체류시간과 온도에 따른 VOC제거에 관한 연구

  • 휘발성 유기화합물로 오염된 가스 제거를 위한 최적 조건을 찾고자 VOC를 생물학적 처리방법 중 하나인 생물여과기를 이용하여 조사하였다. 100여일 운영 후, 25와 $45^{\circ}C$조건 보다 $32^{\circ}C$조건에서 휘발성 유기화합물의 분해력이 높게 나타났다. 생물여과기는 다양한 휘발성 유기화합물 농도와 EBRT 조건에서 약 100일간 운전되었으며, 최대 제거량 128 $g/m^{3}h$에서 113 $g/m^{3}h$ 임을 알 수 있었다. 휘발성 유기화합물은 체류시간 1~3 min에서 제거율이 30~96%까지 변화하는 것을 보여 주었다. 이상의 휘발성 유기화합물 중 일부는 심각한 환경문제를 야기시키므로 이들 휘발성 유기화합물을 완전 제거하거나 최소화시킬 수 있다면 생물여과 시스템은 안정성과 경제적 측면에서 매우 바람직하겠다. 본 연구 결과는 미생물을 이용한 생물여과법이 효과적인 처리 공정임을 보여주었고 혼합된 휘발성 유기화합물이 존재하더라도 그 성분을 동시에 분해할 수 있다는 결과를 보여 주었다.

  • The use of planning support systems in urban planning and management provides objective information that is beneficial in the decision-making stage. The existing planning support system, however, lacks in the consideration of ecological properties. In this study, a planning support system development that is capable of reflecting ecological elements was set as the ultimate goal. This system can support planning processes ranging from ecological potential anaylsis to alternatives designing and stimulation. Additionally, factors such as soil, water, climate, biotope, ecological network and recreation can be handled according to their natural potentials. The establishment and visualization of land use planning that addresses ecological characteristics based on the analyzed results are possible. Therefore, this system could operate as a framework to assist planners and decision makers through a computer-based system to provide useful ecological information and to allow effective decision-making by analyzing, displaying and visualizing ecological spatial data.

Comparative LCA of three types of Interior Panel (IP) in Electric Motor Unit (EMU) (전동차 내장패널(Interior Panel)에 대한 비교 전과정평가)

  • A comparative Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) among three types of Electric Motor Unit (EMU) Interior Panel (IP) was conducted. A functional unit for comparative LCA is a weight of IP for 1 EMU. It is assumed that Manufacturing stage and its upstream processes, Use stage and End of Life (EoL) stage are included in the boundary of product system. For Use stage, the weight of IP causes electricity consumption. It is assumed that aluminum IP is recycled and the other IPs are incinerated at the EoL stage. As a comparison results, aluminum IP has much larger environmental impact (5.162pt) than others (FRP IP; 4.069pt, Phenol IP; 4.053pt) even though recycling consideration is included. The manufacturing stage of aluminum IP has relative big environmental impact (1.824pt) and this point make the most important difference from other IPs (FRP IP; 0.1617pt, Phenol IP; 0.4534pt)). Despite of large weight difference between FRP IP (888.96kg) and phenol IP (316kg), the final environmental impact result has only little difference (0.016pt, 0.39%). With this result, the EMU designer can choose IP with a consideration of the environmental performance of IP.

Multiple Reference Frame based Error-Resilient Video Coding (다중 레프런스 프레임 기반의 에러에 강인한 동영상 부호화 기법)

  • 움직임 보상-이산 코사인 변환 (motion compensation-discrete cosine transform : MC-DCT) 기반의 동영상 부호화 기법이 부호화 효율성 및 구현의 단순성으로 인해 널리 사용되고 있으나, 에러 환경에서 구조적으로 취약한 면이 있다. 본 논문에서는 다중 메모리 움직임 보상 예측 (long-term memory motion compensated prediction : LTMP) 기반의 다중 레프런스 프레임을 사용하여 에러에 강인한 동영상 부호화 기법을 제안한다. 또한 제안하는 알고리듬에 기반한 에러 은닉 기법 (error concealment : EC)을 구현한다. 즉, R-D (rate-distortion) 최적화에 프레임간 움직임 벡터 (temporal motion vectors)의 확산 인자를 추가하여 에러에 대한 강인성 및 에러 은닉 기법의 효율성을 증가시켰다. 또한, 제안하는 알고리듬은 시간축상의 에러 전파를 피드백 정보 (negative acknowledgement : NAK)를 사용하여 억제한다. 즉, NAK는 채널 에러에 의해 손실된 영역과 에러가 전파된 영역을 추정하여 움직임 보상 영역에서 제외되도록 하는데 이용된다. 따라서, 제안하는 알고리듬은 PSNR 측면에서 FIU (forced intra update)에 근사하는 성능을 보이나, FIU와는 달리 비트율의 증가를 피할 수 있어 제한된 대역폭의 네트웍을 효율적으로 사용할 수 있다. 컴퓨터 모의 실험을 통해 제안하는 알고리듬이 기존의 H.263 및 LTMP 기반의 부호기에 비해 에러 환경에서 주관적 및 객관적 화질 측면에서 성능이 우수함을 보인다.

  • The existing geotextile reinforced soil wall methods have a demerit in terms of esthetic view because concrete panel or block are used as wall facing of the methods. If grass planting walls could be used in reinforced soil slope or wall methods, efficiency of the methods would be increased with maximization of advantage of the methods. In this study, some possible methods in which grass planting wall is used as wall facing are devised. A series of laboratory model tests were performed to investigate the behavior of newly devised methods in order to compare with the results of each others. As a major result, it was found that this kinds of grass wall facing methods could be accepted as a new construction method even in the sense of stability.

  • A proper selection of formwork greatly affects project success in tall building construction. The tall building construction, however, has not been selected properly using the characteristics by formwork and demands the comprehensive consideration of cost, duration, quality, safety, and environment. Therefore, this study compares and analyzes the application by formwork of five aspects. In order to perform an analysis, the questionnaire was performed to research the priority order of management as determining formwork and application by formwork of tall building construction engineers. This study is expected to help reasonable selection of formwork.

  • Systematic improvement of the environmental performance of industrial products is a core element of good business. Improving the overall environmental performance of products is envisaged as one of the most important strategic goals and objectives in many company policies. This paper demonstrates an Ecodesign approach to develop a product in a systematical way. The objective of this research is two-folds-describing a systematic procedure of implementing Ecodesign in a company and giving a real case example to demonstrate the application of the proposed Ecodesign methodology. The methodology was based on Wimmer et al and consists of seven steps out of the twelve steps for integrating significant environmental aspects of a product and environmental issues resulting from the stakeholder requirements into product design and development. Together with the Ecodesign team of a major domestic car manufacturer the Ecodesign of a car fuel tank unit has been chosen for the case study presented in the paper. The application of the proposed methodology to the fuel tank unit of a car indicates that practical target specifications of the fuel tank unit were derived systematically. This indicates that the seven steps approach can be a viable Ecodesign method for manufacturers to integrate environmental aspects of their products into their product design and development processes.

  • 국내 건설산업의 축소에 따라 수요가 감소하고, 외국산 시멘트의 수입량이 증가하며, 시멘트 콘크리트가 환경문제와 연관이 있다는 인식이 확산되는 등 위기에 직면해 있는 국내 시멘트 산업은 재도약을 위하여 노력하고 있다. 한국양회공업협회, 산업자원부, 건설교통부 등의 후원으로 한국콘크리트학회에서 이러한 시멘트 및 콘크리트 관련산업의 환경 및 품질과 관련한 당면과제를 극복하고, 선진외국의 사례를 참고하여 국내 시멘트, 레미콘 등 콘크리트 관련산업의 경쟁력 제고를 도모하고자 지난 2006년 11월 17일(금)에 한양대학교 백남학술정보관 국제회의실에서 "환경과 콘크리트"를 주제로 시멘트 및 콘크리트 산업 경쟁력 향상을 위한 국제 심포지엄을 개최하였다. 이번 국제 심포지엄은 최근 산업폐기물을 시멘트 제조원료로 사용하는 것과 관련, 많은 논란이 일어나고 있는 가운데, 최근 언론보도에서는 다소 간과된 지구환경 보전측면에서 시멘트 콘크리트 산업이 공헌하는 측면에 대해서 활발한 주제 발표가 있어, 많은 주목을 받았다. 먼저, 외국연사로서 초청된 미국 시멘트협회(Portland Cement Association)의 Thomas B. Carter 부회장은 시멘트 산업이 반환경적인 측면으로 비추어지는 부분을 최소화할 수 있는 다양한 방안을 제시하였고, 일본 태평양시멘트 중앙연구소의 토미타 로쿠로 소장은 일본에서의 산업폐기물 사용 현황 및 다양한 산업폐기물 재활용 기술을 소개하였다. 특히, 일본에서 생산된 시멘트 1톤에 활용되는 폐재료 및 부산물의 양이 평균 400kg에 이르고, 생활쓰레기를 사용한 Eco-Cement의 생산현황 및 지방자치단체의 협조체제 등을 볼 때, 자연환경을 훼손하는 일부 부정적인 이미지만 부각되어 환경파괴의 주범으로까지 잘못 인식되고 있는 우리 현실과 극명하게 대비되어 눈길을 끌었다. 이어서 국내 연사로 나선 군산대학교 이승헌 교수는 "최근 일각에서 제기하고 있는 시멘트중의 미량성분으로 포함돼 있는 6가 크롬에 대한 유해성 여부에 대해 문제제기 차원에서는 바람직하나 시멘트를 유해물질이라고 단정짓는 감성적인 접근보다는 좀더 다양한 실험을 통해 이의 유해성 여부를 규명짓는 것이 선결되어야 한다" 고 언급하였다. 이에 심포지 엄에서 많은 관심을 불러일으킨 토미타로쿠로 일본 태평양시멘트 연구소장의 연구논문과 이승헌 교수의 연구논문을 중심으로 심포지엄의 성과를 간략하게 소개하고 시멘트 콘크리트 관련 전문가가 참석한 종합토론을 정리, 요약 게재한다.

A Study on Relationship Between Violation of Environmental Regulations and Firm's Characteristics (기업특성과 환경규제 위반의 관계 연구)

  • The purposes of this paper are analysed the relationship between environmental regulation and financial performance in Korea. The financial performance of listed companies and Outside Auditing firms was evaluated by logistic regression. First, R&D investment is proportionally correlated with the ability to comply with environmental regulations. It can be explained increase of investment in R&D causes enhancement of compliance of environmental regulations with development of environmental technology. Second, statistical significance is not observed between financial aspects such as current ratio, debt-to-equity ratio, cash flow, and operating profit margin and the ability to comply with environmental regulations. It indicates high financial performance could not directly lead investment for the ability of that. Third, in terms of structural aspects, firm size and employees have a reliable correlation with compliance with environmental regulations due to high attention of larger firms for PR, and IR, while capital intensity and gravity, and exports do not. Finally, violation of environmental regulations is not affect by the controlling shareholder ownership.

A Comparative Study on the Economics of Reprocessing and Direct Disposal of Nuclear Spent Fuel (사용후 핵연료의 제처리와 직접 처분의 경제성 비교 연구)

  • Nuclear fuel cycle choices and costs are important in considering energy policies, fuel diversity, security of supply and associated social and environmental impacts. Particularly, the nuclear spent fuel is very important in view of high activity and the need of long term management. This study focuses on the comparison of reprocessing and direct disposal of nuclear spent fuel in terms of cost, safety and public acceptability. The results of the study show that the direct disposal is about 7% more economical than the reprocessing. In terms of safety, the results show that the risk of vitrified HLW (high-level radioactive waste) is less than directly disposed spent fuel. For the public acceptability, both of the methods are not well understood and therefore they are not accepted. In conclusion, it is necessary to guarantee the safety of the both spent fuel processing methods through continuous development of associated technology and to have a fuel cycle policy which should consider not only the economics but also social and environmental impacts.
