Identification of Crack Orientation in a Simple Rotor (회전체에서의 균열 방위 결정)

  • Vibration characteristics which are typical in a cracked rotor can be utilized for detection of crack. The changing trend of harmonics at the second harmonic resonant speed according to the crack depth and the unbalance orientation has been discussed. To characterize the vibration depending on crack orientation, the unbalance and gravitational responses of the cracked rotor are calculated. An algorithm for crack orientation identification is also introduced. A trial mass is attached step by step with even angle interval along a certain circumference, and then the synchronous and second horizontal harmonic compenents of vibration are measured and curve-fitted using least square method. Numerical simulations using this method show good results.

  • 기존 대부분의 진동제어법이 모드제어에 근거한 것인데 반면, 본 연구에서는 진동억제의 또다른 방법인 파동제어기법을 다루었다. 무반사조건을 만족하면서 진동에너지를 흡수하는 파동제어는 특히 1차원 구조계에 유용하게 사용될 수 있으리라고 기대되는데, 현실적으론 제어알고리즘의 실현화에 그 어려움이 있다. 본 연구에서는 근사화된 무한구조계를 계산기내에 구축하여, 진동에너지가 근사 무한구조계에 흡수되는 조건을 제어기가 실현하는 제어수법을 개발하였다. 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여, 본 연구에서 제안한 파동제어기법에 의해 회전체의 비틀림 진동억제가 효율적으로 이루어짐을 확인할 수가 있었다.

  • This paper is designed the efficient Data Acquisition System for an vibration of rotatory machines. The Data Acquisition System is consist of the analog logic having signal filer and amplifier, and digital logic with ADC, DSP, FPGA and FIFO memory. The vibration signal of rotatory machines acquired from sensors is controlled by the FPGA device through the analog logic and is saved to FIFO memory being converted analog to digital signal. The digital signal process is performed by the DSP using the vibration data in FIFO memory. The vibration factor of the rotatory machinery analysis and diagnosis is defined the RMS, Peak to Peak, average, GAP, FFT of vibration data and digital filtering by DSP, and is need to follow as being happened the event of vibration and make an application to an warning system. It takes time to process the several analysis step of all vibration data and the event follow, also special event. It should be continuously performed the data acquisition and the process, however during processing the input signal the DSP can not be performed to the acquisited data after then, also it will be lose the data at several channel. Therefore it is that the system uses efficiently the DSP and FPGA devices for reducing the data lose, it design to process a part of the signal data to FPGA from DSP in order to minimize the process time, and a process to parallel process system, as a result of design system it propose to method of faster process and more efficient data acquisition system by using DSP and FPGA than signal DSP system.

Analysis of Torsional Natural Viibration Characteristics of Rotors (회전체의 비틀림 고유진동 해석)

  • A method to estimate the torsional critical speed for practical rotors has been developed in this study. First, the rotor with a uniform shaft segment is modeled for undamped torsional motion analysis, while satisfying all the boundary conditions. This eventually generates governing equations for the torsional critical speeds of the system. The set of governing equations has the form of a sparse and banded matrix. The elements of banded matrix can be arranged in partitions, which correspond to the specific boundary of the rotor. This permits an automatic generation of the system matrix using a computer. In order to calculate the determinant generated by the simultaneous equations, which leads to the torsional critical speed, a recurring numerical algorithm for a (3*4) sub-matrix has been used. This numerical algorithm practically examines successive (3*4) sub-matrix, one at a time, instead of treating a huge matrix. The output of the program provides the mode shapes with continuous curves. The method has been implemented to three rotors given as examples : a simple rotor, Prohl's rotor, and Macmillan rotor.

  • A new modal analysis method for rotor systems with periodically time-varying parameters is proposed. The essence of method is to introduce modulated coordinates to derive the equivalent time-invariant equation. This paper presents a modal analysis method using modulated coordinates fur general rotors, of which rotating and stationary parts both possess asymmetric properties. The equation of motion with time-varying parameters is transformed to an infinite order matrix equation with the time-invariant parameters. A theory of modal analysis for the system is presented with the infinite order equation and a couple of reduced order equations. A numerical example with simple asymmetric rotor is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

  • Experiment on the modal balancing of a flexible rotor supported on two kinds of fluid film bearings is performed to verify the modal balancing theory. The fluid film bearings are a tilting pad bearing and a two axial grooved journal bearing. One is inherently stable, but the other is not. The experimental result shows that the modal balancing method is effective for balancing of a high speed flexible rotor system. Besides, the critical speeds and mode shapes measured experimentally are in good coincidence with the results of rotordynamic analysis. Oil whip, which is the instability phenomenon due to fluid film force, is also observed during the experiment.

  • Engine builders have separately developed and applied torsional, axial and structural vibration monitoring system on most marine engines. These systems displayed their results for engine or ship operation engineers and were not regularly stored at the hardware of computer. So, tile history and trend of various engine and hull vibrations was not supported for preventive maintenance and to protect the failure of these activity or function. The integrated vibration or stress monitoring system(EVAMOS : Engine/Rotor Analysis and monitoring System) in marine diesel engine, its machineries and hull have been developed by the dynamics laboratory of Mokpo Maritime University during last 3 years. This paper introduces tile design conception and ability of commercial software EVAMOS with field data on several actual tests.
