Rheological Properties of Rehydrated Suspensions of Freeze Dried Kochujang Powders (동결건조 분말고추장의 재수화시 리올로지 특성)

  • Rheological properties of rehydrated suspensions of two kinds of freeze dried Kochujang powders, processed at different freezing rates, were compared with raw Kochujang using Brookfield wide-gap rotational viscometer at $25^{\circ}C-60^{\circ}C$. Shear rates ranged from $0.1965\;sec^{-1}$ to $1.9650\;sec^{-1}$ and solid content ranged from 47% to 56%. Rehydrated suspensions of quickly frozen Kochujang powder and slowly frozen Kochujang powder, and raw Kochujang exhibited pseudoplastic behaviors with yield stress and presented thixotropic properties which followed the second-order kinetic behavior proposed by Tiu. Suspensions of Kochujang powders exhibited considerably higher decaying rates than raw Kochujang. The dependency of the equilibrium structure parameter on the shear rate was weak, and there were no significant differences among the values of structure parameters of three samples. The temperature dependency of the apparent viscosity of Kochujang suspension was fully expressed by Arrhenius equation and activation energies of suspensions of quickly frozen Kochujang powder and slowly frozen Kochujang powder, and raw Kochujang were 2.21, 2.18, and 2.32 Kcal/g.mole respectively. Consistency indices of three samples increased with solid content and decreased with temperature. Flow behavior indices of three samples showed no considerable dependency on the temperature and solid content. There were no significant differences in the rheological properties between two Kochujang powders.

  • This study was conducted to develop the semi-crawler type mini-forwarder that can be operated comfortable small-scale logging operation in the steep terrain and also used at a variety of operations such as the civil work in erosion control and forest-road. Considering the minimum turning radius and the width of forest operation road, the total length, width and loading capacity of the semi-crawler type mini-forwarder is 5,750 mm, 1,900 mm and $2.5m^{3}$, respectively. The maximum engine power is 96ps at 3600 rpm. Selected hydraulic pumps are consists of two main pumps and two sub-main pumps. Main hydraulic pumps are utilized to running motor of the front wheel and rear crawler. Sub-main pumps are utilized to the actuation parts such as steering, crane, out-rigger and dump cylinder. The transmission was adapted as the HST (Hydro-Static Transmission) system. The driving parts are designed and manufactured as the front wheel type and the rear crawler type. The steering type was manufactured as the ackerman type. Driving control parts type was designed and manufactured as driver's seat type of normal cars. It is also attached on auxiliary equipments such as winch, log grapple and out-rigger. The traveling speed of the semi-crawler type mini-forwarder in forest road was 5.3 km/hr to 7.7 km/hr.

Effect of EGR on power and exhaust emissions in diesel engine (디젤엔진의 출력 및 배기가스에 미치는 EGR의 영향)

  • Diesel engines are widely used due to superior power and fuel consumption, however there are many challenges in exhaust gas management. Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is the most effective technique for reducing mono-nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in a diesel engine, in comparison with other catalytic technologies. In addition, the technology has a number of advantages in terms of economic efficiency and implementation. In this study, the effects on the power and exhaust characteristics of diesel engines equipped with EGR systems were investigated. It was found that as the EGR rate increased, horsepower expressed as IHP and BHP decreased. The net effect of the application of EGR was measured at various engine speeds. EGR technology caused decreases in BHP of around 9% during low engine speed and 3.5% during high engine speed. Additionally, NOx emissions reduced as the EGR rate increased, and increased as engine speed increased. However, smoke emissions increased as the EGR rate increased, and decreased as engine speed increased. The optimum operating conditions and ERG rate to simultaneously achieve minimum NOx and smoke emissions were investigate. It was found that as the EGR rate increased, optimal operating speed for minimal NOx and smoke also increased. Effects of Emulsifier Additions on the Physical Properties of Extruded Psyllium (유화제 첨가에 따른 차전자피 압출성형물의 물리적 특성)

  • This study aims to investigate the physical properties of extruded psyllium husk upon the addition of emulsifiers. Three different emulsifiers-glycerol monostearate (GMS), polyglycerol ester (PGE), and sugar ester (SE)-were added to the mixture of psyllium husk and rice powder before extrusion. Extrusion was performed using a twin-screw extruder at 140℃ die temperature, 200 rpm screw speed, and 16% feed moisture content. The physical properties of psyllium husk extrudates including expansion ratio, specific length, piece density, texture profile, color properties, water soluble index, and water absorption index were evaluated. It was observed that the expansion ratio was the highest while the specific length and piece density were the lowest in the control which had no emulsifiers. Texture profile analysis showed that the apparent elastic modulus and breaking strength were highest in the extrudate with a PGE of 0.1%. The adhesiveness was found to be lowest in the extrudates with an SE of 0.1% and GMS of 0.5%. Lightness value was highest in the extrudate with a PGE of 0.1%. Color difference, water soluble index, and water absorption index were highest in the control. The results reveal that some physical properties of extruded psyllium husk were improved with the addition of emulsifiers. This finding provides useful information for the development of psyllium snacks with good physical characteristics.

A Evaluation of Emergency Braking Performance for Electro Mechanical Brake using Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (매입형 영구자석 동기전동기를 적용한 전기기계식 제동장치의 비상제동 성능평가)

  • This study examined the clamping force control method and the braking performance test results of an electromechanical brake (EMB) using braking test equipment. Most of the studies related to EMBs have been carried out in the automotive field, dealing mainly with the static test results for various control methods. On the other hand, this study performed a dynamic performance evaluation. The three-phase interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) was applied to drive the actuator of the EMB, and the analysis was verified by JMAG(Ver. 18.0), which is finite element method (FEM) software. The current control, speed control, and position control were used for clamping force control of the EMB, and the maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control was applied to the current controller for efficient control. The EMB's emergency braking deceleration performance was tested in the same way as conventional pneumatic brake systems when the wheel of a train rotates at 110 km/h, 230 km/h, and 300 km/h. The emergency braking time, with the wheel stopped completely at the maximum rotational speed, was approximately 73 seconds. The similarity of the braking time and deceleration pattern was verified through a comparison with the performance test results of the pneumatic brake system applied to the next generation high-speed railway vehicle (HEMU-430X).

Effectiveness and Characteristics Analysis of Inertia Driving on Fuel-Cut Zones in Urban Highway (도시부도로 연료차단구역의 관성주행 특성 및 효과분석)

  • In this study, the effects of inertial driving on a fuel-cut zone were analyzed by measuring the instantaneous variations of fuel consumption and speed. Thirteen sites with 2-8% downhill slopes were selected for the vehicle experiments. The vehicles were driven on the sites in two different driving modes, and the various vehicle states were measured using OBD under driving. For the analysis of the effects of inertial driving, the characteristics of fuel consumption, speed, and rpm were compared between normal and inertial driving. As a result, the fuel consumption was reduced from 24% to 78% according to the downhill grade. The amount of fuel consumption reduction was about 30cc for driving 500m downhill. Fuel cost savings amounting to 35 billion won can be achieved if inertial driving will be done in the case of Munemi-ro3. It is also believed that the reduced fuel consumption and vehicle speed through inertial driving will have considerable environmental and safety benefits.

  • A dynamic analysis procedure is developed to provide a better estimation of the dynamic responses of bridge during the passage of high speed railway vehicles. Particularly, a three dimensional numerical model including the structural interaction between high speed vehicles, bridges and railway endures to analyse accurately and evaluate with in-depth parametric studies for dynamic responses of various bridge span lengths running KTX railway locomotive up to increasing maximum speed(450km/h). Three dimensional frame element is used to model the simply supported pre-stressed concrete (PSC) box bridges for four span lengths(40~25m). Track irregularity employed as a stationary random process from the given spectral density functions and irregularities of both sides of the track are assumed to have high correlation. The high-speed railway vehicle (KTX) is used as 38-degree of freedom system. Three displacements (Vertical, lateral, and longitudinal) as well as three rotational components (Pitching, rolling, and yawing) are considered in the 38-degree of freedom model. The dynamic amplification factors are evaluated by the developed procedure under various traveling conditions, such as track irregularity camber, train speed and ballast. The dynamic analysis such as Newmark-${\beta}$ and Runge-Kutta methods which are able to analyse considering the dynamic impact factors are compared and contrasted.

Development of Prediction Model for Capsaicinoids Content in Red-Pepper Powder Using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy - Particle Size Effect (근적외선 스펙트럼을 이용한 고춧가루의 캡사이신 함량 예측 모델 개발 - 입자의 영향)

  • In this research, the near-infrared absorption from 1,100-2,300 nm was used to measure the content of capsaicinoids in the red-pepper powder by using the Acousto-optic tunable filters (AOTF) spectrometer with sample plate and sample rotating unit. Non-spicy red-pepper samples from one location (Younggwang-gun. Korea) were mixed with spicy one (var. Chungyang) to make samples separated by particle size (below 0.425 mm, 0.425-0.71 mm, and 0.71- 1.4 mm). The Partial Least Squares Regression (PLSR) model to predict the capsaicinoid content on particle sizes was developed with measured spectra by AOTF spectrometer and used to analyze the amount of capsaicinoids by HPLC. The PLSR Model of red-pepper powder of below 0.425 mm, 0.425-0.71 mm, and 0.71-1.4 mm with cross validation had ${R_V}^2$ = 0.948-0.979 and Standard Error of Prediction (SEP) = 6.56-7.94 mg%. The prediction error of smaller particle size of red-pepper powder was low. The best PLSR model was found in pretreatment of Range Normalization, Standard Normal Variate, and 1st Derivatives of red-pepper powder of below 1.4 mm with cross validation, having ${R_V}^2$ = 0.959 and SEP = 8.82 mg%.

  • In order to increase the use of electric vehicles (EVs) and minimize grid strain, microgrid using renewable energy must take an important role. Microgrid may use fossil fuels such as small diesel power, but in many cases, they can be supplied with energy from renewable energy, which is an eco-friendly energy source. However, renewable energy such as solar and wind power have variable output characteristics. Therefore, in order to meet the charging and discharging energy demands of electric vehicles and at the same time supply load power stably, it is necessary to review the configuration of electric vehicle charging infrastructure that utilizes diesel power or electric vehicle-to-grid (V2G) as a parallel energy source in the microgrid. Against this background, this study modelized a microgrid that can stably supply power to loads using solar power, wind power, diesel power, and V2G. The proposed microgrid uses solar power and wind power generation as the primary supply energy source to respond to power demand, and determines the operation type of the load's electric vehicles and the rotation speed of the load synchronous machine to provide stable power from diesel power for insufficient generations. In order to verify the system performance of the proposed model, we studied the stable operation plan of the microgrid by simulating it with MATLAB /Simulink.
