An Experimental Study of Flexible-Stiff Mixed System of High Yield Ratio-High Strength Steel for the Practical Use (고항복비-고강도강의 유강혼합구조 시스템 적용에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper summarizes the test results of the flexible-stiff mixed system for the effective use of high-strength steel. Steel with a high degree of strength and performance is being increasingly required as buildings get larger and taller. High-strength steels cannot be used for many applications, though, because they have a number of defects. For instance, they have a high yield ratio, a small strain in maximum stress, and equal Young's modulus compared to mild steels. A new structural system is needed to effectively use high-strength steels with some defects. This paper proposes the flexible-stiff mixed system for the effective use of high-strength steels with high yield ratios. The possibility of using the system is discussed through the test of flexible-stiff mixed columns with high-strength steels. The main variable of the specimens is the yield displacement ratio, including both the force ratio and the stiffness ratio. The proper yield displacement ratio is proposed by adopting the flexible-stiff mixed system. The test results showed that the proposed flexible-stiff mixed system has a high capacity for energy absorption and the highest capacity for energy absorption when the yield displacement ratio of the flexible element to the stiff element ranges from 2.7 to 3.3.

A Study on The Development and Evaluation of The Pine Needle Flavor oil (솔잎 향미유의 제조와 기호성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, development of the pine needle flavor oils and their application to foods, especially to traditional Korean foods, were investigated. The pine needle flavor oils were prepared by the autoclaving method, and their volatile flavor components(VFCs) were determined by capillary gas chromatographic method The major flavor components of the pine noddle flavor oil were a -pinene 31.1%, pentane 9.8%, tricyclene 7.5%, camphene 6.8%, hexanal 6.2%, propane 6.0%, ${\beta}$-pinene 5.6%, limonene 3.9%. The acceptability of the pine needle flavor oils, sensory evaluation including a preference test and quantitative descriptive analysis(QDA), of the pine needle flavor oil, a sesame oil, and a blended oil (pine needle flavor oil : sesame oil 50 : 50 v/v) was carried out. The blended oil and sesame oil showed much higher preference scores than the pine needle flavor oil, and blended oil was almost as acceptable as sesame oil(P < 0.05). The results seem to indicate that blended oil can be used as a unique substitution for sesame oil in some foods, especially in some traditional Koran food.

A Study on the Applicability of Ultrasonic to Improve Quality of Fuel Blended in Vessels (선내 제조된 혼합연료 품질 개선을 위한 초음파 적용 가능성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, contributes to improving the state of this problem using cavitation by ultrasonic energy to reduce fuel costs, which take up a considerable part of ship operation costs, by making the use of on-board blended fuel oil more stable. An experiment simulating on-board blending methods was completed. Fuel (M.G.O & MF-180) was mixed at a volume ratio of 0.25:0.75 and, 0.75:0.25, and the effect of ultrasonic energy on blended fuel oil was examined after applying ultrasonic energy to blended fuel oil using an ultrasonic treatment unit. With the results, we confirmed the blending problem reported by vessels and residual carbon was reduced by up to 28.4%. In addition, based on the results for reduction of residual carbon content and dispersion stability, it was confirmed that the collapse pressure of the cavity due to the ultrasonic energy was effective to atomization of fuel particle and the temporary availability of mixed fuel containing a heavy fuel increased.

반원주형 윤활홈을 갖는 저어널 베어링의 열효과에 관한 연구

  • 유체 윤활 이론에 의한 저어널 베어링의 해석은 그 적용 버위가 넓기 때문에 다양하게 연구되어왔다. 근래에는 열적 효과의 중요성 때문에, 윤활유의 점도와 온도와의 관계, 윤활유 주입홈에서의 윤활유 혼합현상, Cavitation현상, 고속에서 윤활유의 난류현상, 윤활유 주입구의 위치 그리고 경사진 베어링 축이 유막에 미치는 영향 등 다양한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 반원주형 윤활홈을 갖는 저어널 베어링의 주입 윤활유의 열효과가 베어링 부하량과 마찰에 미치는 영향 등을 고찰하였고, 본 연구를 수행하기 위해, 베어링 Bush와 Shfft벽에서 여러가지 열전달 겅계 조건을 가정한 가운데 Reynolds 방정식을 Energy 방정식과 동시에 수치해석적으로 풀었다. 수치해석 방법은 FDM(Finite Difference Method) 중 SOR(Successive Over-Relaxation)Technigue을 이용하였다. 또한 윤활유 점도와 온도의 관계는 지수함수(Exponential Function) 형태로 취했다. 주입 윤활유 온도와 압력 그리고 윤활홈의 형태 등을 변화시켜가며 베어링 성능에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다.

달맞이꽃 종자유를 이용한 혈중 콜레스테롤 저하 Cheddar Cheese의 연구

  • 본 연구는 콜레스테롤을 제거한 cream과 skim milk을 혼합하여 균질시 달맞이꽃 종자유를 첨가하여 혈중 콜레스테롤을 저하시키는 Cheddar cheese를 개발하는데 목적을 두었으며, ${\beta}$-CD에 의한 치즈의 콜레스테롤 제거율은 90%이상이었다. Rheological 분석에서 숙성 기간동안 hardness 값이 증가하였지만 다른 rheological 성질의 유의적 차이는 나타나지 않았고, 관능평가에서는 달맞이꽃 종자유 함유량이 증가할수록 off-flavor intensity, rancid가 높았으며 반대로 cheese flavor는 감소하였다. 달맞이꽃 종자유는 off-flavor intensity, rancid에 상당한 영향을 끼친다고 나타났다. 동물실험에서 달맞이꽃 종자유 5%를 첨가한 Cheddar cheese는 control과 비교하여 25%의 혈중 콜레스테롤을 저하시켰다. 본 연구에서 콜레스테롤이 제거된 달맞이꽃 종자유의 첨가가 혈중 콜레스테롤을 획기적으로 감소시켜 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

Study on the Biodegradability of Dispersants and Dispersant/Bunker-C Oil Mixtures and the Dissolved Oxygen Consumption in the Seawater(II) - The Biodegradability of Dispersant/Bunker-C Oil Mixtures and the Dissolved Oxygen Consumption in the Seawater - (해수중에서 유처리제 및 유처리제/Bunker-C유 혼합물의 생분해도와 용존산소소비에 관한 연구(II) - 유처리제/Bunker-C유 혼합물의 생분해도와 용존산소소비 -)

  • The biodegradation experiment, the TOD analysis and the element analysis for dispersant, Bunker-C and dispersant/Bunker-C oil mixtures were conducted for the purposes of evaluating the biodegradability of dispersnat/Bunker-C oil mixtures and studying the consumption of dissolved oxygen with relation to biodegradation in the seawater. The results of biodegradation experiment showed the mixtures with $1:10{\sim}5:10$ mix ratios of dispersant to 4mg/l of Bunker-C oil to be $0.34{\sim}2.06mg/l$ of $BOD_5$ and to be $1.05{\sim}5.47mg/l$ of $BOD_{20}$ in natural seawater. The results of TOD analysis showed 1mg of Bunker-C oil to be 3.16mg of TOD. The results of element analysis showed the contents of carbon and hydrogen to be $87.3\%\;and\;11.5\%$ for Bunker-C oil, respectively, but nitrogen element was not detected in Bunker-C oil. The biodegradability of dispersant/Bunker-C oil mixture shown as the ratio of $BOD_5$/TOD was increased from $3\%\;to\;11\%$ as a mix ratio of dispersant to 4mg/l of Bunker-C oil changed from 1:10 to 5:10, and the mixtures were found to belong in the organic matter group of low-biodegradability. The deoxygenation rates($K_1$) and ultimate oxygen demands($L_o$) obtained through the biodegration experiment and Thomas slope method were found to be $0.072{\sim}0.097/day$ and $1.113{\sim}6.746mg/l$ for the mixtures with $1:10{\sim}5:10$ mix ratios of dispersant to 4mg/l of Bunker-C oil, respectively. The ultimate oxygen demand of mixture was increased as a mix ratio of dispersant to Bunker-C oil changed from 1:10 to 10:5. This means that the more dispersants are applied to the sea for Bunker-C oil cleanup, the more decreases the dissolved oxygen level in the seawater.

  • In this study, quantitative nitric oxide concentration distributions are investigated in the laminar nonpremixed $H_2/N_2$ flames by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The measurements are taken in flames for different $N_2$ dilution ratios varying from 20${\sim}$80%, and fuel now rate is fixed as lslpm. The NO A-X (0,0) vibrational band around 226 nm is excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. We applied same excitation line used in $CH_4$ premixed flame. Overall, NO concentration was rapidly decreased with $N_2$ addition and we could not measure the concentration any longer for $N_2$ dilution above 80%.

  • In this study, quantitative nitric oxide concentration distributions are investigated in the post-flame zone of laminar premixed $CH_4/O_2/N_2$, flames by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The measurements are taken in flames for different equivalence ratios varying from $0.8{\sim}1.4$, and flow rate is fixed as 5slpm. The NO A-X (0,0) vibrational band around 226 nm is excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. Selecting an appropriate NO transition minimizes interferences from Rayleigh scattering and $O_2$ fluorescence. NO concentration is rised when equivalence ratios increase at different vertical distances form nozzle tip. In any case, the maximum NO concentration reaches the maximum in reaction zone.

  • Lactobacillus acidophilus KFCC12731 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae KFCC32017 were incubated together in soymilk and the conditions for acid production were investigated. The acid production of Lactobacillus acidophilus was much higher when this organism was incubated with Saccharomyces cerevisiae in soymilk than when it was incubated alone. Optimum acid production by the mixed cultures of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Saccharomyces cerevisiae was achieved with the following conditions; a temperature of 34$^{\circ}C$, a 3:7-8:2 (OD 660) ratio of Lactobacillus acidophilus to Saccharomyces cerevisiae at inoculum, a 1.5% level of sucrose fortification or a 2.0-3.0 % level of skim milk powder fortification and a culture time of 12 hours or more.

  • In this study, we have investigated the closure behavior of fatigue cracks in SAPH440 steel plates under a mixed-mode I+II loading. A crack image capturing system as a direct measuring method was used to measure the closure levels at a crack tip. The crack closure levels in the fluctuation and stable sections were increased with the increase of the mode mixture ratio. The mode mixture ratio independent fatigue crack propagation rates equation was calculated by considering mixed-mode crack closure levels. The equation was examined according to the application method of crack opening ratio. The fracture surface analysis by C-scan method was also performed in order to investigate the closure mechanism and propagation mode of crack under the mixed-mode I+II loading. The crack closure under the mixed mode I+II is confirmed as a surface roughness closure by the quantitative analysis of fracture surface using the proposed surface roughness parameter.
