The Effect of Car-Free Pedestrian Street Policy on Urban Vibrancy Using Synthetic Control Method (통제집단합성법을 활용한 차 없는 거리 정책의 도시 활력 증진 효과 분석)

  • In line with increasing interest of climate change and pedestrian rights, the city of Seoul has been implementing car-free pedestrian street policies. The government and the private sector agreed to introduce carfree streets, expecting to increase the urban vibrancy and attract customers in the streets. However, studies that empirically analyze the effects of the policy are insufficient, and there are no studies that reevaluate the car-free pedestrian street policy after the COVID-19 outbreak. Therefore, this study evaluates the car-free pedestrian street policy at the commercial street, the Jongno 52-gil, using the synthetic control method. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the car-free pedestrian street policy was valid for enhancing urban vibrancy. Also, it was found that proper time interval is required to assess the policy since the peak increase of policy was observed in 3 months after the policy implementation. However, less than a year, the increase of the de facto population density on the Jongno 52-gil was revealed to be insignificant. In addition, the Jongno 52-gil was more vulnerable in the decrease of the de facto population density in the COVID-19 period than the synthetic control region. The results of this study suggest that long-term population inflow measures and flexible counterplan to contagious diseases are necessary in the car-free pedestrian street policy.

Comparison of Morphological and Physiological Traits of Barley Varieties Bred Different Year (육성연대가 다른 보리 품종의 형태와 생리적 특성 및 수량성 비교)

  • Two fertilizer levels were treated to the nine barley varieties developed at different years to investigate the morphological and physiological traits related to grain yields. Recently developed varieties were higher in amounts of chlorophyll and nitrogen content of leaf, root activity, root weight and specipic leaf weight as compared with older varieties. Dry matter production was closely related to NAR rather than LAI in new varieties, but indicating the reverse results in older varieties. They showed higher NAR and light transmission rate in new varieties but higher LAI in older varieties. Leaves in new varieties were distributed uniformly according to its position on clum. However, leaves in older varieties arranged irregularly showing more distribution at the upper and middle positions on culm. The factors which showed high correlations with grain yield were chlorophyll content, root activity, NAR, and nitrogen content of leaf of which stepwise multiple regression with grain yield indicated that 90% of total variance was occupied by chlorophyll content, root activity and dry matter.

  • 산업은 흔히 생명체처럼 일종의 라이프사이클을 따르는 것으로 여겨지고 있다. 이들은 태어나서, 젊고 활력 넘치는 성장기를 거쳐, 투자기, 발전기의 과정으로 나아가며 일정한 지점에 이르게 되면 성숙과 힘을 성취한다 이 지점에 서 기술개발속도는 떨어지며, 발전 중이거나 새로이 산업화한 경제 속에서 다음 세대가 탄생한다. 이 새로운 세대가 낮은 코스트를 기반으로 힘을 성취해가게 됨에 따라, 초창기의 생산 기반에 자리잡은 구세대의 활력과 경쟁력은 점차 약화된다. 그리하면 구세대는 결실을 맺고 지루한 종반전(end-game)인 쇠 퇴기에 접어든다. 이러한 탄생, 쇠퇴 그리고 훨씬 낮은 코스트를 기반으로 하는 경제로의 이 전이라는 라이프사이클은 일부 중공업에서는 쉽게 관찰되지만. 그밖의 다른 산업분야에서는 명확하지 않다. 조선업의 경우는 어떠한가. 선진 조선국의 조선 업이 성숙기에서 그 경쟁력 유지가 가능할 것인가, 아니면 이들 산업이 일련 의 보다 낮은 코스트 지대로 옮겨가는 것이 필연적인가. 이 글에서 필자들은 전술한 라이프사이클이라는 분석틀을 사용하여 이 같은 물음과 관련된 몇 가지 문제를 살펴보고자 한다

  • 지구온난화에 따른 이상기후현상을 해결하기 위해 인공위성영상을 이용한 식생의 변화유무와 특성파악이 중요하다. 특히, 인공위성의 근적외선 영역과 가시광선 영역을 이용한 정규식생분포지수는 식생의 활력도를 파악하고 변화유무를 판단하는 지표로서 많이 사용되고 있다. 하지만, 최근 발사된 Landsat 8 OLI의 경우 정규식생분포지수에 영향을 주는 근적외선 밴드의 파장대역이 기존의 TM/ETM+ 위성의 근적외선 밴드의 파장대역보다 감소하였다. 또한 이러한 파장대역 변화에 의한 정규식생분포지수의 차이에 대해서 공식적으로 연구한 사례가 없다. 그러므로 본 연구는 Landsat 8 OLI 위성영상과 Landsat 7 ETM+ 위성영상을 식생이 활발한 여름철(9월)과 그렇지 않은 겨울철(1월)의 영상을 각각 취득하여, 식생, 도심지, 도로, 농경지, 나지의 5가지 항목으로 분류하여 각각의 정규식생분포지수를 비교해보고 상관관계분석을 시도하였다.

Synecological Characteristics and Vitality Analysis of the Berchemia berchemiaefolia Habitat (망개나무자생지의 식생특성과 활력도 분석)

  • This study was carried out to investigate vegetation and tree vitality of Berchemia berchemiaefolia habitat to recommend basic information for synecological characteristics. Totally 9 vegetation data were collected and analyzed. And one plant community (Quercus serrata-Berchemia berchemiaefolia community) including 43 families 66genera 72 species 8 varieties and 3 forma was differentiated. Quercus serrata-Berchemia berchemiaefolia community was subdivided into Typical subunit and Quercus mongolica subunit. Species showing the higer r-NCD value in the plant community were Berchemia berchemiaefolia, Quercus serrata, Lindera obtusiloba, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, Corylus heterophylla var. thunbergii. In tree vitality result, Berchemia berchemiaefolia population containing 35 individual was estimated 3 monitoring categories; 1) General 2) Principal 3) Absolute. These categories frequencies arranged by the order General Monitoring (85.7%; 30 individual), Principal Monitoring (11.4%; 4 individual) and Absolute Monitoring (2.9%; 1 individual).

In vitro germination of Gastrodia verrucosa Blume and Hetaeria sikokiana Tuyama treated by NaOCl (NaOCl 처리에 의한 한라천마(Gastrodia verrucosa Blume)와 애기천마(Hetaeria sikokiana Tuyama)의 기내발아)

  • An optimization in vitro seed germination was established by using triphenol tetrazolium chloride (TTC) test, which has been known as two rare orchids (Gastrodia verrucosa Blume and Hetaeria sikokiana Tuyama) in Jeju island. We have established proper NaOCl treatment for in vitro germination of G. verrucosa and H. sikokiana through TTC test. In the case of H. sikokiana, seed viability through TTC test was high with 95% in control. However, NaOCl 1% treatment for 30 minutes showed the highest embryo swelling rate to seed viability. Likewise, swelling formation of embryos, diameter of embryos, protocorm formation and diameter of protocorms of G. verrucosa was 87%, $59{\mu}m$, 91% and $138{\mu}m$ through NaOCl 1% treatment for 30 minutes. This result will be applied on the basic information for improving in vitro seed germination rate of G. verrucosa and H. sikokiana.

Desiccation Tolerance and Storage Behavior of Sarcandra glabra Seeds for Use in ex-situ Conservation (현지외 보존을 위한 죽절초 종자의 건조 내성과 저장성 평가)

  • This study sought to determine the desiccation tolerance and storage behavior of Sarcandra glabra seeds to assist in the establishment of an ex-situ conservation strategy for the species. The basic germination characteristics of S. glabra seeds were investigated. Subsequently, the seeds were dried to various desiccation levels to allow for analysis of their germination characteristics and seed integrity. In addition, the seeds were subjected to germination tests after being stored for different durations. The initial seed moisture content following the removal of the fleshy fruit was 32.8%, and the fresh seeds maintained their seed viability even after a decrease in the seed moisture content to 4.8%, while the germination percentage was 81.0%. The germination percentage of the seeds decreased to 55.0% and 30.0% when they were desiccated to moisture contents of 2.3% and 2.2%, respectively. By contrast, when the stored seeds were desiccated, they maintained their seed viability and vigor at a moisture content of 18.6%; however, when the moisture content decreased below 5.0%, both the seed viability and vigor significantly declined and the germination percentage fell below 20.0%. Furthermore, analysis of the seed leachate revealed that the decrease in the seed viability and vigor was associated with both increased electrical conductivity and increased concentrations of inorganic compounds such as potassium and calcium. In conclusion, the findings of this study show S. glabra seeds to possess desiccation tolerance that falls somewhere between the recalcitrant and intermediate seed types, with the observed variations depending on the degree of deterioration.

Ecological Buffer Analysis of Western DMZ and Vicinity using Logistic Function Derived from TVI-Distance Curve (TVI-거리함수를 이용한 서부 DMZ 및 민통지역의 생태적 보전폭원 조사)

  • The DMZ is a 248km long thin green line which has various landscapes of fields, hills and mountains. This study focused on western part of DMZ and vicinity which consist of abandoned rice paddy, wetlands and fields. The main purpose of this study is to detect the vegetation vitality from the western part of MDL to DMZ vicinity and identify and quantify ecological buffer(ecotone) width adopting logistic function derived from 'Vegetation Index-distance curve' using an Landsat ETM+ image acquired on June of 2002. Green leaf vegetation was quantified to identify the ecotone buffer in western DMZ and vicinity(civilian control area: CCA) using Transformed Vegetation Index(TVI) which is one of common measurement among various indices. Vegetation measurement from Military Demarcation Line(MDL) to vicinity area was investigated at 500m intervals to 10kms of southern and northern part of western DMZ and vicinity. The Logistic function models the sigmoid curve of growth with three stages of growth of initial competition and maturity. In the TVI-distance logistic curve, the maturity is high vegetation vitality, the competition is vitality changing, and the initial is low vitality. In the TVI-distance curve, maturity area of high TVI value is core area for ecological conservation, and the competition area between inflection points can be an ecotone(ecological buffer). In case of southern part, maximum TVI value is 221.92 and minimum is 207.16, and maximum TVI of northen part is 215.32 and minimum is 188.35. That means forest devastation of north Korean part of DMZ and vicinity is severer than that of south Korea. The width of core area for ecological conservation is 2,311m, and ecotone in the southern part is 5,339m, so minimum width from MDL for ecological conservation can be computed as 7,651m. In case of Northern part, the width of core area is 1,841m, and ecotone buffer is 5,014m, so ecological conservation width can be estimated as 6,855m. In case of northen part, width of estimated core area is less than that of DMZ width, which means ecological disturbance is very severe in northern part of western DMZ.

  • 찻길에서 사람길로 변신한 서울로 7017은 단순히 변화에 그치는 것이 아니라 세로운 활력을 불어넣기 위해 시작되었다. 서울로는 서울로 자체로만 끝나는 것이 아니라 공간과 공간의 연결을 목적으로 하고 있다. 즉, 주변상권의 재생을 염두에 두고 프로젝트를 계획했다는 것이다. 현재의 서울로는 스스로만 거대하게 존재 할 뿐 주변의 상권들을 연결시켜주지 못한고 있다. 서울로의 시설물과 주변 상권을 분석하여 연계강화를 위해 어떤 논의가 필요한지 알아보고자 한다.
