The Optimization of Cylindrical Perforated Burner for Condensing Gas Boiler (콘덴싱 가스보일러용 원통형 다공버너의 최적화 연구)

  • The objective of performing this study is to develop low emission condensing gas boiler. To reduce NOx and CO, three reasonable distances between burner and heat exchanger were decided through the experiments of model plane burner. Three burners with different diameter were made and then emission characteristics were examined. The optimum burner geometry was determined from flame stability, pollutant emission characteristics and applicability to the practical boiler system. In the domain of equivalence ratio 0.68~0.85, turn-down ratio of the burner designed by this research was extended to a wider range of 5 : 1. Thermal efficiency of the boiler developed by this study reached to 97% (LHV basis) of heating water efficiency at heating load of 20,000 kcal/hr when fueled by both of LNG or LPG. Emission ($O_2$=0%, wet basis) of NOx and CO concentration was 26 ppm and 85 ppm when fueled by LNG, 41 ppm and 113 ppm when fueled by LPG respectively.

  • There are various types of heat exchanger by its purpose and usage, but the important thing is making smaller size of heat exchanger with increasing of the performance of heat exchanger. However, when a burner exists in front of a heat exchanger like boiler, the thermal efficiency of heat exchanger is not only important, but the characteristics of pollutant emission should be considered. Therefore, in this study, a circular tube type of heat exchanger in front of premixed burne, which has a shorter of flame length than that of non-premixed burner and can control $NO_x$ and CO emission by adjustment of equivalence ratio, was installed. Consequently, characteristics of $NO_x$ and CO emission and thermal efficiency of heat exchanger were studied with changing distances between tubes and equivalence ratio, experimentally.

  • When an underground limestone mine selects room-and-pillar mining method, in which the stability of mine openings is maintained by leaving safety pillars, the stability of safety pillars is always incompatible with their productivity. Therefore, the engineering decision for stability and productivity is essential. In this study, a progress of excavation faces by conventional blasting pattern has been examined in field for investigating over-break and stereo-photogrammetry method has been applied to this field measurement for improvement of accuracy. Also this result has been reflected instantly to composite blasting pattern by feedback, for minimizing overbreak. Field tests showed the relevant results that $3.5m^2$ in over-break out of $70m^2$ in total excavation face has been decreased, that is 5% of reduction rate in maximum.

  • 수소 기반의 에너지 사회는 중소규모 분산 발전과 연료 전지 자동차에서 시작될 거라는 예측이 지배적이다. 가정용 고분자 연료전지 시스템은 상업화에 가장 가까운 소규모 분산 발전 시스템중의 하나이며, 에너지기술연구위원에서는 가정용 고분자 연료전지에 수소를 공급하기 위한 천연가스 수증기 개질시스템의 개발을 진행해 왔다. 효율 향상과 제작의 용이성, 그리고 소형화에 초점을 맞추어 개발된 prototype-I은 $2.0Nm^3/hr$의 순수 수소 생산 용량을 가지고 있으며, 수증기 개질기와 수성가스 전이 반응기 수중기 생성 장치, 그리고 반응열 공급에 필요한 버너 등을 이중 동심원관에 통합한 형태이다. 수중기 개질과 수성가스 전이 반응을 거쳐 나오는 개질 가스의 조성은 $72.3\%\;H_2,\;4.8\%\;CH_4,\;0.7\%\;CO,\;22.2\%\;CO_2$이며, 이때 S/C 비율은 2.5였다. 고분자 연료 전지 공급 시 요구되는 CO 농도가 10ppm 이하이기 때문에, 본 시스템에는 선택적 산화 반응기를 2단으로 설치하여 CO. 농도를 10ppm 이하로 낮추어주었다. 전체 시스템의 열효율은 LHV 기준으로 $68\%$. Prototype-I의 운전을 통해 설계 개선안을 도출하였으며, 이를 적용해 제작한 prototype-II가 시험 운전 중이다,. 통합된 개질 시스템에서는 각 단위 반응기사이의 열교환을 최적화하여 단위 반응들이 적정 온도 범위에서 일어나도록 유도하는 것이 중요하다. Prototype-II는 수증기 개질 반응기와 WGS 반응기, 수증기 생성 장치 사이의 열교환율을 향상시켜 농도를 $2.5\%$로 감소시키면서 CO의 농도는 $1\%$이하로 유지하였다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 얻어진 메탄 전환율은 $87\%$이고, 열효율은 LHV 기준으로 $75\%$이다. 아울러 개선점을 적용한 선택적 산화 반응기를 제작하였다. 개질 가스와 산소의 혼합을 유도하고, 반응기 온도의 제어를 통해 선택적 산화 반응의 속도와 선택성을 향상시키고자 한다. 시스템의 운전을 통해 메탄 전환율과 열효율의 개선을 진행할 예정이다.

Improvement of UV Photoluminescence of Hydrogen Plasma Treated ZnO Nanowires (수소 플라즈마 처리된 산화 아연 나노선의 자외선 발광 특성향상)

  • ZnO nanowires were synthesized by vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) process using ZnO and graphite powders on the sapphire substrate coated with an Au film as a catalyst. ZnO nanowires had two prominent emission bands; i) near-band edge (NBE) emission band at 380 nm, and ii) a relatively stronger deep level (DL) emission band ($I_{NBE}/I_{DL}$ <1). In order for the ZnO nanowires to be utilized as an effective material for UV emitting devices, the photoluminescence intensity of NBE needs to be improved with the decreased intensity of DL. In the current study, hydrogen plasma treatment was performed to improve the photoluminescence characteristics of ZnO nanowires. With the hydrogen plasma treatment time of more than 120 sec, the extent of performance improvement was gradually decreased. However, the intensity ratio of NBE to DL ($I_{NBE}/I_{DL}$) was significantly improved to about 4 with a relatively short plasma treatment time of 90 sec, suggesting hydrogen plasma treatment is a promising approach to improve the photoluminescence properties of ZnO nanowires.

  • When a electric power cable is installed in the air for newly or exchanged working, it is necessary at all time to hold a constant tension for an overhead power cable. And also a pendanted power cable is an extreme job to have work in a high sky. For this reason, the objective of this paper developments working robot for preventing disaster that tension of cable installed automatically power cable to hold a constant. So the working robot works at all the time two tasks for mobil and tension it come into a inference between two tasks, control is difficult. Control methode needs to suppress inference of two tasks. In this paper, for installation of overhead power cable, the scheme and control methode of working robot is presented. the robot work at a same time tow tasks that have hold a constant tension of the power cable and move a constant place while unfasten a winding cable at a drum on a chassis. Working robot consist of three parts with mobile system, tension system and control part. As it is applied the feedback/feedforward control, methode of hybrid control is established to suppress that interference come into between two tasks. The simulation programs is made out using models of mobil and tension system, and a proposed controllers. In accordance with simulation, the model of each systems is discussed to make out proper. And also parameters of controllers is selected a suitable value and the driving performance of robot is evaluated.

  • Due to spread of movies or online games which are applied with computer animation techniques, we can easily see scenes where numerous characters appear. In the case of large-scale crowd animation, if one were to increase reality of the scene, features of system would be lowered, and if one were to increase functioning of system, reality of the scene would be lowered. In realizing large-scale crowd animation with seafloor environment as background, the paper analyzed and applied elements that affect behavioral types of fishes; and by using concept of crowd, the paper enabled each group or object to control their behavioral type; by comparing and contrasting real-time calculation method as calculation method for animation and hybrid calculation method which is mixed calculation method, the paper seeks to find a method that increases functioning of the system while also expresses natural scenes.

  • Hydrogen can extend the lean misfire limit to a large extent when it is mixed with conventional fuels for an internal combustion engine. This study is about fuel reforming to produce hydrogen enriched gas as a fuel for engine. Especially gasoline, which consists of numerous hydrocarbon fuels, considered as source of reformed gas. Various hydrocarbons, including commercial fuel were reformed and potentialities of reformed gas on vehicles were accessed. The reforming efficiency and hydrogen yield were observed. Maximum hydrogen yield were found with different gas hourly space velocity(GHSV) and O2/C ratio of reforming conditions.

Characteristics of Combustion and Thermal Efficiency for Premixed Flat Plate Burner Using a Porous Media (다공성 소재 종류에 따른 예혼합 평판버너의 연소 및 열효율 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is investigated on the combustion and the thermal characteristics of porous media burners which are many using for a condensing boiler recently. In addition, results of this study will be used the fundamental information to decide the burner type which will be applied to the future development of EGR(Exhaust gas recirculation) condensing boiler. Two flat type of burners made of a the metal fiber(MF) and the ceramic(CM) were selected and examined, experimentally. As experimental results, the emitted CO concentration of CM was higher than that of MF. However, the NO concentration of MF was higher than that of CM. The efficiencies of both burners were increased as increasing the burner capacity. While the efficiency of MF was higher than that of CM, regardless of the burner capacity. In the experimental range, MF is appropriated for the burner material and 0.8 of equivalence ratio is an optimal operation condition, regarding of the proportional control, the thermal efficiency and emitted NO and CO concentration based on the regulations of KS B standard and EN 677 standard.

  • The controlled synthesis of inorganic materials with a specific size and morphology is an important factor in the development of new materials in many fields, such as nanoparticles, medicine, electronics, semiconductors, pharmaceutical sand cosmetics. Solution crystallization is one of the most widely used separation processes in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Calcium carbonate has attracted a great deal of attention in industry because of its numerous applications. The mean crystal size, crystal size distribution and morphology are important factors in the continuous crystallization process. In this study, the continuous crystallization of calcium carbonate by the calcium chloride process was investigated. The mean crystal size and crystal size distribution data were obtained by a particle size analyzer. The morphological imaging of the crystalswasper formed by SEM. Under steady state operation, the mean crystal size change was small, but increasing the input concentration and mixing rate increased the crystal size. In this operation, some aragonite was found, but the main crystal phase was calcite.
