The wetlands have eco-sociological values because their functions have proven to be useful to human society. Many countries are working to conserve and protect the wetland ecosystems. However, many wetlands have disappeared or have been fragmented due to a natural and/or anthropogenic disturbance. These isolated wetlands appear to work best in the landscape, as a spatially distributed system. We have analyzed the spatial-social distribution patterns of wetlands in Gyeongsangnam-do Province (GNP). We examined the frequency distribution of wetland sizes, the distances to the nearest wetlands, the shapes of the wetlands, land-use patterns, land owners, and official land values were confirmed as social characteristics for each wetland. A total of 146 wetlands (3,598.85 ha), including 76 riverine wetlands (1,955.60 ha), 49 palustrine wetlands (1,282.28 ha) and 21 mountain wetlands (1,282.28 ha) were identified in GNP. Most wetlands left for use to drainage were small (<2 ha) and located in agricultural areas. However, small and isolated wetlands were clustered, according to the location, indicating that these wetlands can be connected to each other using the linear riverine wetlands and water channels in agricultural areas. This is extremely valuable in maintaining the biodiversity, such that any loss of small wetlands will cause a direct reduction in the connectedness among populations of the remaining species. Due to most wetlands belonging to the nation or businesses, being classified as reservoirs (water storage areas), and consequently, degradation of wetlands will progress due to grand-scale engineering works. Therefore, wetland policy and ecologically sensitive laws and policies should be developed in order to promote the wise-use for wetlands.

This study analyzed the present status of services by fire-suppression mobilization time of fire station where is located in Jinju city, by using network analysis of GIS targeting fire station(five 119 safety centers, one 119 division) in Jinju city area. As a result, it was indicated to be 15.9% in the ratio with less than 5 minutes of mobilization time, 34.7% in the ratio with less than 8 minutes, 94% in the ratio with less than 20 minutes out of the whole fire service area in Jinju city. Even districts with more than 20 minutes were analyzed to reach 6%. Especially, to solve vulnerability to approach the fire service in uptown districts(Jinseong, Jisu, Sabong, Ilbanseong, the whole area of Ibanseong), the 119 division is installed more to be operated. However, accessibility is still remaining in low level. Also, in case of 119 safety center of Cheonjeon, the national industrial complex and the general industrial complex are being formed on a large scale. However, analyzing the fire service level in the corresponding area, the districts with more than 8 minutes and less than 20 minutes were existing broadly. In consequence of analyzing the fire service area in Jinju city with the fire-suppression mobilization time as the above, the fire service level is failing to escape largely from the status prior to the urban-rural consolidation compared to what the jurisdictional area was largely expanded by which the administrative districts were integrated by the urban-rural consolidation in locally small-and medium-sized city. Thus, there is a need of a measure for improving this.

This study evaluates the shear performance of reinforced concrete beams with recycled coarse aggregates. A total of six specimens with various replacement ratios of recycled coarse aggregates (0%, 50%, and 100%) and different amount of shear reinforcement were cast and tested in this study. A finite element analysis was performed to predict the shear behavior of the specimens with natural or recycled coarse aggregates. The FE analysis was performed using a two-dimensional nonlinear FE analysis program based on the disturbed stress field model (DSFM), which is an extension of the modified compression field theory (MCFT). Experimental results showed that the specimens with 50% and 100% replacement ratios of recycled coarse aggregates had the similar shear strength compared to the specimen with natural aggregates, regardless of the replacement ratios of recycled coarse aggregates and the amount of the shear reinforcement. Furthermore, the comparison between experimental and analytical results showed that the proposed numerical modeling methods and the analytical model, DSFM, can be successfully used to predict the shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams with recycled coarse aggregates.

As the urbanization ratio increases, the heat environment in cities is becoming more important due to the urban heat island. In this study, the heat island spatial analysis was calculated and conducted for analysis of urban thermal environment of Sejong city, which was launched in 2012 and has been developed rapidly. To analyze the ratio and change rate of urban area, a multi temporal land cover map (2013 to 2015 and 2017) of study area is generated based on Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS (Operational Land Imager / Thermal Infrared Sensor) satellite imagery. Then, we select an TIR (Thermal Infrared) band from the two TIR bands provided by the Landsat-8, which is used for calculating the heat island potential, through the accuracy evaluation of the brightness temperature and AWS (Automatic Weathering Station) data. Based on the selected band and surface emissivity, land surface temperature is calculated and the estimated heat island potential change is analyzed. As a result, the land surface temperature of the high ratio and change rate of urban area was significantly higher than the surrounding area around $3^{\circ}C$ to $4^{\circ}C$, and the heat island potential was also higher around $4^{\circ}C$ to $5^{\circ}C$. However, the heat island phenomenon was alleviated in urban areas with high rate of change that also show high green area ratio. Therefore, we demonstrated that dense urban area increases the possibility of inducing heat island, but it can mitigate the heat island through green areas.

The necessity of predicting the spatial information of the site-specific seismic response, which is essential information for the comprehensive earthquake disaster countermeasures, is increasing for the mid-west urban areas where the earthquake-induced damages can be increased due to frequent occurrence of mid-scale earthquake such as 2016 Gyeongju Earthquake and 2017 Pohang Earthquake. Especially, researches on strategic securing of site survey datasets and understanding the site-specific site response characteristics were conducted for Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. In this study, a GIS-based framework for site-specific assessment of site response and induced vulnerable area in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea was proposed. Geo-Data based on GIS platform was constructed for regional estimation of geotechnical characteristics by collecting borehole and land coverage datasets. And the geo-spatial grid information was developed for deriving spatial distribution of geotechnical layer and site response parameters based on the optimization of the geostatistical interpolation method. Accordingly, base information for Improving earthquake preparedness measures was derived as seismic zonation map with administrative sub-units considering the quantitative site effect of Gyeonggi-do.
Ultrastructure of the ependymal cells of X-irradiated rats on their head were studied. Rats weighing $200\sim250gm$ were X-irradiated on their head and neck areas. Total exposures were 3,000 rads or 6,000 rads depending on experimental groups. And irradiated rats were sacrificed on 6 hours, 2 days and 6 days following the radiation exposures. Animals were perfused through the heart with 1% glutaraldehyde-1% paraformaldehyde solution, under ether-anesthesia. The tissues from the wall of lateral ventricles were fixed in the 2% osmium tetroxide solution. The results observed with electron microscope were as follow: 1. In 6 hours group, many ependymal cells were swelled, luminal portions of cytoplasms of some cells protruded into the ventricular lumen, and many cilia were lost or irregularly altered. 2. In 2 days group, ependymal cells were swelled more severely and subependymal edema were pronounced. 3. Protruded cytoplasm contained usually basal bodies of cilia, groups of mitochondria, endoplasmic reticula , etc. 4. Following X-irradiations, some protruded masses contained neural elements including the axon terminals with dense core vesicles. Axons and axon terminals were also found in the enlarged intercellular spaces among ependymal cells. From the above results, the heavy irradiation on the head area of the rat induced alteration of the ependymal cells lining the lateral ventricle. Hence the ependymal functions of selective barrier, protective barrier, and metabolic barrier could be altered following X-irradiation on the head.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose a direction planning integrated waterfront cultural city in terms of urban economic revitalization through regeneration of former industrial harborfront and the creation of cultural living spaces based on regional history in order to pursue urban activities. Method: Analyzing planning waterfront and historical cultural space based on MM21's development policy and strategy under the growth process and development of Yokohama. Results: MM21 is the core public project out of the six major projects promoted by Yokohama, which is on the brink of satellite cities for the expansion of Tokyo with a goal of qualitative transformation of former harbor. It is planned to be developed as a creative cultural waterfront city for an integrated urban development. Conclusion: Planning waterfront cultural city, which takes advantage of the former harbor city derived through MM21 analysis, provides the cityscape towards the sea and the port via the viewing point and opens the waterfront open to the port and the sea Space and Esplanade landscape development, preservation of historic buildings and cultural assets, recycling as cultural art space, waterfront space planning that cooperates with public culture art and pedestrian network.
Four cargo ships were ambushed by bombs in 2019 while navigating in the Strait of Hormuz. It was not clear who attacked those ships, however, many nations including the United States argued that it was Iran due to several reasons. The United States established the maritime collective defense system named International Maritime Security Construct (IMSC) in order to protect the maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, without disclosure against whom it is aimed. Persian, who uses the Persian language unlike other countries in the Middle East, is the major ethnic group in Iran, and most of them believe Shi'ah Islam while most of the Arabs in the Gulf countries adhere to Sunni Islam. It seems that historic and religious motives caused the bipolar system in the Middle East, however, it is plausible to analyze the system of international affairs in the Middle East via defensive or structural realism. Iran has attempted to maintain its hegemony in the region by supporting Shi'ah muslims in the neighboring countries as well as in the world by using military and economic means. In this context, Iran's maritime strategy is to maintain its maritime hegemony on the Persian Gulf via countering threats and cooperating with friendly navies by using the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy(IRIN) and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy(IRGCN). IRIN acts like other navies in the world: protecting national interest at sea, expending its operational areas to the outer seas, and enhancing cooperation with other navies. Meanwhile, IRGCN plays a role as an asymmetric force at sea. It is composed of small and fast asymmetric assets, which can ambush ships fast and furious. Considering the poor study for Iran's maritime strategy in Korea, analyzing the strategy is meaningful for the Republic of Korea Navy, which has operated the Cheonghae Unit for more than ten years since it has extended its operational area over the Strait of Hormuz. In order not to be drawn into the conflict in the Strait, research on the maritime strategy of Iran and other countries in the Middle East should be started.

To effectively collect, manage, and share the maritime traffic information, it is necessary to identify the technology trends concerning this particular information and analyze its current status and problems. Therefore, this study observes the domestic and foreign technology trends involving maritime traffic information while analyzing and summarizing the current status and problems in collecting, managing, and sharing it. According to the data analysis, the problems in the collecting stage are difficulties in collecting visual information from long-distance radars, CCTVs, and cameras in areas outside the LTE network coverage. Notably, this explains the challenges in detecting smuggling ships entering the territorial waters through the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the early stage. The problems in the management stage include difficult reductions and expansions of maritime traffic information caused by the lack of flexibility in storage spaces mostly constructed by the maritime transportation system. Additionally, it is challenging to deal with system failure with system redundancy and backup as a countermeasure. Furthermore, the problems in the sharing stage show that it is difficult to share information with external operating organizations since the internal network is mainly used to share maritime transportation information. If at all through the government cloud via platforms such as LRIT and SASS, it often fails to effectively provide various S/W applications that help use maritime big data. Therefore, it is suggested that collecting equipment such as unmanned aerial vehicles and satellites should be constructed to expand collecting areas in the collecting stage. In the management and sharing stages, the introduction and construction of private clouds are suggested, considering the operational administration and information disclosure of each maritime transportation system. Through these efforts, an enhancement of the expertise and security of clouds is expected.
