Estimation of Suspended Sediment Load in Imha-Andong Watershed using SWAT Model (SWAT 모델을 이용한 임하.안동 유역의 부유사량 발생량 추정)

  • For efficient turbid water management a SWAT model was established for the Imha-Andong watershed where serious turbid water problems have frequently occurred. To evaluate soil loss combined with rainfall runoff process, the analysis focused on comparing the daily runoff discharge and concentration of suspended sediment (SS) using measured data sets. The results of annual SS load analysis for each sub-basin using the calibrated model showed that in the entire target watershed the soil loss ranged from 0.7 to 5.9 tons/ha in year 2005 and from 3.0 to 34.0 tons/ha in year 2003 when the typhoon 'Maemi' severly affected the area. In the future, it is suggest to increase model simulation accuracies supported by a long-term and extensive monitoring to enhance basin-wide suspended sediment estimation and management.

  • 서낙동강은 유역면적이 $304.1\;km^2$이고, 유로연장이 18.5 km로서 유역형상이 방사상과 우상의 혼합상으로 비교적 구형을 이루고 있으며, 유역의 평균폭은 동서방향으로 $17{\sim}20\;km$, 남북방향으로는 약 18 km정도이다. 연평균강수량은 1,349 mm이다. 서낙동강은 상류에는 대저수문, 하류에는 녹산수문이 위치하고 있으며, 이와 같은 수문들에 의하여 하천의 유량이 조절되는 호소형 하천이다. 홍수시 유역의 60% 이상이 침수되는 수해 상습지구에 해당되며, 대저수문과 녹산수문에 의해 조절되고 있어 자연적인 하천흐름이 원활하지 않은 정체수역이다. 따라서 장기간 오염물질이 퇴적되고 있으며, 이로 말미암아 수질오염이 매우 심한 곳이기도 하다. 따라서 수문에 의해 조절되는 하천에서는 적절한 하천유지유량의 확보는 물론이고, 하천의 수질악화를 고려한 하천운영 기법의 도입이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 특히, 최근에 화두가 되고 있는 유역의 수량과 수질의 통합 관리를 실현하기 위해서도 하천의 수질뿐만 아니라 어류의 서식환경까지도 고려한 수문 운영기술의 개발이 요구된다. 서낙동강의 수문 개방시기에 맞춰 수질분석을 한 뒤 개방 전, 후의 수질결과를 비교 분석해야 한다. 이와 함께 낙동강 본류의 수질도 함께 분석하여 서낙동강 수질 개선에 필요한 수문운영 방안을 도출해야한다. 수문운영자와 하천수 이용자들은 갈수기 하천 수질악화, 오염물질 누출사고 등이 발생할 때 하천 수질개선 효과를 극대화하기 위해서는 보다 많은 유입량을 취수하여 서낙동강에 통수해야 하는데, 이는 향후 녹산수문의 배수펌프장을 활용하면 가능할 수 있을 것으로 판단되며, 이를 위해서는 낙동강 하구언의 수량감소 문제와 방류량 증가에 따른 녹산수문 하류측의 외해에 대한 환경영향도 반드시 고려되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 서낙동강의 수질관리 방안을 도출하기 위하여 수문 유입량 및 방류량 변화에 따른 하천수질 변화를 측정 자료 분석을 통해 수행하였다. 본 연구결과는 향후 동적 수질모형 연구에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure of Pseudobagrus fulvidraco in the Nakdong River (낙동강에 분포하는 동자개 집단의 유전적 다양성과 집단구조)

  • Enzyme electrophoresis was used to estimate genetic diversity and population genetic structure of Pseudobagrus fulvidraco in Korea. Nine of the 14 loci (64.3%) showed detectable polymorphism. Genetic diversity at the population and species levels were 0.286 and 0.277, respectively. Analysis of fixation indices, calculated for all polymorphic loci in each population, showed a substantial deficit of hetero-zygotes relative to Hardy-Weinberg expectations. This deficit is expected that it is due to a limited effective number of individuals per population. The average $G_{ST}$ for polymorphic loci was 0.064, indicating that most (93.6%) of the genetic diversity occurred within populations. The indirect estimate of gene flow based on mean $G_{ST}$ was 3.67. Given limited gene flow is expected to diverge genetically due to drift and reduced populations. Most populations in our study experience annual, severe demo-graphic bottlenecks due to drought and floods.

  • To fulfill the requirements for establishing processes of canning low-acid foods, canned tuna packed in cottonseed oil (CTCO) sterilized at $110^{\circ}C$ for varying $F_0-values$ was subjected to microbial, sensory and chemical analyses. The investigation included the long-term quality stability of those products stored at $5^{\circ}C,\;25^{\circ}C\;and\;50^{\circ}C$ for 120 days. Longer sterilization $(F_0>5.18min)$ caused no remarkable changes in pH, amino nitrogen content, TBA value, POV and sensory scores of the CTCOs during storage at all experimental temperatures. But the sterilizing with $Fe\leq5.18min$ resulted generally poor quality in all experimental analyses. Consequently, $F_0-value$ 6.0 min may be applicable to sterilization of CTCO for long-term storage stability.

  • In recent years there has been considerable interest in reconstructive surgery of the trachea for cervical tracheal stenosis developed by complication of endotracheal intubation or tracheotomy, or trauma of the neck. The methods used to reconstruct the tracheal defects can be repaired with end-to - end anastomosis, cervical flaps, and autogenous graft materials. Since Grillo had undertaken tracheal reconstruction after circumferential resection in dogs, resection and end - to - end anastomosis was used in cases of circumferential stenosis. And, costal, nasal septal and auricular cartilage have been used for the autogenous graft materials. Since Caputo and Consiglio had undergone tracheoplasty with auricular cartilage, Morgenstein reported successful repair of a tracheal defect with a composite postauricular cartilage graft. The advantages of the auricular cartilage graft are its easy accessibility, availability and familiarity to the otolaryngologist. In past 2 years, We performed the tracheoplasty with auricular cartilage graft and end- to end an astomosis after segmental resection in 5 patients who had suffered from tracheal stenosis. And we obtained good results. So, we reported the cases with review of the literatures.

  • The whole world has been damaged by dramatic increase of natural disasters such as localized torrential downpour, earthquake and drought, while suffering from climate changes caused by global warming. In Korea where the continental climate and oceanic one are crossed, the frequency and the size of damages are increased by stronger typhoons and localized torrential downpours and landslides, storms and floods. Therefore, this study analyzed damage cases and their causes and examined foreign plans to prevent natural disasters, by limiting to rural villages where serious damages occur due to typhoons and localized torrential downpours and measures and infra-structures against such disasters are poorly prepared. From the findings, it attempts to suggest some plans to establish disaster safety villages by abstracting plan factors applicable to rural areas in Korea, on the basis of facilities and spatial projects.

  • This study is that MD-FDA and the existing method were applied together the outlet project under the construction in the Gulpo River basin. The results of both of them mot the economic feasibility of the Project. But, MD-FDA evaluated the suitable damage according to situations; 1) without project, 2) after 20m outlet construction, 3) after 80m outlet construction. That is, MD-FDA could exactly evaluate the Annual Expected Flood Damage by considering the characteristics to the inundated area. If M-FDA may use in the flood control projects, the projects will be able to be taken into account all characteristics of the total damage area and performed by reasonable criteria.

  • A multiply-connected network unsteady flow model for the main reach of the Han River is developed. It is a variable parameter model which allows variable roughness coefficient for each computational point according to the spatial position and the value of discharge. Sensitivities of the model to roughness coefficient and weir-flow discharge coefficient are tested, and as a result Manning's roughness coefficient is selected as the calibration parameter. The model is calibrated and verified using the records of the past flood events. A modified Gauss-Newton method is used for the optimal calibration of roughness coefficients. From the calibration of variable parameter model, spatial variation and discharge dependence of Manning's roughness coefficient are identified. That is, the roughness coefficient is higher for the upstream reach of the Wangsook stream Junction, and it decreases as the discharge increases. It turns out through the verification that the stages calculated by the variable parameter model agree better with the observed than those by the conventional single parameter model. Spatial variation of the roughness coefficient appears to be more significant than the dependence of the discharge.

  • An inundation analysis was performed on Hwapocheon, one of the tributaries of Nakdong River, which was inundated by heavy rain in August, 2002 with overtopping and levee break. The results of the developed model, 2D diffusion wave inundation analysis model, was compared with inundation trace map as well as inundation depth in terms of time and maximum inundated area calculated from FLUMEN model for the assessment of model applicability. The results from the developed model showed high fitness of 88.61% in comparison with observed data. Also maximum inundated area and spatial distribution of inundation zone were also found to be consistent with the results of FLUMEN model. Therefore, inundation zone and maximum inundation area calculated over a period of time by adopting 2D diffusion wave inundation analysis model can be used as a database for identifying high risk areas of inundation and establishing flood damage reduction measures.

  • 하천은 인간의 활동과 산업화에 의해 많은 인위적인 교란을 받고 있다. 대표적으로 댐과 저수지는 수자원의 이용, 발전, 그리고 다양한 산업화를 위하여 건설되었다. 이는 경제발전과 함께 인간의 생명과 용수 공급 및 홍수 예방의 차원에서 많은 역할을 해오고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 댐과 저수지는 하류 하천에 서식하는 생물들에 대한 영향을 거의 고려하지 않고 건설되는 실정이다. 특히 발전방류와 같은 급격한 유량의 변화는 하류 하천에 서식하는 생물들의 서식처에 직접적으로 영향을 미치고 있다. 하류 하천에 서식하는 생물들은 인간의 인위적 교란에도 영향뿐만 아니라 유속, 수심, 기층, 영양물질, 수질, 온도 등과 같은 서식처 요소에도 영향을 받는다. 따라서 서식처 요소들에 대한 연구는 하천 생태계의 변화 또는 영향을 주는 인자에 대해 평가하고 분석하는데 유용하게 사용된다. 본 연구에서는 댐 발전방류로 인한 수온 차이가 하류 하천에 미치는 영향을 파악하였다. 발전방류로 인한 하류 하천의 수온 변화를 모의하기 위하여 미공병단에서 개발된 CE-QUAL-W2 모형을 사용하였다. 대상구간은 괴산댐 하류에 위치한 달천이며 2.5 km구간을 선정하였고, 달천 상류에 위치한 괴산댐은 빈번하게 발전방류를 발생시키고 있다. 발전방류로 인한 하류하천의 수온 변화를 살펴보기 위하여, 여름과 겨울 두 계절의 상반된 경우에 대하여 모의를 수행하였다. 괴산댐의 경우, 중층 및 하층방류를 실시하므로 상대적으로 온도 차이가 심한 발전방류가 하류 하천으로 유입이 된다. 실측된 자료를 살펴보면, 괴산댐에서 발전방류는 하류 하천과의 온도 차이가 약 $10^{\circ}C{\sim}19^{\circ}C$ 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 댐 발전방류로 인한 하류 하천의 수온 변화를 분석함으로써, 댐 하류 하천에서 서식하는 생물들을 고려한 댐 운용 계획을 수립하는데 중요한 기초자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.
