용 콘크리트 도상슬래브의 균열 및 휨강도 변수 해석)

  • In this paper, we presented an optimized crack and flexural strength analysis of a glass-fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebar, used as reinforcements for in-site railway concrete slabs. The insulation performance of a GFRP rebar has the advantage of avoiding the loss of signal current in an audio frequency (AF) track circuit. A full-scale experiment, and three-dimensional finite element simulation results were compared to validate our approaches. Parametric numerical results revealed that the diameters and arrangements of the GFRP rebar had a significant effect on the flexural strength and crack control performances of the concrete track slabs. The results of this study could serve as a benchmark for future guidelines in designing more efficient, and economical concrete slabs using the GFRP rebar.

  • 일반적으로 연속경간을 가지는 강합성 I-형강 교량에 있어서 내부 지점 부근에서 상대적으로 큰 부모멘트가 발생하므로, 이에 경제적인 단면 활용을 위하여 변단면을 적용하여 휨강도를 증가시킨다. 본 연구에서는 기존 강도계산식에 관한 연구를 토대로 하여 비탄성 구간에 있는 변단면 I형보의 횡-비틀림 좌굴강도를 유한요소해석프로그램 ABAQUS(2007)를 이용하여 산정하고, 간편한 설계식을 제안하고 있다. 지간 한쪽 끝에 계단식 단면변화를 가지는 보에 대해서 고려하였으며, 플랜지 길이방향 비, 너비방향 비, 두께의 비로 계단식 I형보를 나타내었다. 해석에 사용된 단면매개변수는 36가지 조합이며, 비탄성 횡-비틀림 거동을 고려하기위하여 잔류응력 및 초기결함을 고려한 비선형해석을 실시하였는데, Pi(1995)등이 고려한 잔류응력의 형상과 국내 I형강 표준 치수 허용치에 근거하여 부재 길이의 0.1%를 초기제작오차로 고려하였다. 해석모델의 양쪽 끝단에는 모멘트하중을 재하하였다. 개발 제한된 식은 선형 모멘트 하중이 작용할 때 적용가능한 식으로 경제적이고 합리적인 설계에 적극 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

A Theoretical and Experimental Investigation on the Fatigue Strength and Fatigue Reliability Analysis of Concrete (콘크리트의 피로강도 및 피로신뢰성해석에 관한 이론 및 실험연구)

  • The fatigue strength and reliability of concrete subjected to ftexural loading is investigate. The concrete beam specimens are prepared and tested in four-point flexural loading in which the bottom fiber stress varies from zero to a predetermined maximum stress. The S-N curves are generated from these test results and an equation is obtained by regression analysis to predict the flexural fatigue strength of concrete. A method is presented to perform the probabilistic analysis on the flexural fatigue of concrete. It is shown that the Weibull distribution has physically more convincing features and may be appropriate to describe the fatigue behavior of concrete.

Flexural Resistance and Ductility Ratio of Composite Hybrid I-Girder using HSB High Performance Steel in Positive Bending (HSB 고성능 강재를 적용한 강합성 I-거더 정모멘트에 대한 휨저항강도 및 연성비)

  • In this study, flexural strength and ductility requirements of composite hybrid steel I-girder with its HSB(high performance steel for bridge) applied to tension flanges are examined in positive bending. In AASHTO LRFD specification, flexural strength and ductility requirements of composite I-girder in positive bending are specified in terms of plastic moment and plastic neutral axis that are derived from plastic behavior of conventional steel. However, plastic zone cannot be defined clearly from the stress-strain behavior of HSB unlike the behavior of conventional steel. Therefore, through idealized stress-strain curves of HSB, the plastic moment of composite hybrid steel I-girder with its HSB applied to tension flanges is defined by assuming the plastic zone of HSB. By using the consequences of numerical analysis regarding arbitrary cross-sections that have various dimensions, ductility requirements and flexural strength of composite hybrid I-girder with its HSB applied to tension flange are proposed.
