Underground urbanization appears to be a promising solution in response to the shortage of construction sites in the above-ground space. In this context, an accurate evaluation of a construction site ensures the long-term performance of geosystems. This study characterizes potential sites for complex plants built in underground space using geophysical methods (i.e., seismic refraction exploration and electrical resistivity survey) and in situ tests (i.e., standard penetration tests (SPTs) and downhole tests). SPTs are conducted in nine boreholes BH-1-BH-9 to estimate the groundwater level and vertical distribution of geological structures. The seismic refraction method enables us to obtain the elastic wave velocity and thickness of each soil layer for each cross-sectional area. An electrical resistivity survey conducted using the dipole array method provides the electrical resistivity profiles of the cross-sectional area. Data obtained using geophysical techniques are used to assess the classification of the soil layer and bedrock, particularly the fracture zone. This study suggests that geotechnical information using in situ tests and geophysical methods are useful references to design an underground complex plant construction.

This paper introduces and applies the World Bank's methodology for constructing composite index or aggregating indicators. After recalculating the world competitiveness index of IMD using Unobserved Component Model(UCM) we compare it with the existing index and try to find some implications. We also try to construct the composite index for measuring the performance of local finance. We employ the Principal Component Analysis(PCA) for validating the appropriateness of selected indicators used in making the composite index. We found that the UCM and PCA are very useful and will be used widely in various evaluations such as regional development, local finance, local competitiveness and public enterprise, etc.
The point-cloud representation of an object is performed by scanning a space through a laser scanner that is extracting a set of points, and the points are then integrated into the same coordinate system through a registration. The set of the completed registration-integrated point clouds is classified into meaningful regions, shapes, and noises through a mathematical analysis. In this paper, the aim is the matching of a curved area like a cylinder shape in 3D point-cloud data. The matching procedure is the attainment of the center and radius data through the extraction of the cylinder-shape candidates from the sphere that is fitted through the RANdom Sample Consensus (RANSAC) in the point cloud, and completion requires the matching of the curved region with the Catmull-Rom spline from the extracted center-point data using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Not only is the proposed method expected to derive a fast estimation result via linear and curved cylinder estimations after a center-axis estimation without constraint and segmentation, but it should also increase the work efficiency of reverse engineering.

Most face recognition systems are based on 2D images and applied in many applications. However, it is difficult to recognize a face when the pose varies severely. Therefore, head pose estimation is an inevitable procedure to improve recognition rate when a face is not frontal. In this paper, we propose a novel head pose estimation algorithm for 3D face recognition. Given the 3D range image of an unknown face as an input, we automatically extract facial feature points based on the face curvature. We propose an Error Compensated Singular Value Decomposition (EC-SVD) method based on the extracted facial feature points. We obtain the initial rotation angle based on the SVD method, and perform a refinement procedure to compensate for remained errors. The proposed algorithm is performed by exploiting the extracted facial features in the normaized 3D face space. In addition, we propose a 3D nearest neighbor classifier in order to select face candidates for 3D face recognition. From simulation results, we proved the efficiency and validity of the proposed algorithm.

Recently, interest in Pedestrian Navigation Service (PNS) is being increased due to the diffusion of smart phone and the improvement of location determination technology and it is efficient to use landmarks in route guidance for pedestrians due to the characteristics of pedestrians' movement and success rate of path finding. Accordingly, researches on extracting landmarks have been progressed. However, preceding researches have a limit that they only considered the difference between buildings and did not consider visual attention of maps in display of PNS. This study improves this problem by defining building attributes as local variable and global variable. Local variables reflect the saliency of buildings by representing the difference between buildings and global variables reflects the visual attention by representing the inherent characteristics of buildings. Also, this study considers the connectivity of network and solves the overlapping problem of landmark candidate groups by network voronoi diagram. To extract landmarks, we defined building attribute data based on preceding researches. Next, we selected a choice point for pedestrians in pedestrian network data, and determined landmark candidate groups at each choice point. Building attribute data were calculated in the extracted landmark candidate groups and finally landmarks were extracted by principal component analysis. We applied the proposed method to a part of Gwanak-gu, Seoul and this study evaluated the extracted landmarks by making a comparison with labels and landmarks used by portal sites such as the NAVER and the DAUM. In conclusion, 132 landmarks (60.3%) among 219 landmarks of the NAVER and the DAUM were extracted by the proposed method and we confirmed that 228 landmarks which there are not labels or landmarks in the NAVER and the DAUM were helpful to determine a change of direction in path finding of local level.

In this paper, we propose an effective bar code detection algorithm using the feature analysis and the labeling. After computing the direction of pixels using four line operators, we obtain the histogram about the direction of pixels by a block unit. We calculate the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the histogram and consider the block that have the largest difference value as the block of the bar code region. We get the line passing by the bar code region with the selected block but detect blocks of interest to get the more accurate line. The largest difference value is used to decide the threshold value to obtain the binary image. After obtaining a binary image, we do the labeling about the binary image. Therefore, we find blocks of interest in the bar code region. We calculate the gradient and the center of the bar code with blocks of interest, and then get the line passing by the bar code and detect the bar code. As we obtain the gray level of the line passing by the bar code, we grasp the information of the bar code.

This study analyzed the priorities of the cross-compliance items of public-benefit direct payment using an Analytic Hierarchy Process and Fuzzy Decision Making Analysis. The valuation criteria are policy efficiency, farm acceptability, and feasibility, and the valuation targets are the basic and additional cross-compliance items. The survey was performed by targeting 50 experts from each class, and conducted for about a month starting from the beginning of July 2019. The results show that the weight of the valuation criteria is higher in the order of farm acceptability, feasibility, and policy efficiency. Compliance with PLS standards, compliance with disposal standards of waste vinyl and pesticides, soil testing, compliance with toxic substance standards, education, etc. are comparatively evaluated to be higher cross-compliance items in basic cross-compliance. Disposing of an abandoned well, jointly collecting and disposing of agricultural by-products, common area care and cleaning, maintenance of empty houses and poor facilities, growing green manure crops during the fallow period, etc. are comparatively evaluated to be higher cross-compliance items for the additional cross-compliance. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the government's policy related to the cross-compliance of public-benefit direct payment.

As science and technology advanced, specialized and massive, development through mutual cooperation or research based on patent licensing such as material transfer contract, technology transfer contract etc are actively taking place to minimize or separate the cost and risk of R&D. In R&D, such mutual work can enjoy the merit of division of labor by effectively allocating resources and manpower to accomplish its goal. Inevitably, however, there are also many possibilities of disputes regarding the ownership and use of intellectual property rights resulting from such mutual/post-studies, or inventions upgraded by using prior patents. The case reviewed by this paper is noticeable regarding the recent trend of upgraded inventions. In the case, a pharmaceutical company conducted tests/assessments on the complete technology of patent owned by a university on the premise of transferring the technology, and then terminated the technology transfer contract due to reasons of toxicity. The university then filed a damage claim suit against the company for infringing the contract. This is a dispute case betw een a university which developed a potential ingredient for new medicine and a pharmaceutical company which agreed to transfer and receive the technological later on. Regarding the upgraded inventions of source patents, this case has many implications on the protection of prior patents, research contract, and research security to protect the accomplishment of research. This paper reviews the subject ruling and the protection of upgraded patents and source technologies. As critical notes, the paper also summarizes the major issues of case ruling to observe the standard of ruling patent infringement related to the extortion of upgraded patents. Then, through the ruling of the case above, the paper suggests implications and future strategies.
This paper is to review a literature concerning Bus Transit Route Network Design(BTRNDP), to describe a future study direction for a systematic application for the BTRNDP. Since a bus transit uses a fixed route, schedule, stop, therefore an approach methodology is different from that of auto network design problem. An approach methodology for BTRNDP is classified by 8 categories: manual & guideline, market analysis, system analytic model. heuristic model. hybrid model. experienced-based model. simulation-based model. mathematical optimization model. In most previous BTRNDP, objective function is to minimize user and operator costs, and constraints on the total operator cost, fleet size and service frequency are common to several previous approach. Transit trip assignment mostly use multi-path trip assignment. Since the search for optimal solution from a large search space of BTRNDP made up by all possible solutions, the mixed combinatorial problem are usually NP-hard. Therefore, previous researches for the BTRNDP use a sequential design process, which is composed of several design steps as follows: the generation of a candidate route set, the route analysis and evaluation process, the selection process of a optimal route set Future study will focus on a development of detailed OD trip table based on bus stop, systematic transit route network evaluation model. updated transit trip assignment technique and advanced solution search algorithm for BTRNDP.
One of the most important types of Customer Empowerment Strategy (CES) is select empowerment, where firms allow customers to vote on a product to be marketed. However, there is limited research on the advantages and disadvantages of select empowerment. In particular, there are few studies on the composition of a voting system. This study analyzes customer participation behavior, such as willingness to vote and strategic voting (i.e., voting for candidates not based on utility orders), under the different voting systems: 1) the number of votes per customer (single or multiple), and 2) the number of final choices (single or multiple). Uncertainty is proposed as a mediator that links the voting system difference and customer participation. Two research hypotheses are tested using multiple linear regression analysis and a natural effects model based on data from two online experiments. As a result, the multiple voting system (i.e., multiple winners are selected by customer votes) shows a direct positive effect on willingness to vote and strategic voting behavior. In addition, the result shows that uncertainty insignificantly mediates the relationship between the voting system and customer participation. Academic and managerial contributions are discussed with several future research directions.
