Evaluation on In-Site Compressive Strength of High-Strength Concrete Mass Elements under Cold Weather (혹한기 고강도 콘크리트 매스부재의 현장 압축강도 평가)

  • This study evaluated the in-site compressive strength development of high-strength concrete developed for the mass structures under cold weather condition. Two mock-up wall specimens with $2.0{\times}1.2{\times}1.0m$ in dimension were cured under an average temperature of $5^{\circ}C$. Core strengths measured at different locations of the mock-up walls were compared with the companion standard cylinder strengths. Test results revealed that the core strength of mock-up walls at an age of 3 days is higher by approximately 30% than the companion cylinder strength because of the high curing temperature effect generated from the heat of hydration of cementitious materials. Furthermore, comparisons with the prediction models based on maturity function confirmed that the effect of hydration heat on the curing temperature increase needs to be reflected to reasonably evaluate the on-site compressive strength development of concrete for mass elements.

  • In Korea, it is the law that an apartment building which consists of over 100 households must have a ventilation system installed, either natural or mechanical. The heat recovery ventilator (HRV) is great way to reduce energy consumption. In this research we confirmed that based on site's construction plan and existing diffuser form, performed purpose CFD which simulates operation in temperatures below $-5^{\circ}C$ to circumstances of installation of an HRV in an apartment. As a result of this research we found that when the diffuser's aperture area was adjusted, the distribution of air temperature and residence time of air was more equally distributed and air temperature was higher, compared to when the diffuser has an identical aperture area. We also found that we are able to increase even more air temperature and air distribution of air temperature and residence time of air was even more equally distributed when run in parallel with a splitter damper.

Accuracy Improvement in Demand Forecast of District Heating by Accounting for Heat Sales Information (열판매 정보를 고려한 지역난방 수요 예측의 정확도 향상)

  • In this study, to improve the accuracy of forecast of heat demand in the district heating system, this study applied heat demand performance among the main factors of district heating demand forecast in Pankyo area as the heat sales information of the user facility instead of existing heat source facility heat supply information, and compared the existing method with the accuracy based on the actual value. As a result of comparing the difference of the forecasts values of the existing and changed methods based on the performance values over the one week (2018.01.08 ~ 01.14) during the hot water peak, the relative error decreased from 7% to 3% The relative error between the existing and revised forecasts was 9% and 4%, respectively, for the five-month cumulative heat demand from February to February 2018, Also, in case of the weekend where the demand of heat is differentiated, the relative error of the forecasts value is consistently reduced from 10% to 5%.

  • 고층 건물에서 혹한기에 심하게 발생하는 연돌효과는 건물 외벽 및 창문에 구조적 영향을 미치고, 제연기능을 기능을 저해하고, 승강기 문 개폐 장애와 소음 및 공조기능 장애 등 설비 기능에 부정적 영향을 미치며, 화재시 승강기 승강로 등 수직 샤프트를 통해 연기를 전파시킨다. 계단실의 상하부를 화재 시 자동으로 개방함으로써 계단실의 기류 유동 마찰을 이용하여 연돌효과를 대폭 줄일 수 있고, 승강기 승강로 또한 상하부를 개방함으로써 승강로와 거실 사이의 차압을 줄여서 연기의 전파를 막을 수 있다. 샤프트 복합효과를 이용하여 차압을 상당부분 제어할 수 있으며, 일반용 샤프트만으로 샤프트 복합효과를 일으키기에 부족한 경우에는 연돌효과 제어 전용 보조 샤프트를 검토할 필요가 있다.

  • In the present work, a new freeze protection method has been proposed for a natural circulation system of solar water heater. Though electrothermal wire is popularly used for the purpose, there are freezing troubles by wire cut-off and excessive electric power consumption. In the experimental device, hot water in a storage tank was circulated by a small pump and used to heat the outdoor pipes if the cold water pipe surface temperature falls lower than a set point. As a result, It was observed that there was no hot water waste while the solar water heating system operated without freeze and burst.

  • The hot water producer by the combination of the solar thermal energy and freon gas compression heat has been developed. Freon R-12 gas was circulated through the system including the solar absorption panel, which has no glassing and no insulation, and the frozen and burst problems were intrinsically eliminated. The manufacturing and running costs may go further down than the regular solar hot water systems.

  • The reproductive cycle of ovoviviparous melania snail, Semisulcospira libeytina libertina was studied in the valley near Naewon Temple in Yangsan, Korea. Water temperature (WT) of the habitat ranged from 1.3$^{\circ}C$ to 22.5$^{\circ}C$ The meat weight rate (MWR) reached the maximum with the beginning of WT increase in March and the minimum in August. Monthly changes in average oocyte diameter showed the maximum (249.6$\pm$2.6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) in July and the minimum (134.3$\pm$2.8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) in December S. libertina libertina seemed to be a year-round breeder except for mid-summer and mid-winter. Two main reproductive cycle of the species could be divided into five successive stages: multiplicative (March, October), growing (April and May, November), mature (June and July, December), ovulation (August, January), parturition (September and October, March to May) and resting (September, February) stages in female and multiplicative (March, October), growing (April, November), mature (March to June, December), copulatory (July and August, January), resting (September, February) stages in male.

  • Length of staircase get longer and evacuation load get heavier in proportion to the building height. Therefore evacuation time could be considered proportional to square of building height. While smoke spreads vertically so rapidly, evacuation speed is too slow, therefore the reasonable measure for the safe of egress route is urgent. Existing pressurizing smoke control system of vertical exit route is seriously limited in function under the stack effect in winter. Stack effect in winter could be overcome with the methods of opening the staircase outward or letting airflow be free between staircase and outside.

  • In cold season, the elevator systems in super high-rise buildings would make noises at the door-gaps on high floors, and the elevator doors on the 1st floor would suffer from opening/closing trouble due to the pressure differences. Such pressure differences are also the main driving power of smokes through the hoistway in the case of fire. In addition, the pressure differences should be overcome to use the elevator systems as a measure of emergency escape. This paper reviews the way of hoistway pressurization to reduce the adverse influences. Simulations achieved a good result close to the requirements of NFPA 92A and IBC 2012 under the condition that the hoistway should be pressurized after pressure equalizing between floors and hoistway with the openings through the hoistway wall.

  • The extension of sunspot number series and auroral observations backward in time is of considerable interest for dynamo theory, solar activity and climate research. It was known that the Maunder minimum corresponded to a unusual cold so called little ice age in Europe and the appearance of sunspot had a close relation to the occurrence of aurora. Therefore we have examined ancient records of sunspots and aurorae with indirect solar proxies during this period and have studied for the features and peculiarities of solar activity with the relation of the climate variation.
