Development of Screw-Type Handy Earth Auger for an Improved Digging Efficiency(I) - Design and Manufacture - (토양굴취력이 향상된 스크류형 경량 식혈기 개발(I) - 설계 및 제작 -)

  • This study was conducted to develop a handy earth auger for use in sloppy and rugged forest terrains in order to reduce labor cost which comprises a major part of the production costs in forest afforestation projects. The first prototype is developed consist of two parts, the soil-digging screw and the battery power source. The specifications of the first prototype screw are: length of 170mm, a top diameter of 60mm, bottom diameter of 47mm, 23° angle for each helix, and a 50mm awl-head tip. The use of a single line of screw was selected for reduced weight. In addition, a power source of rotary DC Motor(WD-6G2425, WONILL, Korea) with a maximum torque of 30kgf-cm, rotation of 20-30rpm, K6G30C decelerator with a reduction ratio of 30:1 which could be used with no load for 48 was operated. In consideration of its weight, a lithium battery was utilized in line with the goal of developing a lightweight auger. In order to evaluate the performance of the first prototype, test sites were selected as 6 areas. The rotational force was found to be highest in area A(Solid area), followed by areas F(Mounted slope 40° area) and E(Mounted slope 30° area). It was also observed that in general, the rotational force increased along with the increase in soil depth with the maximum rotational force recorded at 10cm.

  • 단상유도전동기로 사용되는 커패시터 기동방식이나, 커패시터 구동-기동방식의 단상유도전동기는 전동기가 기동된 후 원심력스위치를 이용해서 기동용 커패시터를 개방하거나, 액체냉매 사용장소 등에서는 전류릴레이를 이용해서 이들을 개방한다. 본 연구에서는 원심력스위치나 전류릴레이 대신 회전자 전류에 의한 자속에 의해 기동권선에 나타나는 전압을 검출하는 릴레이를 기동권선에 연결하여, 회전속도에 비례하는 기동권선 전압으로 릴레이 코일을 여자하여, 릴레이 접접이 기동 권선을 개방하는 방법을 적용한다. 이 기동방법은 전동기 축에 연결하는 원심력스위치나 전류릴레이에 비해 전동기의 크기를 줄이고, 릴레이를 별도로 설치 가능하여 방폭형전동기 제작에도 보다 효율적인 방법을 제공한다.

Removal torque of sandblasted large grit, acid etched treated mini-implant (Sandblasted large grit, acid etched 표면처리에 따른 교정용 미니 임플랜트의 제거회전력에 관한 연구)

  • Objective: The purposes of this study were to evaluate the differences between sand blasted, large grit and acid-etched (SLA) treated mini-implants and smooth surface orthodontic mini-implants in relation to the removal torque as well as the histologic analysis. Methods: Custom-made, screw-shaped, titanium implants with a length of 9.5 mm and an outer diameter of 1.8 mm were divided into 2 groups; the SLA group (20 SLA treated orthodontic mini-implants) and the smooth surface group (20 smooth surface mini-implants), and placed In the tibia metaphysis of 10 rabbits. Each rabbit had 4 mini-implants placed, 2 in each tibia. The right tibia were implanted with the SLA group mini-implants and the left tibia had the smooth group mini-implants placed. Each mini-implant group were immediately applied with a continuous traction force of 150 g using a Ni-Ti coil spring. The rabbits were sacrificed 6 weeks post-surgically. Subsequently, the legs were stabilized, the Ni-Ti coil springs were removed and the mini-implants were removed under reverse torque rotation with a digital torque gauge. Results: 6 weeks after placement, the SIA group presented a higher mean removal torque value (8.29 Ncm) than the smooth group (3.34 Ncm) and histologic analysis revealed a higher new bone formation aspect along the screw in the SLA group. Conclusion: Results of this study indicates that SLA treated mini-implants may endure higher orthodontic forces without loosening.

A Study of Operating Forces on a Partially Admitted Turbine Blade (부분분사에 의한 터빈익형에서의 작동력 변화에 관한 연구)

  • An experimental study has been conducted to analyze the operating forces on a partially admitted turbine blade using a linear cascade apparatus. Axial-type blades were used and the blade chord was 200mm. The rectangular nozzle was applied and its size was $200mm{\times}200mm$. The experiment was done at $3{\times}10^5$ of Reynolds number based on the chord. The rotational force and axial force on the blade were measured at steady state by moving the blade to the rotational direction. The operating forces were measured at three different nozzle install angles of $58^{\circ}$, $65^{\circ}$ and $72^{\circ}$ for off-design performance test. In addition, three different solidities of 1.25, 1.38 and 1.67 were applied. From the results, the maximum rotational force was increased when the solidity was decreased and the nozzle install angle was decreased. The axial force was increased by decreasing the nozzle install angle. The reverse axial force was obtained in the partially admitted region when the nozzle install angle was increased to $72^{\circ}$.

A Study on the Outside Rotor Type Induction Motor (외측회전형 유도전동기에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a developed outside rotor type induction motor for the fan. Nearly all of the induction motors consist of two parts, rotor and stator, and the position of rotor is generally inside of stator. However, the rotor of the developed induction motor is located outside of stator. It is believed that the outside rotor type induction motor is suitable for the fan due to its large inertia, that is, it is considered that the change of air flow rate resulting from input power or load fluctuation is reduced. In this paper, the two tests which are suitable to obtain the electrical parameters of the outside rotor type induction motor were described, then various parameters of outside rotor type induction motor were measured. These are the locked rotor test and no load test. By using these tests, it was possible to determine the parameters which are presented in the steady-state equivalent-circuit of the outside rotor type induction motor. Load test of induction motor was carried out using a dynamometer and the torque-speed curve was obtained. It is believed that the results of this paper can be used for the development of the outside rotor type induction motor.

  • In the case of the railway bridges, uplift forces were occurred at the edge of the segments when vehicular loads were applied. These forces caused the compressive and tensile forces in the fastening system. In the past, a structural analysis has been performed to investigate the safety of fastening system which was modeled with one directional spring elements based on the compressive test of fastening system. In this case, the stiffness of the spring element was obtained from experimental study which was conducted by compressive load. Therefore, to perform rational and exact structural analysis, the translational stiffness of the fastening system obtained from the experimental study applied the tensile load and the rotational stiffness should be considered because it was occurred the tensile force as well as the compressive force in fastening system. In this study, an elastic and inelastic experimental study was performed for six specimens. The translational stiffness along the vertical axis of rail and the rotational stiffness along the strong axis of rail were investigated, also structural behavior of the fastening system was analyzed.

  • 환형수조는 점착성 퇴적물의 침/퇴적실험을 위한 실험장치로서, 수조내부의 수면과 접하여 회전하는 상부링(top ring)의 마찰력에 의해 흐름이 생성되며, 시간의 제약없이 흐름조건을 동일하게 만들 수 있다는 큰 장점을 갖는다. 그러나 환형수조는 원주유속의 속도차이 및 원심력으로 인한 2차 순환류가 형성되어 바닥전단응력이 불균일해지는 단점을 가지고 있으며, 이러한 이유로 인하여 환형수조를 이용한 침/퇴적실험 수행시 수조의 외벽부근에서 더 큰 침식이 발생한다. 따라서, 2차 순환류의 발생을 줄이고 바닥전단응력의 분포를 균등하게 하기 위해 양방향 회전(환형수조의 몸체를 상부링의 회전방향과 반대방향으로 회전)이 가능한 환형수조가 고안되었는데, 이러한 방법으로 2차 순환류의 크기를 저감시키고, 바닥전단응력을 균일하게 만들 수 있다. 한편, 환형수조의 양방향 회전(counter-rotation)은 현장용 환형수조에는 적용될 수 없는 단점을 갖는다. 현장실험에서는 바닥면이 없는 현장용 환형수조를 해저면에 거치시켜 자연상태의 비교란 퇴적물 시료를 저면으로 형성시키는데, 바닥면이 존재하지 않는 환형수조 본체는 회전시킬 수 없으므로 양방향 회전을 통한 2차 순환류의 저감 및 바닥전단응력 균일화의 효과를 기대할 수 없다. 이러한 이유로 환형수조의 양방향 회전은 단지 실내실험용 환형수조에만 적용된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 환형수조 본체를 회전시키지 않고 수조의 측벽과 상부링의 각도 조절을 통해 수조단면의 형상을 변화시켜 2차 순환류를 저감시키고 바닥전단응력을 균등하게 하는 방법에 대한 연구가 수행되었다. 이 방법은 본체의 회전이 필요 없으므로 현장용 환형수조에 적용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 실험장치의 구조가 단순해져 실험장치의 제작비가 절감될 수 있다. 또한 원주속도에 수직한 단면에서 속도구배가 감소되어 2차 순환류가 저감됨과 동시에 바닥전단응력이 균등하게 됨으로서 양방향 회전시와 동일한 효과가 얻어질 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

  • 자기 베어링 시스템은 축과 베어링간의 자기적 힘을 이용하여 축을 비접촉으로 지지함으로써 고속으로 회전하는 회전체의 마찰손을 저감시킨다. 고속 회전체에 편심(Eccentricity)이 있을 경우 편심 질량으로 인한 원심력이 속도의 제곱에 비례하여 발생하게 되고, 축을 지지하고 있는 베어링에 과도한 진동을 유발하게 된다. 베어링에 전해지는 진동이 커지게 되면 진동 자체도 문제일 뿐 아니라 베어링이 부담해야 하는 힘의 크기가 커지게 되어 자기 베어링 및 이를 구동하는 전력전자 기기의 용량을 증가시켜야 하는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 베어링의 지지력을 능동적으로 제어하는 능동 자기 베어링을 사용하여 축의 편심 질량의 크기 및 편심 위치를 파악하고 회전 관성 중심점으로 축을 회전시킴으로써 회전 진동을 저감하는 방법을 제안하고, 실험 결과로써 제안된 방법의 타당성을 검증한다.

Study of Factor Causing Wear of a Barrel Cam in a Paper-Cup-Forming Machine by Using Multibody Dynamics Model (다물체 동역학 모델을 이용한 종이컵 성형기용 배럴캠의 마모 인자에 관한 연구)

  • The barrel cam, which is a type of cylindrical cam, has been widely used as a part of index drive units for automatic manufacturing machines. The axis of rotation of the barrel cam is orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the follower. The index drive rotates or dwells depending on the cam profile, while the cam rotates with a constant velocity. Continuous sliding contact between the barrel cam and the follower surfaces causes wearing of the adhesive between them. This study shows that the contact force between two sliding bodies is responsible for the wear of the barrel cam in the paper-cup-forming machine. This contact force is calculated by using the multibody dynamics model of the paper-cup-forming machine. The analytical result is validated by comparing it to the actual wear spots on the real product.

  • Korea High-speed Railway (HSR-350x) was developed by Korean government, several institutes, and related companies. HSR-350x was investigated its performance and tested at the high speed line. In 2004 December, HSR-350x was run over 350km/h and proved its running performance. And Korean Train Express (KTX) served the commercial traffic for 4 years. These high speed railways have 12 motors to transfer the traction effort or the braking force. To obtain the load of the transfer shaft, it is necessary to measure the transferred torque of the shaft. In this paper, authors propose the construction the measurement system fur monitoring the force transferred to the train from the motor The system was installed to the tripod shaft which is located between the reduction gears and it measures the mechanical load directly.
