Convergence Factors Affecting Critical Thinking Disposition, Clinical Decision Making Ability, Patient Safety Knowledge and Attitude to Perform Safety Nursing Activities in Clinical Practice on Nursing Students (간호대학생의 비판적 사고성향과 임상의사결정능력 및 환자안전 지식, 태도가 임상실습 시 환자안전 수행능력에 미치는 융복합적 영향요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of critical thinking, clinical decision making ability, patient safety knowledge and attitude ability to perform patient safety activities during clinical practice on nursing student's. Data were analyzed using t-tests and one-way ANOVA using the SPSS 21.0 program. As a result, the subjects' safety nursing activities was positively correlated critical thinking disposition(r=.278, p=.001), clinical decision making ability(r=.202, p=.014), patient safety attitude(r=.421, p<.001).The significant predictors of perform safety nursing activities were gender(${\beta}=.175$, p=.031), patient safety education(${\beta}=-2.266$, p=.025), critical thinking disposition(${\beta}=3.354$, p=.001), patient safety attitude(${\beta}=.368$, p<.001). These factors explained 31.5% of the variance(R2=.561, F=4.56 p<.001). It is necessary to establish a curriculum for critical thinking disposition, clinical decision making ability, and patient safety education in order to improve patient safety performance necessary for clinical practice education of nursing college students.

The Factors Affecting Self-Confidence in Performing Patient Safety Management Nursing students (간호대학생의 환자안전관리 수행자신감에 미치는 영향요인)

  • This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the self-confidence in performing patient safety management in nursing students. As a result of the analysis, 7.0 points in knowledge of patient safety management, 3.86 points in attitude of patient safety management, 3.47 points in clinical decision making ability, and 4.15 points in self-confidence in performing patient safety management. Self-confidence in performing patient safety management was positively correlated with knowledge of patient safety management(r=.216, p<.01) and attitude of patient safety management(r=.375, p<.01), clinical decision making ability(r=.467, p<.01). The self-confidence in performing patient safety management was influenced by clinical decision making ability(β=.409, p<.001) and attitude of patient safety management(β=.198, p=.011), explanatory power was 26.3%.

Factors Influencing Confidence in Patient Safety Management in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 환자안전관리 수행자신감에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The purposed of this study was to identify the factors that affect Confidence in Performance Patient Safety Management targeted nursing students. The study subjects were 228 nursing students. The nursing students experienced patientl safety accidents in the fall (50.0%), needle puncture (18.5%), Patient identification error (12.0%), injection medication error (7.5%) and oral medication errors (4.3%). In the logistic regression analysis, Attitude of Patient Safety Management(t=6.09, p<.001), Clinical Decision Making(t=3.97, p<.001) and gender(t=2.56, p=.011) were significant factors related to Confidence of Performance Patient Safety Management. Based on the results of this study, we propose to develop a convergence education program that considers patient safety management attitude, clinical decision making ability, and gender in order to improve confidence of performance patient safety management of nursing students.

Investigate the Factors that Affect the Safety Performance Ability of Patients by Caregivers (노인요양시설 요양보호사의 환자안전관리에 대한 안전수행능력)

  • The purpose of this research is to confirm the degree of awareness, knowledge and attitude for the safety management of patients in elderly care facilities, to investigate the factors that affect the safety performance of patients by nursing caregivers, and to provide basic material for the development of educational programs for strengthening performance. The research target audience was 142 nursing caregivers working in the G metropolitan city and S city elderly care facilities, and the data collected from 7/10/2020 to 7/28/2020, were analyzed with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The ability of a nursing caregiver to perform patient safety is increasing as a result of higher education, higher patient safety awareness, and also more positive attitude towards patient safety. The major factors that affect the safety performance of patients by nursing caregivers were attitude toward patient safety, patient safety awareness, and the amount of participation in patient safety education. It's explanatory power was 26.9%. Based on the results of this research, we propose a study to confirm the positive effects of patient safety consciousness and attitude by confirming the education program completed by nursing caregivers and systematizing the education method and design in the education program of nursing caregivers.

Convergence Study on the Factors Influencing Confidence in Performing Patient Safety Management of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 환자안전관리 수행자신감 영향요인에 관한 융합적 연구)

  • This study was conducted to identify factors influencinging confidence in performing patient safety management (PSM) of nursing students. The subjects of this study were 230 nursing students in four universities in two cities. Data were collected between June 22 and June 26, 2020 using by completing structured self report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0. programs. In correlation analysis, significant positive correlations were found between confidence in performing PSM, PSM knowledge(r=.321, p<.001), PSM attitude(r=.584, p<.001), and clinical decision making ability(𝛽=.460, p<.001). In multiple regression analysis, PSM attitude(𝛽=.35, p=.005) and clinical decision making ability(𝛽=.23, p<.001) were factors predicting confidence in performing PSM, which explained 34.2% of the variance in the model. Therefore, we emphasize that continuing customized convergence educational programs are required to improve nursing student's confidence in performing PSM.

A Comparison of the Clinical Competence, Knowledge of Patient Safety Management and Confidence of Patient Safety Management according to Clinical Practice Experience of Nursing Students

  • The purpose of this study is to cornpare the differences in clinical competence, knowledge of patient safety management and confidence of patient safety management according to the clinical practice experience of nursing students, Of the 73 nursing students who experienced clinical practice and 35 nursing students who did not experience, a total of 108 students in the third grade were analyzed, In the results of this study, clinical competence(t=.88, p=.377) knowledge of patient safety management(t=-.29, p=.773), and confidence of patient safety management(t=1.11, p=.267) the difference between was not statistically significant in the two groups. In the two groups, the score of the sub-area according to each variable is the lowest. First, the sub-area of the nursing process a lowest score in clinical competence, and the second, the sub-area of measuring knowledge about concept of near miss was the Knowledge of patient safety management. The score was the lowest in, and thirdly, the sub-area of writing an incident report when an error occurred had the lowest score in confidence of patient safety management. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of clinical competence of nursing students, it is necessary to develop a strategic educational guideline to improve the clinical practice education environment, to improve patient safety management capabilities and to cultivate correct attitudes toward patient safety management.

A Study on Patient Safety Management Activity for Nursing Students (간호대학생의 환자안전관리활동에 관한 연구)

  • The Purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting patient safety management activity targeted nursing student and to provide basic data for patient safety in nursing education and to develop education program improving students' patient safety management activity. The participants of this study were 358 nursing students in a region and collected data by self-reported questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, stepwise multiple regression analysis. As a resutls, Significant positive correlations were found between patient safety competency, performance confidence, coping and patient safety management activity for nursing students. Patient safety competency, performance confidence were significant factors related to patient safety management activity but coping was not found to directly affect patient safety management activity. Thus, we propose to develop a education intervention program that considers patient safety competency, performance confidence in order to improve patient safety management activity of nursing students.

Impact of Nursing Students' Knowledge, Attitudes, and Performance Confidence in Patient Safety Management on Patient Safety Management Behavior (간호대학생의 환자안전관리 지식, 태도, 수행자신감이 환자안전관리 행위에 미치는 영향)

  • Despite continuous efforts by healthcare institutions and professionals, incidents threatening patient safety continue to occur. Policies related to patient safety are being strengthened, and nursing students are recognized as key personnel in patient safety management. Identifying factors influencing patient safety management behavior can enhance competency in patient safety management and prevent and improve patient safety incidents. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to clarify the impact of nursing students' knowledge, attitudes, and performance confidence related to patient safety management on their patient safety management behavior. A descriptive survey study was conducted, and data collection targeted 138 fourth-year nursing students in K region from October 25th to October 28th, 2022. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 25.0 program. The research findings showed that knowledge, attitudes, and confidence regarding patient safety management were positively correlated with patient safety management behavior. Factors influencing patient safety management behavior were identified as patient safety management education experience (β=.22, p<.001) and confidence (β=.66, p<.001). Based on these results, it is suggested that educational programs aimed at improving patient safety management behavior among nursing students should focus on enhancing patient safety management education experience and confidence.

The Effects of Nursing Students' Safety Motivation, Confidence in Performance on Behavior of Safety Management (간호대학생의 안전동기, 안전관리 수행자신감이 안전관리행위에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the safety motivation, confidence in performance, and behavior of safety management and to identify the factors affecting behavior of safety management targeted nursing students. Subjects were 127 nursing students and data were collected by questionnaires from December 1 to December 20, 2020. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis. Safety motivation was positive correlated with confidence in performance, and behavior of safety management. Confidence in performance was positive correlated with behavior of safety management. Safety motivation and confidence in performance were main factors that affects behavior of safety management. These results suggest to develop education intervention program that include safety motivation, confidence in performance in order to improve behavior of safety management of nursing students.

Knowledge and attitude of patient safety, safety performance among caregivers: In nursing home (요양보호사의 환자안전에 대한 지식, 태도 및 안전수행 정도: 노인요양시설을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate nursing home caregivers' safety knowledge, safety attitude and safety performance; then to analyze the relations between them, and to find the factors influencing the caregivers' safety performance. The study method was conducted by using SPSS WIN 21.0 program of 134 questionnaires surveyed in S city. A positive correlation was found with caregivers' safety knowledge and safety attitude. Additionally safety attitude has positive correlation with safety performance. No correlation was found between safety knowledge and safety performance. These influential factors explained their safety practice behavior 36.1%. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to establish a policy that can form a proper safety culture in the nursing home as well as repetitive training centered on practices that can affect the safety performance of caregivers.
