Analysis of relationship between hip internal rotation angle and the level of herniation of lumbar intervertebral disc(HIVD) in single-segment (고관절 내회전 각도와 단분절 요추 추간판 탈출증 발생 부위의 상관성 분석)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between hip internal rotation angle and the level of herniation of lumbar intervertebral disc(HIVD) in single-segment. Methods : We investigated 314 patients (158 male, 156 female) who were diagnosed as herniation of lumbar intervertebral disc(HIVD) in single-segment. We measured 314 patients' hip internal rotation angle and analysed the relationship between the hip internal rotation angle and the level of herniation of lumbar intervertebral disc(HIVD). Results : 1. Among 314 cases, the hip internal rotation angle was different between male and female. Hip internal rotation angle of male was mainly limited and that of female was mainly excessive. 2. Among 314 cases, the normal group, defined as patients who have specific range of hip internal rotation angle(male : $35^{\circ}{\pm}10^{\circ}$, female : $45^{\circ}{\pm}10^{\circ}$), tends to be occurred HIVD at L4/5 level. The limited group, defined as patients who have less angle than normal group, the excessive group, defined as patients who have more angle than normal group, and the complex group, defined as patients who have more angle of one leg and less angle of the other leg than normal group, tend to be occurred HIVD at L5/S1 level(p<0.05). Conclusions : In single-segment lumbar HIVD patients, The normal hip internal rotation angle mainly leads to L4/5 HIVD, while the limited and excessive hip internal rotation angle mainly lead to L5/S1 HIVD.

  • Biomechanical analysis of arm motion during steering was performed using a motion analysis technique. Three-dimensional position data for each part of arm are fed into an interactive model combining a musculoskeletal arm model and the mechanical steering system to calculate joint angles and torques using inverse kinematic and dynamic analyses, respectively. The analysis shows that elbow pronation/supination, wrist flexion/extension, shoulder adduction/abduction, and shoulder flexion/extension have significant magnitudes. Sensitivity analysis of the arm joint motion with respect to seating posture and steering wheel configuration is carried out to investigate the qualitative influence of the seating posture and driver's seat configuration on the steering behavior.

  • In the paper, we propose an intelligent automatic parking assist system. To realize an automatic parking, first, the prospective parking position and the location of a vehicle should be recognized. Second, the system should compute a path which introduces the parking position precisely with avoiding any obstacles. Third, the handle should be controlled so that the vehicle moves through the path. To calculate the location of the vehicle and its surroundings, the system applies the camera image method to transforming input images to the plane map. It also uses the inertial navigation method which recognizes the position and the direction of a moving vehicle by using a kinematic model of the vehicle. To generate a path of the vehicle, the simple path method and the Bezier spline method are tested. The divided arc method which generates multiple paths is also tested. We apply a method which makes the system choose the best path with multiple objective functions. We introduce the virtual road method, as a solution for the problem of mechanical time delay, to have the vehicle followed the designated path.

  • The o/w emulsions were prepared by lysolecithin as a biosurfactantsto to emulsify oils with squalane(SQ), liquid paraffin(LP), octylpalmitate(OP), octylstearate(OS), alkyl benzoate(AB), isostearyl benzoate(ISB). The droplets size and shape of o/w emulsions were investigated by laser light scattering, With dynamic light scattering hydrodynamic radius(Rh) of emulsion droplets was varied from 150m to 250m and critical concentration of oil In which the hydrodynamic radius(Rh) of emulsion droplets decreased and increased was found in the point of 0.5wt% oil concentration, and it was found increasing the polarity of oil deccreased the droplets, the droplets size of SQ(polar oil) were lower than SQ(nonpolar oil) With static light scattering radius of gyration(R$_{g}$) of emulusion droplets was to be calculated. From measurements of the ratio of R$_{g}$R$_{h}$ it was found that the shape of droplet of ISB, AB(polar oils) were sphere, for OP, OS(apolar oil) were oblate, for LP, SQ(nonpolar oil) were rod. The viscosity of emulsion in the form of rod was higher than that of emulsion in the form of sphere.e.e.

Polyperiodic-hole-array Plasmonic Color Filter for Minimizing the Effect of Angle of Incidence (입사광각의 영향을 최소화한 다결정 주기 구멍 배열 플라즈모닉 컬러 필터의 설계)

  • In this paper we propose a plasmonic color filter with a novel nanopattern. The suggested pattern, called a "polyperiodic hole array" (PPHA), is introduced to solve the angle dependence of the optical response that originates from the periodic structure. We set the diameter and period of the hole to make a green color filter, and set the unit-cell size and metal and dielectric thicknesses in consideration of the propagation length and skin depth. The periodic hole arrays are locally rotated to make a PPHA pattern, resulting in a globally aperiodic yet partially periodic pattern. As a result, compared to a general pattern, the PPHA nanostructured color filter has a maximum 40% improvement in spectral shift when the angle of incidence is increased from 0° to 30°. Transmittance reduction was also alleviated by 30%. This work will improve the performance of nanostructured color filters and help with nanotechnology being applied industrially to imaging devices, including displays and image sensors.

  • A Series of meta and para-substituted phenyl N-methylcarbamate derivatives were synthesized and influence of substituents(X) on the molecular orbital(MO) quantities of carbonyl group, carbamylation reaction center, and insecticidal activities($pI_50$) were discussed quantitatively. From these findings, the most stable streo conformer(Z) shows that the planer phenyl group occupies vertical(${\theta}=90^{\circ}$) position on the plane of the N-methylcarbamyl group. The carbamylation mechanism was proposed that the carbamylation process of acetylcholinesterase(ACh.E) by m-methyl substituted phenyl N-methylcarbamate derivatives proceeds via hyperconjugation of m-methyl group and carbonyl oxygene protonation, theromodynamically control reaction with acidic site of ACh.E.

A Systematic Review on Rehabilitation Research for Improving the Range of Motion of Shoulder Joint Motion in Patients with Breast Cancer Resection (유방암 절제술 환자의 어깨 관절가동범위 증진을 위한 재활 연구에 관한 체계적 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the types and effects of rehabilitation by systematically examining the rehabilitation research for improving the shoulder ROM in breast cancer resection patients. For a systematic review, a total of 8 studies were finally selected through three databases including RISS. As a result of this study, the level of qualitative was 4 studies(50.0%) in level III, and the rehabilitation period varied from 4 weeks to 12 weeks. As for the type of rehabilitation, 3 studies(37.5%) were occupational therapy and physical therapy. The ROM of the shoulder joint was 7 studies(87.5%) of flexion, extension, and external rotation. A goniometer was used in 8 studies(100.0%) to evaluate the ROM of the joint as a measuring tool. This study is expected to provide basic data in the field of convergence when developing and applying interventional protocols for patients with limited ROM due to breast cancer resection.

Core-loss Reduction on Permanent Magnet for IPMSM with Concentrated Winding (집중권을 시행한 영구자석 매입형 동기전동기의 철손 저감)

  • Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous motors (IPMSM) with concentrated winding are superior to distributed winding in the power density point of view. But it causes huge amount of eddy current losses on the permanent magnet. This paper presents the optimal permanent magnet V-shape on the rotor of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor to reduce the core losses and improve the performance. Each eddy current loss on permanent magnet has been investigated in detail by using FEM (Finite Element Method) instead of equivalent magnetic circuit network method in order to consider saturation and non-linear magnetic property. Simulation-based design of experiment is also applied to avoid large number of analyses according to each design parameter and consider expected interactions among parameters. Consequently, the optimal design to reduce the core loss on the permanent magnet while maintaining or improving motor performance is proposed by an optimization algorithm using regression equation derived and lastly, it is verified by FEM.

Omnidirectional Camera Motion Estimation Using Projected Contours (사영 컨투어를 이용한 전방향 카메라의 움직임 추정 방법)

  • Since the omnidirectional camera system with a very large field of view could take many information about environment scene from few images, various researches for calibration and 3D reconstruction using omnidirectional image have been presented actively. Most of line segments of man-made objects we projected to the contours by using the omnidirectional camera model. Therefore, the corresponding contours among images sequences would be useful for computing the camera transformations including rotation and translation. This paper presents a novel two step minimization method to estimate the extrinsic parameters of the camera from the corresponding contours. In the first step, coarse camera parameters are estimated by minimizing an angular error function between epipolar planes and back-projected vectors from each corresponding point. Then we can compute the final parameters minimizing a distance error of the projected contours and the actual contours. Simulation results on the synthetic and real images demonstrated that our algorithm can achieve precise contour matching and camera motion estimation.

Upper Body Tracking Using Hierarchical Sample Propagation Method and Pose Recognition (계층적 샘플 생성 방법을 이용한 상체 추적과 포즈 인식)

  • In this paper, we propose a color based hierarchically propagated particle filter that extends the color based particle filter into the articulated upper body tracking. Since color feature is robust to partial occlusion and rotation, the color based particle filter is widely used for object tracking. However, in articulated body tacking, it is not desirable to use the traditional particle filter because the dimension of the state vector usually is high and thus, many samples are required for robust hacking. To overcome this problem, we use a hierarchical tracking method for each body part based on the blown body part. By using a hierarchical tracking method, we can reduce the number of samples for robust tracking in the cluttered environment. Also for human pose recognition, we classify the human pose into eight categories using Support Vector Machine(SVM) according to the angle between upper- arm and fore-arm. Experimental results show that our proposed method is more efficient than the traditional particle filter.
